OK here is the revised version...Let me know what you think.
The Last Apprentice
Stars twinkle in the distance as two humans gaze upon them. Their hands clasped behind their backs. The mood…somber. Both are dressed in beige white tunics. The shorter of the two humans, Zane Marit, bears the braids of a Padawan learner in the Jedi Order. The taller one is Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Although the two are close in age, Skywalker ascended to the title of “Knight” for his actions in the defense of the planet Kamino. Anakin displayed brilliant combat strategy and piloting abilities in defense of the Republics cloning facility. Had the planet fallen into Confederacy control and the cloning facility lost, the Republic would have lost its chief weapon in their war with the Separatists. Soldiers. Well trained soldiers. True that the Republic had the Confederacy of Independent Systems outgunned in war material, it was the trained clones that made those weapons deadly.
“Master Skywalker, do you really believe that this operation will end the Clone War?”
“Absolutely.” Answered Skywalker, remaining in his calm and meditative state. “The Confederacy has taken heavy losses, and though their droids are easily replaced, they are no match for trained soldiers. And certainly no match for Jedi. More to the point though, It has come to my attention that many of the Confederate leaders from the Trade Federation including Gunray himself will be there as observers. Once they are eliminated, this war is over.” Zane reflected for a moment. “There has been much death in this conflict. But you’re sounding more like an assassin, not a Knight.” Anakin opened his eyes, leaned towards Zane and said with a slight grin “You have no idea.”
Zane stared at Anakin with a wide eyed stare.
“Follow your thoughts through to conclusion Zane. If the confederate leaders can’t lead, the war would be over.”
“How do you know the Confederate leaders will be at this test? Tactically speaking, it seems like an unwise risk for the CIS to take.”
“Lets just say…I have felt it.” Skywalker replied.
“I have no feelings on this whatsoever. I feel anxiety and some fear from the crew, as well as pride. But I sense nothing outside of this ship.”
Anakin smiled lightly. “You still have much to learn padawan.”
Zane was a highly skilled apprentice but he still had much to learn in interpreting the Force. His slain master, Tarn Il Aeyin, felt that this was reason enough to withhold his recommendation for Zane to take the Jedi trials. Zane resented his master for that decision; however, Zane did not have a lot of time to dwell on that. Master Aeyin had fallen at Bogden recently during the Clone campaigns. Zanes feelings of resent quickly turned to grief. And determination. Zane vowed to himself that he would become a knight to honor his fallen master. The Jedi council decided to temporarily place him under Skywalkers supervision. Some on the council hoped the new knight would take him on as his padawan, feeling that because Zane was older, Anakin would not feel the pressure of training a padawan that was still a child.
Anakin felt a buzzing sensation on his right side. “Skywalker” he spoke into his comlink. “Yes master.” He replied after a moment. “They’re ready for us now Zane. Let’s go.” The two Jedi headed off in the direction of the combat operations center.
The twin doors slide open as Anakin and Zane walk into a brightly lit room. Masters Windu, Kenobi, Gallia, and Mundi are seated at a rectangular table. Anakin and Zane both bow to the masters present. “Please be seated.” Master Windu says while motioning to two empty seats. “We are expecting a message from the Supreme Chancellor at any moment.” The two Jedi take their seats and pour themselves a glass of water from a pitcher stationed at the edge of the table. Anakin uses the Force to levitate the pitcher back to its place. Master Obi Wan Kenobi signaled to Master Windu that the Chancellor had made contact and was ready to give his instructions. The communication receiver rises from the center of the table and flickered to life with a holographic image of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.
“Greetings esteemed Jedi. Our intelligence operatives have confirmed that indeed the Confederates have a new weapon of great destructive power. They are testing the weapon in the Mechis system. We have also learned that many leading members of the Trade Federation, Banking clans, and Commerce guilds will be aboard.” The Chancellors tone became even more serious. “The Jedi will not only be instrumental to this operation, but absolutely necessary. We have learned that Count Dooku will personally oversee this test.” Anakin reflexively grabbed at his mechanical arm at the mention of Count Dooku. “In light of this information, I authorize project EndGame. Above all else, this weapons facility must be neutralized. We may never get another chance at this without a full scale assault. May the Force be with you. Farewell.” The image of the Supreme Chancellor winked out.
“I have a bad feeling about this.” Obi Wan said, oblivious to the fact he said it aloud.
Operation “EndGame” was a plan that was drawn up quickly in response to the Republics Intelligence operatives in the Mechis system. It called for either the destruction of the weapon and the plant that built it, or secure the foundry for the Republic. Republic military strategists felt a small group stood a better chance of success than launching a full scale assault. The Supreme Chancellor immediately petitioned the Jedi for this dangerous mission.
“Do you have an apprehension, Master Kenobi?” asked Ki Adi Mundi. “The Chancellor has attempted many times to end this conflict peacefully, only to get spurned by Dooku and his forces.”
“We must use this situation to our advantage if we are going to end this war. The Republic as well as the order can not afford to continue this war. The cost in lives of Jedi alone…” Master Windu added shaking his head remorsefully.
“I understand what this war has done to the order. Yet I feel that there is something else behind all of this. It makes me…uncomfortable.”
“We must sometimes do things we do not like for the greater good. War takes its toll on all creatures. If there is something we can do to bring about its end, then we are obligated to do so.”
“Master Gallia is correct” nodded Mace.
“We will all meet at the docking bay at 0700.” Said Mace. “See you all then.”
The Jedi all rose and bowed to one another then filed out of the operations center.
CORUSCANT - SENATE LIVING QUARTERS
Senator Padme Amidala is seated in a spacious and luxuriously decorated room. Moss paintings hang from the walls and sculptures are littered throughout the gold trimmed room. This is Senator Bail Organas personal residence. Hovering in front of her is Jedi Master Yoda in his floating chair. Senator Organa enters the room from the left carrying a tray of assorted refreshments. Sliced Nubian Starfruit, crackers, and a pitcher of chilled water with three small glasses and plates are neatly arranged on the serving tray.
“May I pour you a glass of water Master Yoda?” asks Bail.
“Appreciate your generosity I do.” Yoda said diplomatically
“Master Yoda, I asked you to come here, to meet with me…because there is something you must know. Anakin and I have been married for almost two years now. We both knew this was forbidden by the Jedi code, but we love each other very much.” Padme explained. Her expression was one of regret. She felt almost ashamed of herself as she looked at Master Yoda. To her surprise, the great and wise Jedi smiled at her.
“Hmmm…So that it why young Skywalker has been happier. The worst we feared after his mothers death.” Yoda said solemnly.
“You aren’t angry with him?” Padme asked in a shocked tone.
“Angry! No not angry. At peace young Skywalker is. Joy this brings to me.”
“It was my fault it was kept a secret. We were afraid he would be expelled from the Jedi order. That was something I couldn’t live with. Will he still be allowed in the order?”
“Confer with the council I must, but assure you I can that Skywalker will remain a Jedi. More to tell me you have?!?” inquired Yoda pointing his short finger at Padmes abdomen.
“How did you know?” exclaimed Amidala suspiciously.
“Strong am I with the Force.” Yoda replied closing his eyes. “Strong too will your child be.”
Bail Organa lights up with the news and seems very excited.
“How long have you know?” he asks.
“Not long at all. Anakin doesn’t even know yet. Please don’t tell him. He’ll want to hear it from me.”
“Tell him you can once he returns. Delighted he will be.”
“If there is anything I can do for you Padme, please let me know. I’ll be glad to help you any way I can.” stammered Bail.

TRADE FEDERATION FLAGSHIP (BRIDGE)
Nute Gunray, Viceroy of the Trade Federation is seated on a plush, highly polished command chair. Lott Dodd, his second in command is by his side. The image of Count Dooku is in front of them on a communications monitor.
“I am pleased to hear you are anxious to receive us, my friend.”
“It is our pleasure Count.” Gunray said bowing towards the Counts image.
“Our friends and allies are anxious to see our new weapon in action. I am assured that it will remove all opposition from our path as we claim the Confederations sovereignty. The Republic will have little choice but to accept our demands.” Claimed Dooku. “I have assured our friends that your ship would be the perfect place to observe our demonstration. I trust that you will not fail me on this account.”
“We are quite anxious to see this weapon as well.” Replied Gunray. “Please assure our comrades that their security is our first priority. No harm will come to them.”
“Excellent! I know my faith in you is not misplaced.” The Count gave a short bow and ended the transmission.
“Make sure all droids are ready.” Gunray commanded. “You are in charge of security.”
“As you wish.” Bowed Dodd.
MAJESTIC FAITH (0700: DOCKING BAY)
All Jedi are present. They gather at the entrance ramp to a small freighter. “Let’s get on board. Then we will go over our plan one last time.” Windu said as he walked up the ramp. The other Jedi followed him up the ramp single file. As the Jedi filed into the lounge section of the ship, they all took notice of a large muscular Bothan. The Bothan eyed each Jedi as they walked past him and took seats in an open circle booth. Once the Jedi were all seated, Master Windu spoke. “Tell Rey’tet will be joining us on the first part of our mission. He will pilot us to the Federation Flagship.” Mace then nodded to Tell and the Bothan dimmed the lights in the lounge. A holographic map appeared on the wall in front of the Jedi.
“This freighter has been custom fitted to carry a cloaking device. Normally a ship this small can not carry one. We can thank the Republics engineers for converting the cargo hold into the cloaking device housing.” Tell said with a smile. “My part in this, if I understand correctly, is to ferry you to the Federations Flagship with the cloaking device on, to this point here.” pointing to the underside of the command module section of the Federation Flagship. “Attach the docking collar while you sneak aboard their Flagship. Once you reseal and pressurize the collar, I retract it and get the hell out of the way. If everything goes as planned, you take control of the ship and I land in the hangar bay. We then extract back to Republic space. Is that correct?”
“Correct indeed.” Replied Ki Adi with a nod.
A new image appeared on the map. It was a schematic of the Federation Flagship. “Once inside the Federation ship we will use their ventilation shafts to move to our designated target areas. Anakin and Zane, your job is to take the bridge. It is imperative that you keep the Federation from activating all of their droids. Make sure you keep your signal disruptors on you at all times.” Instructed Windu. “The rest of us will locate their observation room and round up the CIS observers. Dooku should be with them. Remember that once we are on the flagship we are on our own.”
“I want Dooku.” Anakin said with a dark tone. “Why do I have to go to the bridge?”
“Because your thoughts betray you Anakin.” Replied Obi Wan. “Your thoughts are of revenge. Your feelings will cloud your judgment and jeopardize our mission.”
“We feel it would be better if you were not placed in a direct confrontation with Dooku.” Added Mundi.
“You must still think I am that “unpredictable” padawan I used to be.” Anakin said as he looked towards Obi Wan.
Tell butted into the conversation “Time for us to leave. I suggest you get yourselves strapped in. I hear you’re a decent pilot.” Tell said, looking at Anakin. “Perhaps you can help me at the navigation console?” He then turned and headed towards the cockpit. The Jedi left the lounge area to get seated. Anakin was the first out the door, leaving in a huff. Only Obi Wan and Mace remained in the lounge.
“I know that Anakin has exceptional skills, but his emotions, I fear, will lead him down a dark path. He is too headstrong and acts rashly.”
“Obi Wan, you must come to a point when you realize that you have done all you can for him. You have trained him well and you must let him make his own decisions. Not decisions you would make.” Mace said. “If he does make a mistake, hopefully he learns from it.”
“Do you think it is wise to saddle him with an apprentice?” Obi Wan asked apprehensively.
“The council feels it is the right decision. As do I. It will hopefully give Anakin the guidance he needs to act more responsibly.” Mace said in a reflective tone. “Besides, this is not a permanent pairing. Zane is almost ready for the trials. Let’s go join the others. We have a long trip ahead of us.”
Windu and Kenobi enter the general seating area. Anakin is seated in the co-pilots station. He is laying the course for their rendezvous point. He still has traces of a scowl on his face, but having the task of co-pilot has calmed him down. He would much rather pilot, but it is still better than being only a passenger.
“We have been cleared for launch. Is the course laid in?” Asked Tell. “Yes.” Replied Anakin. “Excellent. Let’s get this party started then, shall we?” With that, Tell takes control of the freighter and fires the repulsors. The freighter swings to port to face the magnetic containment field. “Republic freighter Bards Loot to Republic carrier Majestic Faith control, requesting final clearance.” Spoke Tell into his console comm unit “Republic freighter Bards Loot, you are cleared for vector oh three oh. Maintain safe speed to the clearing zone and good fortune on your journey. Majestic Faith control out.” Tell pushed the control yoke forward and the Bards Loot passed through the MagCon smoothly. After clearing the cluttered traffic around the Majestic Faith, Tell lined up the ship to their hyperspace jump point. He pushed the lever to the hyperdrive motivator forward and the stars streaked to lines of white as the Bards Loot shot into hyperspace.
CORUSCANT ABANDONED INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX (HANGAR)
Count Dooku kneels to an approaching figure wrapped in a black cloak, his eyes hidden behind the cowl. “Rise my friend.”
“Master Sidious, I have arranged for our demonstration. Our Neimodian allies were all to willing to receive us, just as you knew they would.”
“Yes. They are predictable.” Replied Sidious.
“You have done well Lord Tyranus. Now go to Mechis III and await my final instructions. When your task is complete, we will be the most powerful and feared people in the Galaxy.”
“Your wish is my command, Lord.” Count Dooku turned and entered his solar sail equipped Punworcca 116 class ship. Tibanna gas vents from the ramp as it seals. The ship rises and flies out of the hangar. Darth Sidious walks towards his lair. He is laughing a shrill evil laugh that resonates and echoes throughout the hangar.
COUNT DOOKUS SOLAR SAIL (COCKPIT)
Count Dookus solar sail disengages as he approaches the Trade Federation ship. Count Dooku’s droid pilot FA-4 had been cleared to land in the main hangar and was going through the landing cycle. Static crackled in the comm units speaker.
“We have everything prepared in our conference chamber.” came the Viceroys voice. “We have a droid standing by to take you to the chamber once you land.”
“Thank you my friend. I greatly appreciate it.” answered Dooku. “I will see you shortly then.”
The Counts sloop enters the hangar, swings 180 degrees then lands. The boarding ramp extends from the rear of the sloop. Count Dooku exits his ship followed by two Super Battle Droids. A highly polished protocol droid is waiting for him.
“I am TC-14 it is a pleasure to meet you Count.” said the droid. “My Masters have instructed me to show you to the main conference chamber. Refreshments will be served once you arrive.”
“Very well.” replied the Count.

TRADE FEDERATION FLAGSHIP (CONFERENCE CHAMBER)
Count Dooku arrives at the chamber flanked by two Super Battle Droids, his personal bodyguards. “You honor us with your presence Count.” Nute Gunray says with a bow.
“Nonsense, my friend. It is I who am honored.” Dooku replied, returning the bow. “I am honored to be amongst all of you my friends.” He said loudly, making a sweeping gesture to encompass every being in the chamber.
“We can dispense with the pleasantries, Count, and get directly to business.” Said the representative of the Banking Clan. “The Banking Clan as you know has placed substantial amounts of credits into this war. Credits we expected to be placed on the winning side.”
“We are very much interested in this secret weapon of yours Count.” Chimed in the Techno Union representative. “Anything that will turn this war back to our advantage is welcome.”
There is much noise in the chamber as various beings mumble their opinions about the Confederacy and its status in the war.
“We should all just rejoin the Republic!” an anonymous opinion is voiced.
“Calm down my friends.” Dookus voice cut through the noise. His voice is strong and confident as it echoes through the chamber. “I assure you that I share your concerns in this matter. We sorely underestimated the Republics ability to gather a sufficient army to repel ours. This was a setback and negated our advantage. But now we have a weapon that will swing the advantage back to us.”
“Well what is it and what can it do?” inquired one representative.
“We will be field testing a weapon that has enough destructive power that it will completely destroy a Grand Republic cruiser with a single blast.” Answered Dooku. “The size of this weapon is of such proportion, no single star ship can hold it. Therefore the weapon and its firing systems are based on a small moon near Mechis III.”
“I still don’t see how we are going to field test a weapon we can not move.” The Banking Clan rep stated.
“This, my friends, is the grand vision. Our Geonosian allies have designed this as a transport.” The Count displays a holographic image of a sphere. The top section houses a concave disk. “This image does not do the design justice my friends. This mobile battle station will be the size of a small moon and will strike immediate fear in the Republic. They will be unable to defend themselves against a weapon of such destructive power.”
“How do we test this weapon Count? Surely we cannot move the weapon now. How do we lure the Republic here?” Asked a member of the Corporate Alliance.
“I have arranged for the Republics Intelligence to find certain information that I am sure they will want to investigate. This should give you an accurate idea of what to expect during our little demonstration.”
The lights dim in the chamber and a red and green image appears in the air. The planet Mechis III is bracketed by the two opposing fleets. The Republic fleet is further out from Mechis III than the Confederate forces. There is great detail in the vessels shown between the two fleets. Like pieces on a dejarik board, the vessels line up in their standard attack formations. The demonstration shows a Republic battle group consisting of four Battle Cruisers, the largest vessels in the Republic fleet, at the rear of the fleet side by side. Next are six Republic Carriers, five Destroyers, and various other small frigates and gunships. A bright green stream emerges from a small moon and hits a Republic Battle Cruiser. A bright ball of light and sparks ensues. The image of the cruiser disappears from the Republics fleet.
“Indeed this seems to be the weapon that will give us the advantage we need in this war, Count” Spoke the Techno Union representative.
“The Banking Clan will be more than pleased. If the weapon works as demonstrated Count.” Said the Banking Clan member smiling grandly.
BARDS LOOT COCKPIT
The hyperspace proximity alarm begins to beep. Tell counts down and pulls back on the motivator lever. Streaks of light collapse back into stars. The planet Mechis III can bee seen in the forward view. “Any sign of the Federations Flagship?” Asked Windu.
“Nothing on visual.” Replied Tell. “Starting long range scanning now.”
“He’s here…on the opposite side of the second moon.” Anakin stated. “I sense his presence.”
“Are you sure?” asked Zane.
“Well there is definitely something on the other side of that moon.” Tell chimed in. “The mass indicates that it is the size of the flagship.”
“Engage the cloaking device and set us on an intercept course.” Ordered Windu.
Tell punched in the arming code for the cloaking device. The Bards Loot shudders as the cloaking engines engage. Tell navigates the Bards Loot outside of the moons gravity wells. The Federation Flagship finally appears in the forward view. “Perhaps it is time to make our way to the airlock.” Stated Master Gallia.
“Once I have the Loot in position and the airlock sealed, I will await your signal to detach. Good luck to you all.”
“We’re Jedi, we don’t need luck.” Zane said with a light grin.
Tell drifted under the central command section of the flagship. The forward view became a Heads Up Display. Red laser lines scanned the surface until a specific spot was found. Tell guided a blue targeting bracket around the outer hatch. “I have targeted your entry point. Stand by for airlock release.” Tell said into the Loots com. A small chamber extended from the top section of the Bards Loot. It was roughly the height of two humans with a rubber sealed edge. Tell magnetically sealed the airlock to the Federation ships hull. “Give me a second to pressurize the lock.” Tell said once again into the com. The light indicator on the airlocks outer door went from red to green as the chamber became pressurized. Master Windu opened the outer door of the air lock, then the second door. He then climbed up to the outer hatch of the Federations ship. He removed a small metallic device and placed it on the right corner of the hatch. The seal demagnetized and opened with a loud hiss. Once all the Jedi entered the hatch, Anakin resealed it then banged on the hatch door with the pommel of his lightsaber. The sound echoed throughout the Bards Loot. Tell disengaged the airlock and dropped the Loot in a slow turn to port. “Jedi or not. You’re still going to need a lot of luck.” He muttered to himself.
TRADE FEDERATION FLAGSHIP (BRIDGE)
“Sir! A seal in the lower cargo hold has opened!” Squealed a Neimodian manning a control desk.
“Are we venting atmosphere!?” Asked Lott Dodd.
“No.”
“That’s impossible. There is no way our hull can be breached without losing atmosphere!”
“Wait! The hold has not opened. There must be a glitch in the sensors.”
“We had better be safe. Send one squad to check out that hold. I will contact the Viceroy. He wanted to be made aware of anything out of the ordinary.”
TRADE FEDERATION FLAGSHIP (CONFERENCE CHAMBER)
Nute Gunray is sitting while Count Dooku is addressing the various representatives of the Confederacy. The com button flashes on the chair. “What is it?” Inquires Gunray.
“You wanted to know if anything unusual happens.” Dodd said timidly
“Yes, what is it?
“A sensor for the lower cargo hold flashed.”
“Are we losing atmosphere?” Asked Gunray.
“No. We may have a glitch with the sensor. I have dispatched a squad to investigate.”
“Very well. Report back to me when their sweep is complete.” Nute said gruffly.
FLAGSHIP (CARGO HOLD)
There is no light. All Jedi are aboard the flagship. “Lets light up.” Said Mace. Each Jedi pulled a small glow rod from their utility pockets and switched them on. The hold appears to be empty. “We need to find our entry ventilation shaft. According to the schematic it should be up 2 levels from this hold.”
“There. In that corner.” Zane said while aiming his light. “We should be able to get to the shaft from there.” Zane’s’ light found a built in wall ladder that went up approximately twenty-five meters. At the top and to the left was a ledge with two large round shaft covers.
“Remember that there will be sensors placed throughout the shaft. Be mindful not to set them off.” Warned Obi Wan.
“How do you know there will be sensors in the shaft?” asked Zane.
“I’ve had some experience running around in Federation ships.” replied Kenobi with a large grin.
“Lets move.” said Master Windu.
Just then there was a loud rolling sound as the lock on the holds door was turned. Instantaneously, all six glow rods were off and lightsabers in hand. A small crack of light shone as the hold door slowly opened. Eight Federation Battle droids marched into the hold taking defensive positions as they entered, blasters at the ready. After their initial sweep the droids form into a single line. The Squad leader of the droids (indicated by the yellow stripes on his mechanical arm) ordered the others to turn on their shoulder mounted lights. Eight lights flicked on simultaneously. “You two will sweep down the center of the hold.” The squad leader said in his mechanized voice.
“Roger Roger” came the reply. They started down the center.
“You two will sweep that side.” The leader said pointing to the left. “You two will take that side.” He said pointing to the right. “We will cover the entrance.” The droids fanned out in their appointed directions and slowly moved forward. As the droids fan out. Anakin and Zane move to take position behind the droids covering the entrance. Master Windu moves to take on the two droids in the center. Obi Wan moves to intercept the droids on the left and Master Ki Adi Mundi heads towards the droids on the right.
“Report.” Commanded the squad leader. “Do you see an-“. The droids question was cut short as a streak of blue light shot through its chest. All the droids turned to see what the disturbance was. Another blue flash appeared and the droid next to the leader fell forward. Its head fell next to it a split second later. The other six droids prepared to fire. They never got the opportunity. Masters Windu, Kenobi, and Mundi quickly dispatched the remaining droids.
Master Gallia was already on the ledge as the other Jedi quickly joined her. Obi Wan quickly cut the vent covers off of the shafts. “We had better hurry. If they don’t already know we’re here. They will soon.” Anakin and Zane were the first ones in the shaft.
“Keep your minds clear.” instructed Master Windu as the two Jedi entered the right vent. “The force will guide you.” Anakin and Zane disappeared into the vent.
“So will this.” smiled Anakin.
“So will what?” asked Zane.
Anakin pulled out his signal disruptor and pushed a small button. A small lid flipped up and a holographic tracker lit within Anakins mechanical palm. The tracker is represented as a small red triangle. There are two other small dots on the tracker. One green and one blue.
“This will take me where I need to go.” said Anakin.
“And where is that?”
“The bridge.” replied Anakin, looking up from the tracker without moving his head.
“How did you get that?” asked Zane.
“A friend. Let’s go.” Anakin said icily.
The two Jedi headed off in the direction of the blue dot shown on the tracker.

FLAGSHIP (BRIDGE)
“Has there been a report from the squad that went to the cargo hold?” asked Lott Dodd.
“No. Not yet.”
“Well ask them what’s taking so long.” Dodd said in a panicking voice.
“…There is no response. There may be interference. They are at the bottom of the ship.”
“Track them and take us to security level three. I want the shields up!” commanded Dodd. “I will contact the Viceroy.”
“There is no signal from the droids. I can not track them.”
As Dodd reached his comm station, a vent cover blows off a shaft knocking him down. Two Jedi emerge from the shaft with lightsabers drawn. Zane lands and deflects two laser bolts before slicing through the comm. unit that Dodd was near, rendering it useless. Anakin leaps from the shaft landing between two droids beheading both with a simple overhand spin.
“Everybody over there.” ordered Anakin, pointing to a spot in front of the blast doors. “If anyone comes through those blast doors firing, they’ll be the first ones hit.” Anakin said with a grin.
Zane slashed and sliced through certain control panels.
“All militia droids should be deactivated now.”
An icy sensation chills both Jedi and they stare at one another for a brief moment.
“Do you sense something?” Zane asked.
“Stay here. Watch them. I’ll be right back.” Anakin said as he ran through the blast doors.
FLAGSHIP (SHAFT)
Masters Kenobi, Gallia, Mundi, and Windu are still heading towards the chamber. All four of the masters stop as they sense a disturbance.
“There is a disturbance in the Force.” Exclaimed Obi Wan
“We all sense it.” agreed Gallia.
“I feel something terrible has happened.” Ki Adi said.
“No. It hasn’t happened. Yet.” replied Mace.
“Well we had better move. And fast.” Obi Wan said as he moved with great speed toward the disturbance. The others followed close behind.
FLAGSHIP (CONFERENCE CHAMBER)
There is much banter in the chamber as all the Confederate representatives discuss the possible uses for the grand weapon. Count Dooku is seated next to the Viceroy. They are book ended by the Counts Super Battle droid bodyguards. The Count is enjoying a Corellian brandy as he looks upon the other Confederates. A single word enters his mind.
“Now.”
Dooku stands and places his glass on the lavish table. He enters a code into a metal band on his wrist. The two Super Battle droids come to life and fire at every being in the room. All of the Confederates are dead lifeless bodies, smoke rising from them. The droids are back in their original state.
“What is the meaning of this?!?” a fluttered Viceroy cries. He tries to rise but can not.
“I am sorry my friend, but my master won’t allow for any witnesses.”
Gunray looks down to see a scarlet red blade in the center of his chest. Count Dooku pushes his blade deeper into the Viceroy as he gasps his last breath.
Count Dooku withdraws his blade from the Viceroys lifeless body. He looks up towards the ceiling. “Master Kenobi, so good of you and your friends to join me. I hope you don’t plan on disappointing me as you did in our last meeting.”
Obi Wan launches himself at Dooku from inside the shaft, lightsaber drawn. Obi Wan use the Force to push the vent cover at Dooku. He deflects it easily. Obi Wan keeps pressing his attack swinging his blue blade in short precise arcs towards Dooku. The Count is able to parry the blows, but is clearly on the defensive.
“Master Kenobi I see you have made a moderate improvement in your saber skills.” taunted the Count.
“More than you know.” replied Obi Wan.
The Count uses the Force to throw an empty chair at Obi Wans back. Obi Wan senses this, turns and splits the chair into two pieces. Dooku seizes this opportunity to use a Force lightning attack. The blue streaks take hold of Kenobi and Dooku swings him to a wall, knocking him unconscious.
Masters Windu, Gallia, and Mundi were now out of the shaft. Windu looks at the unconscious Obi Wan then back to Dooku.
“You know we’re here to end this Dooku.”
“Then end this we shall Master Windu.”
A purple beam of light extends from the hilt of Master Windus lightsaber. Master Gallias and Mundis green blades hum to life. Master Gallia circles towards Dooku from the right, while Ki Adi moves to the left. Count Dooku raises his scarlet blade in a salute towards the Jedi Masters.
The Count swings his red blade in a crisscross pattern as the Jedi approach. Mace swings his purple blade in a high over head swing. Dooku parrys the blow, slowly moving to his right. Ki Adi tries to block the Counts movement by thrusting and jabbing his green blade at the Count. Furious flashes of scarlet, green, and purple filled the air as Dooku maneuvered slightly more to his right. Suddenly Count Dooku leaps back wards onto the edge of the ventilation shaft as heavy blaster fire catches the Jedi unaware. Master Gallia is hit and falls to the floor. Masters Windu and Mundi reacted just soon enough to deflect a rapid burst of laser fire. With the two Masters distracted by the Counts bodyguards, Dooku uses his advantage and throws his saber at Ki Adi. Guiding his lighted blade using the Force, Dooku strikes Mundis back, piercing his chest. Mundi falls forward. Dookus saber is back in his hand now. Master Windu spins his violet saber blocking blaster fire and re-directing it back at the droids. Eventually one Super Battle droid takes one too many hits and is destroyed. Mace Windu presses his attack forward keeping a defensive angle between Dooku and the droid. Soon the second droid also falls, but not before sneaking a shot past Master Windus defenses. Mace is struck in his right hand. Though Mace shows no sign of pain on his face the Count knows the Jedi Master is severely hurt.
“Master Windu, your bravery never ceases to amaze me.”
“But your treachery amazes me Dooku” replied Mace. “Why have you started this war? You were once one of us. What corrupted you so completely?”
“I have seen the slow decaying of the Republic my friend. I could not allow myself to defend political ideals that I no longer believed to have value.”
“But the Jedi code is not about a political ideal or alliance. It is for justice, fairness for all sentient creatures. It was a code to which you swore your life.”
“Master Windu, surely you don’t believe the Jedi are not political pawns. They answer to the Supreme Chancellor. Think about that. Who can request the Jedi at a moments notice. Who makes policies and law according to the wishes of the Senate?” Mace stood in contemplative silence for a moment. Soon a disbelieving look crawled across his face. “Come now Master Windu. Surely the pieces must be falling in place for you now.” taunted Dooku.
“You refer to the Sith Lord that has control of the Senate. The one you told Obi Wan about?...You’re saying that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is the Dark Lord of the Sith?”
“Your insight has served you well Master Windu. However my master would not like you to run around with that information. So, as you said earlier, lets end this.”
Count Dookus scarlet blade flashed back to life as he lunged towards Windu. Mace was able to parry Dookus blow barely. The shock of the news he just heard had delayed his reaction. The Count was not surprised to learn that Mace was just as adept with his lightsaber using his off-hand. Still, Dooku pressed his attack with wild abandon, hoping to create an advantage. Mace back flipped out of the conference chamber to get distance from Dookus attack. As Mace landed he noticed at least twenty battle droids standing motionless outside the chamber. As Dooku rushed through the chamber doors, Mace used the Force to push battle droids into Dooku. The Count sliced his way through the droids, making his way closer to where Mace stood. Mace leapt into the air in a high front flip, striking at Dooku as he flew overhead. Dooku blocked the aerial attack and swung his blade in a smooth stroke at the floor as Windu landed. Mace was able to block the blow less than an inch from his leg. The scarlet and violet blades tangled again in fast narrow arcs. Windu was beginning to tire from the pain. Dooku could sense that Mace was weakening.
“You are fighting bravely as always Master Windu. I promise I will give you a warriors death.” Dooku taunted.
“I hate to disappoint you Dooku, but that will not happen.”
“It is inevitable my friend, I am sorry.”
With that Dooku side stepped around Mace, twisting then swinging his saber down, cutting off Maces sword hand. Mace drops to his knees looking up.
Anakin is running down a corridor. He is looking at his tracker as he runs. He is close. Dooku is nearby and at last Anakin will have his revenge. He turns a corner and sees him. Anakin comes to a complete stop. Ahead in the distance he sees Dooku standing behind Master Windu. Mace is on his knees.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Anakin screams and that word echoes throughout the corridor.
Master Windu lowers his eyes and looks in the direction of the scream. He sees Anakin standing in the corridor. It is Mace Windus last vision.
Count Dooku quickly separates Maces head from his body. Windus lifeless body falls forward.
Dooku then turns and quickly heads towards the hangar bay. Anakin chases after Dooku, his blue lightsaber activated. He stops by Master Windus body. Anakin looks at the fallen master then looks into the chamber. From the corridor Anakin can see the destruction that took place within the chamber. He heads into the chamber and his blue blade disappears back into its hilt. What he sees is something Anakin never expected to see. The site brings tears to his eyes as he gazes upon the site of his former master and two other fallen Jedi. He rushes towards Obi Wan and breathes a sigh of relief to learn he is only unconscious. He then checks the other two Jedi. There are no vital signs for Ki Adi Mundi. There is movement not too far away and Anakin realizes it is Master Gallia. He rushes to her side as she tries to move.
“Don’t move. Stay still and rest a moment. You will need your strength. I will check for survivors.”
“There are none.” Master Gallia said remorsefully.
“What happened in here?” asked Anakin.
“When we got here it was already too late for them. Dooku slaughtered them. Master Kenobi lay on the floor where he is now. The rest is a blur.”
“Why would Dooku kill his allies?” Anakin asked.
“That is the question isn’t it?”
Obi Wan began to stir. “What happened?” he asked as he slowly tried to get to his feet. “Oh no.” he said as he looked upon Ki Adi Mundi.
“That’s not all.” Anakin said.
“Master Windu..” Obi Wan stammered as a tear rolled down his cheek. “Where is Dooku now?”
“I believe he is heading towards the main hangar.” answered Anakin.
“Where is Zane?” asked Kenobi.
“He should still be in the control room.”
“Zane, come in this is Obi Wan Kenobi.”
Zane here master. Did you feel a disturbance? Anakin and I felt one and he…”
“Not now Zane. Can you seal the hangar?”
“Possibly. If I haven’t destroyed the controls for it. One small craft has already left the ship. I think it was Dooku.”
“Nevermind then.” Obi Wan said angrily. “Can you reach Tell and have him land in the hangar? We have wounded and we need to get out of here.”
“Yes master, I already contacted him. He should be here in a few moments.”
“Very well then meet us in the main hangar. We’re leaving.”
“What about Dooku?” Anakin asked.
“Lets get down to the hangar first.” Obi Wan replied.
The Jedi both help Adi Gallia to her feet and carry her towards the hangar.
“Please don’t leave me here.” They heard as they were leaving the chamber. “I am TC-14. I can show you a fast way to the main hangar.” said the droid glancing between the three Jedi.
“Then show us the way.” ordered Kenobi.

FEDERATION FLAGSHIP (HANGAR)
As the Jedi entered the hangar the Bards Loot was just setting down. Zane was already in the hangar. He ran to Master Gallia to help hold her up. The landing ramp to the Bards Loot drops down on the deck as Tell exits the ship.
“I saw a sloop exit the hangar. It’s heading towards the surface of Mechis III.” After a moment, Tell asks “Where are the others?” Obi Wan, who is heading towards him replies by simply shaking his head remorsefully.
“We need to abort this mission.” Obi Wan said in a whisper. “Master Gallia needs immediate medical attention and Dooku has escaped us.”
“NO!” said Gallia flatly. “I will not be the reason this mission fails. We have sacrificed much on this mission. I will not tarnish the memory of those that have fallen this day by allowing us to retreat.” Despite her weakened condition Master Gallias voice was strong and determined. “We must destroy that weapon. We may not get another chance.”
“You will not survive long without medical attention. You can not fight in your condition.” argued Obi Wan.
“If I am to fall this day, then I am honored to do so with Masters Windu and Mundi.”
“We only have one transport. I will not allow you to kill yourself out of reckless abandon.”
“If you will allow me, I can direct you to another ship.” TC-14 said. “My former master has a private transport that he uses. It is in a smaller hangar not far from here.”
“Very well then. Zane get Master Gallia aboard the Bards Loot and to the med station. Anakin and I will deal with Dooku on Mechis III. Lead us to that ship.”
Anakin, Obi Wan and TC-14 watch as the Bards Loot rises in the hangar and heads out. Once the Loot is past the MagCon field, they head to the Viceroys personal ship.
DOOKUS SLOOP (COCKPIT)
Count Dookus droid pilot is guiding his sloop towards the weapons foundry on the surface of Mechis III. He is looking at the holographic image of Darth Sidious.
“Your bidding is done Master. You will be pleased to know that Jedi Master Mace Windu has fallen this day. However, I feel the Jedi will now seek us out more aggressively.”
“Soon the Jedi will be of no concern.” answered Sidious. “Now go to Mechis III and arrange for the transport of the weapons system.”
“As you wish Lord.”
The Counts sloop lands in the foundry’s hangar. The boarding ramp slides down and Dooku exits his ship. He heads to the administrative compound on the opposite side of the foundry. The walk is long and Dooku takes the time to reflect upon the days events. The thrill of defeating a worthy opponent and Jedi Master filled his thoughts. The Counts thoughts then wandered to his former mentor and master, Yoda. He thought of what it would feel like to defeat the great Jedi Master Yoda.
Anakin had piloted the “borrowed” ship into Mechis IIIs atmosphere. The weapons foundry could be seen in the forward display.
“This place looks deserted.” said Obi Wan. “Why would he come here?”
“There’s the main hangar.” said Anakin. “Do you want me to land there?”
“No.” answered Obi Wan. “Land on the other side of those buildings. We may be able to catch him by surprise.”
Anakin landed the craft behind a large building. Obi Wan and Anakin exited the craft and began searching for a door. They found a door and quickly cut through it with their lightsabers. The corridor they entered was sparsely lit with red and yellow lights on the walkways. The two Jedi make their way into the main corridor. The corridor branches to the left and right.
“He’s this way.” Anakin yells while taking off towards the left.
“No. Anakin wait.” Obi Wan yells after him. “Doesn’t that boy ever learn?!” he says to himself running after Anakin.
Anakin has a good lead and as he clears the first hallway a half meter thick blast door slams behind him. Obi Wan comes to a stop in front of the blast door, beating his palms against the door. Anakin also stops and looks at the blast door. He hears Obi Wan on the other side banging on the door. Anakin slowly turns back towards the corridor, a dark look on his face. He continues down the path. He walks. Obi Wan stops pounding on the blast door. A great sense of fear has taken hold of him. “Oh no.” Obi Wan turns the other direction and runs.
Dooku is almost to the main admin compound when a realization hits him. He senses no other living beings in the entire foundry. No others except for two Jedi. They are separated, Dooku believes, in a vain attempt to surprise him. Dooku enters a large processing center of the foundry allowing his dark powers to guide him. The processing center is sweltering. This area is used for melting down metals to be put into the molds to cool and harden into droid and weapon parts. There is a large pool where the molten metal is poured. Giant mechanical arms swing above the pool pouring the molten metal from large round containers. There are various platforms directly above the pool. The main control room of the processing center is to Dookus right. There are two sets of steps in front of the control room. One on the left and one on the right. In between the sets of stairs is a lone figure. His stance is wide and his hands are clasped behind his back. He says nothing but keeps a steady gaze as Dooku approaches.
“Not going to come charging at me?” asks Dooku. “I see you have learned some patience.” A snap-hiss sound is made as Dookus scarlet blade springs to life. Anakin says nothing as he activates his own lightsaber. Dooku approaches the steps on his left and swings at Anakins legs. Anakin blocks the blow easily. Their blades remain locked, making scratching sounds, as Dooku climbs up the steps.
Dooku quickly goes for a head strike and again Anakin easily blocks. Dooku begins a flurry of attacks, swinging from side to side. Crossing back and forth. Anakin blocks, parries, and sidesteps each of the Counts attacks.
“You have controlled your fear well.” said Dooku.
“That’s because I don’t fear you.” retorted Anakin.
“Well then, we will need to rectify that!” exclaimed Dooku as he began another attack. Dookus furious attack had pushed Anakin back down the opposite steps and out next to the pool of molten metal. Dooku pressed his attack backing Anakin even more. Anakin took the offensive and was able to get distance between himself and Dooku. Anakin leapt up onto a platform above the pool and backed away from the edge. Dooku leapt onto the same platform and advanced on Anakin again. Blue lightning shot from Dookus fingertips reaching out for Anakin. He absorbed the energy into his lightsaber. While Anakin blocked the lightning attack, Dooku used the Force to swing a chain that was hanging from a rafter at Anakin’s arms. The chain caught him by surprise as it wrapped around his wrists knocking his lightsaber from his grasp. The lightning struck Anakin, knocking him backwards. The Count used the Force to raise Anakin into the air with his wrists bound by the chain.
“Do you fear me now?” asked Dooku
“No…I HATE YOU…” Anakin replied darkly. In Anakin’s eyes brewed a storm of anger and hate as he glared down at Dooku.
“Very well young Jedi…Very well.” boomed a voice that echoed throughout the processing center. “Use your anger. Use your hate. It will make you powerful.” A door to the control room opened. Darth Sidious walked out to the steps looking intently at the young Jedi.
“Master Sidious, I had no idea you were here.” stammered Dooku.
“That is because I masked my presence from you. Lord Tyranus.” Anakin stared at the cloaked man named Sidious. Something seemed familiar about him, but surely this was not the Sith Lord that was rumored to be in control of the Senate. This was an old fragile man. How could he command such respect and fear Anakin thought to himself.
“Indeed you are powerful Skywalker. More than I hoped. You will do nicely indeed. Now use your anger and become the most powerful of all the Jedi. Think of the hate that swells inside you. Let it out.”
Anakins thoughts drifted back in time to being a slave. The Jedi rejecting him when Qui Gon had brought him before them. Qui Gons death. His mothers death at the hands of the Sand People. Losing his arm to Dooku. To most recently, watching Dooku behead Master Windu. All of these thoughts were a flash in Anakins mind. Count Dooku suddenly began to realize what Darth Sidious was planning. He re-activated his lightsaber and took one step towards Anakin. The Count got no closer. Dooku could feel invisible hands stretched across his throat. The more he struggled to reach Anakin. The tighter the grip. Dooku was beginning to fight for a breath of air. Gasping. Black dots begin to fill his vision. He feels himself being lifted into the air. Anakin still staring at him, anger flaming in his eyes.
“Well done Skywalker. Your hate has made you powerful. No use your power to strike him down. Kill him and take your rightful place by me. Together we will make the galaxy tremble.” Darth Sidious laughter echoes throughout the plant.
“NO Anakin…Don’t listen!”
Obi Wan ran into the plant lightsaber ignited.
Anakin released his grip on Dooku. The instant air reached his lungs Dooku felt relief. Until he realized he was still over the pool of molten metal. He tried to yell as he fell into the pool but no sound escaped his throat. Dookus body disintegrated the instant it touched the molten metal.
Obi Wan leapt to the platform where Anakin was still hanging, lightsaber still ignited. As he approaches Anakin, the chains unwind and Anakin lands back on the platform. Obi Wan takes a step back, not expecting Anakin to just drop back onto the platform. Anakin calls his lightsaber to his hand using the Force activating it as it reaches him.
“You’ve always tried to hold me back.” He shouts at Obi Wan. “I’ve always been better than you. You were always jealous. Now You’ll pay.”
“No Anakin calm down…I never tried to hold you back!” exclaimed Kenobi.
Anakin swings his blade in a wide arc as Obi Wan jumps back. Anakin continues swinging his blade at Obi Wan backing him to the ledge of the platform. Obi Wan leaps over Anakin and lands in the large squared section of the platform. Anakin turns and marches towards Obi Wan keeping him trapped on the platform.
“Anakin stop. Don’t give into hate.” pleads Obi Wan. Anakin begins another attack. He thrusts his blade at Obi Wans chest. Obi Wan blocks the attack and blocks the next high attack. Both blue blades remained locked as the two Jedi try go gain leverage. They circle one another while the blades remain locked. Anakin still seething with anger is able to break the lock and quickly gets a glancing blow to land on Obi Wans shoulder. Obi Wan stumbles backwards and blocks another strong blow that Anakin aims at his head. Obi Wan takes the offensive after the sabers lock again. He pushes Anakins blade aside, ducks low and spins behind Anakin. Obi Wan then reverses his blade under his arm and thrusts it backwards, striking Anakins torso. Obi Wan continued his spin to face Anakin. Using the Force, he pushed Anakin backwards. Anakins lightsaber flew from his hand and deactivated as it fell onto the platform floor. Anakins momentum slammed him into the hand rail and knocked him over it. Anakins mechanical arm barely managed to grab onto the platform floor.
“Anakin!” shouted Obi Wan as he raced to where Anakin held on. Obi Wan grabbed Anakins metal arm trying to pull him up.
“I’m sorry master. I didn’t mean it.” Anakin said with tears in his eyes.
“Don’t worry about that now. We need to get you back up here.”
“Please don’t let me fall master, please…” begged Anakin.
“Give me your other hand. This ones slipping. I need your other hand Anakin!”
Anakin was covering his wound with his other hand. And try as he might, every time he tried to reach towards Obi Wan. The pain became worse. Obi Wans grip continued to slip. The intense heat and sweat on Obi Wans hands made impossible for him to keep hold of Anakin. Still, he held onto him for as long as he could until the fatigue and pain. Anakin made on last attempt in vain to reach for Obi Wan as his metal hand slipped through Kenobis grasp. Obi Wan looked over the edge in horror as Anakin seemed to fall in slow motion. Obi Wan wasn’t sure but he thought Anakin silently said…”You have failed me for the last time.”

Obi Wan knelt over the edge of the platform for what seemed like an eternity, his head buried in his hands, when he suddenly remembered that there was someone else in the plant when he cam in. He snapped his head up franticly searching out the unknown figure that was by the control room. He reached out with the Force and sensed no other presence. Obi Wan got to his feet and headed towards the end of the platform when something caught his eye. Anakins lightsaber lay in a corner. Obi Wan used the Force to call it to him. The lightsaber flew into his outstretched hand. Obi Wan jumped off the platform and exited the processing plant and headed for the ship.
Shortly after Obi Wan exits the plant, a small alter rises from the molten pool. Anakins body is on top of it. His body floats into the air and glides across the pool. A trap door opens next to the pool and a long pod rises from the floor. The pod opens like a clamshell as Anakins body approaches. As his body lands in the pod, Darth Sidious walks up to the side of the pod and gazes at Anakins body. His metallic arm is gone, along with every hair on his head. His body is mangled and scorched. Darth Sidious uses his powers to place a breathing device in Anakins mouth. The lid closes and a thick clear liquid fills the pod. Anakin does not move as this happens. His breathing is short and shallow. The liquid completely fills the pod as it and Darth Sidious sink back under the floor.
Obi Wan is piloting the Viceroys transport back to Coruscant. He opens a communication channel to the Jedi Temple. Master Yodas voice fills the cockpit. “Heard from Master Gallia I have…terrible news.”
“Master…Anakin…is gone. I tried to save him but I couldn’t.”
“No…Skywalker lives. Darkness surrounds his light, but still he lives.”
“He killed Dooku in a way I have never seen. I fear he has finally stepped onto the dark path.”
“Patience Obi Wan. Bring him to the light again, you might. Travel safely. May the Force be with you.”
“Yes master. See you soon.”
CORUSCANT – JEDI TEMPLE LANDING PLATFORM
Obi Wan lands the transport and emerges. Master Yoda is waiting for him as he enters the temple. They silently stroll through the corridors until Obi Wan asks “How is Master Gallia?”
“Survive she will. More damaged her spirit is than her body.” replied Yoda.
“Are you sure about Anakin master? I saw him fall into that pool of heated metal. There is no way he could have survived.”
“Sure I am. The power of the Dark Side has gripped him. Great sadness this is.” Yoda says shaking his head. “Good news he would have come home to.”
“What do you mean Master. What good news?” asked Obi Wan.
“Learned many things this day have I. Married your former apprentice was.”
“To Padme…You’ve got to be joking Master!” said a stunned Obi Wan.
“A father Skywalker was to be. Better I think if you go to see her. The truth you must tell her.”
Obi Wan stood dumbfounded by the news he just heard. Not only have the Jedi suffered great loss this day, Master Yoda has instructed Obi Wan to visit Padme to deliver the news that Anakin had fought him and fell into a pool of molten metal. This was a day Obi Wan could not wait to get behind him.
SENATE LIVING QUARTERS
Obi Wan pressed the door chime and stepped back folding his arms behind his back. The door slid open and Bail greeted Obi Wan with a robust handshake.
“General Kenobi, how are you? I hope your latest campaign has gone well.”
Obi Wan let a remorseful look crawl across his face.
“I think we may have brought an end to this war but at a very high price. I need to speak with Padme, alone Senator.”
Bail seemed to grasp the gravity of the situation and stepped aside to allow Obi Wan to enter.
“Of course, I’ll go for a stroll.” He shook Obi Wans hand again but with much less vigor. Obi Wan walked into the living room and Padme smiled when she saw him. She put down a book she was reading and got up to greet him properly. “Obi Wan, I thought I heard you in the hall.” Padme froze when she looked into Obi Wans eyes, her smile quickly vanishing.
“What’s wrong? What happened to Anakin?”
Obi Wan layed out the details of what happened, or at least the details that Master Yoda deemed she could know about. Obi Wan had tears in his eyes as he told Padme about losing Masters Windu and Mundi on the Federation ship. He explained everything else up to the point of when he left the Mechis III system.
“Are you sure that Anakin is still alive?” asked Padme.
“Master Yoda appears to think so, but he is being consumed by the Dark Side. If Master Yoda is right, then we are all in great danger. None of us will be safe if he becomes an agent of evil.”
What am I supposed to do Obi Wan? I was planning on retiring from the Senate because I don’t think I can deal with the high level of stress involved, especially in my state now.”
“Master Yoda thinks it might be best to get you underground. If you disappear you may be safe.
“You want me to run Obi Wan, like a coward. I won’t do that. I can’t.” Padme said with tears in her eyes.
“It’s not just for your own good. You have a child to think about now. To protect. The Jedi will find a way to help you and keep you safe. I will contact you soon, once we have more details.”
With that Obi Wan turned to leave. Padme grabbed his arm and pulled him into a strong hug. Padme cried as she never had before. Obi Wan teared up again while embracing her when a felt a strange sensation. He stepped back from Padme and looked her up and down for a brief moment when he finally said “Twins. You’re going to have twins!”
CORUSCANT (JEDI TEMPLE) ONE YEAR LATER
Masters Yoda and Obi Wan Kenobi are discussing the current affairs of the Jedi. Times are not well for the order despite the end of the Clone War. The general public is becoming more suspicious of the Jedi as many rumors are spread about the Jedi being the instigators of the Clone War. Other rumors include genocide and brutality during the war as well as cold blooded murder. Many groups have formed to protest the Jedis protected status under the government. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine has been able to maintain order by sending a commission to investigate the rumors. Still the Jedi remain calm and go about their business unhampered by these events. A wise and forward thinking Jedi Master named Jorus C’Boath had approached Master Yoda proposing that a small group of Jedi be permitted to take their own transport into the Unknown Regions. Master C’Boath’s mission was to be an ambassador of the Jedi and their way of life. If a friendly sector could be found and the Jedi were ever forced into exile, they would have a place to go. The mission was called the Outbound Flight Project. Master Yoda wanted to keep this project as quiet as possible. Only Masters Yoda, Kenobi, C’Boath and the others going on the mission knew of it.
“Any word from Master C’Boath?” asked Obi Wan curiously.
“No. Take time their mission will…Dangerous it will be.” answered Yoda.
“Any word yet from the Supreme Chancellor on the Senates investigation? I thought that surely it would not take long.”
“A quick resolution the people want. Angry they are. The Dark Side I feel behind this. Difficult the outcome is to see.” Yoda said sadly. “Arranged for the children have you?”
“Yes master. The Bear clan and their instructors left two days ago. Hopefully we will be able to recall them soon.” Obi Wan said optimistically.
“And the others?” Yoda asked staring intently at Obi Wan.
“Arrangements have been made for them as well master.”
“Well you have done Master Obi Wan.” Yoda closed his eyes and begins to meditate as Obi Wan leaves Yodas quarters.
Obi Wan returns to Yodas quarters. He is alarmed. “I sense it also. For us…time to leave it is.” Master Yoda says looking up at Obi Wan. “Activated the security protocols I have.”
The Temple has gone into lock down mode. Blast doors at all major entryways close and a distress siren howls throughout the temple. All Jedi remaining in the temple prepare to evacuate. Legions of clone troopers lay siege to the temple and have already broken through the lower levels. Hover patrols have commanded the airspace around the temple and look for signs of evacuating craft.
“Master, I will help you to the unknown tunnels. They have hovercraft surrounding the temple and troopers have already started to invade us.”
Obi Wan leads Yoda out of his quarters and to the tunnel system built deep into the Temple. Master Yoda is in his hoverseat behind Obi Wan. They cross into the Great Hall where other Jedi have gathered to defend the temple or evacuate. Yoda continues on towards the tunnels. The blast door that leads out to the main corridor is being banged on. Sparks slide across the top and down the sides making a large rectangular shape. All Jedi present ignite their lightsabers as a deafening explosion blows pieces of the blast door into the Great Hall. Clone troopers file into the hall taking defensive positions to the left and right sides of the blast door. Through the white smoke a tall figure emerges through the center. His uniform is all black except for a small lighted square shaped device on his chest. He wears a high gloss armored helmet with shoulder covers. A long black cape that almost touches the floor. His breathing is amplified through the black angled mask that covers his face. He stares at the Jedi in the hall with their ignited sabers. In a deep raspy voice, pointing in the direction of the Jedi he says “If they resist, kill them. Leave General Kenobi to me.” In his black gloved hand he holds a lightsaber of his own. He steps in Obi Wans direction.
Obi Wan runs with great speed down a corridor leading towards the archives. The masked figure walks after him. A young Jedi steps into his path and raises blade. He is easily swept aside as the tall figure uses the Force to push him aside. The clone troopers begin firing at the Jedi, wave after wave emerge through the blast door.
Obi Wan is approaching a tunnel entrance. He comes to a complete stop as he rounds a corner. Standing in front of him is the dark stranger, his red blade hisses to life.
“You forget that I know this temple as well as you.” the stranger says.
“Who are you?!?”
“Have you already forgotten your padawan learner?”
Obi Wan stares at the stranger. He looks him up and down.
“Anakin…is that you?
“That name no longer has any meaning to me.”
“What’s going on here? Why are we being attacked by the Republic Army? Why are you leading them?”
“When this day is over, I will be the last of the Jedi. You failed me Obi Wan and now all Jedi will suffer. My new master has shown me the power of the Dark Side. Now you will know it too.” He raises his red blade and steps towards Obi Wan. Obi Wans lightsaber snaps to life and blocks the blow. He swings his blade again in a counter clockwise arc and again Obi Wan parries the blow. The blades lock and Obi Wan is pushed backwards.
“Your thoughts betray you Anakin…I sense the conflict within you.”
“There is no conflict. You and all the other Jedi will die.”
“Let go of your hate Anakin. You don’t have to do this.”
“I told you that name no longer has any meaning for me. You are no longer my master.” He swings his red blade in quick short arcs in front of Obi Wan.
“Qui Gon believed in you Anakin. He would have ignored the council’s decision to train you. This is how you honor him?!? What would your mother say to you?”
His red blade vanishes as he stares at Obi Wan, his thoughts hidden behind the black mask. He stands for what seems like days, his heavy breaths amplified through his helmet. Finally…”Go…I owe that to Qui Gon Jinn. The next time we meet. You will die.”
Obi Wan turns and enters a hidden access panel as a squad of troopers approach. “Lord Vader, all of the Jedi in the temple have been neutralized.”
“Well done.” Vader replies, still staring at the access panel Obi Wan used to escape. Vader turns and briskly walks back down the corridor, his black cape swaying just above the ground as he walks. The troopers split formation opening the center of the corridor to him as he passes.
CORUSCANT SENATE (NEXT DAY)
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is about to address the Senate. Palpatine rises from his seat and walks forward to address all Senators present. This address carries such weight that it will be broadcast to all systems within the Republic.
“Fellow citizens of the Republic, it is with great sadness that I deliver this news. I have gone over the reports and verified all of the evidence. It appears that for quite some time the citizens of the Republic have been blinded by the Jedi Order.” The Supreme Chancellor pauses while his words sink in. “The evidence shows that approximately fifteen years ago a Jedi Master named Sifo Diyas went to the planet Kamino and, on behalf of the Jedi council, placed an order for one million clone soldiers.” There were various gasps, moans and reactions to this statement. “Further evidence supports Jedi Master Yoda commandeered a legion of troops from Kamino and attacked the Separatists on Geonosis. The Jedi struck the first blow of war.” Many reactions from all over the Republic are expressed. “Jedi must go” is chanted throughout the Senate. There is only a small group of senators that find this hard to believe, Bail Organa among them. “Even before I took this post as Supreme Chancellor, I have always supported the Jedi. I always believed in their values, but now it appears that that was not the true nature of their religion. I have immediately revoked all of their political ties to the Republic. I have seized their temple. All Jedi are ordered to surrender to nearest Republic law enforcement. If any Jedi chooses not to surrender, I authorize rewards to be paid on all Jedi bounties.” The Senate claps and cheers Palpatines words. “I will not allow one Jedi to escape justice my fellow citizens…They will face my justice.” The Senate finally erupts in applause as Palpatine receives a standing ovation. Little do these senators realize that they, along with all citizens of the Republic are witnessing the birth of an Empire.…

Is this the story that is at the Clone Wars site?
If so I do plan to read it and I will get back to you.

Yes...it's the same story. OB Gates was kind enough to post it there for me. Let me know what you think. Also, the first version I wrote is further back. This is a revised copy. If I get feedback on making it better I will add to it. I think I could make this a novel if I really wanted to, but I basically just wanted to know if I had any talent for this sort of thing.
Again thanks for taking the time to read this.
