Nah, it's alright mate, it's obvious it is a spoiler as no-one knows anything about him yet! But prob a good job to add the spoiler thing just in case anyone else is as daft as me.

The wookieepedia entry doesn't spoil anything since the first paragraph is actually the voiceover that Obi Wan said on the OS Clone Wars page when it was first introduced.

Pardon me for interrupting, but was I the only one who laughed when Yoda murmured, "Rescue Jabba the Hutt's son, you must." In the trailer? Who wrote the script? Jedi and Crimelords don't seem to mix. And really, Rotta?

And really, Rotta?
Well, I'm not gonna try and argue the virtues of the plot with this character, but you have a problem with the name? Really?
Boba, Jango, Naboo, Dooku, Kit Fisto, Windu, Jar Jar, Mon Mothma, Greedo, Lando, Lobot, Shmi, Ackbar, Han, Padme, Yoda, and of course Jabba. That's a lot of silly sounding names, don't you think? And I'm sure I'm forgetting several others. Seems to me that a name like Rotta fits right in.

Times of war change many things, including who is a 'friend' and who is a 'foe'. I'm sure they'll have a valid reason for helping out Jabba. I don't see the problem with the name either. :ohwell:

It's not the name I have the problem with. It's the character in question. Jabba the Hutt's son....I don't see that Star Wars "magic". Jedi rescuing a crimelord's kids. And then the whole- "Anakin helps Jabba. Jabba tries to kill Luke." To coincidental.
There are so many other Clone Wars stories out there that would be so much more interesting.

Well, why don't we wait and see how this story is actually told? I will admit that it sounds weird to have the Jedi helping Jabba, but as JMH said, let's see why they're doing this.

^ If you read the spoilers going around, there is a very good reason which I won't reveal here and it is very logical and understandable.
I still wondering what special meaning Rotta has that Jabba would name his child that.:scratchchin:

Heh, heh, no spoilers for me, thank you. But it's good to know that whatever it is makes sense to someone.
As far as the name goes, who the hell knows? As I pointed out earlier, Lucas seems to have this knack for creating some pretty silly sounding names. May not be anything more deep than that. ;)

I have to admit to almost laughing when I heard that in the trailer. First thing that popped into my mind was - "Is everyone in this giant Galaxy related to each other?".

Maybe it's the name of GL's rubbish bin or what he called it when he accidently kick it with his big toe.

Lucas certainly loves his silly sounding names, but Rotta doesn't quite sound right.
Rutta maybe?
Rolla? ;)
Roti? A nice, fairly high quality Indian bread?
Although Rotta sounds a bit like rotten, so maybe that's where it derives from.
