I personally don't care how long 3 is as long as you don't bore me in that time. GL doesn't have to sell us on Star Wars we will go see it once and by most of us 2 times. Give us the climatic battle of the Clone wars, the crazy never scene before Epic Final duel, some cool plot twists, bounty hunters, and the Jedi Purge and we are there.

I’d prefer 6hrs myself – but I’m pretty sure that’s just not going to happen. :p
GL does have to re-sell the film to a new audience. It’s not just SW fans he’s making the flicks for, but to the viewing audience at large. Some explanation of events and characters, while boring the pants off us, will need to be included.

The people know what star wars is all about. they know what they will get from a sw film. its the so called sw fans that critisize the films not the average fan.

McCallum has said that "right now George is thinking it will be the traditional Star Wars length of two hours."

I'd love for Ep. III to be a 3 hour tour, but I hope it doesn't end up on the shores of some uncharted desert planet with Darth Skipper and Darth Gilligan.

I'm sure it won't be more than 2 and 1/2 hours, probably not even that.

well, AOTC clocked in at about 2 1/2 hours, so with 3 having alot to tie up, i should expect at least 2 1/2 to 3 hrs, probably closer to AOTC length. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/saber.gif

To me...it seems that there is a LOT to tie up...I think closer to 3+ hours...

bugger! *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unhappy.gif

If it's only 2hrs there'd have to be a lot of loose ends - and Boba Fett definitely won't be in it.
I would have thought GL wouldn't care about the length, just as long as he tells the story he needs to.
Then again, that could probably be done in half and hour *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

He also said AOTC would be just less than 2.

He also said the effects in AotC would be a minimum, not very much. Well I don't know, but the last 45 minutes of AotC was pretty much the most SF/X in any Star Wars Film...

Justin

I think there should be an Episode II.5

Mann

And what about a Episdoe I.5? we want to see what happens to Sifo-Dyas!

I would like to see a cartoon version of Shadows of the Empire.

that would be cool

I would have thought pretty much the most SF/X in any film!
If you're going to make 2.5 then the clone wars should be about half of it. NO dialogue - just war

I don't think so all wr scenes could get boring just think of Saving Private Ryan. Everbody thinks its a Great movie but I was acting like that when I was 10 years old. Epic all out battle scenes are cool but 1 1/2 hours of it is just to much, gets boring. The rebal assalt on the DS2 was a Ideal battle sequence in timeing that is.

movies actually loose money if they're over two and a half hours long, which was probably why clones was cut down. perhaps we'll get a three hour director's cut of episode 3 on dvd though.

The shorter the movie the more showings at movie theaters so
don't expect it longer than 2 1/2 hours.

Hopefully the DVD will have a Director's Cut.

The directors cut will only appear after the dvd of episode 3 is released. After the release of the DVD box EPI to EPIII. Then after the dvdbox EPI to EPVI. Then de special edition of all the movies. The DVD box of the special edition of all the movies. Then the release of SW The phantom menace (the directors cut) in the theatres. Then the release of SW AOTC (the directors cut) in the theatres. Then the release of SW EPIII in the theatres (the directors cut). Then the release of the directors cut on DVD. By then it will be 2012 before you can see the director's cut on your DVD. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

ya, but they had a guaranteed audience who've never had LOTR realised on screen before - it was always going to be a cash cow. GL is still trying to appeal to the 'average' movie goer (if there is such a thing in star wars anymore) who'll take the kiddies along as well. Have you ever sat in a theatre for 3 hrs with a 5 year old bladder? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
