View Full Version : What Are Your Collecting Goals?

The way I look at collecting is having a collection inside of a collection. Some people have alot of Star Wars stuff but they specifically try to collect a set of something.

Myself I have alot of figures moc from the different series-just the ones I like. My collections inside of a collection would be trying to get one of every loose vintage figure, all Ep.1 moc, and one of every different R2-D2 card variation that ever came out.

Realistically, what are your immediate goals (not like "I want one of everything"). What is your collecting passion?

I've just recently started collecting so I don't have much stuff. My current collecting goal is to get as much as I can (especially Leia) as fast as I can.

Basically to have as many action figures of relevant characters from the entire saga. I'm doing pretty well, thus far. Glaring omissions, IMO, include: IG-88, the Trade Fed guys, and the Lars.

I have IG-88 style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

One of the few figures I own. I mainly collect the books/comics.

In '97 I bought a Darth Vader coinbank and eventually a Maul one. I was always sad I never got the C3PO R2D2 one style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif I wish to eventually find one to add it to my collection.

My SW collection is pathetic, hopefully with an infusion of cash I can get some nice action figures. I have an original ROTJ poster in mint condition that's the hilight of my collection style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/satisfied.gif But compared to other fans, my collection is seriously lacking... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif

My goals have changed. I just want all the novels and books I can get (excluding kids books).

i collect many things but my passion is collecting things to do with all the bountyhunters, and Jabba's palace. I'm very happy because I recently got my vintage mail away Dengar for nothing and I had been looking for him for ages. So thank you to Mr Benny Polombo for his kind donation to my collection. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif

I'll be satisfied for the time being when I get a Master Replicas prop (preferably a lightsaber) and the lego ultimate collectors set of the Star Destroyer Avenger.

I've had a dream for sometime of putting together a short film depicting a battle of the Clone Wars using action figures (and lot of practicle effect like exploding packages of meat and hairspray and lighter flamethrowers style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif ), so I'll need alot of action figures to do that.

I've got way too much money tied up in my collection. I have a lot of the hard to find comics, a few original movie posters taken right from the theater and lots of other things.

My main goals that I'm working on right now are the Hamilton Plate Collections, just bought one set the 3 movie plates series off ebay.

The Star Wars Unleashed Figures

The soundtracks on Vinyl Album, I have ANH but I'm working on obtaining the other two.

And anything else that sparks my interest.

I have a lot of the action figures and to be honest I can't stand em' They're too small and drive me crazy, the ones I have were all given to me so I don't complain.

My old goal was to have every 3 3/4" figure. But now I just collect what I can when I can.

I use to be very strict about everything being MOC but that's changed as well. Now I open them all and set them up on display shelves.

My current goal is just to enjoy the hobby of collecting and get what I can.

Well if i had the house space (and money) i would collect as much of everything as i could. I have come to realise though now as im getting older - you cant own everything. When i was a young boy i had the vintage figures/playsets/costumes etc everything childlike related. As i look back now part of me wishes i had held onto as much as i could - but sometimes...just sometimes you cant as hard as it is to come to terms with. My main goal now is to collect the entire EU novels before anything else and maybe some graphic novels. I have a very limited space in my room that will occupy my collection so i have to be careful what i decide to collect in terms of merchandise. I am re-designing my new room so i will collect SW film posters from all 6 films and hang them accordingly and i am building several new book racks/cases for my novels. Apart from the odd wall plaque or stand thats my collection - and as i always say - just because you dont have everything does not mean your any less of a fan.

^Mace was my first also! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif Like Bendak, I want to hang up all 6 theatrical posters together, plus I'd also like to continue getting novels and an occasional figure. Oh, I'm also going to be trying my damnedest to get the R2 Cookie Jar offer, because I would love to see that in my future home. I can see it now: my future wife having a conversation with poor R2:
--R2 chirps hopefully
--"No," she says, "I don't like you, either."
--R2 beeps mournfully style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Oh, I hope to get ahold of Battlefront and KOTOR II when they go down to $20 apiece.

Hey, TK... catch!

Xipster: Stop Motion Animation Program (http://www.xipster.com/extlanding.php?var_a=GOOGLE)

I haven't tried it out myself, but I have a similar goal (actually, I want to remake the Saga, but this time include scenes from the novels that were left out of the films... yes, that includes Jar Jar, people!). I don't have the computing power for it yet, but soon... oh so soon... well, maybe a little later than soon...

I do fall under that "gotta catch 'em all" category, but for the benefit of my collection, I just nab all the inexpensive stuff ($100 and under) and have gotten pretty far, especially considering that I collect animation and film scores galore. That pretty much leaves out Gentle Giant, Sideshow, and most Master Replicas in the wait pile, much to my twitching chagrin.

However, there is one piece, one Holy Grail (or Holocron, if you will) that I consider to be the apex of my collection if I could have it:

Icons Han Solo in Carbonite life-size replica. Oh. Oh. Gush. Just to hold. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif

Nowadays, during a movie year and all, I'm too busy playing catch-up with what's out now. Oh, and I'm an opener, big time.

After I get married in Sep (and therefore don't have to worry about saving for it), I want to rebuild my old collection of vintage stuff. Been looking for spare parts for my old toys on Ebay and there's loads out there.

But my wife-to-be probably won't be too impressed.

I have TPM on picture disc vinyl album - were you aware of this...its in a gatefold sleeve - with great images from the movie...not sure how many were made....i think its pretty rare

as for me and my goals...

i'm clearing out some action figures (space limitations), but now mainly collect magazines & books, and anything that i can put in scrap books, postcards, free promos, flyers, (sickbags), andything neat really - odd things ....trying to get all the Vader figures on different cards, buying the galactic heroes sets for my daughter (opening them though - to play with them)...but you really should just collect what you can...even Sansweet has given up trying to get everything...

but its hsould be about fun...and there's no fun in collecting if you are ever gonna complete the collection...style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

I haven't had much of a focus until recently. Now I'm trying to rebuild my vintage loose collection. I want to complete the original twelve then I will move to the next set.

I'm trying to collect the relevant figures, and I'm mainly focusing on the major figures in the Skywalker/ Solo clan (not just family members, but friends too).

I'm searching intently, for atleast two Leias, Mara, Senator Palpatine, 1 more Luke, and a young Anakin Skywalker. (my loven the internet))
