I'm not talking about scenes or plot arcs here, but after seeing all the AOTC hype in magazines, trailers and web sites etc, what objects/characters did you expect to play a bigger part in the film and have more screen time than what they did? Here are a few from the top of my head, all my own opinions obviously so hear me out.
Count Dooku: I felt that he came in too late in the movie to have any significant impact and was more of a tool to connect plot arcs than a threatening adversary. Of course this could be cleared up with Episode 3 but his presence in AOTC was rather dull.
Tusken Female & Child: For some reason I always wanted to know more about the society of alien species in Star Wars, with the designs of a Tusken female and child I was expecting to get a better look at the life of sand people but unfortunately their screen time was nothing more than a few seconds. I wasn't expecting a Discovery Channel documentary but something more than saber fodder at least.
Gondola Speeder: Admit it, how many others of you wanted to see it move?
AT-TE Walker: Show us the insides! While they are probably manned by Clones, is there a Jedi acting as captain and giving them orders? What do the interiors look like? How many troops can it hold? Again I wasn't expecting a load of detail but a brief shot from the cockpit would have given it more depth, curse Lucas for forcing us to spend more money on vehicle guide books just to satisfy our curiosity.
Trade Federation Core Ship: We saw it in space in TPM but now it's on the ground, has that changed anything about it then? Nope! For some reason I was expecting it to unleash a powerful attack after taking off since a ship that significant to the Trade Federation should not be allowed to enter a planet's atmosphere without having at least some air to ground attacking capabilities. Yoda made them a target priority because he didn't want them to escape but I was hoping there would be a second reason, which we would witness, that involved them having powerful air to ground weapons once airborne.
Techno Union Ship: Considering they were always shown in the trailers I expected them to be more than cannon fodder once again. The same rules for the Trade Federation Core Ship apply here too, a ship that significant should have some air to ground attacking capabilities, in that case destroying them would seem more urgent than just to prevent them from escaping.
Alas, I may have to wait until the "Special Limited Extra Effects Edition DVD" version comes out to see more of what I want.
