Well, I haven't seen a thread on this yet, so I thought I'd make one. *I imagine I'm not the only who enjoyed the music of Episode II.
I've always been a patron for appreciating the music in the Star Wars Saga. *I really think John Williams knows his stuff. *I was throughly impressed with the soundtrack of Episode II. *In TPM the most prominant and mostt popular peice was Duel of the Fates. *Now in Episode II, I think the most beautiful peice of music I have heard in a long time was introduced: Across the Stars. *I find this peice represents the entire theme and story of Episode II. *Anyone else agree?

Yea man I totally agree. Across the Stars is exactly what I was hoping it would be: completely mysterious. In a certain light, it can be heard to be a slow renditition of the Imperial March, but thats something of a stretch.
The rest of the soundtrack was kick-ass. I thought that The Chase Through Coruscant was really dragged on too much. After that, the soundtrack kept achieving new heights. The return of the Trade Federation March (thats what I called it) in track 9 from track 14 in TPM soundtrack was really freaky. Imagine it: these Clone troopers are marching, the Trade Federation song is playing, and one hella confused Jedi is wondering what the **** is goin on. I couldnt help but laugh out loud (in my head of course).
The Duel of the Fates return in track 10 (3:30) reinforced the very title of the song. I remember that in the film, Anakin is really struggling over what hes been told to do and what he must do.
Of course, my favorite track has to be the last one. The rendition of the IMperial March (revamped for effect) was ever so awesome accompanied by the Across the Stars theme. I could only wonder with how much intensity the IMperial March at the end of Episode III would be played.
PS: IF you havent a copy of this magnificent soundtrack, get one now!

I really like the Episode II soundtrack. It seems very unusual when compared to the other soundtracks, yet it's reminiscant of the past. My favorite would have to be Confrontation with Count Dooku and Finale. I thought it was great how he incorporated the Imperial March near the end, as it was very necessary for the film, in my opinion. I think the next soundtrack will probably sound very much like TESB since the Imperial March was used often during the film, but I could be wrong.
I can't wait to see what John comes up with for the next film.

Hmm now that I think about it, I agree with both of you. It seems the last track blends in some of the other tracks for a very impressive effect. The revamped imperial march I enjoy, perhapes a little bit more then the old one. And I like the more prominant play of the Across the Stars theme right when the imperial section ends. Very impressed with John Williams, can't wait to hear what he does for Episode III.

John Williams is brillant. I love his work, it is so ...I need a good word, but I can't think of it. Across the Stars is awesome. I can't wait to see what else Williams has for the next epsiode that should be the best because it ties everything together. I can't wait!

I think John Williams is just a God when it comes to music. I have loved all of his work and I don't think Star Wars would be where it is today without his brilliant music.
My all-time favourite has to the the Imperial March. I love it a lot and hope that gets featured prominently in Episode III.
As far as AOTC is concerned, my favourite piece would have to be Across The Stars. That music just has to move you.
Keep up the magnificent work Mr Williams, I know we all look eagerly to hearing your work in Episode III.

I love the soundtrack, but I have one gripe: *the songs may have been reprised a bit too much. *For instance, ATS was played in Yoda and the Younglings, Meadow Picnic, and Dooku/Finale. *I agree that ATS in the Finale was masterful, but let's not over do it. *Some may think that his method of reprise is great, but I thought he could have used a new peice of music instead of reprising one. *ATS was just an example, but it is still my favorite track from AOTC.
Again, I LOVE the soundtrack and all of the songs and JW is a genious!!! *Maybe this is my ignorance and lack of symphonic skills. *People can always find something to complain about style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif .

yes i agree. across the stars was played quite a bit, but that's ok because that song is excellent. but i also noticed that in the movie most of the songs from the phantom menace soundtrack were played which was quite weird. in the attack of the clones sheet music book, they only have 3 new songs in there "the meadow picnic", "the arena", and "across the stars", but i wasted about 20 bucks anyway, because i love star wars music. haha i'm such a geek.

I dont think that the repitition of ATS was anything bad. Isnt that what soundtracks are all about, playing the theme over and over until youre knocked over unconscious? I mean, I have a couple of movie soundtracks where the theme is pounded into your head that you feel ready to puke. BE thakful that Williams made ATS as enjoyable as he did or the soundtrack wouldnt be half as good as it is.

i agree that ats was overplayed a bit - but nothing that was way over the top. but has anyone ever seen pearl harbor?? they play that gay-ass faith hill song EVERYTIME one of them is alone with uh . . .that girl, i don't know her name. but yeah, Ep. II was nowhere near as bad as that.
anyway, yeah this soundtrack rocked. it had so many interlaying themes from other movies in the saga, it just all blended amazingly. i saw the movie four times so far, and everytime that last scene starts - the one where palpatine and his aides are on the balcony watching the clones board and leave on their ships (that look A LOT like imperial star destroyers) - anyway, everytime i saw that scene, and the imperial march started, i got chills, it was great.
but yeah, so many themes.umm . . .i heard the trade federation march, the imperial march, the emporer's theme, anakin's theme, i even heard a little of luke and leia's theme! it was just amazing.
o - i hav also heard rumors that john williams was going to go back over the original trilogy - for the DVD release - and re-do some of the soundtracks. not like a major overhaul, but just enough so that he can kinds give little hints of some of the new themes from the prequels a.k.a. ats, many others.
so yeah, sounds exieting (i can't spell) haha. late.

Rock on! Pearl Harbor freakin sucked! Hans Zimmer is like a god and I know he had a hard time workin with the lame Jerry Buckenheimer or whatever his name is.
I still havent gotten a copy of the three original soundtracks (kinda been broke ever since I lost my job), so I am looking forward to their re-release.

I really wasn't that impressed with "Across The Stars" the first time or two that I heard it. Now, it gets better everytime I hear it.
The "Tusken Camp and Homestead" is awesome because towards the end you can make out when he tells Padme about slaughtering the Tuskens (my favorite part of the actual movie) and the "Imperial March" begins to play.
I also like the "Confrontation With Dooku and Finale" just because it sounds just like watching the end of the movie and I can picture each scene as the music plays.
John Williams is still the true master.

I do believe that john Williams is the greatest living composer. He is comparable to all the great artists (of any medium), while we have him, we take him for granted. When he is gone we will all miss his contirbution to the arts dearly. I can only hope he lives to be a bajillion. And one. Possibly two.

I mentioned this on another soundtrack thread, but I'll point it out here as well. Near the very end of the soundtrack you'll hear Anakin's theme from TPM, then it blends into Across the Stars, then blend into the Imperial March. All very slow versions of these themes, but it takes nothing away form them. In fact, it adds to them, and it's just done masterfully!

Yea Golla . . .
I totally picked that up the first time I heard it. I believe I was listenin to it at my friends house for the first time and nobody around me acted as excited as I was. Williams did that perfectly!!

Well, I haven't heard the AOTC Soundtrack yet, but I heard most scores that John Williams has written himself. I must agree that he is one of the greatest movie composers ever. He has composed the some of the greatest movie series ever like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Indiana Jones. I should buy the soundtrack though. I think I would really like it. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bigsmile.gif

Uhhh...are you being sarcastic? The soundtracks contain the score for the movies. Orchestra type music. I know absolutely nothing about music, especially orchestra/symphony music, but I love the SW soundtracks. Loving the films to begin with doesn't hurt, either. :whatsthat:

I love the AOTC soundtrack! *And Across the Stars has replaced Ben's Theme (or the Force Theme) as my favorite. *Though I may be biased because I play the oboe, and that's the central instrument used in ATS.
I do have a couple of gripes about it though:
1- Not all the music from the movie is on the soundtrack (I know, they can only fit so much onto a CD).
2- The music at the end of the credits isn't the same as on the CD (no Anakin's Theme flowing into Across the Stars and then the Imperial March). *So, really, I guess that's a gripe about the movie, not the soundtrack.
On a side note: *Any one heard John Williams' "American Journey" suite? That's another great piece of work.

Luvinna- same thing happened with TPM soundtrack. Not all the music was there, so later they released "The Ultimate Edition" that had all the music Williams recorded for TPM. That had 2 CDs. I'm sure they'll do the same for AOTC to pump us for more cash (not that I care, I'll be first in line to buy it, I love the music).

actually i'm not sure if they'll have an "ultimate edition" for attack of the clones. like if you were crazy enough to just watch the movie and just listen to the music (cough cough haha), then you would hear that a lot of it is the same as from episode one. like the arrival to naboo is up there and so is oh man track 5 on the tpm soundtrack. WHAT IS IT CALLED. the droid one. i do not remember. ugh. but yeah most of it is the same. so i do not know if they will make an ultimate edition for aotc. watch me be wrong though because i usually am.

You gotta try to broaden your horizons. *There is a lot more out there than alt. rock and rap. *I like those genras and others also, but the AOTC soundtrack is quite entertaining, especially for a die-hard SW fan.

I beleive that they will have one. All of the other movies have had 2cd sets, why would this one be different? Now, I don't watch a SW movie just for the music, but if you pay enough attention you'll notice that music accompanies practically every scene. Now consider that the movie was 2hr and 24 minutes long, and the soundtrack out now is a little over 74 minutes. Well, there's a lot of music still out there. Some of it are themes repeating themselves, but some of it are subtle new themes that aren't easuly picked up while watching the movie. If you ever listened to the 2cd sets from the OT, you'll probably discover a lot of music you never noticed before. :whatsthat:
