View Full Version : Star Wars Sports Teams

Premise: You inherit ownership of a professional sports team. *Being such a huge Star Wars fan, you decide to have your team's nickname reflect that. *You are allowed to move your team to any city, state or country. *One other rule: it has to make sense. *Example: the "San Juan Star Wars" wouldn't really work (you can't really grow up to be a Star War). *So...what would your team be? *Feel free to list more than one idea!
Mine: *The Connecticut Clonetroopers or the Cincinnati Sith.
(I'm originally from Connecticut, now living in Ohio, so I felt I had to come up with at least one name for each of my "hometowns") *
I'm sure some of you guys can top those!

Even though I'm guilty of this also, why do most of these sports team names have the same first letter as the town? Why is that? It's not found very often for real sports teams? Hmmm....interesting. I will ponder more....

I have noticed this also. Interesting. Maybe it just rolls off the tongue better. I wonder what the actual number is of professional sports team names whose city/state name begins with the same letter (like the Tennessee Titans).
To counter the trend, I will add:
the Anahiem Mighty Wookiees
and
the Arizona Fighting Sarlaac Tentacles style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

In my hometown, Fayetteville NC, we actually have a hockey team called the Fayetteville Force.

Actually, I'm surprised Lucasfilm has sued them yet. Also, what is the Force (or is it Forces) mascot?
