Okay, we all know it when we see it. Every once in a while, there'll be a moment in film that qualifies under the prestigious title of Badass. Whether it be a certain way a character kills another or a spectacular explosion, or a perfect line of dialogue, you definitely know it when it happens. So what do you think are the best badass moments in movies and TV?

To start things off, I'm going to nominate Captain Vidal in Pan's Labyrinth. A vengeful servant widens his smile by several inches with a knife, slitting his mouth open right up into the cheek. Then, without anaesthetic other than a bottle of booze, he sews his cheek up. Now that's Badass.

River Tam in Serenity, her big fight scene at the end.

Pure badassery.

I'm gonna throw in Marv from Sin City. At the end of his segment, he's sent to the electric chair. After receiving a massive dose of electricity, enough to cause blood to start pouring out of his mouth and ears, he just looks up at his jailors and says "Is that the best you can do, pansies?" Now that's badass.

^ that was pretty F-ing awesome!

You know what I always thought was BA, but not in the usual way people think of? The end of "The Usual Suspects," when

Verbal loses the limp and then you realize "Oh s**t, he's Keyser Soze!"

That's pretty BA

That was the first thing that came to mind when I read the thread title.

All of those are awesome - the bit I like about the bit from Pan's Labyrinth is just after what you described where he drinks the whiskey and it dribbles out the side of his face - nasty!

The bit in 300 where Dilios lost an eye in the fighting and King Leonidas is asking him about it:

King Leonidas: Dilios, I trust that "scratch" hasn't made you useless.
Dilios: Hardly, my lord, it's just an eye. The gods saw fit to grace me with a spare.

Good one!

But Arnold is pretty much badass in every action movie he makes. I'll say it again, nobody kills people in movies better than Arnold.

Also Achilles in Troy was pretty Badass, every fight he was in was crazy.

Achilles vs Hector

The absolute rage that is Achilles slaying the true prince of troy and general of the armies of Troy. After killing Hector, Achilles drags the corpse of Hector for 7 days around the Gates of Troy. One of the many Badass moments of this fight if you notice on the final death blow Achilles waits for Hector to look him in the eyes before delivering the sword into the chest:devil: Great idea for a thread and yes it is true Arnold is the king just watch Commando the body count is up around 150+ LMAO:w00t:

Bill in Kill Bill Vols. 1 and 2

Okay, so he didn't rack up the body count or violence or anything like that, but he is such a pervasive force in these movies. He IS the movies. Like he says he's The Man. Everything, from his first dialogue at the beginning of 1 to his speeches at the end of 2 is just simply badass.

One of the best moments for arnold is in Conan the Barbarian at the end when confronting the snake king he is almost lured into a daze by the king until he wakes up if you will then hacks off his head which btw was extremely painful to watch seeing that Conan's sword must have been dull it took 6 chops:blink: he then rasies the head to the crowd and tosses it down the stairs as we get a gratuitous head roll down what seemed 5 miles worth of stairs:w00t: I would post it but it might be a bit excessive for the site and for once I'am thinking of the kids lol...

That is indeed one of Arnold's best kills in a movie and that movie is a favorite of mine. :yeah:

I quite like the end of Aliens where Ripley battles the alien queen (or whatever) while wearing the big mining suit all like: "bring it on, :censored: !"
I don't remember the details, really, as it's been a while since i watched that movie, but it was pretty badass.

Orandhite

I was going to say ^ that too. It rocks! It's the bit where Newt is being chased by the queen right? And Ripley comes out and says "Get away from her, you :censored:!". Awesome!

^Yes! That part!

And to continue with my women kicking butt theme, I will add Eowyn's slaying of the Witch King from Return of the King, which was always one of my favorite parts from the books (though i didn't find the on-screen depiction quite up to scratch, the idea of it is pretty bad ass)... where the Witch King is all talking smack: "You gonna kill me? No man can kill me! Now what?"
And then you hear some laughing and Eowyn takes off her helmet and all this gorgeous blond hair catches the wind and she's all: ":censored:, i ain't no MAN!" And then chops off his head!

Awwww, snap!

Following on the theme of Aliens, the bit where the marines are thawing out in the locker room and Vasquez is doing chin ups.

Hudson asks her: "Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"

Vasquez coolly replies: "No. Have you?"

That line totally kicks ass.

Roland Tembo is one major badass. I mean, the guy bags a T-Rex!

Yeah - Vasquez was totally badass!
And TFE -i share your ambition of wanting to do just one chin up some day.... Not that i am working very hard to achieve that goal....

Michael Corleone- the Godfather series. This guy is totally badass. He begins his crime life by murdering a drug dealer and a cop and goes on to orchestrate a mass murder of mob bosses and ultimately, his own brother! One bad mothaf***a.

I have just seen The Bourne Ultimatum - a good watch, I must say. As with all the Bourne movies, there's a nice fight scene between Bourne and some top-notch assassin sent to do him in. And Bourne goes after this guy with a hard-back book. Yes, a book! That was a new one for me. Very Jackie Chan. Very badass.

I actually remember coherently thinking: "holy :censored:, he gonna kill that mutha-:censored: with a mutha-:censored: BOOK!"

^ DC! :spank: How wude!

There are a couple of bad ass moments in Ong Bak 2 - Warrior King. One where the main character does a bit of a Game of Death bit where he runs up about five stories inside this brothel kicking crap out of everyone that runs his way - chucking them through walls (it's set in Thailand so they have like paper walls!) and throwing them down into the stair well. Now, this sounds okay, nothing particularly new for a martial arts movie.

Apart from the fact that the entire 4 minute scene is shot in ONE TAKE! It follows the guy up the stairs, keeps panning to the guys falling over the side and back again to the action. The stunts, co-ordination and stamina required to make this scene believable, let alone an exciting part of the movie is totally badass. Check it out!

YouTube - longest scene EVER from Ong-Bak 2/The Protector

The other badass moment in this movie is near the end where the hero breaks a shed load of bones one after the other. The best bit is the end where he runs off, and there is just a pile of people lying there!

YouTube - Ong-Bak 2/The Protector Ting breaking about 20 bones

Just saw From Dusk Till Dawn, and I have to say the moment where one of the vampires is impaled with a shotgun and BECOMES the shotgun was pretty freakin badass.

HELLS YES!

That movie is so much fun! So over the top, but so amazing! I think one of my favorite parts is when Freddy Rodriguez randomly becomes a ninja with those knives in the hospital. So awesome!

"Apology accepted, Captain Needa."

Need I say more?
