I was listening to the Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter earlier today, and it amazed me to think that that song is pretty much the theme of the summer of love and Vietnam. Think about it. In every montage of Vietnam and Woodstock, Gimme Shelter is played at some point. Every single one. It's been burned into the collective consciousness as one of the themes of that time. It's kinda cool that a song can reach that level. It's like (on a much bigger level) how Smells Like Teen Spirit became a theme of the early 90s suburban kid. I dunno, I just found it kinda cool.
