Here's the thread for Starwars.com. You can also talk about Hyperspace here. NOT the content, but the actual idea of Hyperspace, its features, etc. Also, talk about the official Star Wars online store can go here.
Talk about the official Star Wars site here.

Well it's the Official Site, of course it's fabulous.
Hyperspace is awesome, any big Star Wars fan that hangs around the net should have it.
They've been a little slow updating the site lately though... :~(

The whole site is just a little slow right now.
The best is yet to come from Hyperspace. We'll soon be getting More Before the Helmet pics, plus GL's selects, plus we'll get the post production webcam at the Ranch and ILM, and alot more.

You don't have to, you'll still get all the same stuff they had for Episode's 1 and 2 for free, but you're really missing out on the exclusive content, which isn't only Episode 3 stuff.

sorry Boss
I don't know, maybe i don't have the right to gripe, but in thi EP III new info void that we are stuck while the movie is currently in post produciton, it sure would be nice if starwars.com would throw some of us who don't want to pay for hyperspace the occasional bone. I just don't have the money to do it, but every F*&#! thing on that site that is even remotely related to EPIII has that F*&%# little yellow H next to it.
But then again maybe I don't have the right to gripe. Are there any reliable sources that are free anymore?
James T. Skywalker
12-15-2003, 09:40 PM
Well, for the record, here are the recent articles that are related to Episode III that are free:
Meet the Episode III Animatics Department (http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/bts/profile/f20031204/index.html)
Episode III Postproduction: Starting Small (http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/bts/production/news20031201.html)
Episode III Author Announced (http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/bts/publishing/news20031114.html)
And here's what we had for Episode II at the same time (Fall of 2000):
Serious Post-Production Mode (http://www.starwars.com/episode-ii/news/2000/11/news20001102.html) (November 2000)
Episode II Status: Reel Production (http://www.starwars.com/episode-ii/news/2000/12/news20001212.html) (December 2000)
And neither of these are including the numerous Homing Beacon pages that included a lot more information on the production of both films, which are all free to the public. So, you're actually getting more free at this point than you were at the same time back in 2000.
Just to point out some facts, as Paul Ens did when Hyperspace first debuted.
~JTS
(P.S. Of course, the Episode II author was announced in June of 2000, and the Animatics team was also featured in that month, so in essence they're a little behind on those two issues, but there is still more content than ever on both parts of the Official Site, pay and free.)

Anyone else already put in an order through StarWarsShop.com? I was apparently among the first 500. Got my scaled Luke Skywalker lightsaber replica on its way, along with the free Clone Wars promo card set and (woohoo!) the Return/Revenge patches.
I had an original Return patch from my fan club days in the 1980s, but it'll be great to have an original Revenge patch to go with it.
All in all, a pretty sweet deal, IMHO, for the $42 (including shipping in that number).

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Message to Star Wars Fans and StarWarsShop.Com Customers
Shortly after our new StarWarsShop.com opened Wednesday morning March 10, we received emails from several customers indicating that some transactional information on individuals’ orders had been transmitted to others. We immediately shut down the shop, because security of information on orders sent by our fans is our top priority.
Our eCommerce partner, Analysts International, has assured us that no one’s personal credit card information was compromised.
We are very sorry–and surprised–that this problem occurred. We are working closely with Analysts International, which is responsible for handling the transactions on the site, to find out how this could have happened. We won’t reopen StarWarsShop.com until we are certain that this issue has been resolved.
As a result of the situation, we will not be processing any of the transactions placed Wednesday morning. You will need to place your order again when the shop reopens. All customers who placed an order before the site was taken down will be mailed a free set of Jedi movie patches and a $50 gift certificate to use for Star Wars merchandise on the site. We will give the entire Star Wars community sufficient notice before we relaunch the site.
Again, we apologize for the current situation and promise to keep you updated. We know that Star Wars fans want–and deserve–the very best, and we will continue to strive to ensure that our high standards are met.

Yeah, I guess I'll still get my patches that I was so anxious for, and, oddly, the $50 GC, if it goes out to everyone, will actually be $15 more than my pre-shipping purchase price on the item I ordered, or tried to order.

Interesting. I wasn't here to get it, but I got a call from Shop.StarWars.com, regarding the order placed yesterday. I was given a toll free response number, called it, and found that it was basically a message center to leave info on when it is best to get back to you.
Given that some people who had ordered had mentioned that they weren't able to get the patches, meaning that they at least surpassed 500 orders by the time it was shut down, it sure seems like they've got a lot of one-on-one calling ahead of them this week.

Anyone notice what's going on at the OS right now?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Hey, everyone.
I've been asked to make a rather big announcement about some changes that are going to be happening on the boards soon.
As some of you may know, a significant number of unhappy users have been contacting Lucas Online regarding the moderation on these message boards. Due to overwhelming pressure, our "superiors" as it were have decided to conduct an experiment on the moderators' usefulness and the way in which the board policies have been set up.
Regrettably for some, happily for others, what this means is that for one week, the moderation here at forums.starwars.com will cease. For that time, no moderators will participate on forums.starwars.com and all threads in Forum Feedback, save this one, will be ignored. Any disruptive posters on the boards will be noted, as will the possible smooth operation of the boards in our absence. The other moderators are sure that most of you will conduct yourselves in a manner befitting adults. So am I.
Lives should not be significantly affected by this. At least, the hope is that they won't be. While some of you may be inconvenienced by the new order of things, it is quite likely that a board hierarchy designed to streamline operations will spring up in our absence. The key words here are, as some posters so eloquently put it, "keep it real". In theory, the posters themselves should be capable of keeping out the riff-raff.
Of course, it is quite possible that you may experience difficulties related to trolls and other users who are interested only in making trouble. While there will be no actual way to be rid of these people, it is the administration's belief that should such a person decide to participate in the discussions, the users will be capable of straightening out this person with a few well-chosen words. The Forum Terms of Service remain in effect, although there will be no way to enforce them effectively. Therefore it is our request that nobody contact the moderators regarding issues with the boards. During this week, there is nothing that we can or will do.
Let's hope that we can all maintain the integrity of these forums, and establish you as responsible people who are willing to do what is required to enjoy the forums without our influence. At the end of this week, the administration will consult with the moderation staff regarding the experiment. If it is successful, the moderators will step down and there will be no further moderation on these boards. Should it prove unsuccessful, however, there will be repercussions for any inappropriate behavior during the experiment. As noted above, the Terms of Service WILL remain in effect. I would therefore advise people to act appropriately and remain ... well, as normal as possible. The experiment will begin Thursday night/Friday morning at 12:00AM board time, and will end the following week at the same time and day. I'd like to thank everyone for your understanding and cooperation throughout these interesting times.
See y'all on the flip side.
Well, I'm out of a "job" for a week... or significantly longer if it actually does work out.

I think we all know who "certain folk" are. And yeah, he's an official spokesman for the company giving official answers to questions in an exclusive section of the site that is restricted to those who pay for content. Therefore, whatever he says in that area is supposed to be part of that exclusive content, and therefore shouldn't be published/reprinted elsewhere. That's how it works.
Just because "certain folk" don't agree with the stance doesn't mean it shouldn't be applied.

...basically, i love the OT, i love seeing pics from behind the scenes, pics of unused publicity shots etc and as I've been into star wars for at all my life (1st generation fan) i've seen pretty much all of the publicity stills and behind the scenes stuff over and over. So is there lots of unseen stuff from the archives???
as far as epIII goes, is the webcam a great video feed or is it a update every 5 minutes job?? is the epIII stuff any good??? can i view past images and released content or have i missed it???
...any UK fans with hyperspace, we dont get the Insider and this is reflected in the price, but do we miss out on anything else???
any help here would be hot style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

What Sam Kenobi said from Ep3:Spoilers Thread:
I haven't recieved my Hyperspace Acces Code, after three phone calls, three emails, and a post on the message board. What the hell did my $40.00 go to then!? I'm not trying to change the subject, but I'm trying to make the point that Lucas Companies need to seriously make changes to their customer service departments. Seriously.
What I said from Ep 3:Spoilers Thread:
I totally agree. I sent about 5 or 6 emails to them and all they do is ask me questions: What is your Postal Code? What is your address? What country are you from? Why cant they just ask me all these questions in ONE EMAIL! Instead in takes 2 days for one email to be received so I've been emailing them for over 2 weeks! I havent got any answers either, just questions. Now I'm just thinking of cancelling my subscription because this defintly isnt worth it, isnce I can get more spoilers and info on these fan sites than the official site anyday. :Rant Over:

It's been another week, and Nothing. I've made about three phone calls, and three emails, and I'm told to wait. My subscription started in December, and I just got my December Insider a week or two ago. I've already bought the December and February issues. Am I going to get a refund? My subscription started in December, and it's almost March, and I have yet to see any Hyperspace content. Am I gonna get those three months refunded!? I am going increasingly irritated at the lack of customer support. I hate to complain, but this is rediculous. No one seems to care. And I know I am not the only one experienceing problems. Is anyone listening!? I am a very big fan of Star Wars, and I hate to not resubscribe for reasons as stupid as someone not doing their job. Customer Support over there needs to seriously wake up, and rethink their priorities. Time for a wake-up call, guys!!!

All the more reason why I don't think I will ever get a Hyperspace account. There is no conceivable reason, that they should not be able to have an email/letter with your username and password out the door within one business day of getting verification from the credit card company that your payment has cleared.

The way they're doing it with the OC, it means the people in the Eastern US will see it before the people in the Western US. If they'd just release it on HS, everyone around the world would get to see it at the same time (provided they fixed those server problems from last November).
Plus, some see it as being forced to watch a show they don't like in order to see the trailer. I sure am not interested in sitting through a teeny-bopper prime-time soap opera to catch a SW trailer.
I think people are justified in their anger about the trailer not being on HS before being on TV. It upsets me a bit, too, but there's nothing I can do about it, so I just have to deal with it. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohwell.gif

I'm really surprised that people are still having problems. When I upgraded my acct., it took about 2 weeks to get the e-mail with the code. But, that was quite a while ago. I thought they were better now.

Sometimes the e-mail with the code gets sent to junk email folders and treated like spam. Have you checked to see if it went there?

I'm considering signing up for Hyperspace over at the official site, and I was wondering if my fellow SW fans thought it was worth the $40 US that it costs. I know you get Insider, but how good is the online content is my question. That's what I'm really interested in. With Episode 3 coming out, I wanna beef up on the cool behind the scenes stuff, so any suggestions or comments on it would be great!
Lunatic
03-10-2005, 01:16 PM
The "making off" Episode 3 documentary, and Pablo Set diaries are great.
Seeing the trailer and Clone Wars Cartoon before most people is cool also.
But the rest... nah.
Keep in mind that those webdoc will probably be on the RotS DVD, and the Clone Wars will also be on DVD. Do you want to pay twice for the same content?
Basically you are paying to see stuff ahead of time. Is it worth it? Depends on you. After EP3, I don't think it will be very interesting... except for the behind the scene stuff for the TV show.
My HS subscription ends in June and i'm not sure I'll renew.

There's a lot of new stuff added from today ...
It's better than nothing. $20 of your $40 goes on insider/fan club materials, $20 on HS ...
I don't get the fan club stuff being an international so it's the $20 HS only for me.
I'm pretty happy with the deal.
It's just a shame we didn't get the 10 minutes of RotS footage but I suppose I can understand that there's so much bootlegging going on that they can't do it. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif

Hyperspace: Summer 2005 and Beyond... (http://www.starwars.com/hyperspace/about/news/news20050428.html)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><span style="color:blue"><span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%">Hyperspace: Summer 2005 and Beyond...</span></span>
<span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%">April 28, 2005</span>
Episode III may wrap up the theatrical saga of Anakin Skywalker, but as you know there are big plans for Star Wars in the next few years and Hyperspace will continue to be your insider pass to Star Wars excitement only Lucasfilm can bring.
It was one year ago today when we launched Hyperspace: The Official Star Wars Fan Club, combining the fan club, Star Wars Insider magazine and Hyperspace online content features and benefits into one great package.
In this past year, members have enjoyed Set Diaries and webcam from London, "Post Notes" reporting from ILM, monthly webdoc previews, weekly exclusive sneak-peek photos and concept art from Episode III, celebrity chats, daily webstrips, online debuts of the trailers and much, much more.
We can't reveal all the secrets of this third season for Hyperspace, so stay tuned. But here's just a small sample of what you can look forward to in the coming months...
Exclusive Video
Hyperspace has brought its members Episode III webdocs, trailer previews, exclusive convention video, DVD previews and other surprises. With the secrets of the final Star Wars film revealed to the public this May, look for regular new Hyperspace-exclusive video with the perspective of the entire saga, archive secrets, plus looks ahead to the future of Star Wars.
Blogs
You're a Star Wars fan, therefore you have opinions. But how can you let the entire Star Wars community know what you're thinking? Start a blog! Hyperspace member blogs can be read by anyone, and starwars.com will be continually spotlighting best-of-the-best and random content as well, getting your words in front of millions.
Are you part of a fan group? You can apply for a collaborative group blog that can become the home page for your force, garrison, club, society, tribe, clan or squadron. As part of starwars.com, new members will have new ways to find you.
Look for Hyperspace blogs to debut in May, just in time for your Revenge of the Sith rants and raves.
Galactic Gallery
The sketches, paintings and sculptures from the minds of the Star Wars concept artists are so magical on their own, they have spawned museum tours. Hyperspace will take its readers through a new virtual gallery through all six Star Wars films, including rare finds from the Lucasfilm archives.
Star Wars Insider Archives
Hyperspace members already have access to the full online archive of Bantha Tracks, the original Star Wars Fan Club newsletter. Due to popular demand, the online restoration will continue starting with 1987's first issue of the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine (renamed Star Wars Insider with issue #23).
Hyperspace Webcam
Episode III production is over, but the famous webcam refuses to go into retirement. Look for it to make planned special appearances at the greatest events (like the Episode III MTV TRL Party at Skywalker Ranch, and Comic-Con 2005) and the most secret locations (like the Lucasfilm Archives).
... and much more
George Lucas hinted at some of his plans for two Star Wars television series last week at Celebration III. As production moves forward, Hyperspace is once again planning to bring its members the best access as the saga breaks new ground.
Stay tuned for news about more exciting additions, including exclusive video, exclusive images, trivia contests, leader boards, video game cheat codes, original fiction, contests, expanded StarWarsShop.com benefits and more.
Of course, your favorites will still be here: first-look video, webstrips, celebrity chats, rare fiction, Kessel Mines articles, rare classic trilogy images, exclusive forums features, Star Wars email address, "Delta Source" newsletter, and 24-hour access to the full Episode III content archive.
Click here to subscribe or renew today. "Traveling through Hyperspace, ain't like dusting crops, boy."
Honestly, thinking back to that survey we took, before all the madness started, I really wanted to see the Sabaac and Dejark games. But maybe they're under wraps still. Thoughts?

Another clever decision made by marketing execs to milk as much money as possible. Because it works. Do you have the choice to go with one service without the obligation of paying for the other? No. And that was Valins point.
If I had the choice, I would only go for HS, not the magazine. But as I don't have any choice as a resident of Europe I shall continue to "pirate" material. Because just like the execs, I can.

I recently had to renew my subscription to the Star Wars Insider, only to find that I had to sign up with Hyperspace simultaneously. Apparently, it is "included" with my $34.95 subscription to the *magazine.* I'm on the other side of the fence. I only wanted the Insider, because I've been subscribed to it for so long. True, there are some nice online features through Hyperspace, but a lot of the information you can get may also be found through secondhand sources -- for free. So, I signed up (admittedly not so reluctantly), but I would have preferred just paying $20 for a magazine subscription.

This is probably a good place to bring this up.
The OS has recently put up like a 120 shot comparison of the 1977 and the 2004 versions of the OT. Under each comparison, there's text explaining the changes. This is what was underneath a change of Artoo in ANH:
A strange omission in the 1997 Special Edition was the animated cone of light that extends from R2-D2's holographic projector, seen in the 1977 theatrical version.
So is the official site not privy to certain information concerning production decisions? Why would it be strange to them? Can someone clear this up?

Anyone respectful on these boards will never have a problem. Air your grievances but keep it respectful please.
Mr.Poe

Anyone respectful on these boards will never have a problem. Air your grievances but keep it respectful please.
Hmm...this will be tough, as I have no respect for the parties involved. Suffice it to say that a certain SW author signs up to several web boards and attempts to quell any negative comments toward their writing abilities, online actions, and misinformation. This author has successfully done so on sw.com and TFN.
This same author is sheltered by even the mildest criticism on sw.com by a certain moderator that is hypocritical beyond belief, labels everyone and anyone that has a negative comment to say about this author a troll, or "talifan", and has banned numerous people for merely disagreeing with this author. Both the moderator and the author work hand in hand, and constantly do a "happy dance" on sw.com when they take turns smiting the "6 to 10 trolls" out to "get" the author.
The funny thing is, the bannings and smitings number far more than these alleged "6 to 10 trolls", across numerous message boards. Sw.com seems to have become the private fifedom of these two, who also engage in tag-teaming efforts on other message boards, and in writing sw.com blogs filled with bald faced lies.
That's about as respectful as I can put it. Edit at your discretion.
EDIT: The denziens of "A Pitiful Little Blog" and the totality of Wookieepedia have also been targeted by this dynamic duo.

The mods would get payed over there wouldn't they?
That's proberbly why they act like complete poos.
The mods here do it out of there own time (as far as I know), and are willing to contribute to the boards.
But over there, they would do it because they have to. And they'd proberbly get pissy some times.

Only the admins (green folks) are Lucas Online employees. Blue folks are unpaid volunteers.

That wasn't meant for you but you can change your title if you like :)
And apparently, I'm loads of fun to the folks at Lucasfilm... from a certain point of view.

They tell us the checks always get lost in the mail, how odd ehh.
That's proberbly why they act like complete poos.
No we are complete poos regardless of payment, its how we roll.

If you don't make the quota by the end of the week, Pablo puts you in the box. It sometimes gets very hot in the box. That Pablo made.
