View Full Version : The Talent of Otis Frampton

I have just followed a link today from T'Bone's site to the website of Mr. Otis Frampton. Wow! What an amazing artist he is.

His ability to capture potential images from Episode III makes the wait just that little bit more exciting than it already is. If you love Episode III and Star Wars in general, go look:

http://www.otisframpton.com/Star_Wars_Gallery.html

I especially love the shot of Vader and Mace about to duel.

http://www.otisframpton.com/Showdown.html

Thanks Otis - brilliant stuff. More please!

I like his art work, great stuff, but I don't exactly agree with all of his speculation.

Really like the image of Padme with Jar Jar holding Leia, and the one of Anakin in the bacta tank. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Imagine a scene where Vader confronts a helpless Windu in a water filled trash compactor. I mean, wow!

Yes, although Anakain does look a tad injured in that picture....

His depiction of the Emperor is fantastic in that one.

Ah, we meet again! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif I know you aren't fond of my ideas about who delivers Luke. Funny you should like that image (http://www.otisframpton.com/Saying_Goodbye.html) so much, since it ties in with my theory . . see, the baby in that image is Luke, not Leia. That's Tatooine outside the window, and Padme is allowing JJ to say a final goodbye to the boy.

At any rate, that's one of my favorites, as well. I'm real proud of that one.

Otis, your work is superb. I so enjoy your talent. Do you want to know what I enjoyed the very most? Your mini synopsis of the fate changing duel between Ani and Obi. The art is fantastic, the location of the dual is very interesting, your script segment and dialogue is very good, your depiction of how Anakin receives his near fatal injuries is so well done I felt like I was reading spoiler material from the actual script and storyboard of Ep.III! Truly truly, excellent work. And thank you Gazelle for revealing the artist to us.

The duel sequence was fun to do, and I can't wait to see how wrong I was in my predictions when Episode III is released!

Where on earth did you get the inspiration from for that picture? The setting is fantastic!

He knows it. He's a goner, fer sure. But I have to say, I fully expect that we'll see nothing like this in Episode III.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Where on earth did you get the inspiration from for that picture? The setting is fantastic!
It was an accident. I was playing around in Bryce, making interesting looking walls, and came up with this "sewer" place". I had a boring picture of Mace I had done a year prio, so I threw it in via Photoshop, then painted in Vader just for fun.

You said that Dark Horse comics hasn't asked, but have you submitted any samples of your work to them?

Yes. It's not Star Wars, but there is an odd tangential connection to GL's baby. That's all I can say now.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>You said that Dark Horse comics hasn't asked, but have you submitted any samples of your work to them?
No, haven't submitted anything. I was being a bit facetious when I said they "hadn't asked".

Great stuff! I really like this style, and actually prefer it to the Clone Wars style.

More Bruce Timm than Tartakovsky, and very cleanly colored!

Consider me hooked.

And Mr. Frampton, NOW IS THE TIME to submit some stuff to Dark Horse, I would think, with the Clone Wars coming just around the corner. Go for it my man!

(And they should let you color your stuff too)

This isn't Star Wars-related, but since there was some interest in my webcomic Oddly Normal, I thought I'd post an announcement about the series (hopefully T'bone won't might a small advert):

After much consideration, I have decided to end my association with Girlamatic.com. I absolutely loved being at Girlamatic, and this departure comes with no regrets or displeasure about having been a part of the Modern Tales family. I appreciate all of the support I received from Lea Hernandez and Joey Manley, and I'd like to thank them for giving me my "big break" in the webcomic world. But I feel that it's now time to take Oddly Normal solo, so when the series returns from hiatus it will appear here at otisframpton.com.

Also . . all of the archived episodes which were previously behind the subscription wall at Girlamatic are now all available here, for FREE! So go check out the series now!

How's that for a Happy Holiday?

Also . .

Be sure to visit my site on Monday, December 15th for Oddly Normal - Chapter 1: The Special Edition!

http://otisframpton.com/Oddly_Normal/Oddly_DVD_small.jpg

I'm a huge DVD fan, and I love all of the behind the scenes extras that often appear on the discs, so I thought it would be fun to do the same for the first chapter of Oddly. In the tradition of great DVDs, the Oddly Normal Special Edition will feature the following:

-Creator Text Commentary!
-Special Feature: "Oddly Evolution"
-Special Feature: "Creative Genealogy"
-Special Feature: "Magic Words"
-Behind the scenes images and info!
-"Fig Files"
-Cameos!
-Special Event Episodes remembered!
-Quotes & Trivia!
-Outtakes & Bloopers!
-Widescreen format!

Mark you calendars . .

I prefer my Star Wars with a dash of silliness. In my mind, it's all about having fun, so I like to create images like this once and a while. No harm intended, just a bit of whimsey to lighten the day once and a while.
