Great Spacebattle and great cliff hanger.

How long do we have to wait for the next 10 episodes? Is it January?

Gazelle

yeah, I think so.

Good episode, good space battles. It's worth seeing just for the Ben Burtt sound!

Yeah. I was hoping they'd end the ten episode halfway point on a cliff hanger. Can't wait to see what'll happen with Anakin and Asajj.

Who's settin' their VCR's for 9:30 tomorrow night?

Awesome episode. It's tied with Chapter 3 for my favorite.

I hope Anakin's this good in the beginning of EIII!

I liked it I guess.

It was a pretty decent episode, but all in all, I'd say that some of the chapters lacked recently. Although, the animation in the series seems to have improved, some of the manuevers in the space battle seemed a little too cartoony (the most noticable being the "maze-like" moment).

But hey, the show's still great and I can't wait until it picks back up again. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

This could be due to the fact that these shorts are by the same people that do Samurai Jack and other unrealistic Cartoon Network shows.

He will be. He is supposed to be a hero after the Clone Wars. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Anakin sounds horrible. Why they chose this guy for the micro-series and the game(s) that preceded it, I'll never know. The guy sounds more like Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell than Anakin Skywalker.[/b][/quote]

I'm just about half-way through the "Cut Scenes" section. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif That's my favorite part.

Yeah I love the cut scenes. The site is a bit more like a reference library than a daily newspaper.Of course, we love the spoilers..... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Uh, it says at the top who the interview is by.

I have to dissagree with it though. The combat was silly - ships doing silly stuff that manages to look wrong even in animation. Maybe I've played X-Wing too much. Or still hate that style of abstract animation. Course I hate all things abstract, just seems an easy way out.

Nathan Butler

Actually, he did it because the night the first one aired, I heard so much whining and moaning in an hour from people on the Official Site's boards that I immediately wrote a review and sent it to him for the first chapter. I'm also a bit more knowledgable (no offense intended, as he'll attest) in two areas that come into play with the micro-series: the Official Continuity materials and audio production editing, which lends itself well to any discussion on an EU tie-in cartoon series that is meant to weave with the comics and novels of the same era and a medium that is half art, half pure audio production.

The same goes for why he has me doing the RPG reviews rather than him. He could do them, certainly, when he has time, but having a background in the WEG RPG materials and now the WotC materials, having been around gamers for years working at a comic shop in high school and college, and with the extensive EU background of having read most of the WEG and WotC materials cover-to-cover, it makes more sense that I do so.

Of course, that all also assumes that the people reading the reviews will take the split-second it takes to look at the byline. T'Bone's isn't TFN. T runs his show very much like a nice, structured news magazine, where sections are delineated and credit is actually given (unlike on another site I could name), where it's due, and where submissions are accepted and sometimes solicited from those with a particular knowledge base, rather than sniped from other sources, plagiarized, or rambled about by people who don't know what they're talking about.

In other words: It's not THAT hard to read a byline, and if you're too lazy to do so, frankly, that's not the audience I'm writing the reviews for, anyway. I'm aiming more at the mature, thinking, discerning, and hopefully "fair and balanced" fan that seems very rare in fandom today. But then, I guess that'll all be covered in my anti-current-state-of-fandom rant in ChronoRadio #12, so I should leave it for there.

As to the art style, it's all relative to the style, I agree. I think the ship combat worked well, given the style, but were the same shots used in, say, anime-style art, it would've looked idiotic. On the other hand, to have tried a pure anime style action scene with this style of artwork would've looked idiotic as well. The art style, I think, has more to do with the mood for me. The Darth Maul comic needed Durseema, but the Underworld comic needed the abstract artist used there. To have interchanged them would've led to two horrible comic mini-series.

"And that's the memo."

Darth Darthy
11-22-2003, 01:54 AM
I don't mean art style though. I quite like the hard edges a bright colours. I meant the animation and direction. Most of the time it was like watching a flash animation based on micro machines.

Darth Vegas
11-22-2003, 02:01 AM
Well that was neato, not the best episode, but I sense the best is yet to come...

Nathan Butler
11-22-2003, 02:16 AM
But Flash Animation is fun. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Darth Darthy
11-22-2003, 02:24 AM
True. But it lacks professional polish. Scaling and tweeing just looks dodgey and distorted.
I wonder why the entire sequence looked so dodgey considering (I'm just assuming here) it was CG? It's almost shallow in it's execution.
The thing about CG is it allows so many cool angles. They had the models and textures so why not put us in the thick of it instead of watching distant shots?
