Formula 1 season has started again last weekend, finally. Unfortunately M. Schumacher did not win this race which was not boring at all like we've seen in the previous season.
All Formula 1 fans, if any post away.
Oh and please don't talk down to Formula 1 because you're more of a champ car racing fan. Only Formula 1. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif

I think Schumacher and Ferrari are going to win as always.
It would be a miracle to see McLaren or another of the other companies winning.

Schumacher will win the driver title. But whether Ferrari will win the championship as a team I'm not sure.
McLaren seems pretty strong this year. Their new car is jet to be released. They might have some surprises. And they have two strong drivers in particular Raikonen. He's a future world champion, trust me.
Barichello I believe, won't be that good this year. He feels underrated being second to Schumacher and all, while the season hadn't even started jet.

Well the first race of the season wasn't "boring", that's for sure. It was interesting to watch the new rules come into effect. I just don't like the fact that you can't refuel betwwen qualifying and the race, although it brings in a whole new light for strategies. And as Ferrari proved, being in front with a light fuel load isn't always the best.
Roll on March 23rd.

It wasn't just because of the low fuel load strategy that Ferrari was on. The rain was an unforeseen factor that blew the strategy.
But I love the rain, it messes with everyones stategy. Usually Schumacher rules the races that have unforseen factors like the rain. This time luck wasn't on his side.
I'm a M Schumacher fan but I didn't like the last season because of it's predictability. This year promeses to bring a lot closer racing.

You make valid points Darth Coil, I just don't want to keep seeing teams like McLaren & William down in 16th on the grid because they choose to do a one stopper.
I am glad the changes were made, and I look forward to an exciting season, I just hope the new rules aren't too drastic.

It'll be very exciting, trust me. But M Schumacher will triumph in the end.

I'm not sure about those rules either, the future will tell.
I do know this. The new rule in qualifying is for the better. Just one explosive lap will bring the best drivers to the front of the grid. Because you need to focus really good, if they make a mistake it's over.
That's why the starting grid of the first race was quite different from last season. Other drivers were more ahead on the grid.

I think this season will be boring as ever, just like the last 3 seasons with a super-Ferrari and some other crap teams.

Well now we have two races with out a Ferrari win, and with Renault posting a chalenge of their own.
So if you don't get you own way in to the first corner, just drive into the guy next to you. This might cause a chain reaction behind you, but hey, if your name is Schumacher.
Good race by Rikkinen, though.

Kimi Raikonen deserves respect. He will be a future champion, maybe even this year!?
I think I might know why you don't like him. He's The Iceman. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif That's his nickname on the paddock.
He isn't impressed easily like other drivers, that's what makes him different and a champion to be. He doesn't care if Pizzonia or Mr Schumacher is trying to take his position, he will act the same and defend his position to the max.
I think The Iceman is great! For example; Yesterday when was at the press-conference he said: I was just driving around and than won the race. While other people drove their asses of and several drvers fainted!! He's truly The Iceman! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

I just read the sporting section in the newspaper. There was an article about Wilson, the teammate of Verstappen in the Minardi team.
It said that Wilson was only just released after being in hospital for about two days. His hospitalisation came after the intense race last sunday. The blodflow to his arm was stopped and his arm got paralized. His arm will recover but he needs a few days of rest.
All this was due to the brilliant HANS (Head And Neck Support) which is introduced to Formula 1 this year. It was set to tight around his neck. Several other drivers have complained about the HANS in the past.
I think they should get rid of it!
Obi-Stu

Wasn't Barrichello testing a different HANS this weekend? He blamed his early exit at the first race on
the HANS saying he couldn't concentrate.
It is obvious tht this thing is causing more trouble than it's worth.

...Holden Racing Team rule....
Darth Coil

Didn't know about Barrichello. Normally he doesn't blame anything else than himself. He's very honest, so this HANS thing should really be banned out of F1!
ps: It looks very silly as well doesn't it?
Obi-Stu
03-25-2003, 08:04 AM
He said that if he has carried on racing, he would have been able to race properly.
Who's idea was this anyway?
Darth Coil
03-25-2003, 08:12 AM
The HANS is probably in F1 thanks partly to Max Mosley. But I'm not sure at all.
Something else. Have you heard about Zanardi? He has driven his first race since he lost both his legs last year! It was a carting race, he was leading yhe race for a long time but then spinned.
Obi-Stu
03-26-2003, 07:16 AM
Hey I remember Zanardi, How did he loose his legs? Surely not in Formula one.
Darth Coil
03-26-2003, 08:21 AM
It was last year, he was in a race of the CART championship. I don't know precisely. I do know the race took place in Deutschland Hockenheim. A terrible accident made him lose both his legs.

That's a pity. Great to hear that he's making a comeback.
Darth Coil
03-27-2003, 11:27 AM
Zanardi won't be driving in competition in F1 or Champ cars ever again, it'll be for his own pleasure. Sad story. ???

Some F1 drivers were asked what they thought of the war in Iraq.
Worldchampion Michael Schumacher said this:
"We're drivers, but we don't keep our eyes shot for what goes on in the world. I find it a disgrace that the last few discussions were mostly about when the war would start, not how to prevent them."
Juan-Pablo Montoya said this:
"I'm a Columbian, and there is a war going on in my country for about 30 or 40 years. Each day when I read the newspaper I see reports about bombings, kidnappings and assasinations. But I can imagine that Europeans, who aren't used to this, say: 'Oh my, it is war'."
