I would like to thank those of you that read my fan fic The Last Apprentice. I am working on a new story that intertwines with Apprentice and branches out more for Zane. Here is the summary...

Knight Trials

The decisive strike has been made against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Now the Republic must work to restore peace in the galaxy. The Jedi order has suffered tremendous losses during the war and the council faces the task of building the order back to full strength. Many of the older Padawans, including Zane Marit, are allowed to take the trials in an attempt to raise the number of Knights back to a level before the war.
Obi Wan Kenobi has been offered a seat on the council, but is reluctant to take it. His guilt of losing his former apprentice still haunts him. Obi Wan feels doubts in his abilities as a leader and a teacher. At a time when the council requires strong leadership, Obi Wan knows he can not afford to fail again.
As the Republic works to bring the Independent systems back into the fold, rumors spread of Jedi cruelty towards inhabitants of the Confederate systems. Anger and fear of the Jedi force Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to create an investigative commission to ascertain the truth behind the rumors. The Jedi Council agrees to fully cooperate with the commission and allows them access to the Jedi Archive, which holds a dangerous secret.

Premonition

Obi Wan Kenobi is leaning over a platform. His face has a look of fear and determination across it. His brow is dripping with sweat. He is holding onto something and refuses to let go, even with a constant wave of heat blasting in his face. Obi Wan is struggling to hold onto a hand, and that hand belongs to Anakin Skywalker.

“I’m sorry master. I didn’t mean it.” cries Anakin.
“Please don’t let me fall master, please…” begs Anakin.
“Give me your other hand. This one’s slipping. I need your other hand Anakin!” Obi Wan pleads.

Fatigue and sweat make it impossible for Obi Wan to maintain his grip, and inevitably, Anakin slips from his grasp. Anakin falls in slow motion, his expression twists from fear to anger. This is an image that Obi Wan knows will be ingrained in his memory for the rest of his life.

“You have failed me for the last time” echoes within Obi Wans head as he watches Anakins body break the surface of the molten metal. Anakins expression is still one of anger as he sinks deeper into the pool. Obi Wan watches as the last of Anakin Skywalker vanishes in flame and metal. Remorsefully, Obi Wan begins to back away from the ledge until he notices a large bubble where Anakin was moments before. He stares, completely transfixed, at the bubble. The bubble grows slightly, then bursts. Anakin, or what is left of him, shoots towards Obi Wan screaming with outstretched arms. Anakins face is charred and smoking, flames still dance across the top of his head. Anakin reaches for Obi Wan with seething anger…

Obi Wans eyes shoot open, his breathing erratic. He is soaked with perspiration. Obi Wan sits up glances around his dimly lit quarters, mostly to make sure he was only dreaming. His Jedi instincts kick in and he instantly starts to calm himself.
“Damn dream…It’s been weeks and I’m still having it.” he muttered to himself.

Obi Wan rises from his bed, wiping the last of the sweat from his brow, and slips on a robe to prepare a strong cup of stimcaf. Obi Wan is standing by his beverage processor, letting his mind wander as the caf brews. His mind flashes between his dream and the reality of what happened. Is the dream a premonition of some sort, he wonders? Obi Wans thoughts are interrupted by a soft chime as the holographic image of Master Adi Gallia flickers to life on his desks com unit.

“Good morning Master Kenobi. I hope I am not disturbing you.” Adi said with a slight bow.
“Of course not, I’m just having my caf now.” replied Obi Wan. “You’re looking well. How are you?” he asked.
“Very well. Thank you.” Adi replied politely, though she seemed flustered at the question. The deaths of Masters Windu and Mundi had a devastating effect on Adi and she seemed withdrawn and secluded from the other Jedi on the council. She spent most of her free time alone in her quarters or in the archives and had recently refused to be part of a mission to Alderaan.

“The council would like to meet with you later this morning. Would 0900 be a good time?”
“Absolutely.” came Obi Wans reply. “I look forward to meeting with the council then.”

With that Master Gallias image faded as the transmission ended. Obi Wan felt sure that the council would ask him to take Master Gallias place on the Alderaan mission, which helped him breathe easier. He wanted to be apart of this mission. Although no one mentioned the specifics of this assignment, Obi Wan knew exactly what the council had planned. This was a smuggling operation. Under the pretence of escorting senator Bail Organa back to his home planet of Alderaan, the true objective was to get former senator Padme Amidala quickly and quietly off Coruscant. Obi Wan finished his cup of stimcaf and began getting ready for his meeting with the council.
Obi Wan is dressed in his Jedi robes standing in front of the Jedi council chamber door. The door slides open and Obi Wan enters. The room is bright from sunlight shining through the windows. The skyways are bustling with traffic in the background. There are two empty seats in the councils circle. Master Yoda uses the force to lower the shades and the chamber darkens dramatically. Obi Wan bows to the council and they nod back towards him. The council has not addressed Obi Wan yet, and his eyes begin to wander over the council members. The chamber door slides open and Kit Fisto enters.

“I apologize for my lateness Masters.” he says bowing towards Yoda.
“Begin we now can.” replied Yoda slightly nodding. “Nominated for the council you both have been.”

Obi Wans eyes widened, but he was able to keep himself from showing the shock of this news. Obi Wan was sure he would be asked to take part in the Alderaan mission. Being asked to join the council was the highest honor a knight could be given. Yet Obi Wan, inexplicably, felt apprehensive to take a seat on the council. Kit did not move, but a small smile crept across his face.

“Agree the council does that you both are worthy. Dark times ahead we see. Strengthen our ranks we must.” spoke Yoda, pulling Obi Wan from his thoughts.
“What can we do for the council Master?” asked Obi Wan.
“We have agreed to allow any padawan learners that have combat experience to take the trials, if they so wish. Hopefully we will be able to strengthen the number of knights in the order.” Adi stated in a diplomatic tone.
“I’m sure Zane will be first in line.” smiled Obi Wan.
“Yes, he has been a valuable asset during combat missions. We are sure he will do well. That brings us to why we have asked you here today. We would like for you to oversee the trials and prepare the padawans for them.” said Adi plainly.

Obi Wan was not sure what to say so he simply bowed in compliance to the council and turned to leave. Kit was still standing in the center of the chamber as Obi Wan walked across. The council began to relay Kits mission to him as the doors opened for Obi Wan. As he crossed the threshold of the chamber Obi Wan heard “Alderaan diplomatic convention” and the door closed behind him. Now Obi Wan knew that Kit would be the one guarding Padme and Bail to Alderaan. He decided that he would have a word with Yoda on the matter. “Perhaps I can persuade him…” Obi Wan thought to himself. Yet he still had not known why this assignment was so important to him.

After the council convened for the afternoon, Obi Wan returned to the council chamber to speak with Yoda.

“Request to see me do you? Master Kenobi.” inquired the small green Jedi. “Wish to discuss your appointment to the council I think.”
“Yes master I do.” answered Obi Wan.
“Believe me, I am honored that the council feels I am worthy to join their ranks, but there is something that worries me if I do so. I’m not sure why I feel this, but I just don’t believe I am ready for such a responsibility.” he said in a somber tone.
“Doubt I sense in you. Confidence in your abilities you have lost.” said Yoda sitting unblinkingly at Obi Wan. “Wander your thoughts do on your former apprentice. Haunts you he does.”
“I’ve had the same dream ever since I returned from Mechis III. It’s always the same.” explained Obi Wan, staring blankly at the chamber floor. He looks Master Yoda in the eye. “You say that he is still alive, that the Dark Side consumes him. Is this dream possibly a warning? Or am I going mad?”
“Mad you are not, but difficult the future is to see.” Yoda says as he looks past the shades. Then, turning to Obi Wan pointing his walking stick at him for emphasis, “Concentrate now you must. Focus on the task at hand. Lost your apprentice is and now matters are worse. Let go of Skywalker. Release your pain and guilt.”
“I don’t feel guilty about Anakin, Master. He made his own choices.” Obi Wan said with a subtle mix of anger and doubt.
“Really?!” replied the Jedi Master in mock surprise. “Master Obi Wan, to feel guilt or remorse, or joy, normal this is. Makes you human it does.” Yoda said in a definitive tone.
“But I am a Jedi. I am above these emotions. I shouldn’t feel guilt. Or remorse.” replied Obi Wan.
“Jedi or not, no difference this makes. Controlled by these emotions a Jedi is not. That the difference is.” Yoda said, again pointing at Obi Wan. “Peace you must find with yourself or destroy you it can. Over the war may be but other battles remain. Sharp your mind must be. Clear your thoughts of questions and doubt. Your seat on the council we can discuss another time. Focus on your task now you must.”
“Yes Master.” said Obi Wan with a bow. “If I may master, the mission to Alderaan…”
“Discuss that another time we will.” Yoda said with finality.
“Yes Master.” Obi Wan bowed again and left the chamber.

Trials

Obi Wan is standing at a podium about to address a small group of padawans. Most notably present is Zane Marit, formerly apprenticed to Master Tarn Il Aeyin and briefly under the tutelage of Anakin Skywalker. Iluminara Undulis’ apprentice Bariss Offee is also among the padawans taking the Jedi Trials. There is a quiet stir among the padawans as they chat anxiously about the trials to one another. Master Kenobi clears his throat and all noise ceases as the padawans straighten in their chairs.

“As you know, the council has decided to allow padawans that served in a combat capacity to take the trials. This will be a significant undertaking and, IF you succeed, your responsibilities to the order will increase tenfold. Becoming a knight demands the most serious mind. If any of you feel you are not ready for this responsibility, you may leave now.” Obi Wan paused to see if any of the padawans stirred. None of them moved or made a sound.
“Very well then. It’s my job to make sure you are prepared for the trials.” Obi Wan smiled to himself thinking it was odd that he was to prepare the padawans for the Trial he had never taken. All Obi Wan had to do to become a Knight was slay a Sith Lord after seeing his Master, Qui Gonn Jinn, slain by the Sith Lord in a lightsaber duel.
“Under normal circumstances padawans would not have any prior knowledge as to what the trials contained. That was learned throughout your apprenticeships. However, the council feels that you should get a brief idea what the trials are about. I will not tell you what you will encounter during your trial. So don’t ask about that.” Again Obi Wan paused allowing his words to sink in.
“The trials will be broken down into three separate tasks. One task will test your general ability to use the Force, a sort of obstacle course if you will. Another task will test your insight of the force, how well you read what the Force says to you. A word of advice for this would simply be to let go your conscious self. Become passive.”
A padawan raised his hand inquiringly.
“Yes?” asked Obi Wan, pointing to the padawan.
“Master Kenobi, will we be using our lightsabers during the trial?”
“Good question. I was about to address that.” replied Obi Wan, moving from behind the podium and sitting on the edge of a desk.
“The third task I am not allowed to tell you about. But, I can tell you this. Your lightsabers will be available to you should you progress to the final task. However, my advice, is that you do not use them.”

With that statement, the group of padawans began to mutter amongst themselves not quite sure what this hint had meant. Obi Wan brought the padawans back to attention by clearing his throat just as he had earlier. Immediately the small group silenced themselves and gazed back to Obi Wan. Obi Wan rose from the desk and started to pace in front of the small group.

“Your scheduled time for the trial is already posted outside the entrance of the archives. Be at your designated place at your designated time.” Obi Wan was about to dismiss the padawans when a nagging feeling in the back of his head stopped him. He stood still in front of the group with one arm across his body and the other reaching up, stroking his beard. Obi Wans thoughts turned back to his dream that he continued having. His thoughts kept returning to the image of Anakin leaping from the molten pool of metal, of how he had failed Anakin. The phrase “You have failed me for the last time.” Continued to repeat itself inside Obi Wans head. The padawans began to get restless as Obi Wan continued to look at the floor in his reflective manner.

“Is that all Master?” spoke Zane beginning to rise from his chair. The other padawans remained frozen to their chairs waiting to be dismissed. Zanes question had brought Obi Wan back to the classroom. “Was this what Master Yoda had meant about focusing on my task?” Obi Wan thought to himself. Doubt and dread began to take hold of his thoughts Obi Wans eyes closed tightly. When he opened them, the thoughts of dread had subsided.

“Sorry.” he said in a low tone, as if awaking from a dream. “Just one last bit of advice before you are all dismissed. Don’t think, feel. Allow the Force to guide you. Remember that a Jedi remains calm and passive. You all may go now. And may the Force be with you.”

The padawans all rose from their seats and filed out of the room single file, bowing slightly towards Obi Wan as they left. Obi Wan remained bowed until the last padawan left the room.

CORUSCANT – SUPREME CHANCELLORS OFFICE

Masters Yoda and Gallia are seated in the opulent and spacious office of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. The Chancellor is seated in his high backed chair peering at the two Jedi before him. Chancellor Palpatine pushes a button on his desk and a holo viewer rises onto his desktop.

“Master Yoda.” the Supreme Chancellor says in a low voice. “Something has come to my attention that I want you to see.” With that the Supreme Chancellor pushed another small button and an image flickered to life on the viewer. It is an image of a Jedi with long flowing black hair, his back to the recorder, lightsaber in his hand. The audio is fuzzy but the Jedi can be heard yelling orders to what appears to be civilians on the side of a street. “…moving…supplies.. NOW!....” The crowd is fearful as the Jedi animatedly continues to yell at them and they move even closer against the wall behind them. A clone trooper commander steps to the left side of the Jedi and leans in to speak to him. “…don’t…other way….” The Jedi slightly turns his head towards the clone trooper and points at the small crowd of civilians huddled against the stone wall. “….new motivation…don’t care….an ORDER!” The clone trooper turns and leaves, shaking his head. A small Bith child runs from the wall towards the Jedi. The Jedi uses the Force to lift the child, then pushes him into the wall. The impact of the Bith hitting the wall is heard in the audio, as well as the stunned gasps of the civilians witnessing this act. As the young Biths limp body slides towards the ground an adult Bith and a Twi’Lek male rise to rush towards the Jedi. The Jedis lightsaber hums to life as a green blade springs from its pommel. The two males stop, as if to debate whether to charge the Jedi, when multiple red bolts fly at the crowd. The troopers make quick work of the civilians as the sound of the blasters stop almost as quickly as they were heard. The image on the holo drops and tilts dramatically, as if the recorder was dropped, and the Jedis boot comes closer in the image. The boot rises in the air then drops straight into the image. The recording is over.

The Supreme Chancellor pushes the button that lowers the holo viewer back into his desk as he gazes at the two Jedi seated before him. Adi Gallias mouth is covered by her hands, her eyes wide with shock. Yoda is solemn, but keeps a steady gaze at the Supreme Chancellor.
“I know this is an absurd question, but you know that I must ask it Master Yoda.” spoke the Chancellor.
“No.” said Yoda before the Chancellor could continue. “Know this Jedi, I do not. But find out I will.” continued Yoda in a sedated tone.
“How do we know for sure that was a Jedi Knight?” asked Adi.
“I assure you that this recording is authentic. I have had my staff examine it most stringently. The real question here is not only who, but why?” questioned the Supreme Chancellor. He rises from behind his desk and begins to pace in front of the large window overlooking what seems like all of Coruscant.
“I don’t presume to question the Jedi on their moral character, after all the Jedi have protected the Republic and its citizens for thousands of years. But still rumors have surfaced of other similar scenes like this.” said the Chancellor, pointing at the small holo disk. “If this gets on to the HoloNet and the rest of the Republic were to see this, it would cause absolute pandemonium. What I do need to know Master Yoda, was this an individual occurrence, or were there truly more of these? Did you know of this?
“Acts of a Jedi this is not. To the bottom of this I will get.” said Yoda.
“Well it is possible one of your knights acted on his own. After all Jedi are not soldiers. Perhaps the stress of combat impaired his ability to act reasonably.” said Palpatine in a diplomatic tone. “Never the less, this is something we definitely do not wish to become public knowledge. I will put together a small commission to investigate this matter quickly and quietly. Of course, any help you can provide Master Yoda would be most beneficial.” said Palpatine with a slightly pleading voice.
“Assist you Master Gallia will.” replied Yoda, looking at Adi. She nodded to Yoda accepting this task.
“I will help the Supreme Chancellor any way that I can.” she said with a bow. A small smile creeps across the Supreme Chancellors face.
“Excellent. Please keep me up to date on your findings and if you need anything, all you need do is ask.” Palpatine said taking his seat again.

Taking their cue from the Supreme Chancellor, both Jedi bowed to him, turn and exit his office. Once outside Palpatines office, Master Gallia begins to address Master Yoda about the scene they had witnessed inside the Chancellors office. However, before she can begin, almost as if Yoda knows the questions are coming, he stops her short. “Now the time is not.” he said to her. Master Gallia nodded at this in understanding. Adi strolled along in graceful steps, Master Yoda floating beside her at shoulder height. Together the two Jedi leave the Chancellors building and enter the hustle and bustle that is Coruscant.

JEDI TEMPLE

The two Jedi have returned to the temple and are strolling through a great hall. Now feeling more secure Adi turns to Master Yoda. “Do you really believe that was a Jedi in that holo?” she asks.
“Yes, but who or for what purpose, know that I do not.” replied Yoda still gazing ahead.
“I feel that there is something not right with that holo. The circumstances seem very suspicious to me.” said Adi almost to herself.
“Plotting against us someone is. That is why the recording exists. A tool it is, nothing more. The Dark Side I sense in this. Mistrust it will create. Ready we must be. Ready with the truth.” said Yoda thoughtfully.
“We will have to send someone to Dantooine to investigate this.” stated Adi.
“Brief Master Fisto and Ruun Lah on this immediately.” ordered Yoda.
“Is this wise, Master?” asked Adi. “Kit is to escort Senator Organa to the diplomatic convention on Alderaan soon. I will go if you need.”
“Done soon will Master Obi Wan be with the trials. Master Fistos place he can take.” Yoda replied, eyes closed as if in deep thought. “Here you will stay. Help the Chancellors commission you must.”
“Most important this matter is…Create our own commission to investigate this I think.” Yoda said slyly.

JEDI TEMPLE (TRIAL GROUNDS)

Zane Marit steps through sliding doors and into a dimly lit room. Master Obi Wan is waiting for him by another doorway a few meters ahead. The room is square and twenty small holo pictures hang on the left wall. A small rectangular plaque is centered below all of the holo pics. Zane steps and faces the holo pics. He takes a moment to gaze upon all the various pictures and freezes on a holo of a distinguished looking human male. The man in this picture has a piercing gaze and short jet black hair. The man appears to only be a few years older than Zane himself but has a look of deep experience. Something seems very familiar about him.
“That’s Dooku.” Obi Wan said finally, a twinge of anger in his tone. “Read the plaque.” he said to Zane while pointing at it nonchalantly. Zane glanced down, and on the plaque was this.

May the Force guide those who leave. May their destiny bring them home.

“These Jedi are the Lost Twenty.” said Obi Wan matter of factly. “They have all left the order. Only Dooku was ever heard from after he left the order. And we know how that turned out.”
“Why did they all leave Master?” inquired Zane.
“”They all had their own reasons I am sure.” replied Obi Wan. “I left the order briefly when I was a padawan learner.” Obi Wan said in a reflective tone. “But I quickly realized that my destiny lay in the order. Not everyone that trains as a Jedi is on their correct path. That is why we have this little reminder here, before a padawan takes the trials. The life of a Jedi is difficult and only for the most serious of minds. Not everyone realizes that. This serves as a small reminder of the commitment the order expects of its knights.”
“I know that my path is as a Jedi Knight. I will not fail.” said Zane in a determined tone.
“You remind me of myself when I was a padawan, Zane.” Obi Wan chuckled. “I knew Master Aeyin, not well but, knew that he was a good man and a great knight. He would be very proud of you today Zane. You’re ready.” Obi Wan placed one hand on Zanes shoulder bracingly and shook Zanes hand with the other. “I will need that though.” said Obi Wan pointing to Zanes lightsaber.
“Yeah…Sorry. I forgot.” replied Zane as he handed over his lightsaber.

Zane then turned and entered the doorway past Obi Wan. The doors automatically closed behind him as he enters a corridor darker than the room he just left. The corridor has brown and beige stone walls that are lit by torches spaced out approximately ten meters apart. Light dances off the walls as Zane continues down the corridor, his nerves starting to get the better of him as he begins to perspire. He stops walking and takes a deep breath. He clears his thoughts and begins to calm himself using Jedi techniques. A moment passes. Then another. Zane now feels calm and relaxed and proceeds down the corridor.
Zane has walked for what seems like hours though he knows it has only been minutes as he approaches a solid stone door. A small red button flashes on a panel to the left of the door. Zane reflexively pushes the red button without thought. Nothing happens. Again Zane pushes the button, and again nothing happens. Zane then holds the button in, but still the door will not open. Frustration starts to course through Zane, but he catches his emotions starting to rise and again calms himself. He takes a step back from the door and glances left , up, right, and then down. Zane notices a square stone sticking up from the floor. Just beyond the square is a solid stone column that stands three feet short of the ceiling. Zane uses the Force to lift the stone column into the air and places it onto the stone square. The stone sinks under the weight of the column and the door in front of Zane begins to lift.
Zane passes through the doorway and into a large chamber. He walks down a set of long stone steps. The chamber has large stone tiles on the floor that lead to another set of stone steps. Just beyond the landing is a durasteel gate. Before Zane approaches the gate, he again takes in his surroundings. Lined along the walls hang various gargoyle heads with wide mouths. Zane concentrates and can hear the sound of a steady drip. He examines the heads closely and notices that each head has a steady drop of water leaking from it. Zane thinks for a moment and begins to look for a handle to turn the water on. He can not find any switch or handle and begins to cross the stone tiled floor to see if there is a switch by the gate. As he approaches the second set of stairs a blast of heat and flame shoot out across his path, blocking him from the steps.
Zane backs away from the steps and the wall of flame dissipates. Zane stands confused for a moment still looking at the heads lined along the wall. Almost more of a guess than finding any logic or reason, Zane uses the Force to push a gargoyle head. The head slides further into the wall and water starts to freely flow from its mouth. Zane repeats the process along each side and the room quickly fills with water. Zane climbs back up the steps on the side he entered on and watches the room fill. The water reaches close to the top of the steps when the heads on the wall stop the flowing water. The water begins to get choppy and a low rumbling noise is made as two of the tiles rise to the surface. Zane leaps on the two tiles and lands near the gate, which is now open.
Zane steps into a long narrow corridor and sees another gate thirty meters away. As he walks into the corridor the gate starts to close. Using the Force to increase his speed, Zane runs towards the closing gate. Zane is just a few meters away and he realizes that he may not make it before the gate closes. He dives forward and slides the few remaining meters under the gate, just getting his legs inside as the gate closes. “That was fun.” he says to himself while swatting the dust off his tunic.
Zane enters a small dark room that is very cold. Zane shivers a bit and rubs his hands together to warm them. There are two pedestals side by side in one corner. As Zane approaches them, the outer pedestal emits a beam of blue light. The image of a Jedi appears within the light and addresses Zane.
“Congratulations on passing your first task padawan. Welcome to the second.” bowed the Jedi.
Zane bows in return. Zane does not recognize the Jedi in the holo and begins to wonder who he is.
“Do not let your mind wander now, padawan.” spoke the Jedi. “Clear you mind of questions. Open yourself to the Force. Open yourself to me.” The Jedi lowered his head in concentration. “Everything about you I can see. You are an open book to me.” continued the Jedi.
Zane closes his eyes and allows himself to relax. Slowly he tunes out the holo as he taps deeper into the Force. Zane sees the key moments of his life flash in his mind. The moment he found out he would be allowed to take the trials. Feeling the dark presence with Anakin Skywalker aboard the Trade Federation flagship. Seeing his former master die in combat on Bogden, his worst memory. Other images flash into his mind flooding him to the brink of consciousness. Slowly the world comes back into focus for Zane and he sees the hazy blue image of the Jedi. Zane closes his eye tightly and shakes his head to help clear his vision.

“You have done well padawan. And now I ask you one question.” stated the Jedi. “If you could change any event in your life, what would it be?”

Zane reflected for a moment and was about to blurt out that he would want to see Master Aeyin survive on Bogden. Zane hesitated for a brief moment, drawing on the Force for guidance. “Well?” he heard the Jedi ask patiently. Finally Zane felt he had his answer. He gazed into the holographic Jedis eyes and said, “Nothing.” in a plain tone.
“And why is that?” inquired the blue holo.
“We can not change the past. Hoping to do so only takes away from the here and now. And, all things happen for a reason. It is the will of the Force.”
“You may proceed padawan. May the Force be with you.” nodded the Jedi.

As the blue light flickered and died out, the second pedestal is highlighted by a golden beam. A small door on the top of the pedestal slides open. The silver handle of Zanes lightsaber slowly emerges horizontally from within the pedestal. At the same time a hidden door within the wall opens. Zane takes his lightsaber from the pedestal and clips it to his belt as he walks through the hidden entrance.
Zane enters what appears to be an outdoor trail. He is on a path and trees and mountains border the trail. He moves forward up the trail and he suddenly realizes where he is. He is on Bogden. He knows just beyond this path is the landing platform where his master died in an explosion. A sense of dread takes hold of Zane as he cautiously continues up the path. Zane instinctively unhooks his lightsaber, but does not activate it. Zane rounds a bend in the path and can hear the shifting of rocks up behind a grouping of boulders and trees. Zanes heart is beating as if it would run out of his chest if it could. He clears the path and steps onto the landing platform he has only seen briefly once before, but remembers every exact detail. The barrels and crates stacked efficiently to the side of the hangar entrance. The small landing lights that surround the platform. The painted lines used to guide craft in and out of the hangar. Zane takes in all the details and freezes his eyes when they come across a man kneeling, back to him in dark brown robes. The robed figure raises his head and rises to his feet. Zane sees the figure lower the hood of his robes, but Zane knows who he is before he even sees his face. “Master?!?” Zane asks quizzically.
The silver haired Jedi Master says nothing as he approaches Zane. Fear and dread begins to rise in Zane again as his former master approaches. “You abandoned me…You left me to die here. You will join me!!!” is heard in Zanes head as the Jedi approaches. A green blade of light slowly appears and is reflected in the old Jedis hateful eyes. He swings wide and high at Zanes head. Zane ducks, then backsteps igniting his own blue blade. Zane blocks a low strike then another. The old master presses his attack swinging his blade in short fast jabs at Zanes chest. Zane blocks them rather easily but does not strike against his former master. “You will die…You will join me…” keeps repeating in Zanes mind. A flash of blue and green illuminate the landing are as the two Jedi lock sabers. Zane uses the Force to strengthen himself and pushes forward as hard as he can. The saber lock is broken as the old Jedi falls backward several feet. Zane switches off his saber.

“I will not give into fear!” he yells towards his fallen master. “You taught me better than that.”

The Jedi master rises to his feet once again facing Zane. His green blade slowly fades back into its hilt. The master smiles and nods at Zane but does not speak. “You have made me proud.” is heard in Zanes thoughts. With that the white haired Jedi Master fades as well as the landing pad, mountains, and trees of Bogden. Zane is standing alone in the center of an otherwise empty room. A door opens behind him and light rushes in. Obi Wan enters smiling broadly. “Congratulations Zane. I knew you would succeed.” Obi Wan says excitedly.
“Thank you master Kenobi.” replies Zane swelling with pride, and relief.
“The council would like to see you at 2100 this evening. Do you think you can make it?” inquired Obi Wan playfully.
“Wouldn’t miss it for all the stimcaf on Coruscant.” joked Zane.

JEDI TEMPLE (COUNCIL CHAMBER)

Eight padawans, Zane and Bariss included, are standing before the council facing Master Yoda. Master Kenobi stands to Yodas left, beaming with pride at the padawans before him. Yoda raises a hand signaling that he is ready to begin. Immediately all eight padawans fall on one knee and look to Master Yoda.
“Watched you all through the years I have.” states Yoda, looking each padawan in the eye as he speaks. “Proud of you all, we are.” he says smiling while gesturing to the members of the council. “In facing your greatest fears, not giving into fear or anger, demonstrated the most serious minds you have. Confer upon you the title of Knight, the council does. Rise you may.”

There is a light round of applause as the new knights rise. Those that have their masters present are congratulated by them. The sounds of small conversations fill the council chamber as the new knights talk amongst themselves, reliving the stages of their trials. Obi Wan is approached by Master Gallia.

“You have done well Master Kenobi. You should be proud.”
“Oh, I am.” He said lightly. He nods to Bariss Offee, who is standing next to her master Iluminara Unduli.
“As you may know, Master Fisto was sent to Dantooine. Master Yoda is under the impression that you would like to take his place for the Alderaan mission.” Adi said in a neutral voice.
“Yes.” Obi Wan nodded. “I asked Master Yoda about being a part of that.” said Obi Wan in a tone not showing his elation at the news.
“I am glad to see you are interested then. You will need a partner on this. Do you have anyone in mind?” Adi inquired.
“Yes, I think I know just who to bring along.” Obi Wan smiled.
“Good. Make sure your partner and you are here at 0700 tomorrow. Both of you will need to be briefed. The convention starts in three days on Alderaan.”

Adi left Obi Wans side and mingled with the crowd, shaking hands and bowing to the new knights for a few moments then left the council chamber. Obi Wan reflected for a moment. His thoughts drifted to Anakin. Is he still alive, as Master Yoda says, or did he die in the foundry on Mechis III? Obi Wan had never had reason to doubt the wise old Jedi before, but a part of him felt that Yoda might be mistaken about Anakin. Obi Wan was not able to feel his former padawans presence in the Force. Yodas theory of Sith power shrouding Anakin seemed far fetched to Obi Wan. Afterall if Anakin were truly the chosen one, it would have to be a power much stronger than Master Yodas.

“Much to learn they still have.” whispered the great Jedi floating by Obi Wans ear. Obi Wan was startled because the Jedis tone almost sounded as if he were reading Obi Wans mind, but kept it well hidden. The floating Jedi Master smiled at the new knights. “In the morning I will see you then, Master Kenobi?”
“Yes Master, bright and early.” Obi Wan replied.

CORUSCANT (A CROWDED WALKWAY)

Many varied species are strolling and moving about the planet. Consumers shopping, vendors selling their wares on corners, or sentients just moving about to or from their jobs. The sky ways are crowded with various sorts of speeders and transports. Large billboards and tickers assault the senses with information. Three short but loud beeps are heard, signifying “breaking” news. Some of the citizens stop and gaze at the nearest billboard, others continue about their business. A pink Twi’Lek female appears on the billboards and begins her report.

“Most of us in the galaxy have come to revere and respect the Jedi for their bravery and courage. They have mystic abilities that amaze and astound us. Could one of these abilities include blinding us to the truth? Shocking footage has been found of what appears to be a Jedi harassing innocent civilians. And when these innocent sentients do not meet the Jedis demands, the situation becomes even worse. See for yourselves…”

The Twi’Leks report is displayed in basic and various other alien languages scrolling across the tickers as the footage of the dark haired Jedi appears on the billboards. As the scene plays out, more and more people on the walkways and hallways stop and take notice. As the small Bith child hits the wall, all those that are witnessing the report gasp in horror. The crowds erupt in angry shouts as they witness the innocent civilians fall under the red bolts of the Republic troopers weapons. The holo ends and the Twi’Lek continues her report.

“As you can see the Jedi clearly ordered an attack on innocent civilians. Is this a normal practice of the Jedi? Have we been blinded to their true nature? No one at the Jedi Temple here on Coruscant has any comments. The Supreme Chancellor was also unavailable for comment. I’m Taan Belusa wishing you all a good day.”

The holonet news feed ends and the normal displays and advertisements pop back on the billboards and tickers. The various crowds begin to move about but there are discussions held by various groups of sentients.

JEDI TEMPLE (COUNCIL CHAMBER)

Obi Wan and Zane, his padawan braids are most notably missing, are standing before Yoda in the council chamber. The seats to Master Yodas left and right are still ominously vacant. Obi Wan briefly ponders what it would be like to sit in one of those seats. “To be active in making decisions that will effect all Jedi is a powerful responsibility. Am I ready for that?” Obi Wan thinks to himself.

“Masters Zane and Marit, you will meet with Senator Organa at his residence later today. We have a contact that will brief you on the details of your mission there.” Adi said calmly.
“And who is our contact?” asked Zane.
“An old friend he is. Volunteered he did.” answered Yoda. “But now, more pressing matters we must attend.”
“Please excuse us for being short. We must meet with the Supreme Chancellor over an urgent matter.” Adi added in a sad tone.
“Be cautious you must. Fear you the public may. Calm and peaceful you must remain, but alert always.” Yoda warned.
“Yes Master.” Both Zane and Obi Wan replied. They turn and leave the chamber.

CORUSCANT (SUPREME CHANCELLORS OFFICE)

Masters Yoda and Gallia are again before the Supreme Chancellor. Since the initial airing of the recorded attack the public has become fearful of the Jedi, even angry. Small crowds have gathered to protest the Jedi in front of the Jedi Temples entrance, waving signs and yelling at anyone that enters the temple, Jedi or not. As the two Jedi enter the Chancellors office, he rises to greet them with a slight bow.

“Master Yoda I must apologize. I don’t know how that recording got to the holonet. We were able to pull the recording, but not before it was played two more times.” said Palpatine pleadingly. “Fortunately, it was only played here on Coruscant and did not get broadcast across the Galactic Network.” Palpatine added in a reassuring tone.
“Little that matters.” replied the small Jedi. “Spread the rumors will. Off planet travelers will tell the tale. Done the damage is.”
“What can we do now to calm the public? I am fearful that angry mobs may form and attack Jedi, forcing them to defend themselves, and thus make the situation worse.” inquired Adi.
“For all the Jedi have done for the Republic, I assure you I will not allow any of you to come to harm if I can help it. I will have troops stationed around your temple if necessary. I have a speech prepared stating this was a lone incident and is being investigated. I will give the speech during todays session and make sure it is broadcast on the Galactic Network.” said Palpatine. “Which reminds me…I have the members of the commission to investigate this matter selected. Some of them will go to Dantooine. While others will conduct interviews of other Jedi at the temple. Perhaps even, with your graces, peruse your Jedi archives. I want to be able to prove beyond any doubt that the Jedi have always served the Republics best interests.
“Anything we can do to help, we of course will do.” stated Adi.
“Nothing to hide do we have. If calms the public this will, then do it we shall.” added Yoda with a tone of apprehension as he eyed the Supreme Chancellor skeptically.

Palpatine gazes at the two Jedi before him and Yodas expression changes to one of serenity and calmness. Yoda smiles a brief almost politician like smile. The Chancellor sees the subtle change in Yodas expression and moves to take his seat behind his massive desk.

“I thank you for taking the time to see me on such short notice. I will contact you soon Master Gallia when the commission is prepared to see your temple.”
“Thank you Supreme Chancellor.” Adi replies. The two Jedi bow to the Supreme Chancellor and leave his office.

SENATE LIVING QUARTERS (BAIL ORGANAS RESIDENCE)

Obi Wan and Zane are standing in a brightly lit, wide spacious hallway with deep red carpeting and pearlwood columns with gold trim. Obi Wan presses the door chime, signifying their arrival at Bail Organas residence. Zane leans in to ask Obi Wan…

“Did you sense fear and hostility towards us on our way here?”
“Yes. I did sense an usually high amount of fear and anxiety. I sense something terrible has happened to stir up this fearful climate.” replied Obi Wan.

The pearlwood doors slide open and a rusty gray protocol droid greets them.

“I am C-3PO human cyborg relations. You must be Masters Obi Wan Kenobi and Zane Marit. I am honored to meet you. If you’ll follow me, I will take you to Master Organa.”

The two Jedi bow to the droid and follow him into the main living room.

“Please wait here and I will let Master Bail know you are here. Might I bring you any refreshments?” asked the droid.

The two Jedi reply that they do not require any refreshments and the protocol droid turns to fetch Bail, his servo motors whirring and the sound of his metal feet can be heard clanking on the floor. Obi Wan walks around a large couch and takes a seat in a soft bottom chair. Zane casually strolls around the room occasionally stopping for a closer look at various moss paintings.

“Amazing how the artist is able to grow these with the colors and detail so precisely.”
“Be careful Zane, they are moisture sensitive. You wouldn’t want to breathe too heavily on it. It might change the coloring.” chuckled Obi Wan.
“Very funny…”replied Zane as he backed away from the moss painting. “It is nice to see your sense of humor returning. I was going to pay a bounty hunter to go out and find it for you.” laughed Zane.
“Well I hope you had a good one in mind.” replied Obi Wan with a grin.
“Only the best Master Kenobi, only the best.” answered Zane.

Bail Organa emerges from a hallway elegantly dressed. Following him are Padme Amidala and a muscular Bothan that both of the Jedi recognize instantly. Amidala approaches Obi Wan and embraces him in a strong hug.

“Its good to see you again Obi Wan. Its been too long.”
“Yes it has M’lady. You’re looking well.” said Obi Wan gripping the former senator by her shoulders.
“I trust that you had no trouble getting here? We expected you might be late.” said Bail in a relieved tone.

The two Jedi look at Bail quizzically.

“We were worried that you might have been delayed or come across some kind of trouble after that holo got broadcast late yesterday.” said Tell, answering the Jedis unasked question.

“What holo?” asked Zane.

Bail, Padme, and Tell explain the holo and what it contained in graphic detail…

“It was horrible Obi Wan. I know that it has to be a fake of some kind. I know no Jedi is capable of the cruelty on that holo.” said Padme reassuringly.
“Well it seems the Supreme Chancellor has been able to stop the holo from broadcasting. Its been hours since it was last aired.” stated Bail.
“That certainly would explain the feelings of fear and anxiety we sensed on our way here.” Obi Wan said, glancing to Zane. Zane nods in agreement.
“Do you think this will affect our mission Master Kenobi?” asked Zane.
“It might. I am sure copies of that holo were made and will be dispersed. Rumors spread by those that know of it and haven’t seen it may actually be worse.”
“How do you mean Master?”
“Simple kid.” answered Tell. “Lets just say that someone whose seen the holo tells someone that hasn’t. That person can embellish the truth, so to speak about the events in the holo. Thus making it even worse than the actual event.”
“Correct Tell. The person with misinformation will then tell another person and so on.” replied Obi Wan.
“Perhaps there were mitigating circumstances or the holo is a fake. As M’lady suggests.” said Zane.
“It may not matter Zane. Every sentient creature believes truth from their own point of view.” said Obi Wan.
“I think its time for us to get down to business everyone.” Bail said sternly. “I’d like to bring you two up to speed on what we have planned so far.”
“Please do.” said Obi Wan.
“As you know, the convention is in a few days. I usually attend the annual conference with a small staff. Padme will pose as one of my staff members. A good friend of mine in the Alderaan intel office was able to get me a disguise kit. Padme will need to alter her appearance. Tell will of course be my pilot. You are to be his crew. I ask that you not wear your traditional tunics or robes. And your lightsabers will need to be concealed.” explained Bail. “Mr. Rey’Tet has a rather unique device that you may want to use for your lightsabers.” Bail motions to Tell and he rolls back the long sleeve of his shirt revealing a long metal tube strapped to his forearm by two leather straps. Tell flexes his forearm and snaps his wrist up. A small holdout blaster shoots out of the tube and lands in Tells hand.
“I have two others modified for your sabers. You may want to test them before we get underway.” said Tell grabbing the two launchers out of a satchel near his feet.

Tell proceeds to toss a launcher to each Obi Wan, and Zane. The two Jedi eagerly strap on the tube launchers to their forearms. They then load the launchers with their lightsabers. Once the sabers are locked into the launchers, the Jedi test them. Obi Wan drops his arm straight down and easily activates the launcher, dropping his lightsaber directly into his waiting hand. Zane however attempts a slightly more dramatic style. Zane extends his arm straight out in front of him and snaps his wrist up. Nothing happens. Again he snaps his wrist up and his saber launches from the tube this time, taking him slightly by surprise. Zane closes his hand around the hilt of his saber, but barely misses it. His saber is now heading directly toward a large gold trimmed crystaglass mirror. Faster than anyone can think Obi Wan uses the Force and calls Zanes runaway saber to him. Obi Wan catches Zanes saber with a loud SMACK!

“Sorry!” said Zane sheepishly, trying to avoid eye contact with everyone in the room. There is what seems, to Zane, an eternity of silence as Obi Wan glowers at Zane from across the room. Suddenly a loud booming laugh is heard. Tell walks up to Zane and claps him hard on the back. “You Jedi…” he says. “always joking around.” Everyone else in the room starts to breathe again and chuckle too. C3PO enters the room surveying the laughter, not quite sure what to think about it.

“I beg your pardon Master Bail, but the Senate sessions will start soon. Is there anything I can do to help you get ready?” asked the droid.
“No thank you, 3PO.” replied Bail turning away. “I must get ready for this afternoons session. If you all will excuse me. Feel free to help yourselves to anything you may need while I am away.”

CORUSCANT (SENATE)

Bail arrives at the Senate building with the gray protocol droid in tow. Bail heads towards his usual seat pod near the lower level of the Senate rotunda. He courteously nods and bows to his fellow senators on his way to the seat pod. Of course the general topic of discussion in the Senate hallways have to do with the Jedi attack. Much anti-Jedi rhetoric can be heard to Bails surprise. He knows that much of what he hears is grandstanding among his fellow delegates, but deep down he felt that his fellow senators would show more restraint from joining in on a verbal witch hunt and at least wait to see what the evidence shows.
Bail is almost to his seat pod when he sees an overly obese blue skinned Twi’Lek. Bail is hoping to get to his pod before the corpulent senator sees him and tries to engage him in some mindless conversation. Too late. The large senator turns his thick head and Bail can see his yellow black eyes grow as he turns in his direction. Instantly the thoughts of distaste for the senator vanish as Bails own expression brightens as the blue Twi’Lek approaches him.

“Senator Organa, How are you this fine, fine day?” inquired the senator in his native tongue.
“Senator Taa, I am doing well, thank you. And you?” replied Bail.
“Well, very well thank you.” Senator Orn Free Taa turned and walked in the direction Bail was heading. “What do you think of all this Jedi cruelty business? Everyone is talking about it. I hear the Supreme Chancellor will address the issue in todays session.”
“It’s very sad to see something like that involving the Jedi. But I will withhold my judgment until all evidence has been presented.” Bail said flatly.
“Yes of course you’re right, but the silence from the Jedi on this matter is most unnerving. Makes everyone think they have something to hide.” said Taa with a false grin.

Bail said nothing to this statement, only smiled at the senator and continued towards his pod. Senator Taa then noticed the protocol droid following them two paces behind.

“Odd looking droid Senator Organa. Did you rescue it from a scrap pile?” Orn Free Taa laughed.
“Actually senator, I won him in a game of chance. He is actually quite handy too.” Bail looked back at C-3PO and winked. “He has become an invaluable asset to me.”
“Why thank you, sir!” said C-3PO excitedly.
“A shame Senator Amidala retired. I wonder what she would have thought of the Jedi after seeing that holo?”
“I am sure she would want to see justice done, Jedi or not.” replied Bail.

Bail knows that Senator Taa is fishing for information now. Bail continues to smile and nod diplomatically to his fellow delegates. Senator Taa glances from the protocol droid back to Bail, then back to the droid. He stops walking.

“Well, Senator Organa I must get to my pod. I do hope to see you again soon. Perhaps we can catch up with one another later?”
“I would like that very much.” Bail replies. He is lying though and he hopes to never see the obese Twi’Lek again.

Bail and 3PO enter the pod and take their seats. After a few moments Mas Ameeda calls the Senate to order and introduces the Supreme Chancellor. All the senators. Bail included, rise and clap their hands (or their alien equivalent). A standard hour passes as the normal day to day senate business is concluded. Several small droid float down around Chancellor Palpatine as he rises to his podium. The droids light up as he begins to speak.

“Fellow citizens of the Republic, a tragedy has occurred. Many of you know to what I am referring, Many of you may not. Sufficient evidence has been brought to me, suggesting unspeakable cruelties of the Jedi. While we may have been at war with the Separatists at the time, I can not and will not condone the needless suffering of any sentient. Republic citizen or not!” the Supreme Chancellor says, banging his fist hard on the podiums surface for emphasis.

Chancellor Palpatine now has the Senate cheering him. Various chants can be heard throughout the Senate rotunda. “Down with Jedi” and “Jedi must go” among them. Bail sits in his pod in, a look of astonishment stuck on his face. The Chancellor waves the senators to quiet before continuing.

“I want it understood that the Jedi have not been found guilty of anything. The Jedi have agreed to fully cooperate with a commission I have assembled to investigate this manner. The Jedi have been the protectors of peace and justice in the Republic for several millennia. They are innocent until proven guilty and I ask that you, citizens of the Republic, do not impede the Jedi in any way. I am quite sure that at the end of this investigation, we will find no reason to persecute the Jedi. I wish all citizens a good day.”

With that the droids lights dim as they back away from the Supreme Chancellor and float out of the rotunda. Mas Ameeda steps up to the podium and bangs the gavel to bring the Senate back to order once more. Chancellor Palpatine begins the protocols of closing the session and soon the senators are all dismissed. Bail and C-3PO rise and leave the seat pod to exit the rotunda.

“Very interesting.” Bail says to himself. C-3POs auditory receptors pick up his mumbling.
“Sir, whatever do you mean?” the droid asks. Bail looks up at the droid, as if measuring his response.
“I just find it interesting that the Supreme Chancellor didn’t put the publics mind at ease about the Jedi. He basically said to just leave them alone. Its almost as if he is trying to separate the Jedi from the Republic. Of course, he could just be covering himself…” Bail said thoughtfully.
“Covering himself? I would think his coverings are just fine, Master Bail.” said 3PO seriously.
“Not exactly what I mean 3PO.” laughed Bail. “I mean covering his political ties. If he backs the Jedi wholeheartedly and something does implicate the Jedi, which I don’t believe will happen, Palpatine will look foolish. This is more of a neutral stance for him.”
“My, politics certainly sounds like interesting work.”
“Its more like a game 3PO. You always have to calculate who is doing what and why, and how it affects you. You also have to know where on the board you stand compared to where everyone else “thinks” you stand.” explained Bail. “But enough of this for now, lets get back my quarters.”

JEDI TEMPLE

Master Adi Gallia is awaiting for the commission members to arrive for the investigation. She is standing on the outskirts of a rooftop landing pad. After a few moments a transport makes its way towards the landing pad. The transport glides smoothly to the landing area and Master Gallia steps out to greet the commission. Master Gallia bows as the members exit the transport.

“It is a pleasure to receive you, honored guests. My name is Jedi Master Adi Gallia.”

A tall thin human male with a definite military air about him strides confidently towards the Jedi Master. Adi deduces that he is the leader of the commission.

“Charmed, to meet a Jedi. Wilhuff Tarkin.” said the man, extending his right hand to the Jedi.

Adi takes Wilhuffs hand in hers and shakes it. His grip is strong and his eye contact is solid. In fact, it is almost as if he does not blink at all. Most sentients are somewhat awed in the presence of Jedi, but this human exudes a supreme confidence that has Master Gallia somewhat taken aback. Wilhuff Tarkin then sweeps his arm towards the other two humans with him for introduction.

“Please allow me to introduce Thad Naan and Serro Ri An.”

The two humans bowed to the Jedi Master. Adi returned the bow.

“It is regrettable that we must meet under circumstance such as this, but hopefully we will be able to clear this matter up quickly so that things can get back to normal.” said Tarkin
“Yes the circumstances are regrettable, but we will do everything that we can to assist you in your investigation.” replied Adi.

The four humans leave the landing pad and ride a lift down to the main hallway of the temple. Master Gallia leads the commission on a simple tour of the temple. To the groups right, Adi points out the Bear Clan, which is in the middle of a meditation ritual. All of the adolescents are sitting cross legged in the center of the room. Master Yoda can be seen sitting on a padded stump on the far side of the room.

“Calm you must remain. Passive. Let the Force flow through you.” Master Yoda instructs.

The tour continues to different training areas. They pass the mess hall and the analysis droids before stopping at the archives. Madame Jocasta Nu approaches the group.

“Master Gallia, may I be of any assistance?” she asks with a nod.
“No thank you Madame Nu. I am just showing our vistors around the temple. They may require your assistance later. If they decide to look at any records.” replied Adi.
“Actually we will.” said Tarkin. “Serro will be in charge of going through your archives. Thad will conduct staff interviews. I will be spending my time with you, going over your training methods, see how you discipline those that get out of line. That sort of business.” he said with a curt smile.
“Well in that case…Serro, if you would like to stay with Madame Nu, she can assist you in the archive. If you will allow me a few moments I will line up some interviews for Thad.” Adi replied.

She was again taken aback but did not show it to her visitors. Adi leads Wilhuff and Thad out of the archives, leaving Serro with Jocasta Nu. They enter a warmly lit room with a round table and a few chairs circled around it. Adi takes a deep breath, holds it, and exhales silently. Perhaps it was the lighting, perhaps it was because Adi began to visibly relax, but Thad begins to feel more relaxed and less anxious. Wilhuff however, maintains his stiff disposition.

“Please sit gentlemen. I will return shortly.” Adi said as she exits the room.

Thad takes a chair and pulls it out to sit down. Tarkin remains standing, glares at Thad briefly, then walks around the room with his hands clasped behind his back. Thads apparent lack of bearing upsets Tarkin, but he says nothing of it. He reminds himself that Thad is a senator, not a military leader.

CORUSCANT DIPLOMAT HANGAR

Senator Organa arrives at the hangar with two droids and a short thin bearded human male that is pushing a hovercart loaded with, presumably, the Senators personal effects. The hangar is mostly empty. A few diplomatic transports are in the hangar with only a few mechanics on duty performing maintenance on the spread out ships. The senator heads towards slip 118A. As the senator and his entourage approach the pristine YT-1000 freighter, a familiar figure heads down the entry ramp followed by two crew members in green flight suits.

“Welcome to the Bards Loot Senator Organa.” greeted Tell.
“The pleasure is mine. She looks like a fine ship. You must be proud.” Bail replied.
“She is definitely a one of a kind.” said Tell with pride. “Don’t worry about your luggage, my crew can stow it for you.” Tell said while jerking his thumb towards his two Jedi crew members.
“Thanks a lot.” joked Obi Wan. His beard was not completely shaven off but was neatly trimmed, his hair also neatly trimmed above the shoulders.
“We’re already reduced to common help, I see.” laughs Zane as he begins loading luggage in the background.
“And you’re definately looking the part.” Obi Wan winks to the bearded human.
“This isn’t funny. I may have agreed, against my better judgement, to follow your councils wishes. But THIS was not part of the plan!” said Padme. Her voice was that of a human male, due to the vocalizer within her disguise. Zane stops to take notice as she speaks.
“Dressing as a man is so…so, embarrassing!” said Padme as her face turned a new shade of red.
“Embarassing, but essential.” said Obi Wan. “Besides, of all people, you should appreciate a good disguise.” he continued, suppressing a laugh, but unable to keep the smile from his face.
“That wasn’t funny either.” Padme replied, but her face softened a bit.

Tell Rey’Tet and Senator Organa had already boarded the Bards Loot. Padme and the droids soon followed and the Bards Loot shudders as the start up procedures begin. Obi Wan and Zane finish stowing the items brought by Senator Organa. Zanes senses something just outside of his visual range.

“Master Kenobi, I sense something. It’s not far from here. Perhaps someone has followed the senator.”
“Yes Zane I sense it also. Someones here and making an effort to remain hidden.”
“Should I have Tell hold for a moment so that we can investigate?” asked Zane.
“No. We will be patient, let them make the first move. You’ve done well in detecting that presence, Zane, your skills are improving. Now lets get onboard.” Obi Wan replied with a smile.

The two Jedi finish sealing the storage hatch and board the Bards Loot. The entry way rises and gas vents out as the entry way seals and pressurizes. After a few moments the Bards Loots repulsors kick in and the ship rises a few meters, turns 180 degrees and exits the hangar to begin its journey to Alderaan.

As the Bards Loot exits the hangar, a Rodian steps out of shadow. He reaches for a comlink that resides in his Rancor hide jacket pocket. The Rodian switches the comlink on and speaks into it in his native language.

“The senator has left. Only droids and a human male staffer were with him.”
“No sign of Amidala?...Those two were always together at the senate.” came the voice on the other end of the comlink.
“So you want me to keep up on my surveillance?” asked the Rodian.
“Yes, of course. My benefactor will pay many credits for information leading to the former senator.”
“Just remember I don’t come cheap. I expect to be well paid.” replied the Rodian. He clicked off the comlink, turned and left the hangar.

JEDI TEMPLE (ARCHIVES)

Serro is scanning through historical data while Madame Nu stands just over his shoulder, awaiting any questions. Serro stops scanning when he comes across references to the Sith War. He begins to read with great interest of how dark Jedi were banished from Republic space. Madame Nu notices his sudden interest in the topic and moves closer.

“Not our finest hour as Jedi, I’m afraid.” said Jocasta, leaning in.
“What do you mean by that?” asks Serro, his eyes not leaving the screen.
“I feel that the leadership of that time could have done more to sway those in darkness back towards the light. Exile was not the answer.” replied Jocasta.
“Then what was the answer?”

Madame Nu shows a slight look of shock, as though the answer should be obvious to her charge.

“Those that could not be brought back to the light should have been imprisoned or detained in some fashion. To allow them to freely roam open space seems like such an unwise risk.” she replies in a haughty tone. “In the end it WAS unwise. So many lives wasted. Of course I was not there, but I would think the council of that time would see the risks.” she said reflectively. “I trust you know where to find me should you require any assistance.” Madame Nu said flatly as she turned and headed towards her office.

Serro thinks for a moment about what Jocasta Nu had said. He makes a note in his datapad then continues scanning through the archive records.

BARDS LOOT

Obi Wan hears nothing but silence, as though his sense of hearing has failed him. Fallen Jedi surround him. A short distance in front of him is a dark figure covered in mist and clouds, a red lightsaber is ignited. The dark figure approaches, slowly, menacingly, he raises his blade and swings down in a powerful angry stroke…

Obi Wan opens his eyes to see Zane standing over him. Obi Wan is soaked with sweat.

“Master Kenobi, are you alright?”
“I’m fine Zane. I just haven’t been sleeping well as of late.” Obi Wan replied with a small grin, trying to lighten the mood.

Zane hands Obi Wan a cup of cold water, which Obi Wan gulps down with one swallow.

“Thank you, I feel much better now.” acknowledged Obi Wan.
“How long have you…had trouble sleeping?” asked Zane.
“A while now, about two months. I think it is a vision or warning of some sort.”
“What do you see in your dream or vision?”

Obi Wan is now sitting up, pondering how to phrase his response, gently rubbing a hand over his freshly trimmed beard.

“Well, the dreams first started shortly after we returned from Mechis III. It mostly has to do with Anakin returning from the dead, full of anger and hatred. The dream has been constant. I have it almost every night. Anakins voice is always in my head saying that I failed him.”
“And when you don’t have that dream?”
“More recently I see what I assume to be a Sith Lord surrounded by conquered Jedi. He is clouded and difficult to see…He strikes at me with his saber and that’s when I wake.”

Zane soaks in what Obi Wan has shared with him. He is not sure if he should console Obi Wan or offer him advice. Being a new knight speaking to an older more experienced knight, he chooses to ask another question.

“Have you consulted with Master Yoda about your dreams?”
“We have discussed them, yes. He senses that the Dark Side is clouding everything that has been going on for the last twelve or fifteen years. He also believes that Anakin is still alive… I saw him die. He is gone.” Obi Wan felt his temper start to rise and quickly squelched it.
“Master Yoda is wise. I have never known any reason not to trust in his wisdom.” stated Zane in a neutral tone.
“Neither have I. And I DO trust him. It just seems impossible for Anakin to have survived his fall into that pit. I was his Master and I can not sense him anywhere. For Anakin to survive, it would take a strength in the Force that no one has ever seen. Master Yoda included.”
“Anakin was rumored to be the Chosen one, was he not? Perhaps he would have that power.” said Zane absentmindedly.
“Possibly, but I knew Anakin well. He would not be able to control that amount of power. Enough of this for now. I thank you listening Zane, it’s nice to get some of this off of my chest. How much longer until we reach Alderaan?” inquired Obi Wan, trying to change the subject.

Zane catches the subtle change of conversation. He says nothing further on the topic of dreams or Anakin Skywalker.

“A few more hours.”

CORUSCANT

It is dark and cold in this room. A few small lights flicker in and out of sequence on monitoring equipment. The sound of machinery filters dully into the room. The image of a corpulent Twi’lek is displayed on a small communications console of a tall throne like chair.

“My informant tells me that Senator Organa has left Coruscant, my Lord.” the image says.
“Did he leave alone?”
“No Lord, he left with one human male and two droids. He used unregistered transport.” answered the Twi’lek.
“Strange. He did not take the Consular ship…Did he give any information on Senator Amidala?”
“I had a brief conversation with Organa, Lord. However, I was not able to obtain any pertinent information regarding the former senator. I felt that it would be wise not to pry and risk arousing his suspicions.”
“Yes. That was wise of you…Keep me informed of your findings Senator.”
“As you wish Lord.” bowed the image. It then flickers out.

The throne swivels 90 degrees and Darth Sidious rises from it. He walks towards a long metal case that eerily resembles a casket. He looks through a small glass window on the top of the case and peers through the translucent liquid at the person inside. A hairless head is visible, but motionless. Only the rhythm of his breathing indicates he is alive.

“Soon my young apprentice. Soon indeed.” Lord Sidious says to himself.

The Dark Lord then walks towards a wall. He presses a small red switch. The air swooshes slightly as the door rises. A low white light shines down on a bio-mechanical suit of black armor. A working life support unit is affixed to the chest, blinking. Lord Sidious glances to the utility belt. On it hangs the pommel of a lightsaber. The Dark Lord glances to the highly polished black helmet, also part of the life support system built into the suit. The helmet is round at the top and angles 45 degrees outward from the center almost pointing to the black cape that drapes the shoulders. The eyes of the helmet are dark and lifeless. Darth Sidious smiles because he knows that once his new apprentice dons this armor, the eyes will have the same effect, dark and lifeless.
Darth Sidious flicks the red switch and the door drops down with a hiss. He turns and walks back to his throne. He punches in a code on the comm. array as he sits. The image of Wilhuff Tarkin flickers before him.

“You will be pleased to know that our investigation is proceeding as planned, Lord.” Tarkin stated confidently. “Shall I proceed to…my secondary assignment?”
“Not yet, Commander Tarkin. We will need time to pass so the Jedi are not alerted. Your zest for your tasks has pleased me commander, you will rise high in my ranks.”

Tarkin bows at the compliment. Darth Sidious ends the transmission and the image of Tarkin blinks out.

BARDS LOOT

Obi Wan and Zane enter the galley of the Bards Loot for something to eat. Padme is sitting at the round table sipping on a cup of hot tea. She is not in her disguise and appears to be dressed rather casual. Obi Wan fills a cup with brewed stimcaf while Zane gets a cup of hot tea and starfruit pastries. Obi Wan motions to a spot in front of Padme.

“May I?” he asks.
“Of course Master Jedi.” she replies in a masculine voice.

Obi Wan and Zane suppress a smile, knowing that Padme can not remove the vocalizer. Detaching a re-attaching weakens the vocalizer, making it less effective.

“We should be arriving at Alderaan soon. Bail said that once we are inside the Royal House I will be rid of this disguise once and for all.” Padme said in relief.
“Well I can empathize; I wouldn’t want to be disguised as a woman.” Zane put in. “But I must say that you pulled off the male disguise brilliantly.” he smiled.
“It’s probably nice to see how the other half lives.” said Obi Wan, drinking his stimcaf while maintaining his eye contact.

Obi Wan notes how Padme glows. The Force swirls around her and he sees that the Councils decision to protect her was the correct one. Her children will be strong in the Force indeed. Senator Organa enters the galley and grabs a starfruit pastry.

“We’ll be landing at the Royal House soon. You may want to get back “into character” M’lady.” Bail said jokingly.

The Jedi again struggle to hide their smirks.

ALDERAAN

The Bards Loot has entered Alderaans atmosphere and has been granted permission to land at the Royal House hangar. Padme enters the cockpit and takes a seat behind the co-pilots chair, next to Bail. The sky is clear and is the color of an airy blue. She glances out of the viewport and sees beautifully crafted buildings, but they are not overly tall like in Coruscant. Many lakes and trees can be seen and Padme is reminded of Naboo, and feels truly at peace for the first time in weeks. Padme jumps in her seat when an Alderaanian Defense Force fighter takes up an escort position next to the Bards Loot.

“Don’t be alarmed. Standard procedure when a member of the Royal House is returning.” assured Bail.

Padme notices another fighter on the port side of the vessel as well. She settles back into her seat. A few moments pass, then the Royal House hangar appears in the forward viewport. The hangar is a large white square building with a retractable roof. There is a small crowd of people gathered outside of the hangar.

“Don’t worry, just the local press. Just remember to stay in character. No one will pay any attention to you.” instructed Bail. “Once we are in the Royal House, you’ll be able to get out of that.”
“Good. The sooner the better.”

Finally, the Bards Lott touches down inside the hangar. Tell is flipping switches as the Loot goes through its shutdown procedure and self diagnostics routine. Gas can be seen and heard venting throughout the ship. The entry ramp lowers and Obi Wan and Zane exit. They head towards the exterior storage section and begin to remove the cargo. Both Jedi extend the Force towards the crowd that has gathered near the entrance, to gauge if there are any hostile intentions. They sense no danger.

“All clear here.” Obi Wan says into a comlink.

Bail Organa exits the ship. Padme and C-3PO follow at a slight distance. As Bail heads towards the press, Padme and 3PO join Obi Wan and Zane by the storage area. As Bail confers with members of the press, Padme pushes the hovercart with Senator Organas luggage across an open walk way. Various flowers are in bloom and the sweet scent in the air intoxicates Padme. She casually strolls so that she can absorb as much of the fresh air as she can.

CORUSCANT (JEDI COUNCIL CHAMBER)

The attitudes toward the Jedi have not improved since the airing of Supreme Chancellor Palpatines speech. Protests are still held outside the temple and though no violence has occurred, the Jedi are fearful that it may only be a matter of time until the situation worsens. Unless the Jedi are absolved soon of any wrong doing, the Jedi may become the hunted. The Jedi Council eagerly awaits a report from Master Fisto from Dantooine. The communication unit flickers to life in the center of the council chamber with the image of Master Fisto.

“Greetings Masters.” the blue image said with a bow.
“Greetings Master Fisto and Master Lah.” replied Yoda. “Information do you have?”
“Leads have been difficult to come by Master. I apologize that it took so long to report in.”
“Apologize you need not. Please proceed.”
“The people here have been reluctant to provide any information. They fear and resent us. We did manage to come across some traders that pointed us in the direction to where the incident took place and when we arrived we found the Chancellors commission was already there.” Kit pauses briefly. “We felt it wise to remain hidden from them, so we stayed in the outskirts of the town until they left. Master Lah attempted to lightly probe their minds.” Kit stated with a look of concern. “One of the members minds seemed guarded against his probes. The others were fairly easy to read and appear to know nothing more than we do.”
“The one with the guarded mind, did he notice that Master Lah was probing his thoughts?” asked one council member.
“No Master, Ruun Lah detected no reaction from the human. After the commission left the area we were able to examine the massacre site. There was definitely an evil aura present.”
“From the event, or the human with the guarded mind?” Adi inquired.
“The presence was strong. I would say that it is a residual effect from what took place here, not from one person.”
“Do not presume…open you mind must be.” warned Yoda. “Anything else to report do you have?”
“Yes Master. It may be nothing, but one of the locals that were willing to talk to us said that the Troop regiment was attached to the 85th IDR. If they truly were attached to the Interior Defense Regiment, why would they be out here, near the Outer Rim?”
“A piece to the puzzle we have. Continue your investigation, keep us informed.” ordered Yoda.

Master Fisto bows. The image fades out.

“Do you really think the troopers were attached to the 85th?” asked a council member.
“Afraid am I, where this path may lead. Danger I sense at the end of this plot.” Yoda replied sadly.

DANTOOINE

Masters Fisto and Lah are dressed conservatively in beige tunics with sand brown robes. Their lightsabers still attached to their utility belts but not in sight as they stroll towards their rented speeder. They have talked to various vendors and citizens near the massacre site, which has been roped off from public access. Various holo pics and charms have been scattered near the barricade to remember those that lost their lives. The two Jedi sense much anger and fear towards them, yet some of the citizens have helped them where they could, answering questions and recounting memories…
The two Jedi agree that they have gathered all the information that they can in this town and decide to return to Sarnis. Sarnis is a port city, highly populated compared to other settlements found on Dantooine. As is often the case on similar worlds, Sarnis is the major tech and trade center for the planet As the robed Jedi approach their speeder, a chrome gray Soro Suub 220TR, Master Lah shakes his head at Kit.

“I still can’t believe you had to get the fancy one.” Ruun says in a huffy voice.
“It never hurts to have some style. Just because we are members of the Jedi Order it doesn’t mean we always have to travel like vagabonds.” Kit replies. “Besides, as fast as this speeder is…we will get done with our investigation all more quickly.”

Ruun Lah again shakes his head in disappointment as he sits in the speeder. Kit flashes his trademark grin as he slides into the drivers seat and engages the repulsors. The speeder shoots off down the open dirt pathway, kicking up dust and debris behind it. Kits grin widens as the 220TRs speedometer rises. After a few moments Kit parks the speeder in an underground garage. The two Jedi exit the speeder and walk towards a turbo lift. The lift takes the Jedi to the floor their room is located. As soon as the Jedi step off the lift, Master Lah senses a disturbance. The Jedi cautiously approach the door to their room, unhooking their lightsabers. They sense no other beings present so they enter, still keeping their guard up. The room is in shambles. The beds and dresser units have been overturned. Clothing and personal effects are strewn about the room.

“We need to complain about housekeeping.” stated Kit as he hooked his lightsaber back onto his belt.
“That’s not funny.” replied Lah, likewise placing his lightsaber back to his belt. “The question is, was this just a local lashing out because we are Jedi, or does someone think we’re on to something?”
“Either way…I think we’ve worn out our welcome. I think we need to wrap this up as soon and as quietly as we can. I think I’ll pay a visit to the front desk, see if I can find out anything of interest on our “maids”.” smiled Kit.
“I’ll clean up this mess and get our things packed. Just be cautious in the lobby. We don’t need to make a big issue of this. It’s not like we had anything of importance here.”

ALDERAAN

Gheeta Thon is relaxing in the pilots chair aboard his ship, the Headhunter. He feels a buzzing sensation coming from the right side of his chest. He reaches into his Rancor skin jacket and removes the source of this irritation, his comlink. He patches the comlink through the ships communications array and ensures the subspace frequency scrambler is activated. Once this is done he flips a switch and answers his call.

“Yes?” he asks in his native language.
“Have you any new information? My benefactor is getting…impatient.” came the reply.
“I’m on Alderaan. Organas ship landed at a hangar near the Royal House, standard procedure. He spoke to the local press but I haven’t really had a chance to get close to him. But don’t worry, once he attends the diplomatic conventions one of my associates should be able to plant a mic on him. I promise you if he knows anything, we’ll find out.”
“My benefactor as well as myself, are unconcerned with empty promises. We want results, and we want them soon.”

With that, the channel goes dead. Gheeta shakes his head as if disappointed. Gheeta understands why his particular field of expertise is always in demand. True that his skills are not considered common, but one of the main reasons he is always gainfully employed is that his employers are usually impatient creatures. To be a bounty hunter and information broker takes a certain degree of patience. Patience is required to learn his quarries habits and tendencies and then turn those very things against them. Patience is a required skill when dealing with unknown contacts and incomplete information, attempting to put these pieces together. Most of Gheetas clients do not possess this required skill. Gheeta returns to a reclining position in the pilots seat and switches the frequency on his comlink. He then presses the transmit button. A moment passes before a response comes through.

“What do you need Gheeta?” crackles through the comlink.
“Nothing really, I just got a call from the boss. Where are you, did you manage to get the proper clearance?”
“Of course.” Mak said coolly. “I am at the convention center doing a walk through now. The best way to mic him will be when he arrives. When I see my opportunity, I’ll take it.”
“Excellent! Rendezvous at the Headhunter once you’re done. We’ll need to test the mic before we plant it on him.” Gheeta replied happily. “Plus you can show me a few choice spots to try and tag him.”
“What do you mean?” said Mak angrily.
“I mean I am going to be out there with you. I figure with the both of us out there we’ll have better odds of tagging him, in case you miss.” Gheeta said in a cold tone.
“Have I ever missed before?” Mak asked innocently.
“It’s not like that and you know it. I just don’t want to take any chances with this human. He can bring us a lot of credits.”

Mak is silent for a moment, contemplating his response. He decides not to push the issue.

“How long do you think we’re going to have to tail this guy?” asked Mak. “Something about this mark is putting me on edge.”
“Don’t start with that again. I figure we give him two days. If he hasn’t given up any information by then we’ll inform the boss and see if he has other leads he wants us to follow up on. Okay with you?”
“Fine.” Mak said flatly.

The comlink pops as the conversation ends. Gheeta places the comlink back in his inside pocket. He then pulls out a rolled cigarra, places it in his mouth and lights it with his custom made Rancor claw lighter. Gheeta inhales sharply, then blows out a small cloud of smoke, his thoughts drift to collecting his credits.

ALDERAAN (ROYAL HOUSE)

Padme is now unpacked and happily out of disguise. She is sitting in a windowless room with Obi Wan and Zane keeping her company. They are still dressed in their flight suits. Obi Wan is seated next to Padme while Zane stands by the doorway. Padme is so happy to finally be rid of her disguise, Obi Wan notices that she glows that much brighter. It pains him to know that one day soon he will take away one of her children, the one with the strongest Force potential. But for now, in this moment, Obi Wan is happy to be in her warmth and glow. Bail enters the room distracting Obi Wan from his reverie. Bail is formally dressed in the customary robes of the Royal House, indicating he is about to depart for the diplomatic convention.
The diplomatic convention is held every two standard years. It is a forum for members of all provinces and cities on Alderaan to map the planets future internally and on the galactic scale. Political issues of trade, economics, defense, and where citizens stand on Galactic politics. It is a way for Bail to gauge how Alderaan would stand on certain Galactic issues such as the clone armys use post Clone War.

“Well, I’m ready to go. How do I look?” Bail asked, smiling.
“Like a member of the Royal House should, elegant and impressive.” replied Padme, returning his smile.
“I think we’re going to look quite under dressed for the occasion.” smirked Zane.
“You’ll be fine.” Bail assured. “I have taken the liberty of having some appropriate clothes brought in. I over guessed your sizes.” Bail said eyeing the Jedis forearms with a smile. “So don’t be surprised if they’re a bit…big.”
“Excellent. We’ll get changed right away then.” said Obi Wan enthusiastically.

Bail and the two Jedi exit a regal white and gold trimmed transport and step out onto a deep scarlet covered carpet. Bail shows a security agent his credentials and the agent checks the ID closely. Once they pass the security check point they enter the main antechamber hallway. The hallway is beginning to fill with other politicians and aids. Bail strolls through the long rounding hallway with the two Jedi a half step behind.
Gheeta and Mak have taken up positions inside the convention center using their false IDs. They also managed to sneak in small palm sized plastic cartridges that have small white flimsy squares attached to the end. The small white square holds a powerful microphone covered with a sticky substance. The plastic cartridges are gas filled and when triggered will launch the microphone approximately four meters.
Mak takes position near a marble statue as he notices Bail coming his way. He instinctively ducks behind the statue and grabs one of his cartridges. Obi Wan and Zane both sense the disturbance and look at one another. Without saying a word Zane shifts to Bails left. As they approach, and then pass the statue, Mak triggers the cartridge launching the mic. Zane hears the cartridge fire and with a faint flick of his wrist, the Force deflects the object aimed at Bail. Mak lifts his cuff to his mouth.

“I got him. He’s continuing down the south corridor heading your way.” he said. After a moment Maks earpiece crackles. “I see him. I’ll tag him and then we’ll meet up at the ship.”

Gheeta palms his cartridge and strolls nonchalantly towards Bail. As he passes Bail, he lifts the cartridge in his palm and casually triggers the cartridge. Obi Wan already knows what to expect and in anticipation gently waves his hand as the Rodian passes, deflecting the object. Gheeta continues to stroll past Bail, thinking he has two mics planted on him. He works his way to an exit then makes his way to the Headhunter.

Obi Wan and Zane escort Bail to the proceedings without further incident. Once Bail has taken his seat with the Royal Family the Jedi fall discreetly to the backdrop and watch as the session begins. Zane leans in to speak to Obi Wan.

“What was that all about?”
“I’m not sure Zane. Its apparent they had no intent to kill. They were trying to plant some type of homing device on him is my guess.”
“Did the presence feel familiar to you? I think it’s the same presence I felt at the hangar on Coruscant.”
“Yes. I noticed that too. It appears they have made the first move.”

ALDERAAN (HEADHUNTER)

Gheeta and Mak enter the hangar where the Headhunter is. Gheeta enters the security deactivation codes and the gangway lowers with a hiss. They board the vessel and make their way to the communications array in the cockpit. “This may be a little loud.” he warned. Gheeta flips the switch to activate the microphones. Instead of the loud noise of delegates in session, as he expected, there is silence. He adjusts the volume to its maximum level. The hum and vibration echoes throughout the cockpit as a whirring sound heard. The sound gets a little louder.

“That sounds like a droid.” stated Mak.
“Why are we listening to a droid?” asked Gheeta, the noise getting louder.

The speakers shake and rumble as a piercing noise is broadcast within the cockpit, the droid apparently sucks the mic up into itself. Gheeta and Mak both cover their ears in vain at the tremendous amount of noise that fills the cockpit. Gheeta slaps at the volume control with one hand as he tries to keep his ears covered with the other. After a few seconds, the switch for the mic is turned off. It takes a few minutes more before either sentient is able to hear normally.

“That was a cleaning droid, we missed him.” Gheeta surmises as he looks around the cockpit. The speakers have smoke rising from them due to the overload. “Damn. Those speakers are going to need to be replaced. I’ll probably need to rewire the com unit too.” he says, shaking his head.
“So how do you want to proceed now?” Mak inquired.
“I guess plan B.”
“I know I’m going to regret asking, but what’s that?”
“Do you have your hold out on you?” Gheeta responded, his small mouth turning into a twisted smile.

DANTOOINE (SARNIS)

Kit enters the lobby and walks to the front desk. The Duro desk clerk straightens his appearance. Kit notes that the clerk is on edge.

“How may I be of service?” the Duro asks.
“Have there been any new arrivals that have checked in recently?” Kit asked.
“We are usually slow and not booked to our full capacity. However, we had some visitors that checked in yesterday.”
“Can you let me know what room they are staying in?” Kit inquires while waving his hand slowly before the clerk.
“The guests are staying in room 324-2B and 237-1A.” the Duro replied.
“Thank you.” bowed Kit.

Ruun Lah is packing their clothing and travel items as well as straightening the room when a he senses a disturbance in the Force. He drops the clothing in his hands, grabs his lightsaber, and runs out of the room…
Kit exits the lift and glances at the sign showing what direction the rooms are located. He turns to the left and continues down the hallway. He a stops in front of a door, on it is a sign reading 237-1A. Kit attempts to open the door. It’s locked. He uses the Force and is able to unlock the door. It slides open. There is no light in the room. Kit steps into the room…beep. Master Lah exits the same lift that brought Kit to this floor…beep. He turns down the same corridor that Kit walked down only moments before...beep. Master Lah sees the open door. A light is switched on…BEEEEEEEPPPP...

An explosion of flame and acrid smoke rock the corridor, the walls of the door way, as well as across the hall are cracked and damaged. The sound of the explosion is already deafened by the louder sounds of a siren. Lights that still have power in the corridor flash continuously. The few tenants on that floor begin to exit their rooms. Master Lah is flat on his back, lightsaber in hand. Some debris and powdered duracrete cover his face and chest. He gathers the healing powers of the Force to give him strength. Not just the strength to rise, but also the strength to face what he knows awaits him in what remains of room 237-1A… Master Kit Fistos lifeless body.

ALDERAAN

The days session is over and many of the delegates have already left. Bail has just finished sorting the next days diplomatic agenda. He joins Obi Wan and Zane out in the antechamber of convention center. He sees the two Jedi discussing various works of art from sculptures to moss paintings and almost feels guilty at intruding.

“Enjoying the art I see.” Bail said. Pride can be heard in his tone, but also exhaustion.
“Yes, very much so.” replied Zane, not taking his eyes off of one stone sculpture.
“Long day?” Obi Wan asked, sending subtle waves of the Force over Bail, relaxing his aches and tension.
“Brutal. Absolutely brutal.” responded Bail. “But I feel quite refreshed for some reason.”
Obi Wan smiles to himself. “Good.”
“I am quite famished.” continued Bail. “Care to get something to eat?”
“I could eat.” replied Zane, perking up at the prospect of food.
“Sounds good to me.” Obi Wan added.
“Excelent. I know of a great place not to far from here. We can walk.”

The trio exits the convention center and stroll down a sparsely lit walkway. They travel the path and after a few minutes both Jedi sense what is becoming a familiar presence. The Jedi feel the presence of two individuals approximately fifteen meters ahead. Once they cover that distance Gheeta and Mak stand in the center of the walkway, blocking the trios path.

“He’s not alone Gheeta. Do you think this is wise?” Mak asks.
“I recognize these two. They’re just mechanics for the ship that brought HIM here. If they’re smart, they’ll just keep quiet and we won’t have to kill them.”
“Kill us?!? Are you an assassin?” asked Bail, astonished.

Gheeta and Mak pull hold out blasters from their hidden holsters and aim them at the trio.

“If you’re smart you two will just back up. We have some questions for the good senator here.” threatened Gheeta.
“I’m sorry. I can not allow that.” retorted Obi Wan coolly.
“Fine. Have it your way…” Gheeta sneered, firing three shots at Obi Wan.

Obi Wans lightsaber is in his hand and the blue blade ignited before the first shot leaves the blaster. He easily blocks the shots. He then takes one step forward, spinning the blue blade with subtle wrist movements, and cleaves the blaster into two pieces.

“They’re not mechanics fool…They’re Jedi.” stammered Mak, frozen with fear.
“Credits or not I’m not dealing with Jedi…” Gheeta takes two steps back, then turns and runs up the walkway.

Obi Wan moves to chase him when Zane stops him.

“I'll deal with him.” Zane says with a grin.

Zane raises his arm, aiming at Gheetas back. He flicks his wrist up and his lightsaber fires out of its holder. Zane uses the Force to guide his saber, and his chrome and gold pommel hits Gheeta cleanly in the back of his head, knocking him unconscious. Gheeta instantly drops face first onto the walkway. The clatter of Zanes hilt hitting the ground a split second later echoes down the walkway. Zane uses the Force to recall his saber and it obediently flies into his waiting hand.

“Someones been practicing.” admired Obi Wan.
“Yes. Someone has.” Zane smiled. “What do we do with this one?”

Mak is still frozen to his spot and suddenly realizes his still has his hold out blaster aimed at Obi Wan. He quickly drops it and begins to plead.

“Looks like we’ll be the ones asking questions now.” said Obi Wan. “Let’s see if we can’t get these two detained.”

Bail pulls out his comlink, punches in a frequency, then presses the call switch.

“This is Prince Bail. Home in on my signal and send a security team. We have prisoners that will need to be held for questioning.”
“Yes sir. On the way now.” came the crackled response.

Within minutes a heavy transport arrives with a five member security team, white and blue lights flashing. The security team exits the transport in their matched white/blue uniforms with black helmets and chest armor. They place stun cuffs on Mak and Gheeta, who is still unconscious, and escort them into the transport. Bail confers with the security team officer, instructing him where to take the prisoners for questioning and signing off on the arrest and detainment warrant. The officer returns to the passenger side of the transport and soon the transport begins its journey to the detention facility.

“Well I hope that increased your appetites.” said Zane with a smile. “I’m still hungry.”
“By all means then, let’s get to that restaurant. I’ll not allow Jedi to starve on my home world.” laughed Bail.

CORUSCANT (ABANDONED COMPLEX)

Darth Sidious stands near the long receptacle that holds Anakin Skywalkers broken body. He is smiling broadly, for today will be a good day for the Sith. A new apprentice will begin his training. Medical droids move the casket like container to an oxygen rich, sterile chamber. Once the chamber is sealed one of the droids presses the latch release on Anakins pod. The clamshell lid hisses as it opens. Lord Sidious smiles as Anakins breathing regulates, his eyes open and he begins to stir. He rises from the pod. He has no hair and deep raw scars map across his body. His right arm is missing below his elbow
The medical droids slowly assist Skywalker from the pod. Though he is weakened, Anakins pride keeps him from faltering. The droids lead Anakin to a black bio mechanical suit. He glances in Darth Sidious’ direction as the droids begin fitting pieces of the black suit to Anakin.

“Unfortunately you will only be able to survive in a pure oxygen environment.” said Darth Sidious. “This suit will allow you mobility. I am afraid that your injuries are so severe that you will wear that suit for the rest of your life. I have done all I can.”
“Ch-Chancellor Palpatine?” asked Anakin in a weak voice.
“Your insight serves you well young one.”
“I-I’ve always known…somehow…I knew it was you.”
“I’ve always said you were the strongest Jedi I have ever known. Surviving that fall proves it. You are indeed powerful. More powerful than Master Yoda.”
“P Padme…”
“Senator Amidala has left Coruscant with your former master, Obi Wan. Apparently he informed her that you had died. Strange that Obi Wan could have saved you from that fall, yet he failed to do so. Then he and Senator Amidala leave Coruscant together and have not been heard from since.” Sidious pauses for a moment. “Quite suspicious, is it not?” Darth Sidious said, pacing in front of Skywalker slowly.

A flash of anger runs across Anakins face. Lord Sidious smiles to himself as he senses the hatred.
“I can feel your hatred rising within you. In time I will show you how to harness that power and strike down those that have betrayed you. Is that what you wish? Do you want me to teach you the power of the Dark Side?” asks Sidious, his voice rising slightly as he speaks. “We can be the most feared and powerful creatures in the galaxy. I can show you the power. All you need do is accept it.”

Anakin is in the suit completely now. All that remains is the gloss black helmet. Anakins anger still rising within him. His blue eyes furrowed into a scowl. “I accept”. These are the last words of Anakin Skywalker. The droids fit the breath mask over his face, forever covering the life and promise of the chosen one. The helmet is now placed atop his hairless, scarred head. Once it is secure a droid presses a switch on the chest unit, lights flicker as the unit comes to life. Anakin Skywalker is no more.

“From this moment on you are a Dark Lord of the Sith. You will serve only me.”

CORUSCANT (JEDI TEMPLE)

Master Yoda is in deep meditation in his quarters when a disturbance in the Force is detected. The minute Master slowly makes his way to his communications console within his quarters. He speaks into a small speaker “Master Gallia” and an image of the regal Jedi appears before him.

“Yes Master, How might I help you?” she inquired.
“Gather the Council immediately. A great disturbance I have felt. In motion, this plot against is.”
“As you wish Master.” Adi said as her image faded.

Within minutes the council members are in their appointed seats in the council chamber. They sit in silence awaiting master Yodas news. The Jedi Master begins to tell the other members of the disturbance in the Force.

“A great disturbance have I felt.” he begins. “Fear I do, the fate of our comrades on Dantooine. The plot against us now is in full motion. The Dark Side grows stronger.” Master Yoda says activating the chambers communications receiver. “Time it is to make plans for our survival.”

The image of Obi Wan Kenobi comes to life in the center of the council chamber.

“How is your assignment proceeding Master Obi Wan?” asked the Jedi Master.
“For the most part Master it has been rather uneventful. There was an information broker named Gheeta Thon that followed us from Coruscant. We captured him a few days ago.”
“Determine why he followed, did you?”
“Yes Master. He apparently was in the employ of a Senator Orn Free Taa. It appears that senator was very interested in the whereabouts of a certain individual. Why the senator was so interested, we could not ascertain.”
“And where is this Gheeta Thon now?” asked a council member.
“He and his partner are still being detained by the Alderaanian Royal Security force. It seems armed threats against members of the Royal House are taken very seriously.” Obi Wan replied with a smile. “Senator Organa assures me that they will not be a problem again, and that it would take a large army to take what the Royal House holds.”
“Good. Return here then you and Master Marit may.”
“Are you sure Master?” asked Obi Wan, not believing what he was hearing.
“Yes. More important matters to discuss, you and I. The fate of the Order hangs in the balance.”
“Very well, Master. We will depart immediately.” came Obi Wans subdued response.

Obi Wans image disappears. The council sits in contemplative silence.

ALDERAAN (ROYAL HANGAR)

Tell is prepping the Bards Loot for takeoff. Zane is helping with the preflight checklist while Obi Wan talks with Bail Organa by the entryway.
“Again I apologize for the abruptness of our departure but the Council said it was urgent.” Obi Wan yelled over the whine of the Bards Loot’s engines. “Assure Padme that I will return as soon as I can.”
“I’m sure she knows that. I know we’ll see you soon. May the Force be with you General Kenobi.” Bail said with a salute and a smile.

Obi Wan returned the salute and the smile as he turned and walked up the entryway. Obi Wan pushes the control to raise the entryway once, onboard and flicks the com switch. “I’m in.” he says into it. He then makes his way to the cockpit to join Tell and Zane. Obi Wan straps into the seat directly behind Zane as Tell kicks in the repulsors. The Bards Loot shudders as power routes throughout the ship. The Bards Loot lifts up through the open roof of the hangar and turns to its exit vector.

“What did the council say exactly?” asked Zane.
“Nothing specific, I fear something terrible has happened though.” replied Obi Wan.

The Bards Loot exits Alderaans atmosphere and Tell lines up for the jump to lightspeed. Once the course is laid into the Navcomputer, Tell pushes the lever for the hyperdrive forward and the stars streak to white lines as the Bards Loot shoots into hyperspace.

COURUSCANT (JEDI TEMPLE)

The Bards Loot enters Coruscants atmosphere and is preparing to land at the Jedi temple. Tell swings the Loot to starboard and Obi Wan and Zane can see a small crowd awaiting their arrival. The Bards Loot lands on the rooftop pad and the usual gas vents cycle as the entryway lowers. The crew of the Loot un-strap their harnesses and prepare to disembark. Zane glances quickly out of the viewport.

“Looks like the entire council are here, but I don’t see a band. So much for the hero’s welcome.” joked Zane.
“Always the joker.” laughed Tell.

Obi Wan glared at both of them briefly before raising the hood of his robes. Zane immediately put a serious look on his face, realizing the gravity of the situation as he too raised his hood over his head. The two Jedi walk down the entryway, Tell one step behind. Both Jedi bow to the council once they reach a polite distance.

“Joy it brings me to see you two safe.” Yoda said as the Jedi approached. “However, fear I do for Masters Lah and Fisto.”
“What happened?” Obi Wan asked in a concerned tone.
“Know we do not.” replied Yoda sadly. “Lost contact with them we have. One week it has been since their last report. Tell Rey’Tet, a request the Jedi Order asks of you.” said Yoda, looking up towards the tall strong Bothan. “Need your services again we do.”
“It would be my honor and pleasure to help the Jedi any way I can.” Tell replied with a small bow.
“Good. To Dantooine you must go. Learn what you can of Master Fisto and Lahs fate. Accompany you Master Zane will.” Zane bowed to the Jedi Master to acknowledge his new responsibility. “How soon before you are able to depart?”
“Some supplies need restocking and I need to refuel. That should take only a few hours. As soon as that’s done we can head out.” Tell calculated.
Good. Leave you to that task we will. Come with us Master Obi Wan.”

The council turned together and walked to the lift leading to the interior of the Jedi temple. Obi Wan paces slowly next to Yoda, trailing the other council members.

Obi Wan looked down to the small Jedi Master, one blue eye hidden behind his hood as he turned his head to speak. “Master, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you like this. Afraid.”

“The Dark Side grows stronger Master Kenobi. Much we have to discuss.”

Obi Wan and the council members enter the lift. The lifts doors close as the descent into the temple begins. Yoda looks up to Obi Wan…

“Prepare for the departure and safety of the younglings you must. Then to Tatooine will you go. There you will keep Skywalkers child safe. Easy prey to the Dark Side a child can be.”
“Of course Master. I just don’t understand why Anakins children are so important.”
“Strongly the Force flows through Skywalker blood. Redeem their father they can. Now we must do what we can to protect them.” The wise Jedi replied.

3 DAYS LATER

Obi Wan and the other council members have sent the younglings to a secure location. Tell and Zane are on their way to Dantooine. Anti Jedi sentiment is growing on Coruscant and many protests are beginning to turn violent enough to warrant troopers to be present near the Jedi temple. The Supreme Chancellor has not made any attempts to clear the Jedi of any wrong doing publicly and simply states that he is “Going through the commissions reports.”
Obi Wan is preparing to depart for Tatooine and his thoughts begin to wander. “Perhaps Anakins step father will look after the child. It is the only family Anakin has left. Master Yoda is sure he will look after the child.” Obi Wan is pulled from his thoughts as the comm. unit on his desk flickers to life with the image of Master Yoda.

“Sorry am I to intrude Master Kenobi.” apologized the diminutive Master.
“You’re not intruding at all Master. What can I do for you?”
“Request to see you I do. News from Dantooine I have.”
“Well it’s nice to see it didn’t take long for Tell and Zane to get results. I’ll report to you soon.”

Master Yodas image fades as Obi Wan continues to pack. Once finished he heads to the Jedi Masters quarters. Obi Wan casually strolls through the hallway at a slow pace. His arms folded in front of him, hands hidden inside the sleeves of his robes. He approaches Master Yodas door and is beckoned inside.

“What news did you receive from Zane, Master?” inquired Obi Wan.

Yoda pushes a button near his comm. unit and the image of Zane Marit materializes. Obi Wan recognizes the background, Zane is on the Bards Loot. “Received Master Marits report we have. Good news it is not.” The Master sadly shakes his head. Obi Wan focuses on Zanes image as the report begins…

“There was a bombing in the city of Sarnis on Dantooine. Master Fisto did not survive.” Zane paused for a moment, as if in respect. “Master Ruun Lah did survive the blast, but we could not find him, at least not at first. Tell, it seems is very adept at finding useful information. We were able to locate Master Lah. He continued on with the investigation and found the party responsible for the hotel bombing. There Master Lah uncovered sufficient evidence linking the attack to local political leaders that were funded by a group on Coruscant.” The image of Zane continually fades in and out of focus, as thought the transmission is being interfered with. “Though we still have no proof on the Jedi attack on civilians here, Master Lah believes that that as well can be linked back to Coruscant. But why we can not ascertain.” Again Zane paused, preparing to give more bad news. Zanes image still flickering.
“While trying to leave Sarnis we encountered heavy resistance. Master Lah has been injured, to an extent we all have. We managed to get to the Bards Loot and out of the spaceport. As soon as we left Dantooines atmosphere, we encountered two Republic frigates. They hailed us on an open frequency. Tell thought it best not to reply. Since then we have come under fire by a small force from Dantooine and the Republic Frigates have cut off our hyperspace vector. The cloaking device has been engaged. Once we can clear a hyperspace lane we’ll head back to Coruscant. Zane Marit out.

Obi Wan looks at Yoda, a look of concern on his face. He then glances to the floor, his arms tucked into his dark brown robes as he begins to pace in deep thought. The small green Jedi master watches Obi Wan pace before him.

“Why would Republic frigates fence them in?” Obi Wan said to himself, still pacing. “Zane said that the attack could be linked here to Coruscant. Obviously some one high up is trying to frame us for something, but what and why?”
“Many questions there are. The answers few.” replied Yoda with a low sigh.

A few moments pass as the two Jedi contemplate silently when both sense a dangerous, yet oddly familiar tremor in the Force. Both Jedi leave Yodas quarters as an intrusion alarm sounds through out the temple. The temples emergency defense systems come online and the temple is effectively locked down as thick blast doors seal off various segments of the facility. Small explosions can be heard as the intruders attempt to penetrate deeper into the temple.

“Time for us to leave it is.” Yoda mournfully said.

Obi Wan leads Yoda, now in his hoverseat, out of his quarters and to the Great Hall where other Jedi have gathered to defend the temple or evacuate.

“Master, go, we’ll handle this.” instructed Obi Wan over the sound of heavy blaster fire heard in the distance. Yoda nods and continues on towards the interior tunnel system.

Banging can be heard on the other end of the blast door that leads out to the main hallway. Sparks slide across the top and down the sides making a large rectangular shape. All Jedi present ignite their lightsabers as a deafening explosion blows pieces of the blast door into the Great Hall. Clone troopers file into the hall taking defensive positions to the left and right sides of the blast door.
Through the white smoke a tall figure emerges through the center. He is outfitted in all black. A small lighted square shaped device on his chest. He wears a high gloss armored helmet with shoulder covers. A long black cape that almost touches the floor flows from those broad shoulders. His breathing is amplified through the black angled mask that covers his face. He stares at the Jedi in the hall with their ignited sabers. In a deep raspy voice, pointing in the direction of the Jedi he says…

“If they resist, kill them. Leave General Kenobi to me.” In his black gloved hand he holds a lightsaber of his own. He steps in Obi Wans direction.

Obi Wan runs with great speed down a corridor leading towards the archives. The masked figure walks after him. A young Jedi steps into the invaders path and raises his blade. He is easily swept aside as the tall figure uses the Force to push him aside. The clone troopers begin firing at the Jedi, wave after wave emerge through the blast door.

Obi Wan is approaching a tunnel entrance. He comes to a complete stop as he rounds a corner. Standing in front of him is the dark stranger, his red blade hisses to life.

“You forget that I know this temple as well as you.” the stranger says.
“Who are you?!?”
“Have you already forgotten your padawan learner?”
Obi Wan stares at the stranger. He looks him up and down.
“Anakin…is that you?
“That name no longer has any meaning to me.”
“What’s going on here? Why are we being attacked by the Republic Army? Why are you leading them?”
“When this day is over, I will be the last of the Jedi. You failed me Obi Wan and now all Jedi will suffer. My new master has shown me the power of the Dark Side. Now you will know it too.” He raises his red blade and steps towards Obi Wan. Obi Wans lightsaber snaps to life and blocks the blow. He swings his blade again in a counter clockwise arc and again Obi Wan parries the blow. The blades lock and Obi Wan is pushed backwards.
“Your thoughts betray you Anakin…I sense the conflict within you.”
“There is no conflict. You and all the other Jedi will die.”
“Let go of your hate Anakin. You don’t have to do this.”
“I told you that name no longer has any meaning for me. You are no longer my master.” He swings his red blade in quick short arcs in front of Obi Wan.
“Qui Gon believed in you Anakin. He would have ignored the council’s decision to train you. This is how you honor him?!? What would your mother say to you?”
His red blade vanishes as he stares at Obi Wan, his thoughts hidden behind the black mask. He stands for what seems like days, his heavy breaths amplified through his helmet. Finally…”Go…I owe that to Qui Gon Jinn. When next we meet. You will die.”
Obi Wan turns and enters a hidden access panel as a squad of troopers approach. “Lord Vader, all of the Jedi in the temple are neutralized.”
“Well done.” Vader replies, still staring at the access panel Obi Wan used to escape. Vader turns and briskly walks back down the corridor, his black cape swaying just above the ground as he walks. The troopers split formation opening the center of the corridor to him as he passes.

JEDI TEMPLE (STARFIGHTER HANGAR)

Obi Wan emerges from a hidden access panel and enters a vacant hall near the Jedi starfighter hangar. With his lightsaber still in hand, he cautiously approaches the hangar entrance. Obi Wan taps into the Force and extends his senses outward. He detects no other presence in the hangar. He silently thanks the Force for that and momentarily feels relief. Clipping his lightsaber to his belt, he races to the nearest starfighter, a Kuat prototype. The starfighters cockpit hatch opens as he approaches. Obi Wan then climbs into the fighter, attaching the linking band to his forehead. The starfighter immediately begins its preflight check and hums lightly as the ion engines warm up. Obi Wan sits silently for a brief moment. He enters a series of transmission codes into the communications console.
“R4 transmit this message, scramble code five to the Bards Loot.” The droid acknowledges with a short beep.
“Zane, avoid Coruscant at all costs. The Republic army has invaded the Jedi temple. They were lead by Anakin.” Obi Wan pauses, the weight of his message showing on his face, perhaps even guilt at not being able to prevent this surreal nightmare. He looks back into the com unit and continues…”Anakin is now an agent of evil. He has completely surrendered to the Dark Side. Go into hiding friend. Suppress your presence in the Force. Let no one know you are a Jedi. I know where my path lay know and I must follow it. I wish you all well and May the Force be with you.”

The transmission ends and R4 encrypts and transmits it. The starfighter floats out of the hangar and Obi Wan guides the craft towards the upper atmosphere. He switches through various com channels until he comes to the secure military channels. He looks down at the temple and can see Republic troops still entering and surrounding it, a deep sense of sorrow fills him. The military channels contain no abnormal communications, and make no mention of the attack on the Jedi temple, which Obi Wan finds odd.

“R4 plot the quickest route to…” Obi Wan ponders his choice for a moment. If the Republic has indeed begun to round up the Jedi, he knows he can not fly a Jedi starfighter to Alderaan unnoticed or any other Republic system for that matter…”Tatooine.” Again the droid answers in a series of beeps and whistles as it plots the course.

BARDS LOOT

Tell Rey’Tet managed to find a hyperspace lane and micro jumped out of Dantooines system. Once the micro jump was completed Tell laid in a course for Coruscant and again the Bards Loot lunged into hyperspace. Zane enters the cockpit and exhaustedly falls into the co-pilots seat.

“How’s Master Lah?” inquired Tell.
“I’m not sure. I think he is in a healing trance, still it could go either way. I’ve done all I know how to do.” Zane exasperated.
“Don’t worry kid, I thinks it’s going to take a lot more to take out a Jedi Knight than fighting our way off of some out of the way planet. I think he needs to heal more on the inside.” Tell replied, tapping his chest. “He has a lot of grief to heal from. Losing a close friend the way he did and facing a betrayal on as grand a scale as this could be…it’s a lot to deal with.”
“He is still a Jedi Master; he should be above those feelings. There is no emotion…” Zane began to recite.
“You can stow THAT right now mister…” Tell said, not in an angry way, but the volume of his voice rose slightly. “You have youth. That gives you the luxury of not having made those kinds of bonds with others. Maybe when you grow a little older…and wiser…perhaps not everything will be so black and white. You’ll see the gray too.” Tell finished.

Zane sits in the chair reflecting on what Tell said with a sullen look on his face. Tell rises from the pilots chair and makes his way towards the cargo hold when he notices Zanes expression. The strong Bothan places his hand on Zanes shoulder in a strong but subtle grip.

“I’m sorry kid. I have to remind myself that although you’re a Jedi, you also have a lot of life to experience ahead of you. It’s not my place to tell you what or how you should feel about things.”
“There is no need to apologize Tell. I need to learn that other people’s emotions are their own. I thank you for showing me this.”
“I’m heading to the food processor, want anything?” offered Tell.
“No thank you.” replied Zane.

Tell turns and continues on to the cargo hold as Zane stares out at the white blue haze of hyperspace that surrounds the ship.

CORUSCANT SENATE (NEXT DAY)

Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is about to address the Senate. The Supreme Chancellor rises from his seat and walks forward to address all Senators present. This address carries such weight that it will be broadcast to all systems within the Republic and the familiar Holo Net droids surround him.

“Fellow citizens of the Republic, it is with great sadness that I deliver this news.” starts the Chancellor in a low sad tone. “I have gone over the reports…and verified all of the evidence. It appears that for quite some time the citizens of the Republic have been blinded by the Jedi Order and their true agenda.” The Supreme Chancellor pauses while his words sink in. “The evidence shows that approximately fifteen years ago a Jedi Master named Sifo Diyas went to the planet Kamino and, on behalf of the Jedi council, placed an order for one million clone soldiers.”

There were various gasps, moans and reactions to this statement.

“Further evidence supports Jedi Master Yoda commandeered a legion of troops from Kamino and attacked the Separatists on Geonosis. The Jedi struck the first blow of war.”

Many reactions can be heard within the Senate. “Jedi must go” is chanted throughout the building. There is only a small group of senators that find this hard to believe.

“Even before I took this post as Supreme Chancellor, I have always supported the Jedi. I always believed in their values, but now it appears that that faith was misplaced. We have all been deceived on the grandest of scales…All Republic ties to the Jedi are hereby immediately revoked. They are no longer sanctioned to act on the Republics behalf. I have seized their temple and all Jedi are ordered to surrender to nearest Republic law enforcement. If any Jedi chooses not to surrender, I authorize rewards to be paid on all Jedi bounties.”

The Senate claps and cheers Palpatines words. The light fades from Palpatines face as he continues, turning to sin
