...and only 6 questions.

Not about his life, or goals after Star Wars, or about the production of the episodes, but about the story itself.

Steven King said, in his forward to the reprinting of extended version of The Stand , that fans of the novel often ask him what became of the characters after the last line of the story. His response was that he didn't keep tabs on the characters, or get postcards from them updating him on their lives. But yet, even I wonder what goes through the mind of an author about their characters, as far as what they invision their characters doing outside the confines of the published draft.

I have written many stories. Sadly, none published as yet; most not even completed. But if someone asked me in regards to my 9-book PGW series, "What would your specific character have done if they hadn't gone to that planet, or fulfilled the mission you wrote about, etc..." or even, "If you hadn't altered the storyline in that direction in book 7, what would have happened instead; where would that character/plotline have gone?" I'd have an answer, because with my 9-book series, for example, my imagination has already explored many varying possibilities.

So with that in mind, what six questions would you ask George Lucas about the stories and characters in the Star Wars saga? Perhaps you've already asked the 6 questions in threads about the movies on this site, or tried to answer some of the most debated and intriguing questions about the storylines. So in a one on one personal interview between you and Mr. Lucas, what six questions would you ask him about the plots, characters, themes, unanswered questions, etc?

Well, I suppose I've replaced Javen as infamous thread killa, with new threads that die from the start with no responses.

Here;let me drive it into a deep coma.

My six questions.

1. Did Luke ever find those power converters after ROTJ?

2. Did Leia learn more about the force from Luke to help find those power converters?

3. Did Han shoot first or later after he married Leia?

4. Did Chewbacca find a woman wookie and have babie wookies?

5. Did Luke sell Yoda's clothes on ebay?

6. And finally;did Vader teach Luke the force ghost trick?

1. Are you dating anyone?

2. Why not?

3. Wow, that flannel is soft, do you wear flannel boxers?

4. Does the Dark Side really have cookies?

5. When is the last time you got cozy with a bowl of popcorn and watched Return of the Jedi?

6. What are you doing later? :flirt:

I didn't think we were allowed to ask question like that...but now the mighty Blizzee has, I will too. :)

1) Why have you not changed your hairstyle in the last 30 years?

2) Why have you never shaved in the last 30 years?

3) Why have you not bought any new clothes in the last 30 years?

4) When you created ILM, was the abbreviation really short for I Love Me?

5) Can I have some money?

6) Can I have some more money?

I'd want to know why he made TPM what it was - as that film has very little content to me.
And I'd want to know what made him think Jar-Jar was a good idea.

What are your questions, Tov??

Orandhite
11-29-2007, 04:52 PM
Apologies Tov, I just haven't come up with 6 serious questions yet so I thought I would help the thread along a little.

Me -> :spank: <- Anyone lucky enough to :spank: me.

They are still in my head. I'll get them on paper ASAP.

I really don't know what I would ask him to be honest. Maybe just general stuff about the Saga, but then I can probably read up about that elsewhere. Hmmmm, I'll have to have a think. Oh - I'd definitely ask him to make more SW films.

My interview would go as follows:

Me Presenting GL with bootleg of The SW Holiday Special: Hey man, wanna go destroy this copy of the Holiday Special with me?

GL: You bet!

afterwards:

Me: hey, wanna go grab some beers?

GL: sure!

1) George, in your mind, in the story within your imagination, what would have happened, how would things have changed, if Darth Vader had discovered that Leia was his daughter while she was his prisoner aboard the Death Star in ANH?

2) Regarding the deformity of Palpatine's face during his confrontation with Mace Windu, was the face that we saw after the electricity distorted him actually his true face all along, indicating that he was actually much, much older than he appeared as Palpatine's guise; and that the fight with Mace diminished his ability to shape-shift his face any longer...or was it really the electricity that cause the distortions of his appearance (which I never believed)?

3) How did Yoda know about the Sith Rule of Two? Had he studied a preserved Sith holocron on the Jedi Temple, or had he enountered either a surviving Sith during his 800 years, or came across evidence in his history, of the Rule of Two?

4) Did Bail Organa ever consider revealing Leia's true identity to Vader, in hopes of gaining the Dark Lord's compassion and/or possible appreciation?

5) Why did we see no TF frieghters or droid armament in the Old Trilogy (aside from the similar ship designs in the rebel fleet)? Did Sidious have the entire droid army and fleet of starships destroyed to keep it from any forces that may rise against him? Otherwise, why did the Rebel Alliance not work on attaining the droid armies to reactivate them and use them to bolster their forces?

6) If Kenobi has lived and escaped from the Death Star, and then later brought Luke to Dagobah himself for further training with Yoda, would he and Luke had double-teamed against Vader and the Emperor later on?

and 7: Yoda had felt that Luke wasn't ready to go against Vader in ESB. So why didn't Yoda go with him to deal with Vader?

Dang it, Tov!
Now i'd actually like to know Lucas's answers to those questions!

Orandhite
12-05-2007, 07:13 AM
Tov, good job. Really damn good job.

Those questions almost start a discussion - maybe a breakout thread to discuss questions from this one would be a good idea (unless, of course, they have already previously been asked in other threads)?

1. Am I Dreaming?

2. Are you Sure?

3. Are you really GL?

4. Your not lying to me are you?

5. Did you agree to this or was you forced?

6. Where did you get the idea from for SW?

Zedekk

1. Why did Padme have to die right after giving birth?
2. How is it that Leia remembers her mother whereas Luke does not?
3. After the vast criminal vaccum that Jabba's death created on Tatooine, who stepped into that role?
4. Do the Ewoks become a space-faring species after helping the rebellion take out the second Death Star, or are there protocols keeping a still developing race from getting ahead of themselves?
5. Does Luke understand or comprehend the balancing of the force that occured after his Father destroyed the Emperor? Does he feel that the force has been brought into balance?
6. Does Boba Fett escape from the Sarlac?

Okay, I have one fr now:

1- How do you think the SW saga would've taken shape if you had not decided to make Vader Luke's father in the 2nd draft for ESB?

Tovor
12-06-2007, 06:33 PM
^ Good one.
Perhaps, if I may answer, the last movie of the saga would have kept us with the villain Darth Badly had loved to hate until that point (as per one of his complaints in the Attack of the Clowns thread, if you remember).

Tovor
12-06-2007, 09:11 PM
I have another one for George.

In your earliest drafts of ANH, or at least in the draft within your mind before anything was put on paper, as evidenced by one of Ralph McQuarie's paintings from '74 or '75 (?), you either planned or toyed with the idea of making Luke's character a woman.

If Luke...er, Lucy Skywalker had come to fruition, would there still have been a Princess Leia character? Would there have been a romantic triangle between Lucy, Leia, and Han? Would Lucy and Leia--if there was a Leia after all--have been twin sisters?

I've got one:

Why did Star Wars happen "A Long Time Ago"?

I wanted to follow that up with something about how it affects the audiences perception of the Star Wars universe like dialogue and costumes and the general "feel" of the films, but I couldn't find the words properly.

That one he already has answered, actually. He has said he set "A long time ago..." to give it a fairy-tale feel, a take on the "once upon a time..." opening.

Orandhite
12-07-2007, 12:17 PM

How would the story of ANH have unfolded if the red R2 droid had not overheated when the Lars bought him from the Jawas?

Cassus Fett
12-07-2007, 03:27 PM
Ok ive got one.

How in your mind would the Saga have played out if you had have left the Stormtroopers with Lightsabers? Would the Force be less influential that it is now?

Orandhite
12-07-2007, 03:33 PM
Ooh, that's a good one Cassus!

I've got another one, but it's not related to Star Wars so maybe I shall have to delete it:

Was Willow based on LoTR as it shares some distinct similarities to it?

I just read about this in "The Making of Star Wars" by JW Rinzler, but I can't exactly remember the answer. I believe, though, that making Luke a girl, in essence, replaced the princess character. So, she would've been the only chick.

Jedi Master Harrison

This is just a jokey question, it wouldn't actually be one of the six, but I would ask him why in the name of Ewoks he allowed many EU references to the musical genre of 'jizz'. Means summin else where I 'cum' from.

1. How lonely is Skywalker Ranch these days since the exodus to the Presidio and why Victorian?
2. Why wasn’t Chiang retained after TPM? He had faboo concepts, with so much of his work actually used.
3. Will you ever return to Villa Balbianello? Or is that too sad? Or does that connect?
4. Is Qui Gon the ideal Jedi or will your heart always be with the metamorphic journey taken by that farm boy?
5. Will you consider releasing everything filmed for RotS – the entire original story with not only the deleted scenes but – well, everything else? We love marathons.
6. You had us at “A long time ago……” yet you don’t want us to take Star Wars too seriously. Not even as an analogy?
