I recently watched Episode I, and I noticed something I hadn't before. At the end when Palpatine meets with Amidala, he tells her that "together, we will bring peace and prosperity to the Republic."
While Palpatine and Amidala are in profile, young Anakin is in between them (on the camera), looking at the Chancellor.
Chilling ...
What were your "chilling moments" like this?

Well, there's another moment, in ROTS, which connects nicely to this one, when the freshly disfigured Palpatine declares, "Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy, and we shall have...peace..."

Today's special: Disfigured Palpatine, nice, fresh, and ready-to-order.:rofl: Served with ... yikes, I've got nothing. Help?
Yeah, there's a similar moment later when Sidious is talking to Vader on Mustafar, saying, "It is finished, then. You have restored peace and (prosperity?) to the galaxy."

How about, "with fillet of Sith and your choice of Vader Fries or broiled Padawan"?
Yeah, I got next to nothin'. :)

Hmmm, I sorta remember that. I'll have to watch ROTS again, oh darn.

Here's another one. I watched AOTC tonight and this line, courtesy of Senator Padme Amidala, sort of sent chills up my spine.
"I've been dying a little bit each day since you came back into my life."
Given that Amidala dies of a broken heart, which was essentially due to Anakin's betrayal (note that the soundtrack theme "Anakin's Betrayal" plays during this scene as well as the Order 66 one), this line, however cheesy it may have been when first we saw AOTC, has quite the import.

YES! There are quite a few lines in AOTC that seem cheesy within the limits of that film by itself, but which take on a very spooky edge when you consider the ultimate destiny of the person speaking. My favorite one is when Anakin says, "I can't breathe..."
...That's a pretty Vader-ish sentiment if you ask me!

Yes, that is absolutely one of the greatest moments in the entire PT. McDiarmid's chilling delivery of the line... It's great! :superhappy:

Here is a chilling, ominous one: In the deleted scene from TPM atop the landing platform on Coruscant, as Padme follows the queen decoy and entourage toward the air speeder, and Qui Gon and Obi-Wan stay with the Chancellor, Anakin is conflicted as Padme motions him to follow. He looks back to Qui-Gon, unsure which party to stay with. It won't be the last time he'll be conflicted between following Padme or staying with the Jedi.

I really enjoyed that little circular talk with Anakin and Palpatine in his chamber where he basically reveals who he is. I also liked Anakin staring out at Mustafar before Padme arrives.
Oh - and the whole "Unlimited POWER!!!!!" thing.

In ROTS when Anakin is at the council chamber and Padme is at the apartment and are sensing each other in Coruscant. I think it is chilling because it has no dialogue and reveals such conflict in Anakin that you can practically feel it yourself.

I never thought of that scene in that context before, but it definately works.

One of the best scenes in the movie, and the whole saga. A shared silence that speaks volumes of dialogue.

I agree. I remember when I was at the Theater and it gave me goosebumps. Or maybe it was the A/C? haha
But, yeah it is a great moment that George doesn't overdo anything. He just lets it speak for itself.

Ya know, it's scenes like that that make me marvel at the complexities of the prequels that so many naysayers don't appreciate. Or maybe there was no prethought planning involved and the connection between the scenes was pure blind luck. But I don't believe so.

In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

Oh yes, and that eerie music... George Lucas is very good at creating this kind of scenes.

Yes! I was about to mention the music. That is what got me the most in that scene. If you listen closely, at one point you can hear an echo of "Across the Stars".
AGGGHGHGHGH that has to be my faaaaavorite scene in ROTS. :superhappy:

"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?"
There had been several moments previously throughout the PT when Palps is seducing Anakin, but this was when he began his final push and I knew it as soon as he uttered that question. Man, I love that entire scene, but that line itself sent the hairs on the back of my neck standing. The fact that I thought he was actually going to ask about Darth Bane didn't matter.

One of the coolest moments for me ("Chilling," if you will) is also music related and doesn't even occur during the actual film. It is the very end of the end credits of Episode I. John Williams did an incredible job with "Anakin's Theme." It seems that as the piece goes on, the melody line mutates until you hear more and more of the "Imperial March" melody incorporated into the line. And then, to top it off, you get the sound of Mr. Vader breathing. :vader:
Since you've been watching this movie about this little kid for the past two hours, even though you know going in that he becomes Mr. Vader, you are jolted to that reality with the musical hint and the breathing sound at the very end.

^ Yes! I forgot about that brilliant piece by Sir johhny! I haven't listened through the end of the credits in quite some time, but may have to soon just to hear that again!

The first line from Jar Jar's mouth, when you realize you are watching a total farce.

Yeah!
Something similar happens at the end of AotC when the Imperial March is played by Bass; very Chilling...

Not the same movie, and in the reverse order, but if you listen to the ESB soundtrack, at the part where Vader is about to fight Luke in cloud city you can hear the opening of 'Duel of the Fates'.
Track is 'Clash of lightsabers' and is about 30 seconds in. Not sure if it`s a co-incidence of if John Williams re-used it for any reason.

Well since we are kind of talking the original movies, for me the most chilling moment of the whole movie saga was when the Falcon turns back to get Luke after he fell down the drain. The sun in the background, the general situation which is pretty much desperate, with the TIE fighters etc... that gives me the goosebumps every time.
