View Full Version : Gilligan's Island...or Lost?

The other day at work, 2 people jokingly exchanged song lyrics to some old time song, and then another joined in and they sang for a good minute or two. Then another joined in, but I didn't know the lyrics. Then my cubicle partner started singing the opening theme to Gilligan's Island, and several more people joined in. It was hilarious, and we were laughing as we sang. All in all, there were a half dozen or so of us, ages ranging from 25-54 years old, in the middle of a large busy cubicle office, all singing in almost perfect synchronization the Gilligan theme, while others around us, including our assistant manager, looked on and laughed. It was spontaneous, fun, and downright hilarious.
Ages 25 to 54 years old, all singing the beloved Gilligan theme in perfect synch...how much more multi-generational/inspirational than that can you get?

Sounds like someone slipped something into the 'ol water cooler.:nahnah:
Anyway, I voted Gilligan's Island.

We don't have a water cooler, so it may have been in the coffee pot that something was slipped. =p

Indeed. Your post is proof alone. I mean, your childhood memories started when I was barely a child anymore.

Got better childhood memories than that show. Lost wins for me

Tovor, Gilligan's island has been on TV in syndication for decades. Everyone's seen an episode or two at one time or another. Lost has only been around for 3 years. I'm not saying that Lost will have more impact, it's just that the reason everyone knows the song is because we've all heard it before a few times.

I've actually heard the song 632,719 times myself the last time I counted.

Sorry Justin, I just don't buy your explaination. Has anybody ever tried singing the theme song to Lost? No? I thought not.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it. Point proven, case closed.

Gilligan's Island has my vote...LOST doesn't have such a catchy theme song.

Just sit right back and you'll hear me sing
the tale of a fateful trip
that started from this tropic port
aboard this tiny ship
The mate was a mighty sailor man
the skipper brave and sure
five passengers set sail this day
for a three hour tour, a three hour tour.....
yeah, voted for Gilligans Island, even though I could never figure out why the Professor seemingly would bring an entire library and science lab with him on a three hour trip; which also goes for the Howell's and their entire jewelry and fine clothes collection; and Ginger and her fancy dresses (which never seemed to ear or tear, same as everyone else's clothes).
