Recently I have become obsessed with ebay, and I have been purchasing old pc/xbox games. I compiled a list of games that I want to play, and some of them include Rogue Squadron, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, etc. etc. My main concern is that some of the older games will not work on my computer which is XP. I recently bought Yoda Stories (yes yes I know, don't say it.) and it did not run on my computer. There is no patch for it, however I realized that I had to overwrite the dll and ini file. Still, the screen is a bit buggy and flickers every time I move. I am wondering if anyone knows if games that were originally released before 2000 or so will still be able to play on my computer?

Some of my favorite games (to this day) were the X-Wing Trilogy games. Those are the space flight sim games released back in the day. Included in the X-Wing Trilogy were X-Wing, Tie Fighter, X-Wing Alliance, and some kind of half version of X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter.

X-Wing, from Windows 95 works. X-Wing Alliance from Windows 98 (released in 99 I believe) works. But Tie Fighter, released in between those two on Windows 98, does not. There is some compatibility issue with Direct X.

It's a shame, though. TIE Fighter was my favorite. X-Wing is too old, and X-Wing Alliance is too mission oriented. I love 'em all...but I miss it. Haha.
