I figured that since the third season of Entourage premieres tonight on HBO we should dedicate a thread to all things Aquaman.
Who watches the show? Who hasn't heard of it? Who is your favorite character? Who is your least favorite character? What is your favorite moment? Who is your favorite guest star?
So let's hug it out and talk about Vincent Chase and company.

I haven't watched one episode of this show but I should to see if it is any good. I've heard that it appears to be very funny but when watching it, you barely laugh.

I snagged Season 2. It's a must own.
Solid premiere last night. It looks like Pivs is well on his way to stealing another season as the best character on the show. I liked the James Woods cameo and I really liked the rack on James Woods' girlfriend.

Agreed about Season 2. I may just watch it again this week.
And it was a very solid premiere; a little slower than the preivous season premieres, but a good introduction to the status quo of the guys for the season. And yes, Piven's definitely the star of the show right now, though they better focus on E some more, too, because his arc last season was great too.

I read somewhere, I think Entertainment Weekly but I may be mistaken, that Drama is supposed to have a bigger showing this season. Possibly even a resurgence in his career.
Here's to hoping somone green lights a Viking Quest movie.

That's awesome. It'd be great to see Johnny get an ongoing storyline that doesn't revolve around him screwing up all the opportunities for small-time stuff that he's gotten.

I've watched this show since it premiered, and bought both seasons 1 & 2 last week on DVD.
The 3rd season premiere was solid. I like the introduction of some 'actual' family. After a while, you would start to wonder what the extended families would be up to, right? So, nice job with that.
Also, in the middle of season 1 on DVD. I really should've bought those sets earlier than I did, because now I fear I'll wind up getting the plotlines confused with the current season ongoing. Oh well.

Agreed, I was glad to finally see the families that these guys had left behind in New York. Thought it was a great introductory episode for new viewers, while having a good portion of what everyone loved from the previous seasons (mainly the bits involving James Woods and those radio station girls). Would've liked to have seen more of Eric in the episode, but they're definitely making an effort to put Ari in the forefront, which isn't a bad thing.

Woods was good but the best cameo on the show was last season when Vince and co. are hanging out at the madame's mansion with the hookers, before they realize that they are hookers, and Bob Saget is there talking about how he has an open account at the house and such. That guy is funnier than $hit when he doesn't have to worry about censorship.

Oh, without a doubt. Another good one was Val Kilmer in the first season as the "sherpa" who helped out the crew during the drought.

Bouncing around on the channels tonight with nothing to do, I decided to throw on HBO at around 10pm to wait an hour for Tourgasm. So I started to watch Entourage tonight and I must say that it was very good. I thought the writing was well done and it was an interesting and funny show. How was tonights episode compared to the other episodes from the past two seasons?
btw, Kevin Dillon is the man on that show.

It was above average compared to the previous seasons, but definitely not the best of the best. I'd reserve the ComicCon/U2 episode and the Sundance episode as the two best of the series, and those were both in the second season. But this was a very good episode, and I can'y wait to see what happens next. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

That was pretty money when he tossed them the keys and told them to return it to the dealer when the lease is up.
I guess can roll around on his new Ducati but I have a feeling VC will hook him up with something ridiculous to replace the Maz.
I can't get over how better and better Pivs gets every week. Has anyone checked out that website, www.interviewwithari.com, where you do the interactive job interview with Ari? I haven't done it yet but my girl did. She said it was pretty cool.
So next week Ari's daughter wants to date a teen actor. Sounds like an episode that could win Pivs the Golden Globe.

Good call about Dom Golla. I can see why they introduced the character but they were wise enough to remove him, at least from a permanent standpoint, before he caused the show to spiral downward. Good episode though. Bruno Kirby is getting old. He's still a solid actor though. One complaint though. Did we really need to see Dom's bare @$$ slamming away on the escort? It was like some long lost George "The Animal" Steele sex tape.

Finally watched the latest episode last night, I DVR'd it in HD on Sunday night, and it was money. Ari's coup to send Max to Kazahstan (sp) to do the Penny Marshall movie was great. Also is that the first time we have ever seen Drama drive? It's the first that I can remember. Big finish there with Vinnie laying down the demand. Interesting to see where this goes. I know it's a comedy but now that V is blowing up as an actor shouldn't there be a crazed stalker storyline at some point?

I agree, although if done right, they could make it work a second time. That said, there is plenty of other potential plotlines to explore with this show and waaayyyy too early for a retread.
DBlDwn- As for Drama driving, well, I believe he was driving either late in season 1 or early in season 2. In any case, it was soon after they were put up in Jessica Alba's place in Malibu and he had to drive to an audition. He felt as though he blew the audtion and had a case of severe road rage with a golf club on the way back. I could've sworn he was driving for that.

Nope. Just re-watched season 2 on DVD, and Drama was definitely driving home after that audition. Turtle even tells him it's not good to drive angry.
Tonight's episode was great, and I'm really interested to see what role Ari's wife has in everything that's going on with his agency. There's something beneath the surface that's gonna be a surprise; she's never been this involved in his work before.

Drama inadvertantly leading a straight man to consider switching teams and then rolling out of nowhere to insight a riot with Seth Green's entourage in an attempt to do something masculine is absolutely classic. I would like to say for the definitive record right here and now: If Pivs does not win both the Golden Globe and the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Comedy then we will have witnessed true crime in motion.

That sucks about Saigon dumping Turtle. Of course at least T got his $40K anyway. Drama continues to get better and better. "You watch Viking Quest?" That was great. With the hair and everything Vince is perfect for a Joey Ramone biopic. That's great writing. Does anyone know if Landau is going to have a continuing role as I Wanna Be Sedated moves along in production or was this a one shot cameo? I felt bad for him being a lonely guy just wanting someone to talk to.

Finally watched the latest episode last night. Drama just gets better every episode. It's good to see Kevin Dillon get a chance to shine on this show. $20K is nothing for a pair of shoes when you've got enough money. Besides, like Vince said, it would be worth it just for the joy that your buddy would be feeling because of it. They're not my style at all but those shoes are worth some serious money. Turtle even got them in a customized wooden box. You can't argue that. My girl and I have been discussing this week whether or not they are setting Ari up for a spinoff. Granted it's the season finale, and cliffhangers are ususally the method of choice for season finales so Vince considering going agentless and firing Ari could just be chalked up as a cliffhanger, it does look as if they have been setting him up for his own show this season. Pivs is too good on the show, and Ari is too great of a character, to be Best Supporting Actor material. It would be like a better, more comedic, version of Arli$$. Only a Hollywood agent as opposed to a sports agent.
I just can't believe that it is already the season finale. Time to break out the Season 1 and Season 2 DVD's.

That's an interesting possibilty, but I don't think it'll happen. For one, as much as we all love the show, I don't think the ratings are all that high, but I'll damned if I can find the numbers online. Secondly, I would fear that Ari would become too much with a half hour all his own. It's best to be wanting more, don't you agree? And I think HBO feels that way too.
DblDwn
08-24-2006, 09:26 AM
I haven't seen the ratings but, from everything I have heard, the ratings are pretty high (for a cable show at least). I guess Wahlberg was on one of the talk shows yesterday, Regis and Kelly I think, promoting Invincible and he was asked about the success of Entourage. Apparently he is so overwhelmed with its popularity that he doesn't know what to do. That would lead me to believe that it's doing just fine ratings wise. Granted it's not going to equal the ratings of Lost because everyone has ABC but not everyone has HBO.
RollaFett
08-24-2006, 02:12 PM
The ratings may be high this season, I don't know. I do remember reading prior to this season, however, that the numbers for the previous two seasons were only so-so. I feel bad for Ari. He didn't screw up in the first place, Vince did. Vince got fired from A2, Vince lost Medellin; Ari tried his best not to let those things happen. But Vince's principles (which include stubbornness, apparently) got him in hot water. Sometimes he has to do things he doesn't wanna do; that's how life goes. Yeah, he got lied to, but he's the actor. That's how it goes sometimes, I guess. But Alan is a real prick, too, and I felt that ever since his first appearance on the show. Loved that Dana Gordon tried to stab him in the finale, but now she and Ari are on the outs, too.
And I actually felt really, really bad for Bob Ryan, disillusioned with the whole thing so much that he doesn't even fight it and still signs over the project to Warners, even though it'll never be produced.
And Josh Weinstein just proved how much of a tool he is. But the one thing Ari did screw up on was that whole end sequence. I knew it was coming the moment that the boys walked into MGA, and I was right.
Oh well. For those who don't know, here's a spoiler:
Carla Guigino, who was in Sin City as Marv's parole officer, is signed on for a few episodes once the season starts again after The Sopranos. She's supposed to be playing Vince's new agent.
End Spoilers
So yeah, should be interesting.

Watched the finale last night. So is Ari getting a spinoff or will this work itself out in the end?
I gotta side with Ari on this one too. Vince is displacing his own disappointment in himself onto Ari. As JTS stated above Vince is the one whose ego cost him A2. Then he cost himself Medellin. Sure Ari lied to Bob and that contributed to Vince losing out on I Wanna Be Sedated but I think it is safe to say that the combination of Bob's senillity and his lack of Hollywood faith would have stopped the movie in the long run anyway.

Terrific finale, but I wish you had said it was a spoiler for next season, JTS. I assumed you were referring to the finale for those who hadn't seen it yet. Then, that wouldn't make a lot of sense considering you had discussed the entire episode prior. My bad.

Just became a fan of this show this season... Jeremy Piven is absolutely golden... I thought the finale was awesome, real jaw-dropper... but if what JTS says is true...
SPOILER
about Carla Gugino, where does that leave Ari? Because honestly... there's not a show in it without him for me. Well, him and Drama. They're the main reason I return regularly.

I just went to the discussion boards on HBO.com for Entourage to try and see if there were any official-type news there and those boards are a mess. The order in which messages are posted is idiotic. It's newest first, and bottom to top. Ugh. A mess. Anyway, I didn't find out any official news.

"Kicking and Screaming"
Not the Will Ferrell soccer comedy, but a 1995 dramedy about recent college grads. decent flick, by the way, and a very nice bonus with Mrs. Ari, to be sure.

Interesting. And that's funny, because she ended up as Will Ferrell's wife in "Old School", and then Ferrell went on to be in the soccer comedy of the same name as the movie she was in. Crazy Hollywood.
It's also amusing that both Ari and Mrs. Ari have significant parts in "Old School" but they never interact with one another.

Good to hear, but where did you hear it? I can't find anything about it.
Also, I thought that they were originally going to do a continuation of season 3 with 8 episodes. I know that HBO has done that in the past with other shows like "Sex and the City", and I was pretty sure I read that somewhere.

There was an announcement regarding the return of The Sopranos for its final run and the article also mentioned Entourage returning that same night.
It's the fourth season because, On Demand, the last episode description states, "In the third season finale........."

It turns out that I was lying before or, better yet, On Demand was lying because when I bought the Season 3 DVD the other day it's listed as "Part 1." So this is a continuation of the 3rd season. Sorry I doubted you buddy.
Good episode tonight. The rivalry between Ari and Vinnie's new agent is going to make for good TV. Plus we've got a reinvigorated Johnny Drama which is always good for laughs.

Carla Gugino is one of the sexiest women ever. I am so glad she is both eye candy and a great addition to this show. The rivalry is awesome.
Johnny Drama has always been second fiddle to Ari, which sucks because both guys are so damn funny! They make this show.

Agreed. The way he and Pivs play off each other is top shelf comedy.
Drama just kills me though. When he busted out the gold clubs to the car...awesome.
I love him in the episode on the day of Aquaman's release, "A Day In The Valley" or something like that, when he keeps complaining about how hot it is in the valley and how he needs to stay hydrated. Of course, him "releasing" the nerves in his trailer, with his mic still turned on, before filming the Ed Burns show was pretty great comedy as well.

This is going to be the year that Pivs wins an Emmy. His emotional breakdown last night was a thing of beauty. His gleefully re-entering the workplace, complete with ear to ear grin, as he hurriedly moved about to fire Bob was nothing short of great comedy. His "can you see this" message on the whiteboard was nothing short of classic Ari Gold.

As to the earlier comments about Ari and Drama, well, I couldn't agree more. Those two are just perfect and always have the best lines. I love it when Drama references earlier roles he's played. Classic stuff.
Anyways, I also just finished getting caught up by watching season 3 on dvd. I had forgotten about the three way the E did. Nice. And that blonde was smokin'!
That said, is this current season actually bing referred to as season 3, part 2? Because the dvd was part 1. The whole thing is idiotic in any case because there was about an 8 month break between. Just call it season 4 and be done with it.

What do you mean? The current season of 'Lost' is divided into seperate parts?
Now I know that HBO did this before with Sex and the City, but at least with that, there were only about 3-4 months in between and part 2 was 8 episodes instead of the usual 12 or 13.
Does anyone know how many episodes of Entourage we're getting this time around?

Yeah the first few episodes of Lost were in the fall and then they took a break until after the new year. There was roughly an 8 week, perhaps longer, break between the two sections of the season.
The same with The Sopranos. They showed the first few episodes in the fall and then made us wait until just a few weeks ago before it returned for the final 8 episodes of the series.
RollaFett
04-25-2007, 12:23 PM
With HBO, I can live with that because they don't work like a regular network (NBC, ABC, CBS etc). But just call it what it should be called. They are seperate seasons and deal with it.
As far as Lost goes, well that's friggin' absurd! You shouldn't have to wait that long for new episodes.

I like what they've done. They had Vince fire Ari for the cliffhanger element, go with a new agent for a few episodes and now we're back with Ari as his agent. I respect that they didn't drag it out for any longer than it needed to be.
RollaFett
05-14-2007, 04:19 PM
Yeah, me too. I mean, let's face it, if Ari is in the show, he HAS to be Vince's agent at some point, right? Right.
I really like the idea of Vince and E buying the Medilillian (sp?) script. Maybe Drama will now have to by paying for everything for a while, eh?

05-14-2007, 08:17 PM
It ruined it for me just a little bit because I knew that Vince would end up playing Escobar because my fiance, being the celebrity gossiping s!ut that she is, left her Us Weekly lying around one day on my way to throw some mud and, without going into further detail, there was a picture of Adrian in full Escobar attire on set.

Finally saw it last night!
In the end, I was a bit underwhelmed, and I really can't pin that feeling on any one thing in particular. Oh well. It was still decent.
What I was really happy about was that it seems as though the name "Medellin" may finally start to fade away from this show, which would be a good thing.

I'm trying to figure out if Jamie-Lynn Sigler was on the show because she's dating Jerry Ferrera or if she did the show, met Jerry Ferrera and that's when they started dating. Either way, nice cameo.
You knew Ari wasn't going to take the job. That would have completely changed the availability of the character and he's too good to put limits on his screen time.

11-07-2008, 01:10 PM
That was the last episode I saw, and honestly, I wasn't sure what Ari was gonna do. I have faith that they would've found a way to keep Ari involved week to week even in that capacity.
