I finally got to see it. It took an ASF Recorder program and some serious digging for the direct file URL, but I FINALLY got to see it. Cool stuff. I hadn't realized that it was literally a silent movie format.

SILENT BUT DEADLY 2

Comedic Silent Film Sequel Currently In Production

April 2003 (FAD Productions) -- FAD Productions, created and run by filmmaker Jeff Cioletti, is proud to announce that the sequel to SILENT BUT DEADLY (http://www.fadproductions.com/sbd) tentatively titled SILENT BUT DEADLY 2: LINE RAGE is currently in production.

SILENT BUT DEADLY is a comedic silent film parody starring two STAR WARS Stormtroopers who serve their master, George Lucas. He sends them out on missions that need to be handled quickly and quietly. In the original, the troopers went out in search for the leaders of the internet fan-based STAR WARS sites who were leaking STAR WARS plot points. In the sequel, they're sent out once again to handle yet another troublesome fan meddling with Lucas' STAR WARS franchise.

SILENT BUT DEADLY was entered into the 2002 Official Star Wars Fan Film Awards (http://atomfilms.shockwave.com/af/content/silent_deadly) sponsored by Atom films and Lucasfilm where it received two honorary mentions for the SPIRIT OF FANDOM and FAN CHOICE awards. It was also featured on the Sci-Fi Channel's TV special hosted by Kevin Smith which featured many of the entries and all of the winners. Creators Jeff Cioletti and Lou Tambone hope to enter SILENT BUT DEADLY 2 into the 2003 Fan Film Awards.

SBD2 began production on Sunday, April 20th on a New Jersey beach. The final shoot will happen on Monday, May 12. If you live in the New York/New Jersey area and would like to be an extra, please contact Lou Tambone via e-mail. For more information on the SILENT BUT DEADLY films, visit the FAD Productions website (http://www.fadproductions.com).

Very cool, T...

hey speaking of the Star Wars fan film awards as discussed on that page you linked... Did anyone find the George Lucas pick not remotely as cool as some of the other ones? The Christmas song about Plastic Taun Tauns?

T-bone
05-02-2003, 04:14 PM
I think I know why he picked that one - he likes technology and stuff. While I thought the film was cute the first time, it got a little annoying after that. However, I won't knock it. I'm sure the lip-syncing and stuff like that was a real ***** to do. It was well done and definitely deserved an award.

I'm vaguely aware there are anti-TFN factions in existence, but I confess complete ignorance as to what the beef is about. Last chapter, yea.
The usual plan with this is Jeff contacts me about 2 months before the freakin deadline and says - let's make a movie! Then we rush, argue, fight, kill, mame, dismember, and somehow end up with a movie.

This time, we're going to start a wee bit earlier and try to keep the hospital visits to a minimum.

Makes for a better film...sometimes.

Genius? LOL...
Thanks but I think you need some glasses.

Will it be longer? Hmmm...that's hard to say really until it's all shot and cut together. We didn't want part 2 to be longer than part 1 but it ended up being a little longer.

We have the story all fleshed out and we know what's going to happen but we don't have a script yet. Jeff's moving this week so it might have to wait til next week. These films are a little easier to script because there's no dialogue so it won't take too long, especially since we have the story arc and all that.

At first look, I'd say it might end up being the longest one but we really can't say. It's definitely got a darker ending although I think that this film will be a nice blend of the first and second.

After Jeff is moved and we do a real script I'll be able to determine a few more things. We have a lot of work to do for this Sept 20th shoot so we're concentrating more on that right now than anything. It's a huge scene with lots going on. In fact, we have some choreographing to do - fights and stuff. Scale-wise, I think it's the biggest of the three with the most going on - especially in this finale sequence.

Let's hope it all comes together...

jcioletti
07-21-2003, 04:13 PM
We'll have the script done in about another week. As for the length, as Tbone said, it's hard to tell at this point. It's very complex and involved, but it's also very quick. The gags will also be fast and furious (but not 2 Fast 2 Furious style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif ). Nothing's going to drag, so I would say if it ends up being longer than SBD2, it would be by no more than 30-60 seconds.

BTW, Trey, it was nice meeting you and Amy Thursday night. Congrats again!

Announcing SILENT BUT DEADLY 3. The film is currently in the pre-production phase and we're preparing for our first shoot on September 20, 2003.

Casting Call: The first shoot will take place in Northern New Jersey. We are currently seeking extras for a outdoor (small) crowd scene. What we need are people who have stormtrooper costumes (any variation is fine) or people who have some kind of Star Wars costume/mask that covers their features, like a cantina alien or something to that effect. Even if you don't have a mask or costume and would like to wear one that we will supply you with, we can still use you. If you live in or are going to be in the Northern NJ area on September 20th and want to be in the film or help out somehow, just let us know.

Here are some details on the shoot:
There's an 8am call to be on set for a 9am shoot on September 20th. If you meet the above criteria and would like to be an extra in the film - and can make it on time - please contact me right away to confirm and he will add you to the already growing list of confirmed extras. We hope to see you there.

Look for SBD3 some time in 2004.

Right now I'm physically and mentally exhasted. I'm amazed I can type this. I have what they call "prickly heat" all over my back, front AND face - it's disgusting. I think it was from being in a mask for a while and then just being hot and sweating. This damn shoot made me ill for cryin out loud.

As far as the cast/crew I don't have many complaints. We started out slow and we had around 90 shots to do, which is more than the whole first film - and this is just a piece of the movie, maybe about 3 minutes or so, hopefully. At lunchtime we only had about 20-30 shots in the can so we only had a few hours left and had to REALLY speed things up.

Eric showed up with all his masks and stuff and he did a good job making sure everything went smooth for me. The fight scenes, they tell me, looked pretty good but I haven't actually reviewed any of the footage. I did see some of the stuff my friend Doug shot on his camcorder for a little mockumentary he's going to do and there's some funny stuff in there.

Bottom line: the day was long and hard and it's not easy dealing with that many people on a set. However, we got all the shots we needed, I think, outside of a few we nixed because light was running out and they weren't needed due to some script changes. For the most part, everyone cooperated and things went fairly well. It's like a big long blur - we hardly stopped, just for lunch and only a few people actually stayed after for the party, but I don't blame them since they had long drives. Some people drove 2-3 hours to come down and that was really nice of them.

I'm rambling now but i'm just feeling weak...need rest...

It went well and I'll have pics up when I can on the site...and I'll be sure to put a few exclusive SBD3 pics here in this thread only. MANY people took pics this time. I think maybe tomorrow I'll look back on it and say - man that was fun. Today I'm just in recovery mode.

The hard shoot is over, the rest should be cake with the hardest part being how to get the people we need together back here on the same day! I don't envy Rick McCallum.

I think everyone will like this film, especially if you watch the other two first. Everyone's in it and there are a few cool images in there that I thought were really funny. More soon...

So Bone, when are you going to post pics from the shoot? And, when will SBD3 be ready for the grand premier?

Pics as early as this coming week, perhaps...

The film won't be ready until next year simply because we have 2-3 more shoots plus editing and music to do. It's going to be a while and instead of rushing it like we did with the other two, we're actually taking our time.

I have to admit there was some rather funny stuff going on during the first shoot and I know there are a few "images" that are pretty funny, in my opinion, that have little to do with the actual plot. They're just funny little things we did that weren't scripted and don't involve the actors.

Maybe I can get pics of that stuff for you guys soon - not sure. I have to see all the pics and decide what we're going to show. We actually have some major stuff happening so we can't reveal some things, believe it or not.

Okay, that sounds great. Now I'm eager to see what fun you guys had during the project. I'm even in suspense to see the results. I don't know which I'm more eager to see, SWIII or SBD3. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/satisfied.gif

Nice group shot.
A few people were left out unfortunately but most of the core people and extras are there.

We have another shoot tomorrow. Jeff's coming over in about a half hour to help set up for it and to do some test shots with a dummy we're making.

In the meantime, I promised you guys here some exclusive pics. So here's one for now that you won't see on the SBD site or anything yet.

Once I get everyone's pictures (AJ's, Dion's, Craige's and whoever else has them) I'll start to post them on the site a few at a time like we did last time.

I'll let you know how tonight/tomorrow goes.

I see that trooper in the kitchen apron and what I'm thinking is, "Can you smell what the Imp is cooking?"
T'bone, I can't make out the mask you're holding. Is it a SW alien mask, or something you designed yourself? Is that a spoiler, if you answer before the movie is done? And how do you aquire so many stormtrooper costumes? Are they rented, or are they collectibles owned by your friends?

all will be revealed in time...

Well what was originally going to be a short day of a few hours turned out to be yet another 8 hour shoot. All went pretty well and it consisted mostly of new stuff and a few pickups/reshoots of some of the BBQ stuff.

There's not much left to shoot now - maybe 2 more short days of shooting scenes here and there.

I dunno how they got em' but I'm thinking of ordering one from someone who makes the stormtrooper armor kit, you can get all the specs on that my sending an email title Stormtrooper armor here (frodounderhill@earthlink.net).

Fun and stressful yea.
This one is definitely going to be the biggest of the three, that I can tell you.

PS: We shot the turtle on the 5th as well and as for the stunt turtle we got on eBay? R.I.P.

Otis, the real turtle is fine and dandy however. He was a bit tempermental at first and didn't want to move but he improvised a little and gave us a nice shot we didn't have planned. Go Otis.

I'd love to see a sneak peak picture of Otis, or maybe the remains of the stunt turtle!!

I take it the stunt turtle had an accident?

T-bone
10-07-2003, 10:08 AM
We didn't take any pics of Otis that day. Don't get too excited, the real Otis doesn't do anything crazy.

And yes, the stunt turtle I call Sito had a fatal accident on the set. He won't be doing any more stunts, poor chap.

As soon as I can get a still of the turtle, I will but Jeff has all the footage. You guys should alert him to this thread and bother him to come here.

Cool. I loved SBD 1 and 2, T'bone. Do you have any plans to do dramatic fan films, as opposed to parodies? Or any future independent filmmaking endeavors?

T-bone
11-01-2003, 01:39 AM
I don't particularly like the dramatic fan films. I won't do one unless it's something I think is really cool and even then it would probably have to be an adaptation of something that already exists. I don't want to do "original" star wars films. I'd rather direct something else - something original or real and no something like sci-fi or whatever.

I do love directing and editing, however. It's writing that I don't like. I can polish things very well. Give me a scene and I'll make it better. But I just don't like writing that much. I won't sit down and write a screenplay. I just don't have the patience. I will, however, read one and punch it up.

Maybe that'll change - who knows.

At any rate, we have 3 more scenes in the can now, I'm glad to say.

Good news: No Jeff/Lou catfights. No major ones, anyhow.

VERY small shoot tomorrow in the AM. It's back to the beach (in December) for us. Folks who have seen the films probably know why we're heading back there...
