I'm very interested in participating in an upcoming Fan Audio project, but I've never worked on one before. I didn't even know this medium existed (in its fan form), but the concept is awesome! I have fond memories of listening to my tape of "The Story of Star Wars" in my youth (over and over and over again...)
I'm very interested in doing vocal work, and I have quite a bit of experience in audio editing as well, but have virtually no experience in actually writing screen-, er, audioplays, and would prefer assisting with a project that is in the early stages with the story already completed (or close to completion style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif ).
At this point, would it be advisable to just dive in and send audition samples to the projects that have casting calls? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
As an introduction, my name is Evan Stone, I'm 34, and have been an avid Star Wars fan since '77...
I look forward to hearing from you!!

Glad to see another face entering the genre, Evan.
If you want to just jump in for voice work, the easiet thing is just to answer whatever casting calls emerge around here. That will give you a chance to get your voice out there without having to start your own.
However, if you really want to start some of your own projects, let me know. I'd be more than happy to help you do a test project, maybe taking a short Star Wars Tales story or a snippet from a Star Wars novel and show you how to take your story into script form, then audioplay form, then how to start up an actual audio production process. It may take a while, but if you're wanting to get into that area, the best teacher is experience with a tutor, along with a hefty dose of trial and error. That's how I learned, and it helped me quite a bit.

Heh, y'know, I've really never directly trained anyone? Must be avoiding it since I get all that during the day at work.

Thanks for the suggestions, Nathan!

I may take you up on the offer...
I'm swamped with work, etc., at the moment, but doing a test project might be a lot of fun.
Thanks!

Hehe. I wouldn't mind being trained either but I need the stuff to pull it of with and Kazaa is not helping. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

I'm just blown away by the quality of these productions. Responsiblity (and all of your other productions), Rise of Nobility, and Tatooine TV...
BTW, Nathan, did I hear correctly that you're going on hiatus from the audio projects?

Sort of. I've finished Second Strike (with Chris' help, of course), and now all five of my own Anthology episodes are done. Now, my energies need to be focused on getting the Star Wars Timeline Gold up to speed a bit more, keeping the quality of ChronoRadio up and possibly going for more interview episodes, and, most importantly, continuing work on the Second Strike Sourcebook that will sort of tie together all six of my audio dramas into one cohesive universe with all kinds of new information.
While I'm working on those, I don't feel I have time to do another audio drama justice. I'll do one in the future, I'm almost certain, but for now, I'm going to work to promote the genre, keep Anthology on track with Steve, and provide voice work when called upon.

DV: We can certainly discuss it and what'll be in it, but we should do it in the Second Strike thread.
