Thought i would post this here aswell, as the one in the SW RPG section worked really well.
Basically you can use this to flesh out the begginnings to an RPG and talk about what people would like to see in the next one. Its saves on all the ones posted that never go beyond their first post.

If someone would like to improve my Stargate RPG I'd be pretty happy...

Later on, if this section survives, I might pitch an idea for a more action oriented rpg I've had written up for awhile. Basically battles. Monster battles. ;)

Ok, im thinking about starting an RPG about survivors after the Worlds First Nuclear War. This RPG would track the lives of the survivors through the many months of Nuclear Winter and Summer through the devastated world.
What's everyone think?

How bad's the nuclear winter?
Worse than then the Ice age bad?
Years of no summers bad?

Not my cupotea at the moment, but you might be able to reel in people who don't normally roleplay. People who are interested in situations like that, survival, rebuilding.

From Wikipedia:
Nuclear winter is a hypothetical global climate condition that is predicted to be a possible outcome of a large-scale nuclear war. It is thought that severely cold weather can be caused by detonating large numbers of nuclear weapons, especially over flammable targets such as cities, where large amounts of smoke and soot would be injected into the Earth's stratosphere. The term has also been applied to one of the after-effects of an asteroid impact or supervolcano eruption.
Large quantities of aerosol particles dispersed into the atmosphere would significantly reduce the amount of sunlight that reached the surface, and could potentially remain in the stratosphere for months or even years. The ash and dust would be carried by the midlatitude west-to-east winds, forming a uniform belt of particles encircling the northern hemisphere from 30° to 60° latitude (as the main targets of most nuclear war scenarios are located almost exclusively in these latitudes). The dust clouds would then block out much of the sun's light, causing surface temperatures to drop drastically.
And Nuclear Summer:
A Nuclear summer is a hypothetical scenario resulting from nuclear warfare that would follow a nuclear winter. In this scenario, the amount of water in the stratosphere would increase, causing greenhouse warming of the surface. The nuclear detonations would also produce oxides of nitrogen that would then deplete the ozone layer around the Earth. This layer screens out UV-B radiation from the Sun, which causes genetic damage to life forms on the surface. Possibilities of any existing species to survive in this extreme condition will be less. The absorption of ozone also results in a heating of the stratosphere, which results in a further contribution to greenhouse heating.
Other more simplistic versions of the hypothesis exist: that Nuclear winter might give way to a nuclear summer. The high temperatures of the nuclear fireballs could destroy the ozone gas of the middle stratosphere

Yes, but that doesn't answer my question. Nuclear winter could be Krakatoea (Years without summers bad) or Ice Age bad, if, IF, it actually happened. There's no concensus on nuclear winter, much less it's possible severity. How are YOU going to play it?
