I haven't seen the Star Wars Holiday Special (from the 1978?), but from what I hear, it sucked. *Even GL admits it. *What was it about and why does everyone think it sucks?

I did see Ewok Adventure and it sucked. *I hear the Battle for Endor is good, but after watching the 1st one, I just don't think I can make it through the whole thing.

Sorry for the old topic stuff, but again, I am trying to get caught up from years of not having anyone to talk to about the greatest Galaxy Far, Far Away....

I have always wondered about this mysterious Christamas Special as well, especially since it contains the first ever appearence of one of our favorites...Boba Fett. I believe that it was on TV in the late 70's (between ANH and ESB), and it was supposed to be pretty damn awful. Beyond that, I know nothing, having never seen it.

The only things I know about it is that it involved Chewbacca's family or something like that and saving Christmas. And then gossip stuff, like that Carrie Fisher was doing a lot of cocaine off screen during it and it shows in the parts where she appears as Princess Leia. That's all I know though, and its complete second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. hand info. I've never actually seen it.

I have it. It's the "Star Wars Holiday Special," actually, not "Christmas" Special, and the reviews you've heard are right.

It's horrible. The Boba encounter leaves MUCH to be desired, and really goes against his character as it was later established. They somehow have a Y-wing with an ejecting cockpit that becomes, well, a little boat basically . . .

Not to mention Bea Arthur as a Cantina owner, Chewie's poorly created family, and ::gulp:: Leia singing a Life Day song at the end.

Yeesh.

And, of course, it was on pre-cable TV, so finding a decent copy is hard. Mine's only mediocre.

I have it too. I down loaded it. It's ok. Nothing to brag about. Boba Fett acts like he is a friend to Luke only to lure him closer to Vader.

What's the behind the scenes story on the holiday special? Why George, why? Does anyone know where I can get a VHS copy of this thing?

GL didn't have a tight control of the reins after star wars came out - afterall, he had just made $300million. *The public, in america, was screaming for Star Wars, anything starwars. *Variety shows were the thing of the seventies so they made one. *After that, nothing got through GL's grip.
The Boba cartoon is pumped! some really funky french animation
Carrie Fisher is coked off here eyeballs, seeing luuvvv baby in everthing. *Which is just as well, cause she can't sing for sh*t !!
Harrison just really didn't want to be there, and Mark, well, you get to see what he may have looked like in Empire before the car crash.
I love it! *It really does make or break a Star Wars fan. *I gave a copy to a couple who said they were 'right in to SW', half way through they turned it off and promptly forgot that SW even existed.
Anyway, it's not as bad as the Donny and Marie Osborne Star Wars Variety Hour! *Kris Kristoffesen as Han - gotta luv the 70's!!!! *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I don't know where you can get it in the US but in Aust. there's one shop I know that stocks it -

The Holiday Special is from 1978.

I couldn't get through the Itchy, the grandpa Wookiee's sexual fantasy involving Dianne Carroll, I had to fast forward.

My son felt so sorry for me when he watched the commercials during the Holiday Special... he said, "You actually had to play with those?! Their knees don't even bend!"

You can get it on VHS at any sci-fi or similar convention. All video dealers have bootleg copies for sale.

Even though Hamill and Ford are wearing thick eye-liner it's still a must see, just so you can agree with the majority that it sucks.

I downloaded a good copy of the 9 minute cartoon with Boba Fett. That wasn't too bad (the animation could have been better, but it was 1978). I still haven't been able to download the Holiday special.

I have to admit that I downloaded a very poor copy of it a long time ago. I still haven't watched it and I am a really big Star Wars fan. For ages it was always something from Star Wars which I had heard about so much yet never seen it nor could I find a purchaseable copy. So I downloaded it and started to watch it with Chewie's family. It is DIRE, I was just sooooo bored that I couldn't even stomach to watch anymore of it. I will persever one day and watch it but it feels like torture having to watch it all. But, I know I must be strong.

you guys are frogetting the fact that it was the 70's - Variety Shows were the eqivalent of Real TV in the 90's. *Who in their right mind would ever like ANY variety show is beyond me, but when you put it context, it's soooo funny.

to Bliz
using your signature - It's only seems atrocious the first time. *After 7 or 8 viewings it becomes amazing. *How it ever got through GL's fingers I'll never know *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

I've got a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a taped from the worst TV transmission version ever.
Curiously the picture quality isn't the worst thing about it.
The holiday special really is terrible - worse than the ewok films.

The holiday special I found extremely painful to watch and I couldn't stomach it in one sitting. No wonder Lucas want's to pretend it doesn't exist.

And Blizzard your kid doesn't know what he's missing. Inarticulate, highly undetailed figures have a cool that modern toys don't understand and could never have (awkwardly adjusted *Jedi quote intended).
Confiscate those pretenders to the throne (avoid prequel analogies please wook) and laugh manically as he's left to suffer the way we did... er I mean enjoy the retro coolness of it all. Gwa ha ha!

I felt the same way about the Ewok movies. I rented them right before AOTC was released just because I couldn't get enough SW. Huge mistake. I never finished watching Ewok Adventure and Battle for Endor didn't even hit my VCR. I just wasted money. So boring, style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif! I may try to watch them again one day, but they are garbage. I just want to try to watch the Holiday Special so that I can see for my self how terrible it is.

Actually, BFE is far better than CoC. You might want to try that one and store CoC away for the next time you're locked in a dark room with only that tape, a TV/VCR unit, and several hungry rats.

Trust me you all who haven't seen the "Holiday Special", the one's who've seen it are right: it's atrocious!!! *I have a decent copy of it and have endured it three times mostly, and twice all the way the through.

If you're a hard-core SW fan and still insist on watching it, do yourself the favor of watching it alone. *Otherwise you'll be very embarrassed by it. *The only two good things about it are the Boba Fett cartoon, and the Jefferson Airplane video. *Yep, it's saturated with Seventies-ness. *The rest of it is torture if you actually make yourself endure it. *(Not recommended for the weak-minded.) *If "Saving Private Ryan" made you squeamish, this will make you puke.

PS-guess what I found on DVD today?? *"Hardware Wars"! * Haven't bought it yet, but hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to go back where I found it and add it to my collection. *I have it one tape but of course just have to have the DVD. (This one's a FUN must-see for the hard-core fan!)

A good place to get a copy of the Holiday Special is on E-Bay, they'll usually have it.

What about the Ewok movies??? I used to love them when I was a kid but I havent seen them for ages, might go and purchase them now....

Caravan of Courage, first appearance in the Starwars universe by a character called Mace I believe! - not windu mind you!!! *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif

Pepper: Yep, HW came out on DVD a few weeks ago, for its first run. Well, at least non-direct run. It was put out on DVD for direct order a few months ago, I think. Other parodies on DVD now are limited to Thumb Wars, George Lucas in Love, and not many others.

Lone: Yep, the first appearance of a Mace, albeit Mace Towani. You can still find them for sale in a lot of places. I picked up copies about five years ago. What's even better, though, is that a recent Ask the Jedi Council question suggested that after the trilogies are released on DVD . . . the Ewok films and the two cartoon series will be on DVD as well.

Lonesabre
07-09-2002, 07:17 PM
Thats cool but so does that mean that I have to wait until 2005 at the earliest to get hold of them? Going with the rumour that the OT will be on DVD after the release of episode 3?

Surely it would make better marketing sense to releses them in the run up to Ep3, the Ewok films that is?

I was so EXCITED to find a version of the Star Wars Holiday Special today and promptly hit download. I have heard so much about this rare piece of star wars memorabilia ands got myself ready for 90 mins of ecstatic entertainment.

My my my. It's dreadful. Who wrote this awful drivel? Why did they do this? I guess it is interesting historically, but as for entertaining.....

Don't tell me that some fans think that this is canonical!!!

I have just watced the end bit with all those unbelievable pithy lines and Leia is singing! Heavens to Betsy!

Just seen on a website that Lucas wanted to hunt down this video and destroy it. Well, that makes me feel a bit better about him.

Bring back "Caravan of Courage"...

It's one of the best variety shows that came out of the 70s. For reference, just check out the Donnie and Mari Osbourne Star Wars Special.

At least Malla (Chewie's wife) got a half way normal name. I think all male Wookies names most be shortened to an adgative, its one of those SW rules.

They all end up sounding like the seven dwarves though, or smurfs. I actually perfer smurfs a little chewy.

I personally think that the Holiday Special would be a great addition as a Shop.Starwars.com exclusive - something you could get on DVD ONLY at this online store since the demand would be 95% from fans alone. The title obviously wouldn't sell well in the retail outlets...outside of the mildly curious. Then again, it would make for a nice bonus feature on the OT DVDs style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

The HS just rules! So does getting kicked in the jimmies. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crying.gif

Somehow, the charm and the camp of the special make it better with age. I can tolerate it more than when I first watched my boots some 5 or so years ago.

It is an aquired taste, to be sure. Someone mentioned on a different thread that more Star Wars is better Star Wars. I almost agree.

I doubt it, because George Lucas once said that he would like to personally destroy every copy of it with a hammer.

pffft.. Bea Arhtur is the shiznit and no one ever said the holiday special was good, it is however cheezy fun. The cartoon is cool, the scenes with Bea are fun, Jefferson Starship.. i mean how can you go wrong with Jefferson Starship. Itchy, Lumpy, Malla, and of course our favorite characters so drugged up they are hard to reconize.

okay guys hear me out, these are my thought on this stupidly produced "special"

Okay guys, i just first saw this last night around eleven oclock so i am gonna write a book here.

first of all, what the hell is up with the falcon cockpit, its like all bobble headish, they couldnt even get george to let them use the original set of the falcon so they had to go and crap together somethihng out of a cereal box,r idiculous

Next, Mark Hamill, i am disgusted that yyou would let them film you while you look like some ass of a pretty boy, i mean with hair like that you could be in a boy band or something, come on man, was the money really that good that you had to let them deface one of the most famous science fiction characters of all time, and yo turned his character into a whiney *pregnant dog*, oh artoo, you were supposed to be watching that, come on man be the tough farmboy i know you are.

.What did they do to one of my most favorite starwars species, did they kill the wookiees and record the sounds of their deaths, these wookiees all soundd like they were dying, lumpy the most of all. And what wookiee can any of you remeber that would just leet imperial storm troopers come into their house and search it, none to my knowledge, it should have taken at least thirty storm troops to pull that off if chewie were home, but they probaby didnt have enough money to cast that many extras cause they spent all the money on Mark hamills hair spray...on another note, what kind of *girl thingy* ass wookiee uses a cane to help him walk, and what is the deal with his one tooth?.?.?.

.And why throughout the whole show are there these little dancing poeple in colorful outfits, and singing too, geogre what were you thinking letting these morons film this, you must have been desperate and obviously didnt direct this, this makes the phantom menace look like a LOTR film, spectacular.

What was the purpose of malla and that cooking show with the black lady that had a wig and four arms, lets just stir and whip and stir stir right past this one.

the bar scene was okay up until they start the singing, the aliens looked okay, and i liked the guy with a mouth on his head and had six fingers on one hand, even though its no wonder why the lady bartender wasnt interested in him, i mean come on he had a mouth on top of his head and could count to eleven on his hands.and am i mistaken or is that bartender the lady from golden girls.

Itchy looks like a frikin star destroyer ran into his face full thrust, what the hell happened to him, did he go to see the emporor when he got bored...and im not gonna comment on the lifeday presents, and the computers they have look like toys i played with when i was like three, what the hell

leias acting was also a painful thing to watch, they must have not been paying her enough, once again cause they spoent it all on hamills hair

why in all nine corellian hells is there a rock band in starwars?.?.?

the cartoon was bad, i first thought so because boba was acting like a good guy, but then i had a nice little twist to it,m whoever drew these must have been high off some serious weed that day.

I was also a little disappointed that there were no lightsabers in the whole thing...even though if they had them they probably would look like a flashlight or something...so i'm actually glad that they kept them out, cause i could not have bared it if they made that look bad too.

the only GOOD thing was DARTH VADER, he sounded the same and kept his dominating menacing look and aura

ALL IN ALL, i never want to watch this again.it was a flying peice of *physical act of love*ing *sith spawn* and should meet the same fate as the sun crusher, throw into a *physical act of love*ing black hole...excuse my language, i am sorry if i offended any of you with it, but this was just that bad, and my useing this kind of language is really a compliment to the hoilday special, it doesnt even deserve these words.

i own this sweet piece of star wars embarassment, hmmmmmmm , the only way to enjoy this is get really drunk, or whatever, you prefer, fast forward through all of the wookie dialogue, trip out on the horrid dancing, laugh at how high carrie fisher is, and the awsomely bad song she sings.

and fast forward through the cantina scene.

well now Mr. Saber.. no GL didn't direct it, as far as he is concerned it never happened. I am not sure where you get the idea that because Chewie is the strong, defensive character he is that all wookies should be like that. Especially an old guy and a mother with her young son in the line of fire...

i just realized i was defending the holiday special, it is bad, terrible, that is the whole point. It is something you own or watch (if you can) for nostalgia purposes and to laugh at. Stop taking things so seriously already.

Now, I for one SAW it the night it was on.. (Feeling VERY old)

Mercifily I don't remember much.. might be fun to see it again, if I can find where I can get it. Though it didn't cause me to turn my back on Star Wars, part of my heart and soul went into that universe when I was 6 and NEVER came back.

Though I do find the idea of Carrie singing to be a dubious proposition at best.

It's true that Star Wars as a television prospect has had a poor history, though I would love to see an anthology series like SW Tales become a TV show so long as it has the production values we have come to expect from the Movies. Also would need quality writers, it's easy to blame the actors but if the script is junk...

trash in.. trash out..

It would be interesting to see who they'd cast as established characters should they appear

I saw it for the first time this past summer, on a privately remastered DVD transfer from one of the old VHS tapes. It's tacky, and filled with seventies' goodness (or badness, depending on your point of view), but if you don't take it seriously, you can have a blast with it. I'm going to start a tradition of watching it each year in December, just for the heck of it (I'm going to pull a few friends on campus into my viewing this year, because they want to see just how random it is). And besides, at least you can entertain yourself by 'translating' what the Mala, Itchy, and Lumpy are grunting about over the course of the special. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Actually the Boba Fett cartoon had a really wierd "Heavy Metal" kind of vibe to it, which I found less painful to watch than the rest of the special...exept that it was toned down and made suitable for a family audience.

For the record, I picked up my copy at a con. Talked the vendor down to about CDN $15. Apparently though its one of the discs he gets the most requests for.

And yes, the next time someone says "Goodbye Friend" to me in a sappy, melodramatic voice, they die.

So, it appears they are showing at least part of the Holiday Special in Canada during the ZeD segment on CBC:

http://puppetvision.blogspot.com/2004/12/s...ial-on-zed.html (http://puppetvision.blogspot.com/2004/12/star-wars-holiday-special-on-zed.html)

I'm extremely curious as to what they're using for the source. This is CBC, which is the same network the HS originally aired on in Canada, so it's possible they might have a copy in their archives!

Who is in Canada that can tape (or better: TIVO) this thing? This is a must-see thing, and it's the first time major pieces of the HS have been shown on TV since the original airing!

This movie is such kitsch. It's so unbearable in the first half...oy gevalt. "ROAAAARGH!" and " You can say that again. "

The performance by Jefferson Starship was dreadful.

I'd say the best line in it is "I HATE FISH!" - Generic imperial.

This all being said, I too, like the cartoon segment with Fett.
GL ruined everything by adding him in ANH!

It did have some interesting points to it, such as, the introduction of Kashyyyk, and you also get a little more background information a chewie's family, and dont forget the introduction of Boba Fett, and wookie ceramonies. cant you see, without the holiday special, we would not have boba, or even Kashyyyk, which would blow the whole prequel starwars galacticbattle grounds kashyyk campain out of the water, and without Lumpy(hehe funny name!) who would swere to continue Chewies lifedept to han at the end of TUF? and where would the battle of Kashyyyk in ep.3 take place if there was NO kashyyyk? and what bounty hunter would capture han if there was no boba? here would most likely be no mandalores at all if it hadnt been for boba. you see the creation of the holiday special really was a good thing for the EU and starwars period in the end.

One of my friends paid actual money for a really good copy made from a master tape. She and her family would watch it and MST3K it. They especially loved to imitate dogs howling when Carrie Fisher sings and hits that really sour note.

She told me last year that she saw someone had burned it onto DVD and was hawking it on eBay: "I'm tempted." I replied, "You're shameless!"

Another time we were having an IM convo and talked about how hilarious it would've been if, during the Golden Globes tribute to Harrison Ford's career, some joker had included scenes from the Holiday Special in the movie clips portion.

Me: "Then they cut to: Harrison, hanging himself with his tie."
Her: "Or just sliding lower in his chair..."
Me: "Covering his face with his hands..."
Her: "Trying to crawl out of the theater unnoticed..."
Me: "Wearing a Groucho Marx disguise..."

When I still subscribed to Entertainment Weakly (not a typo), they had an article about a website that was devoted to showcasing the most brain-scarringly cheesy SW-related stuff ever inflicted on the public. And there was a LOT of it. I don't remember the URL, but the Holiday Special was on it (of course), plus the "Donny and Marie Show" episode where Donny dressed up as Luke and Marie as Leia, complete with cinnamon bun hairdo. I think the well-meaning but LAME anti-smoking public service announcements that Anthony Daniels as C3PO did for TV in the 80s were on there. If not, they should've been. Mark Hamill's appearance on "The Muppet Show" may have been on there; I don't remember. I actually liked that appearance, though many complain it's cheesy, especially when he gargles Gershwin with Angus McGonagall the Argyle Gargoyle. But IMO his appearance on "The Great Space Coaster" was about a hundred times cheesier.

Yes.

Yet I think it's how bad it is that is the reason I actually enjoy the bloody thing. I got my bootleg of it last summer and watched it the afternoon I got it. Then, last December I gathered five or six of my friends in my dorm room and we watched it while passing around a microphone plugged into someone's computer. We recorded an hour and a half of commentary, and it was one of the most enjoyable get-togethers with friends that I've ever had, and I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again this year.

Apparently there's also a Star Wars Holiday Album. I have not heard it, but it sounds worse than the Holiday Special, if you ask me:

No, it's not considered canon. It's labeled as "N"..."non continuity".

I own it and like it - I converted the RM file to a DVD format, which cleaned it up considerably (but still far from perfect), added some 'special features' from around the net, slapped on a custom DVD cover, and it's a proud part of my collection.

I think that everyone should see this at least once - it does get a bit of a bad rap because it gets trashed so badly.

The cartoon and Jefferson Starship were the best parts, in my opinion. Most everthing else was pretty painful, especially the "mind humidfier" (or whatever it's called) sequence. And, dang, Itchy is one ugly fellow.

It very much depends on how long you've been a fan and how old you are...preferrably a high combination of both. I did see it on CBS when it aired, and still remember that very well...but with time and age, I never really though about it again until someone showed it at a comic convention in '89 or '90, and I remembered that I had saw it so many years ago.

In many ways, it is completely forgettable, but in others it just can't be forgotten. It's like a fun version of PTSD.

Ah, the Star Wars Holiday Special...

Plot Synopsis:

Chewbacca needs to return home to his family for a Wookie holiday known as "life Day." Chewie and Han streak through space while dodging Imperial forces in order to get there in time.

Is this what the show is about?

Well, sort of. Only we don't watch Han and Chewie as they battle star destroyers. No, no. we watch his family as they wait for them to arrive.

Hoo, dirty word, ha!

All-in-all, it's not all that bad, but it's not really that good. It's cheesy. Plain and simple. It has comedy which is not all that funny, drama that's not all that gripping, and music. Yipee!

But, this special does explain some of the affection fans has for Boba Fett. Not all, but some. This was his first ever appearance in the animated cartoon. To be frank, it's not bad. At least it give boba more to do than in the movies. He had little to do in ESB and he was taken out like a punk in RotJ. Why fans have latched onto this guy who was killed literally by accident. Well, in the special, he's actualy give a role in the plot as someone who pretends to befriend our heroes but turns out to be working for Vader. This was pretty cool. And not too long after the Special aired, Kenner ran it's promotion for the Boba Fett action figure. Send in X number of proof-of-purchases and receive Boba Fett or something. This stirred all kinds of emotions in the young Star Wars fans at the time. 1) this meant a new Star Wars movie was coming, and that was just too good, and 2) this boba Fett guy must be pretty special is Kenner was releasing him as a special mail in offer like that. He must be the coolest guy ever!

So, anyway. That explains some of the why for Boba Fett love. Because there is precious little reason in the actual films. True, he doesn't act all that intimidated by Vader "What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot of money to me!" But there isn't much of that sort of thing.

Worse, the Prequels give us less reason to be impressed with Boba Fett. First of all, he's a clone from Jango (or however it's spelled) Fett, the guy from whom all the clone warriors/storm troopers were taken. That's right, every time a stormtrooper is taken out like a punk, that's another Boba Fett getting spanked like a baby boy. And Jango himself gets taken out like a punk. "Oh, let me fly by you so you can cut my head off." Oh, brother. I guess the tree doesn't fall far from the apple.

But, the Holiday Special is... well, it's not for everybody. It is cheesy as all get out. But at the time, it fed a nation's insatiable appetite for Star Wars.

I have become fascinated by this film. I guess that makes me either a true Star Wars fan, or nuts. Then again, I always did like the story lines of the early Luke around "A New Hope".

Ok, for a laugh, my initial impression of the Holiday Special, broken down to the minute: (Well, the first 50 minutes, which was all that site had)

http://www.xanga.com/DoctorClu/490795932/s...ay-special.html (http://www.xanga.com/DoctorClu/490795932/star-wars-holiday-special.html)

And here I start to break down what is good about the holiday special:

http://www.xanga.com/DoctorClu/491380782/t...-continued.html (http://www.xanga.com/DoctorClu/491380782/theres-good-in-him-i-can-feel-it-holiday-special-continued.html)

I need to find as good a copy of this as I can find. I think there is enough materials and ideas to salvage a good, enjoyable, one hour movie from the two hour special, and I would like to try to compile it. :)

So please point me to where I can find the BEST copy of this, please someone. You're my only hope. :p

Being a long time fan of the Droids and Dr. Demento, I got along with this album great. :)

Thanks for letting us know about this.

I've got this album and it's pure stilton forced through the marketing machine. I'm not sure why/who would put this on at Christmas because it's so very bad.

If you want it PM me and I'll see what I can do for you. Just prepare to weep openly at Anthony Daniels desperate grab for money.

In case anyone was interested, Baboon Man (http://www.starwarsholidayspecial.com/characters/baboon_man.htm) is the current subject of the "What's the Story?" (http://www.starwars.com/hyperspace/about/news/news20050624.html) feature at starwars.com.

I've had the "honour" of seeing the SWHS.

It was bad, I daresay it's worse than Shatner's album The Transformed Man. It was a bit worse for me than some people, because I'd never seen or heard of any of the celebrities in the cameo scenes. The best part for me was noticing that Mark Hammill looks like Carol Brady.

My review is best summed up in the following Wayne's World quote:

"Ohhh! Ahh! Turn it of man, turn it off! Oh it's sucking my will to live! Oh the humanityyyyy!"

My friend got it off ebay. Some guy recorded long time ago, in Baltimore. Still had the commercials. Then he put on DVD.

I haven't heard Shatner's album, but it's tough to think which one is the worse: SWHS or Corvette Summer.

When you do see it, be proud that you are in a club, a special one. To be a member of this club is special. And I agree with Sluggo.

Oh my god. I just watched the opening 2 minutes on from that youtube link, without any sound, and it was painful. Ugh.

Yes. I actually asked Leland Chee (keeper of continuity for Lucas Licensing) about this a while back over at the StarWars.com forums. He said it is considered S-canon, meaning it is canon unless another EU author contradicts it. And even then, only that element that is contradicted is kicked out of canon.

First time seeing it, Rolla? What do you think about Luke's look? And the rest of the special, hmmm, ....funny special.

I hope they release the song about love sung by a very high Carrie Fisher to the theme of Star Wars on CD at some point. It's quite simply beautiful.

Yeah, first time seeing any part of it, and I only saw the first couple of minutes so I can't really comment on all of it. That said, I did see Luke in the opening credits and...whoa! Didn't somebody compare that look to Carol Brady? That's pretty accurate.

I have a DVD of it without the commercials, and some friends and I are planning a viewing on a projector this weekend. I think I'll bring a bottle for us to share, to add to the hilarity.

Two years ago, before we were all able to drink, I had another viewing where we passed around a microphone attached to someone's laptop. We recording a pretty interesting commentary, which I wish I still had somewhere.
