* * We all know how you fell about the Harry Potter series.
* * I created this poll for us Harry Potter fans to vote for which book we all liked the best out of the whole series. All of the books named are the books that are currently out, and the book that is soon to be released. And that is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Warning:
Please do not vote just yet. For the time being, just post here and let us know what your current favorite is. Then, after the release of Book V, you may vote on which one you like best.
PS:
Mods,
This is merely a spot for HP fans to discuss their favorite HP book, and why they liked it the best. While my other HP thread is for the whole series(books and movies), in general. Please do not lock it.
This thread will be replaced when books VI & VII are finaly released. If I am still posting on this site, that is.

I liked Goblet of Fire the best, mostly 'cause this is where the story seems to start getting darker. It's been a while since I read it, but of the four books currently out, it's the one I remember most.
Any idea when the next one comes out?

I really liked Goblet of Fire cuz it really got me more interested in what was going to happen to Harry, since the other 3 all had fairly happy endings.
I'd agree and go with GOF. Its set up OOTP to be quite interesting and has finally got proper enemies with Voldemort and his followers now back.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was supposed to be out last July. They then pushed forward the date to the theatrical release date of the Sorcerer's Stone movie. the it was pushed forward again to be realsed with the movie onto video. And it has yet been pushed even more to the theatrical release date of the Chamber of Secret's movie. And if they keep on with this, J.K. could very well have her fans loose faith in her, and she will eventually loose fans. The publisher should very well know better about placing a release date. They should actually wait until the book is in the printing to announce a release date. And then, they will have no arguments about the continuing pushing of the date.
I keep saying "date" alot. "Goodness gracious me!"(3-PO)

As of right now, Goblet of Fire is my favorite, mostly for reasons already mentioned.
-Sen. Amory,
So, what is the current release date for Book 5? *You said around the Chamber of Secrets release date, which is Nov. 15. *Do you know the specific date?
I like The Prisoner of Azkaban right now the best. Goblet of Fire was more detailed, but the introduction of Sirrus Black was excellent. He's the best character in the whole series. Then Lupin is second.

Do you know the specific date?
No...sorry. I don't.
I even contacted Mr. David Colbert, author of The Magical Worlds of Harry Potter, to see if he had any contacts to Mr. Levine of Arthur A. Levin Books, and I am sad to say that he does not. I will continue to try and find a contact in order to find out a specific date or even an actual month. So, so far that's all I can do.
But the last time I checked on a web-sire(obviously with no up-dates), the darn thing was still in editing at Bloomsbury Press in England. I will also check with them for contacts to an editor or something in order to find out more information. And if they refer me to their site, I am going to rat them out because I have checked on their site, and it goves no furthur information that when Goblet came out. They realy need to have some up-dates going on.

This is a good reason why I would recommend a Print-On-Demand(POD) publisher to any authors who are looking to get published.
Look for my thread on authors wanting to get published. I will give you a link on it if you are looking for more information, or if you are just simply interested.

The Order of the Phoenix was definitely the best.
order of the phonix was in my opinion the worst book of all. It lacked rythem and structure and the story was a let down.

Grade Five teacher read the first one to the class. I HATED it. Caused me to not read any fantasy, with the exception of LOTR, for four years. I'm still real hesistent on reading fantasy novels. Either way, I'll never read one of those books ever.

I loved Prisoner of Azkaban the best. It was also the first harry potter book i read. I then became very interested in the HP world. But personally, I think book 5 made me lose interest. I still like it but it's no longer at the top of my list. Maybe I just grew up even tho i'm still young. (?) But PoA remains my favorite and I will continue to read the future books and watch the movies too.

CoS was my favourite, because there was an interesting development on self-doubt and mistrust of those closest to the protagonist. Quite unlike most heroic children's myth to sudddenly question the heroic archetype.

"Prisoner of Azkaban" was my favorite. It was the turning point of the series, the escape of Voldemort's servant which would lead to Voldemort's rebirth in the next book. It was the book where we started to feel more of an emotional connection with Harry as he learned more about his parents. And it was the introduction of the coolest character ever ... Sirius Black.

Order of the Pheonix is my favorite. One its darker than the rest. Harry acts like a teenager trying to find his place in the world. I can't wait for the Half-Blood Prince....the title alone has me curious

Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite book, and also my favourite movie. I think the use of ideas such as the Dementors, the Boggarts, and the Patronus, as ways of showing how Harry combats the demons of becoming a teenager and finding himself, are just genius. Remus Lupin is a terrific character, Harry first real "mentor" (Dumbledore usually just shows up at the end), and the ending, with the Shrieking Shack and the time-travel, is brilliant. Order of the Phoenix comes close, though - I love the Department of Mysteries and the Veil, the death is cleverly handled, Harry is a much more interesting and complex character, it's great to see Ron becoming more mature and Hermione becoming a lighter character, as well as seeing Neville and Ginny move more to the forefront. It also has probably the best opening chapter of any of the book so far - what a great start to the movie that's going to be! The whole tone of the book is great - a lingering sense of evil, but little that is truly explicit until the end.

Mine:

I like all of them but if I have to choose this is the order Best to Worst:
1. Goblet of Fire
2. Order of the Phoenix
3. Prisoner of Azkaban
4. Sorceror's Stone
5. Chamber of Secrets
It will be interesting to see how Half-Blood Prince fits into that list. I'm hoping it will take the new number one spot.

FF: J.K. Rowling has kept the book very secret. She has given some information, but nothing really on what the story will be about. I know this title was one she considered using for Chamber of Secrets and that those two books are connected special somehow. Also we know the Halfblood Prince isn't Harry or Voldemort. And I do believe she said someone important dies in this book as well. That is about all I know for sure about the book.

^That is a definite possibility. I think Dumbledore will die either in the next book or probably the last one. It wouldn't surprise me if a Weasley died in this next book as well, it won't be Ron but possibly Mr. Weasley or maybe Bill or Charlie.

I've never actually been able to find a direct quote from JKR saying someone will die in HBP. We know more deaths are coming in the series, but I don't think she's ever said someone will die in this book. Book VII could well be a blootbath, though. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Bet Hagrid will die.
Makes sense to me. Robbie Coltrane has expressed disinterest in continuing to make Harry Potter movies, and no other actor could pull off the role well enough that no one hardly notices the differences in appearance of the character (it was easy with Dumbledore, though).
