Considering the invitation from a beautiful woman I am friends with on another board, to show up at a dance club where a highly praised DJ is spinning tonight. She's going there with her boyfriend and about a dozen of her friends, and urged me to go there too. She even posted that she was using a Jedi mind trick on me to make sure I go. I never told her I was a SW geek, I wonder if she is one too. Anyway, like mentioned in the Hive, a noisy dance club is not a good place to meet and hang out with someone for the first time, when you don't dance, and can't talk over the music. And then to compete with all those friends for her attention, with her having a boyfriend anyway, it just feels wierd for me to go there. Meanwhile, another buddy from LA who goes to clubs all the time and dances like mad, is urging me to get out and meet new people. I feel kinda funny trying to explain to Tony Manero that I am out of place in a dance club, Saturday night or not. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif

Don't go anywhere you're not comfortable, but I agree that you should get out there on the town. I've heard that US bars are just places for drinking though and not socialising

Well it's not just a bar, it's a club, with a few bars inside. But it's the action on the dance floor, and the music and skills of the DJ, that attracts the attention. I still don't understand how a DJ can become a must-see celebrity, when all they do is mix music and get the crowd moving. I guess I can see it, he's a party mover and an entertainer. So yeah, I can see how the fun of the night can depend on the actions of the DJ.
