Excuse the stupid question, but what is Padmé's real name? *Is it Padmé Amidala or Padmé Naberrie*or Padmé Naberrie Amidala? *She was born Padmé Naberrie, but is Amidala a royal title or something? * ???

I think Padmé Naberrie is the name she was born with, and Queen Amidala was her formal title. *I'm not sure what it is now, as a senator... I think it's Padmé Amidala, but I'm not sure why. *I looked for it here: http://www.starwars.com/databank/character...dala/index.html (http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/amidala/index.html)

but amidiala is involved in her overall name!?????

That's what I think too (I looked there also), but what happend to the name Naberrie? Did she just drop it all together for the more regal sounding Amidala? Oh well, maybe I should give GL a call later this evening to find out for sure. :)

Her birth name was Padme Naberrie and her title as queen was Amidala. *Truthfully, her name in AOTC should have been Senator Naberrie, for after her term as queen she should have dropped the Amidala title as well. *But my opinion is that Lucas didn't think his audience would remember any of that and so kept the name Amidala so the audience would make the connection between the 2 films.

Mabe "Naberrie" was just a name that was made up for her to use when she was pretending to be a handmaiden.

Tovor is right,
Padmé Naberrie is her birth-name. When she was elected Queen of Naboo, she took on the more formal, regal , name of Amidala. When her two terms as Queen ended, she was also to give up her formal name, Amidala. But, as a "gift", so to speak, by her actions taken to protect her world, she was able to keep the title. And she was also given the privilage to continue traveling by the chrome-plated Royal-Cruisers of Naboo, which are really supposed to be reserved for the Monarch of Naboo. All of these were privilages, given to her for her major success when she was Queen of Naboo.
So she therefore, went by her more formal name, Senator Amidala, when she was selected as Senator, by Queen Jamillia of Naboo.
PS: I do not even think "Jamillia" is Queen Jamillia's birth-name either. I think every monarch of Naboo chooses a more formal name to go by while they rule, but then give it up when their term(s) is up.

no, nabbiere is her real name, but she kept amidiala as a royal/ important person name, maybe she didnt like using her real name, incase enemies found her under that name when she wished to hide!

Justin,
Who are you asking? If your asking me, I got my information from the official AoTC novelization and other official sources before and after the AoTC release. It was even on StarWars.com until they started to change the info on Padmé after Ep.II came out.
PS: How do you guys get the little dash above the "E" when you need to type it into names? I know I have it on my post, but that only because I paste it from other people's post. Could someone please tell me how.

In the Essential Guide to Characters, it's stated that Naberrie is her real name and Amidala is her "name of state". *They don't give any info why the name change took place other than it seems to be a customary thing to do. * ??? *Perhaps it was in protection of her family. *I doubt her real name would be public info. * style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif

Yeah, it IS quite possible that she dropped the name to protect her family. Didn't think of that.

I just copied the accented "e" from MS Word to the message box here. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Hey, it's funny how you mentioned MS Word.
* When using MS Word, I couldn't put in the accented "e" either, but then I went into the "AutoText"; "AutoCorrect" file, and found a word with the accented "e", then deleted everything but the "e" in the "with" section, then put this; [e'] in the "replace" section. And there you have it. Everytime you put [e'] in a sentence on MS Word, it will automatically correct itself to be this; é. I used the ( ) instead of the [ ] at first like the copyright and trade-mark signs, but then I figured to change it to minimize my use of the "sift" key, which always slowed me down when accenting my "e's". But the down side to this is, you can't do the same thing here to get the "é", that you do on MS Word.
Maybe I should talk to the mods about helping us out there, so we don't have to keep copying and pasting it.
PS: Then, I went to it again and put Padme in the "replace" section, and put Padmé, with the accented "e" in the "with" section. So, everytime I type Padme, it always comes out with the accented "e" already in it. I don't know why I would want to write Padmé in the first place. Just for the heck of it I guess.
And then I did the same thing with Sabé too. Again, just for the heck of it.

Well, I just went to insert -> symbol -> Times New Roman (for the font)-> clicked on the accented "e" symbol -> clicked insert
From there, I copied and pasted it to the message board text. That should speed things up a bit.
BTW, I usually type longer messages in a word processing program just for spell check.
P.S. I still have to give GL a call about Padmé's name.

Here is something on her Regal Title that I have always found to be very interesting.
* The title "You Highness" is usually only used in refrence to a highly ranking prince/princess or the heir to the throne.
* I have a feeling that since Padmé was called by that title, that she, at that time, didn't have complete sovereing powers because of her age. Maybe the powers not granted to her were temporarily held within her Royal Council in Theed ntil she became of age. But they were soon granted to her after her success in freeing her planet. But didn't you realize that Palpatine always called her "Your Majesty"? Was he using his DarkSide powers to fore-see the future? Because that was not her title at that time, it was "Her Highness".

It's Padmé Naberrie Amidala. Heard that from Steve Sansweet's own mouth. He is the director of Fan Relations for Lucasfilms and the name was confirmed by Pablo Hidalgo, also from Lucasfilms (who also happens to run the sw.com forums).
Remember their marriage is a secret, so there will never be "Skywalker" at the end of her name.
And you guys are making the é way too complicated. If you are on a PC just hold down the ALT button and type 130 on the numbers pad on the right side of the keyboard.
Type 144 for a capital É.

"é" as in [ALT=130]

Her birth name is Padmé Neberrie.
It is now Padmé Neberrie Amidala, since her "Name of State", Amidala, was granted to her as a privilage. She was supposed to give it up after her terms as Queen of Naboo had ended. But, she was given the right to keep it. Therefore, it is now an official part of her real name.

I got it from partly from the novelization of Ep. II and it was even on the official SW web-site until they changed the information on Padmé after Ep. II was released.
Just to let you know.

It was on there before they changed it. I can't remember when though, because they have changed it so many times.
And there were things in the book that pointed it out. Along with her ability to continue traveling on the chrome-plated royal star-ships originaly reserved only for the actual ruling monarch of Naboo.

I think her real name is Padmé Naberrie but she took the title Amidala when she became queen. After that, because she'd stopped the Trade Federation on Naboo, she was allowed to keep the title I suppose..
Maybe Queen Jamillia's real name is n't Jamillia... ???
