Monty Python and the Holy Grail is probably my favorite movie of theirs. "The funniest joke in the world" sketch is pretty good.

Definately Holy Grail

"It's just a fluffy bunny rabbit, how apsurd!"

i love holy grail, especially the Black knight part, and everything else, but then i like and now for something completely different! i love the part when they have the twit race at the end! "And oliver has run himself, what a world class twit."

The Dead Parrot Sketch which leads into the equally funny Lumper Jack. I love the movies, but I don't think anything will beat the Flying Circus series.

OH, the sex Ed class is awsome. If I have to teach a class I'm doing it just like that.

I don't recall that one but I do recall the sketch on some sort of Phys Ed. class learning to defend themselves from maniacs armed with fresh fruit.

I'd have to say Holy Grail. That's one of my all-time favorite movies. I mean, you can't claim supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you. Strange women, lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. I could ramble on with quotes but that's the first one that came to mind.

"Holy Grail" for me. Funny as hell!
With that out of the way, consider this thread moved to a more appropriate locale.

Alright, I didn't know where to start the thread so I just started it. Ah, I just saw "the Life of Brian" tonight. Great movie... wow.

The Philosophers Drinking Song always cracks me up. Speaking of the illustrious Terry Gilliam do check out his film Time Bandits. Midgets, Pure Evil and Sean Connery as Agamemnon.

I just recently bought one of the DVD sets of Flying Circus in order to discover the series for the first time. I bought set #2, I think. Great stuff! I loved the Twit of the Year sketch and the Police Station Silly Voices. And the cartoons are just great, stupid fun.

It's been a long time since I've seen that sketch from the TV show but didn't the Lumber Jack song come after a sketch about a barber trying to kill his customer with the scissors (I don't remember the name of the sketch)? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/scratchchin.gif

I love Monty Python, because I'm a fan of the stupid stuff. I can see why some people don't think it's funny, but if you don't GET it, you're thinking too hard. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

There were several versions. In the movie "And now for something Completely Different," it came after the Parrot sketch, but in the "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" and the original tv series it didn't.

Lol - The Philosopher's Song; Eric the half- a Bee; Summarising Proust; The Cheese Shop; the Argument Clinic; too many to mention!

I had on old Monty Python game on the Amiga way back when...
That ruled - basically a shoot 'em up squaring off against the Spanish Inquisition, etc. in A Gilliam-esque world.

I, in true geek fashion, have a crazy love for Holy Grail.

ARTHUR: Old woman!
OLD MAN: Man!
ARTHUR: Man, sorry. What knight lives in that castle over there?
OLD MAN: I'm thirty seven.
ARTHUR: What?
MAN: I'm thirty seven -- I'm not old!
ARTHUR: Well, I can't just call you `Man'.
MAN: Well, you could say `Dennis'.
ARTHUR: Well, I didn't know you were called `Dennis.'
DENNIS: Well, you didn't bother to find out, did you?

and I have a soft spot for the Lumberjack Song, being Canadian and all. But from the Flying Circus, nothing beats the Vikings and SPAM.

Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!
Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam

They're at it again. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/news/2005/07/20/20667.shtml)

I hope this gets shown in the UK. It sounds good. It's about time we saw Michael Palin doing something like this again, instead of swanning off around the world (which I do love, mind you). Kind of weird the BBC hasn't done this, but then again, the Python Night they did for the 30th anniversary was so-so.

I also walked past John Cleese last month! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif (is there a smug smiley?) I've seen three of 'em in the flesh now.

I have to wonder why this is a PBS thing instead of a BBC thing too...
