Was Leia Tortured on the Death Star?

I remember seeing the droid but nothing in the movies indicates she was tortured. and if she was how?

Oh yeah, she was. Not just the interrogation droid, but sleep deprivation treatment at the very least. I don't think they put her in that shock rack that they put Han in on Bespin (mainly because I think that's improvised with equipment there), but they definitely tried to break her.

Y'know, I'd think she would've been a little more distraught than they showed after being interrogated and having her home planet blown up before her eyes.

But instead, she's cracking wise about stormtrooper height.

Yes she was tortured. It is mentioned in the film that her strength against the mind probe was considerable and she wouldn't reveal the location of the secret base. She was injected with drugs and had been sleep deprived. Also there is a good chance they shone bright lights during interrogation.

well, there's that one scene where they wheel in this kind of unpleasant looking..thing that looks like a torture device. And if you read the Princess Leia captive to evil journal by jude watson i think(it's, like, 90 pages) then that also confirms it.

And I'd probably find that book more intriguing if it wasn't put out by Scholastic and aimed at 9-12 year olds. I mean, how detailed can they really get?

Amazingly detailed for 9 year olds. I read the book just out of curiosity but I don't think i'll be reading any more journals. They're way more primitive than the jedi apprentice, and even that i can read in an hour.

The Audio Drama does a great job of actually going through a lot of the torture, what with the screaming and everything. Vader really works her over, it's dark stuff.

I found it. Then it took awhile to actually find it, since it's on tape. I had to find a tape player I could plug in, then I had to figure out which chapter it would be in, and where in that chapter.

Anyways, it does display some good interrogation. Loved the irony when Vader says, "Your father orders you to tell us." :D
