ahh yes one of my favorite T.V. shows of all time. I too grew up watching that show but stopped as soon as David Duchovny left, and they got T2. I still watch the classic episodes every day at 5 PM(eastern) TNT. My favorite episode is the first episode after the pilot "Deep Throat," and yes sadly I know the name of it style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif

I loved the X-Files. I just wish they had ended it on a good note instead of that super soldiers crap.
What about the black oil? What about the coming invasion? Why kill Krycheck(sp?) when earlier thay said he would be last man standing? Too many tthings left open and forgotten.
But I still loved the show and watched it from beginning to end.

yeah i understand.. my fav episode is "home" that was great i think it was season 4... i too stopped watching it when mulder left.. and im kicking my self now becaus i missed scully having her baby and the last episode.. i downloaded some clips which were great and i watch the re-runs on tnt and sci fi
i also hear that they are going to make a new x-flies movie!! that would be great! there is going to be a x files marathon on sci fi channel sept 10th ! i liked the x files move alright but i felt that they spent to much time recapping everything.... so people who didnt watch the show could watch the movie... that was bull sh*t
do you think william was mulders and scullys child? or was the baby half alien?
Jedi D'oh
08-25-2003, 09:48 AM
I don't think the baby was half alien. Unless it had to do with the exposures they have both had over the show's run.
It was hard, but I stuck through the show when Mulder left so I caould find out what happened to him. Still kind of disappointing. I did like that Skinner finally saw the UFO that took Mulder and was 100% committed to Mulder's cause.
I agree that Home is one of the best episodes. I enjoyed the movie, but they just didn't really get into as much as I thought. I have heard that IF they make another X-Files movie, it would be more of a stand alone story. I hope that changes cause I would like to see them expand the conspiracy story further.
By the way, I like your sig, snoogins.

I didn't become a fan of the X-Files until the movie. I loved the movie so much I started watching the show. I had always thought it was some kind of occultish paranormal show. It was until the movie that I realized it was more about aliens. Cool.

I got hooked and hooked bad! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif I enjoyed the series but all my favourites were the episodes leading up to the movie. They were all fantasic especially the pilot which is my favourite. One episode that sticks out for me is the Ice episode from season 1 where they get holed up in the research base in the artic. OoOoh I also love the episode with the occult and the frogs and anything with the lone gunmen.

here are the top 10 things that you never heard on the x files courtesy of some web site
10.) "The alien is speaking, Agent Mulder...I think it wants to phone home."
9.) "Sure, we could have these people killed to protect what they know...but isn't that a little harsh?"
8.) "I've seen this once before, Scully. His name is Casper, and he's what we call a 'friendly' ghost."
7.) "Look under the mask. This is no swamp monster. It's Mr. Handy, the ownder of the old country store!"
6.) "My Lord! This conspiracy involves all three of the Gabor sisters!"
5.) "Well, Agent Mulder, you caught us. We'll cooperate fully, of course. What would you like to know?"
4.) "You'll be happy to hear, Assistant Director Skinner, that I've switched over to the nicotine patch."
3.) "The president wants to see you two immediately. His cheeseburger is possessed."
2.) "And it would have worked, too, if it hadn't been for you meddling FBI agents!"
1.) "Gosh, I guess we were wrong...the government did have our best interests at heart, after all!"

Scully: "Well, I've been with this guy for seven years and I love him a lot."
Jerry: "Then why are you here?"
Scully: "I'm here to tell him he may not be my baby's daddy."
Audience: Gasp! Boo, hiss.
Scully: "And, it may be alien."
Stunned silence.
Jerry: "Uh, okay. Well, let's bring him out. Fox Mulder, everybody!"
==Audience applauds. Mulder comes out, takes the chair next to Scully. She takes his hands==
Scully: "Now, baby, you know I love you and everything like that. We been through a lot and all, chasin' aliens and what-not, but there's something I gotta tell you. I don't think you my baby's daddy."

Cancer Man: "That wasn't what you said last night!"
Audience: Oooh! Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry!
Jerry: "All right, everybody settle down, take your seats."
==All three take their seats on the stage, Scully in the middle==
Jerry: "But that's not all there is to this story, right?"
Scully: "That's right. I have actually been sleeping with somebody else."
Audience: Gasp! Boo, boo!

Jerry: "Well, let's bring 'em out. The Lone Gunmen, everybody!"

Cancer Man: "You actually had SEX with them?! All I had was a tender moment with a turkey baster! You b*tch!"
Audience: Stunned silence.
==Mulder, Cancer Man and the Lone Gunmen go after each other. The audience cheers. Steve and company keep the peace. Everyone finally settles in their seats==
Jerry:(to Scully) "But you're not the only here with secrets."
Mulder: "That's right! You're not the only one screwing around! I've been playing hide the salami with somebody else for the past seven years!"
Audience: Gasp!
Scully: "What?! Who? I'll kill her!"
Jerry: "Come on out!"

Skinner:(in his best drag queen voice) "That's right, honey! Why settle for the rest when you can have the best? This is my man, he has been from the beginning!"
Scully: "You b*tch!"
==Scully tries to drop kick him. Steve holds her back==
Jerry: "And now it's time for my final thought. Relationships with the ones you love can be difficult. But does the answer really lie with alien DNA or FBI Assistant Directors in drag? Only you can know where your heart truly lies. But when you're bringing a child into this world, it's best that both . . .uh. . .ALL the parents work together to ensure that child grows up healthy and strong, in order to provide excellent slave labor when the alien invasion comes."
==Stunned silence==
Jerry: "But until then, take care of yourself, and each other. Goodbye, everybody!"

I loved the first 6 seasons of the X-Files, but after the major story arc ended it just started becoming a parody of itself. There were a few good episodes scattered here and there, but otherwise there was nothing to grab you. The movie was really great too, and apparently there is a good chance we'll see anotherone, as both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are expressing a lot of interest. My favorite episode is probably "Pusher".

ok so i got this off of some website and
its different x files characters answering the question....
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Fox Mulder: No government agency has jurisdiction over the chicken. The chicken is out there, Scully, and we will find it.
Dana Scully: There is a logical, scientific explanation for the chicken crossing the road. We need more evidence.
Walter Skinner: You've got 24 hours to find out why that @!!*@!@ chicken crossed the road!!!
CSM: There was no chicken.
Alex Krycek: Because he can't decide WHAT side he's really on.
Byers: It was trying to escape the most heinous and evil force of the twentieth century.
Langly: It was on its way to the grassy knoll, dude.
Frohike: I don't know, but she's hot.

dr. seuss's take on cigarette smoking man.. i did not write this.. got it from a web site.
Dr. Seuss's view of CSM
Warning: Somewhat violent
I do not like you, CSM,
I hate you; you are one of them,
I do not like your cigarettes,
I would not like your pink barettes.
I wish you did not start that fire,
I would not like you in "Quagmire",
I did not like you as a Nazi,
I bet you were in league with Trovsky,
I do not like your blackened lungs,
I do not like your fancy guns,
The fat lady will not have sung
Until the day I see you hung.
I would, though, like to see you dead,
I'd like to see you shot in the head,
Or strangled round the neck by Mitch,(Pileggi)
Or lying face-down in a ditch.
How about anaphylactic shock?
Or electrocution around the clock?
A heart attack would surely please,
As well as swarming, angry bees,
When they return into their hive,
Then you can be burnt alive.
You traded your wife for that alien fetus,
Die, you fiend, of necrotizing faciitas,
Whooping cough, tuberculosis,
Spontaneous cellular mitosis,
Measles, mumps, and hepatitus,
Streptococcus, tonsilitis.
And now that you are looking jowley,
I'll go and kill Diana Fowley.

I miss the early seasons of THE X-FILES, when it was really good, before it got too wrapped up in its own mythology and forgot about to be entertaining. Although I was starting to get bored during Season 5, I though the movie would be bring me back in. But instead, it made me completely lose interest in the show. (And plus, I had still never forgiven them for killing off Mr. X. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/censored.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif )
I came back occasionally in the seasons that followed, just to see what they were up to. "X-Cops" was a fun episode and it was cool to see Robert Patrick in something high-profile again, but otherwise, I couldn't believe how bad it had gotten, and I could rarely watch an episode for very long before turning the channel. And the series finale, I thought, was absolutely terrible.
But those first few seasons were awesome. If the DVD sets weren't so ridiculously-overpriced, I would buy those ones. Season 2's "Little Green Men" is still my all-time favorite episode.

YEAH i have to say that season three was the best season ever! i dont really consider season 8 and 9 a part of the x files canon , except for the very last episode "truth".
although "truth" was a copout, it seemed like the writers tried to wrap the whole series up in two hours. anf forgot half the series!
you can get the seasons on dvd for half the price on amazon, used.

For me, it died a long time ago. The X-files wasn't the same during its last couple seasons. Even so, I remained optimistic, expecting some attempt to wrapup the overall story. It never happened, which I find appalling. All those years spent watching that show, and Chris Carter couldn't even attempt to give us a concluding arc in its final season. That destroyed any little interest that still had. I'm done with it. If another X-Files movie ever gets made, I doubt I'll have any desire to see it.

I really liked the X-Files up until some point in season 6, where I think the series got a little stale. I stopped watching in in season 7.
However, I caught an episode in season 8 with Doggett, and I got hooked again. And even though many fans hate it (because Mulder is gone and Scully doesn't appear as often), I thought season 9 was AWESOME.
I loved the characters of Agents Reyes and Doggett, and I thought it was great that they brought the show back to what it was in the beginning; a series of stand-alone episodes dealing with various paranormal phenomena.
That said, I hated the last episode where they brought Mulder back and wrapped up the conspiracy plot from previous seasons. I thought it was terrible and completely unsatisfying.
I wish they had continued the show with Doggett and Reyes.

As with everyone else here, I really enjoyed it until it started heading up it's own back passage. The movie was great IMHO though, and rekindled my interest. Then I caught some of the later episodes and regretted it. I never saw any with Robert Patrick in - by that point it had gone too far for me.
If there were another film (as Duchovny seems to want) then I'd def. go see it...

Yeah, thats stupid. I never could understand most "fans" disliking the Doggett and Reyes characters, sure I prefer Mulder and Scully but there was nothing wrong with Doggett or Reyes and the last two seasons.
Anyway, the movie hasn't even been written yet so who knows for sure if they will make an appearance or not.

I don't think Doggett and Reyes were really the issue for most fans. Like you, I think most just preferred Mulder and Scully since they were the agents we were watching for so many years. But Robert Patrick's a very good actor and he, in particular, was a great addition to the show.
What was problematic was the quality of the writing over the last two seasons. At a certain point, the stories started to get a little tired and lacked the spark of earlier episodes. I was really bothered by the evident lack of a plan on Chris Carter's part. He clearly had no sense of when he was going to end the series, and the mythology and long-running arc became a convoluted mess as things went on and on and on. And when we finally came to the last season, there was absolutely no attempt to conclude the overall arc. We deserved more than a bunch of stand-alone episodes and a two-hour finale that accomplished nothing (other than giving us a date for the invasion - the year 2012).
I had loved that show for many years, but there came a point when watching each week was truly a chore. When I realized I was forcing myself to watch out of duty/obligation, I knew it was time for me to move on. Right now, I have almost zero interest in an X-Files movie. Whenever it's finally made and released, maybe I'll feel differently.

Robert Patrick's a very good actor and he, in particular, was a great addition to the show.
Which is why he deserves a spot in the new movie if and when it happens.
We deserved more than a bunch of stand-alone episodes and a two-hour finale that accomplished nothing (other than giving us a date for the invasion - the year 2012).
That was actually the one thing I hated about Season 9, it wouldn't of been so bad if they continued on in a movie and maybe wrapped it then but we got nothing, it seemed rather pointless to tell us the date of the invasion and leave it at that.
I have almost zero interest in an X-Files movie. Whenever it's finally made and released, maybe I'll feel differently.

Well, for a two-hour movie, I think having three leads would be a little much. Patrick was brought in because Duchovny wanted to move on and Anderson wanted to scale back her time. With both of them back for a movie, there'd be no need to force Doggett back in. I wouldn't complain if he was in it, but it makes sense to not include him.

If this was a Voyager (or even Enterprise) movie, I'd feel the same way. But this is a TOS movie starting at the very beginning, so there's no sense of overstaying it's welcome.
There's no Berman involvement. No Brannon Braga. So none of my reasons for disliking recent Trek persists.

I was a big fan up until the end of season seven. By that point, what was there really left of the mythology to explore? The Syndicate was dead. The alien conspiracy was broken up. Mulder had learned the truth about his sister. Add to that the fact that part of the fun of the series was the chemistry between Mulder and Sculley.
My wife and I have started collecting the DVD sets and are well into season 4. It's cool seeing how everything unfolds in order, as well as how the characters were developed.

I'm not suggesting he be in the whole movie just an appearance along with Reyes, but I doubt either actor would be up for that. It would be nice to see but i'm not going to be expecting it.

Yeah I was a huge fan of this show... and I could be lumped into the "Doggett-dogging" group... but it was no slight on Robert Patrick or anything, I like him a lot... I just really loved Mulder and Scully and didn't feel the show had anything left after Doggett joined. Again, not Doggett's fault... just how it happened, so he got the bad rap, lol.
To me it was like replacing one of Abbott and Costello or Kirk and Spock or Jerry and George or Woody and Buzz. They just go together... Doggett felt like a third wheel... or the stepdad who never quite fit into the family. The stepdad was cool and all... but he wasn't dad, ya know? :P

They cut lots of stuff. Like behind the scenes featurettes for each season(The truth behind season 3 etc.), deleted scenes, featurettes on special effects. They through in a bit with the ones I got but no where near as much as the original release, it's mostly commentaries.
Jjm3233

I threw in the season 1 bonus disk, which has: The Truth Behind Season 1, Chris Carter talks about season 1, "Behind the Truth" (the FX shorts), TV Spots, and Deleted Scenes.
The Season 2 disk has: The Truth About Season 2, Chris Carter Talks About Season 2, FX: Behind the Truth, Behind the Scenes Clips (Which seems to have some model and FX stuff), Deleted Scenes, Promo Spots.
Both discs also have DVD-Rom content.
I hope that helps.

I felt just the opposite. They created a leader for the Syndicate (Strughold), who we never see or hear from again, and a massive UFO/ship/research lab buried in Antarctica that is supposedly the "full scope of The Project", yet is filled with growing aliens that the Syndicate only 'just' found out about.
The characters also don't fit in too well. Smokey/CSM/CGB/whatever seems grossly underused, they kill off the Well Manicured Man (why????), they introduce a Dr. Kurtzweil as a very important character in the mythology who just ends up as a redshirt, Diana Fowley isn't even mentioned, and Krycek is nowhere.

Yes, the first one sucked. So did (almost all of) the final--what was it, four seasons? Somehow, it seemed to drag on a lot longer than that. I'm not sure what difference it makes that the events in this film will postdate the wrap-up of series continuity. How does that affect the likelihood of a(nother) disaster?
Mulder looking like the CSM? That might be the very best way to insult him...
Indeed, looking like CSM. Like father, like son. It might insult him, but, with every reflective surface he encounters offering the same insult, how much real offensive power can it still have?

It makes a difference because the new film is set after the events of the entire series, while the first movie was set right in the middle of two seasons and sort of screwed with the continuity.

Hmm. I still don't get it. In the end, screwed-up-ness of the series remains unchanged, so it neither helps nor hurts what has gone before it that the new film happens after the series. Neither is it clear how that in any way helps IWTB (even the initials are...underwhelming) avoid being a disaster in its own right.
I just think It'd be interesting if the resemblance is noted by someone in the film.
It'd make for a nice moment. In my opinion, the only thing that can possibly make this film interesting is if the Gunmen return:
CSM: "Marita never told you what happened to Frohike."
[Yes, I know CSM is supposed to be dead, but--SO what?:) ]
Mulder: "Frohike's dead. He's buried in Arlington, with Langly and Byers."
CSM: "No. He's alive, and taking Scully out on Thursday..."
Mulder: "No. That's not true! That's impossible!"
etc., etc. Or something like that.
And that would make for a helluva continuity snarl....
