This game looks really good. You play as Jango Fett, the infamous Boba Fett's father. The game explains Jango's purpose in the Star Wars universe and, more importantly, his involvement in the Clone Wars. The game is set to release fall 2002 for PlayStation2 and GameCube.

Hate to tell ya this, but unless the game spans a LOT of years and rewrites some history, it won't take place during the Clone Wars.

It takes place a few years earlier, during Jango's mission against the Bando Gora and Montross that we learn a little bit about in The New Essential Guide to Characters. That's all taken care of by the time of AOTC.

It'll still be a cool game though. I, for one, am dying to see what happens to the Jaster's Legacy that leads him to get Slave I.

BL-17
05-15-2002, 02:26 PM
Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I knew it had something to do with the Clone Wars, but not taking place exactly at that time. It would make more sense to have it playing the events leading up to the Clone Wars.

You're quite welcome for the clarification.

I have details drawn from what little we know about the game on the Star Wars Timeline Gold (see signature). There's a lot that can be gleaned from the NEGtC, Jango Fett: Open Seasons and so forth.

IS anyone else bothered by the fact that you are playing a guy who got aced in like 20 seconds in a fight with a Jedi?

IS anyone else bothered by the fact that you are playing a guy who got aced in like 20 seconds in a fight with a Jedi?

Heh, I'm not going to debate over that one any more.

It looks like a really great game, though. I recently visited the official website (http://www.lucasarts.com/products/starwarsbountyhunter/default.htm) and viewed most of the screenshots. The graphics look great, the environments look spectacular, the weapons don't look bad either. I'm definitely going to buy this game when it comes out.

When is this due out? I've had my cube for awhile and all it does is collect dust. I'd like to see it get some use every once and awhile, so I'm hoping to start with this game.

What about the fact that Boba had so little screen time in the OT and died embarrassingly in ROTJ? That hasn't affected the character's popularity in any way, so I don't see why anyone should have a problem with Jango.

Saranac
07-22-2002, 10:47 PM
First we dont know for sure Boba Fett was killed in ROTJ.

I have read books about him that take place after ROTJ and they all say he survived.

Second does any know if Star Wars:Bounty Hunter is coming out for the computer.

Darth Darthy
07-23-2002, 12:16 AM
No Bounty Hunter for the PC. And as far as I'm concerned (yeah I've read alot of EU) Boba Fett is dead. Get over it.

Luthien
07-23-2002, 01:55 PM
No Bounty Hunter game for PC? *WAAAAAH* I've wanted a game like that since before the Special Edition of the original trilogy came out...

Saranac

First Luthien: you stole your Quote from JRR Tolkien.

Second: we never cry in this forum.

Third: WE DON'T KNOW FOR SURE BOBA FETT IS DEAD!

Third: WE DON'T KNOW FOR SURE BOBA FETT IS DEAD!

Yes. Yes we do.

Saranac

LOL unless you have spoken to GL then don't assume he is dead.

Darth Darthy
07-25-2002, 12:19 AM
Me and George have an understanding. I tell him what to write and he takes all the credit. Boba's dead. ;)

Saranac
07-25-2002, 09:14 PM
So for say since your the real creator of Star Wars why not make 3 sequels.

BOBA FETT LIVES

Darth Darthy
07-25-2002, 09:19 PM
Me and George decided it would be amusing to annoy SW fans by not only killing Fett in a demeaning way but by not making a sequel. Or something. Maybe.

Saranac
07-25-2002, 09:39 PM
Your avator is Palpatine he fell over a rail and died. How is that not demeaning.

Darth Darthy
07-25-2002, 09:55 PM
Palpy was thrown over by Mr Vader. Fett got hit by a blind guy with a stick into the Sarlacc. I win.

Saranac
07-25-2002, 10:10 PM
Han Solo had his sight back by then and he tripped into the Sarlaac, later he escaped.

So maybe your right cause he TRIPPED into the Sarlaac.

Darth Darthy
07-25-2002, 10:14 PM
Me and George didn't write it that way. I win. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Saranac
07-25-2002, 10:41 PM
uhhhh...........I have a new updated ROTJ script it says he tripped.

yea...........

Darth Darthy
07-25-2002, 11:20 PM
I have a movie called Return of the Jedi and a BLIND Han Solo clearly knocks Boba Fart into the Sarlacc and at no point whatso ever does Fart climb out. I win. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Count Dooku, you'll also be able to play Knights Of the Old Republic with that 'box of yours, I envy you :unhappy:

Saranac
08-04-2002, 09:15 PM
You must have a different movie cause I have never heard of Boba Fart.

In the original "Return of the Jedi" he clearly trips.

Darth Darthy
08-04-2002, 09:21 PM
A war indeed.

Boba Fart does not trip, ever. Never. At least not in any Star Wars. He does get knocked in the Jet pack by Hans big stick. We all saw it, c'mon, you'll be okay once you accept his death. The first step is admitting it....
C'mon, we're all friends here, let's here you say it.... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif

Saranac
08-04-2002, 09:35 PM
Are you asking me to surrender NEVER

Han Solo did hit him with the stick after he tripped.

If you look very closely before Solo hits him, Boba Fett starts to lose his balance.

Darth Darthy
08-04-2002, 09:43 PM
If you look very closely before Solo hits him, Boba Fett starts to lose his balance.

Hmm, never noticed that but let's just say for arguments sake that Boba Fart did trip:

1 - What a crap bounty hunter, he's fighting a Jedi, a Wookie and Han and trips! In a public place!,

2 - Regardless of whether he trips, he still dead.

I win. Again. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Admit defeat for yea shall not triumph against the will of the Darkside, Moo hooo haaaaa haaaaaaawwwww"! *Cough spluter*

Saranac
08-04-2002, 11:00 PM
As you can tell Boba Fett is quite busy.

He was fighting three guys and he is not perfect, even though he is the best Bounty Hunter in the galaxy.

Apparently I am looking at a videotape of you tripping in a public place. HMM....

Darth Darthy
08-04-2002, 11:14 PM
I didn't trip, I was THROWN! By a big guy in a suit. Who was meant to be my mate. Actually... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Trip indeed.

And Boba is still deader than Elvis.

Saranac
08-06-2002, 08:00 PM
See thats where you got it right.

We all know that Elvis never died it was a government conspiracy.

So in the end you just admited that Boba Fett is still alive.

Darth Darthy
08-06-2002, 08:22 PM
Ha ha! Government conspiracy indeed... Why the hell would anybody want to pretend that Elvis is dead? He died on the sh :censored: er while squeezing the cheese. As did Boba, he was probably pushing a sloppy joe out too at the time of his death... :look:

Saranac
08-06-2002, 08:35 PM
LOL........oh my.........LOL

Elvis had the Mob after him and he was a secret agent for the U.S.A.

Thats where the idea for James Bond came.

Darth Darthy
08-06-2002, 09:03 PM

Boba Fett Lives.

Darth Darthy
08-07-2002, 08:32 PM
Your saying this just to save face now. You know, deep down. He died in the same way that we all do at some point.
He just happend to die as a complete and utter fool. Killed by a blind man indeed.... How embarassing...

Saranac
08-07-2002, 08:38 PM
How could he be an utter fool?

He was the greatest Bounty Hunter ever.

Darth Darthy
08-07-2002, 09:11 PM
Boba Fett had no character. To say he did is wishfull thinking. He had 2 lines.
He had a cool mask and suit. Other than that, he was a buffoon of the highest order.

Saranac
08-07-2002, 09:39 PM
HMMM.......

Palpatine didn't have very many lines either. All he did was hide in the shadows.

Anyways this topic has turned into a little chatroom between us. I don't know why nobody else has posted anything.

Palpatine is stupid

Boba Fett rules

Darth Darthy
08-07-2002, 09:44 PM

Hey gang,
IF some of you haven't cheated and obtained the codes from the internet yet,.....once you enter the code for the last chapter of the game, there are pieces of a "movie" throughout the game. I won't mention any spoilers, but the dark jedi shown in the game was the original design of the Sith Lord intended for "AOTC" before Christopher Lee was hired.

Jors_Dedon
12-20-2002, 11:54 PM
It is sooooooo boring. I beat it in like a few days, and it's too boring to play anymore. The bonus features are retarded, they need extra playable characters, or stuff like invinsibility to win. Not freaking Star Wars cards, or outtakes. Or maybe bonus levels or something...

What movie are you talking about Mike? I've looked for codes, but haven't found much.

BL-17
01-01-2003, 04:23 PM
I actually really like the game. It's only sort of dull if you don't go after the sceondary bounties. Even then, the game is still exciting because it gets more challenging as you progress.

I'm currently on the level called "Sebolto's Compound," which is in Chapter 4: "A Tense Partnership". I have completed 10 of the 18 levels and have found 9 of the 18 secrets. I currently have 233, 500 credits in my account, and my notoriety ranking is "GALACTIC MENACE".

I've been playing for about 5 hours now according to the in-game clock. At times it was hard to find a lot of the secondary bounties, but it was really fun.

What problems are you having with the gunship, X-3P0?

BL-17
01-01-2003, 11:08 PM
2 out of 10?! Jeez, they must've hated it! Most gaming magazines here gave it something in the 8 or 9 range.

Jors_Dedon
01-04-2003, 12:06 AM
2/10... this coming from a nation who has EXTREMELY little knowledge in video games. I mean, come on, name ONE good console invented in the UK. I can't even think of ANY console invented in that freakin country. UK stinks if you ask me... kinda natural for people who eats ox-tails and sheep liver for breakfast. They do have some pretty hot females though. The average for it out here is 8/10.

Anyway, back to the game. Don't get me wrong, the game is entertaining... until you beat it. There is absolutely no replay value in it. My advice for the crooked senator level is... RUN LIKE HECK! You have to be able to strafe pretty well to be able to dodge bullets matrix style. You also have to be a button masher to be a good with his Westar's. Tme yourself... if you can mash that fire button a good 5 times every second you are right up there with the rest of us elites. Are you talking about after you knock out the cannons and the ship just flies around? Cause after that, you take a grenade launcher and aim a bit higher than auto-aim. That should allow the grenade to hit the opposite side. Do that a few times and the ship will fall to it's unknown doom. Hey Saranac, we never actually see the gunship explode do we? Maybe Bounty2 will be called "Revenge of the Gunship." (j/k)

That's another great thing about Bounty Hunter - it uses the lock-on target system much like that of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. Also, sadly, as Jors pointed out, there's most likely little replay value, if any.

Hey, Jors, what are your end game stats? Just curious.

Jors_Dedon
01-07-2003, 12:15 AM
I haven't played the game in a while. My stats are low cause I usually take no one alive. hee hee. The thing I hated most, is that you can't use the targeting computer when your fighting. You have to switch. And while you're chillin with the scope, people just walk up and nail you. I think the name of my stat were like 80-90 something killed, 30-40 captured. Something like that. I can't remember what I was labeled. Oh, yeah... I killed alot of civilians for fun, so that lowered my score. Coruscant is fun to mow down all the civilians...

I think it has some replay value. Right now I am playing with no hints etc. It's hard to find all the bounties and time consuming. But I plan on going back and attempting to get them all. Plus I just really like the game, it is very good looking, and fun to blast people with all of Jango's gear. But perhaps that's just me.

I played the game today. Digging up some of those 2nd bounties. I was labeled "BOLD ASSASSIN." I hate "The Death Stick Factory." That and Tusken Canyon. Those two are harder than the end levels. The Final Confrontation is waaaaaaay too easy as well.

Is it a game worth buying or should i find some one to burn from??

Not impressed in the slightest with this game. A very basic shooter with nothing new to offer other than a jetpack that you can burst a jump when you need it. The control system is very awkward if you plan to catch bounties, you should be able to get to the identifier easier without disarming yourself...

I rented it and I'm glad I did... It was okay, but it'd been a waste of $40-$50 to purchase. The graphics are fair, the gameplay is subpar, and the story is so-so.

I've seen better.

kopernikuz, we've all seen better. I don't think we've seen a better Star Wars game, though.

Burn it, space man, burn it!!!!

By the way, I've been thinking about getting a mod chip. Do you have a PS2? If so, what kind of chip do you have? Where'd you get it?

I like it but i can't get past the level after roz dies and those bando gora freaks keep coming i think that bounty hunter is a little cheap some times it took me a while to beat the tusken canyon because i couldn't see the snipers plus i didn't know how to save zam withe sniper until i did it by mistake it's VERY unclear sometimes.

Are you talking about the first level of the last chapter? If you're having trouble with the Bando Gora from the start. Go fly onto that little crate/thing by the Slave I. The Gora can't get up their. Just chill and wait until there's huge crowd around you screaming and asking for your autograph (just kidding about the autograph part). Whip out your trusty rusty flamethrower and torch the crowd. Wait a bit and then do it again. This will take a while but it's worth it. Another way is the grab on the ledge (don't climb up) and just shoot them with your Westars as they gather under you.

01-11-2003, 04:37 PM
Thanks but where do i go is that the whole level.
OH yeah a peev i have about this game is that the are too many levels that are too dark and i die from that i often find myself uses jango scope to shed some light on the place.

Jors_Dedon
01-11-2003, 11:20 PM
Okay... after you kill those mindless freaks, there should be a switch on the side of the Slave I (the side facing the ledge.) Press triangle. That will open up a door on the other side of that stage. Go through the door and the down the hallway. You should be in another room pretty much exactly like the one you started in. Kill the Gora. (I don't think this stage has the crate thing, hang on the ledge) Okay, find the switch, activate it, and go through the other door. Walk down that hallway. You will find yourself on a dark, misty stage (more dark level goodness! Turn the brightness up on your TV.) Okay, I'll end the help from there. Try it, then if you need help, I'll add some more.

Just bought a Gamecube over the weekend, and Bounty Hunter was among the first games I bought along with it. I'm not a hard-core gamer, so it took me a while to get through the first level, but I really enjoyed it. Great graphics, cool music, interesting story so far, and just plain old fun.

BH was a superb game. I have yet to buy a
GameCube (which I'll be doing September 19th style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif )
But when I do, my goal is to buy Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee,
and after that Star Wars: The Clone Wars. And then most likely
Bounty Hunter.

The graphics in BH were outstanding, the fighting, levels,
enemies, characters were amazing, not to mention how cool it was
that Temuerra Morrison and Leanna Walsman came back
to play the roles of Jango Fett and Zam Wessel.
The music was incredible (Jeremy Soule is awesome!).
I give this game 100%.

Did you make it past level, um, two yet?

I bought this for less then a fiver in GAME because thats all it's worth. For a GC game it has god awful graphics (whats with the fog and crap textures?!?), pants level design and jerky controls.

Haven't bothered to play it since I bought it but then again I also got Rebel Strike at the same time - gimme an OT speeder bike level thats almost brilliant instead of this.

The best thing about this game is the un-lockable comic book. Shame on LucasArts!

Uh, no I haven't. I haven't even played it since about the date of my original complaint. Madden 2004 is to blame for that. Anyway, I ordered a cheat book today. As soon as it comes in, I'll hop back on the saddle.
What can tell me about level two, anyway? I'm pretty sure that I'm near the end. The guy I'm attempting to capture just flew away from me in some sort of cruiser and I shot/captuerd just about everyone that I could. Now I simply cannot find a way to move on. It feels as though there is a passageway or something that I just can't locate.

I did get that cheat book, and did get past what i consider to be level 2, but what is actually called 'Merchant Row'. Now I am in the 'Docking Bays' level, and right at the end. Now I have to shoot down Meeko's starship to complete the entire level. The thing is, once I attempted to do this, I was cut down by the ship's balsters not once , not twice, but 5 times in a combined time of about 1 and a half minutes and had to quit for the night. Man, I could not handle the ship's blasters.

Ya know I have a GC and I love Star Wars games, but I've never played Bounty Hunter before because of all the terrible things I've heard about it.

I come across it all the time in stores for like only 10 or 12 bucks. Is this thing worth buying or is it really that bad?

I consider BH a game wich had a really great potential, but unfortunately it seem to have been rushed in order to make more SW games instead of good SW games *sigh*
I do not regret that I bought it, but it is not nearly the good game it could have been...

Level 2 is the second hardest level in the game I recommend looking up a lot to find spots to float too. I put the game down after level two seemed unbeatable, but after you figure it out it's pretty much smooth sailing from there.

Nobody (except for myself and a few other loyal gamers) liked the game because they said it lacked "stealth", which seems to be all the rage now with Tom Clancy's continuous game releases and HALO.
Only the "loyal" gamers like this game. It is everything you would think to see Jango doing in an adventure.
Take out a group of thugs while pounding the blaster button, or simply pull out your flame thrower, risk some damage by blaster fire, and than fry the lot in one hit (if your close enough)<< Helpful Hint: Flame-Thrower is recommended for the Bando Gora.
This game is all I expected it to be, and even more, it would have to be if I play it every weekend (I think I have played through it at least twelve times since I got it, it just doesn't get boring to me). In my opinion, Lucasarts "went through the roof" with this game.

I think it's has alot more to do with it overall just not being a very good game. Although it would make sense for there to be some stealth aspect to the game since Fett is supposed to be a BOUNTY HUNTER and a hunter never wants to alert their prey, but he was practically wearing a sign in this game.

It was worth the rental, it was fun while it lasted, it certainly wasn't a very good game by any means though, it was your typical button pusher, and not much more than that.

Oh yeah, and they also made a huge error by trying to make Fett out to be a hero. Very bad idea.

i've beat Halo about 30 times, and there was no stealth involved. tom clancy, i can definitely see what you're saying. i've beat both splinter cells, and although i loved them, they were all stealth. but Halo...no stealth.
