Why did mace choose master fisto, master kolar and master tiin to fight the emporer and not some other jedi masters?I mean tiin, kolar, and fisto fell very fast they can't have been the best masters he had there, can they have?

They wanted to show how powerful the emperor was and what better way to do it than to have him take out 3 great masters with ease.

These were the only members of the jedi council left on the planet. All the others were fighting the clone wars on other planets. Even Yoda was on Kashyyyk.

They were all good masters and, apart from Anakin, the strongest that were left on the planet, as Pep said. The 4 of them should have been more than enough to defeat Sidious. However, none of them had ever fought a Sith before and they probably underestimated what Sidious was capable of.
It was a very disappointing scene - the Jedi should have put up a much better fight and if anything Sidious then beating them would make him look even stronger, rather than the 3 Jedi just looking like younglings.

No, they stood there gob-smacked and frozen to the spot and let him kill them.

Yeah that is true^^ I mean master Kolar and master Tiin went down in a matter of seconds.

Yeah. It was pretty wimpy. I mean, 3 of the best taken down by one with the another of the best (Windu) watching.

Maybe they were waiting for the Force to guide their actions, but no such help came. Mace, being from another school of thought ("the Force obeys your commands") was able to counter and come to the point of defeating Sidious.
Or maybe it was really sloppy action designed to quickly get down to the point - the real showdown between Mace and Sidious.

Off topic: WTF? How did you get that image for your sig?
No help indeed. That is a very logical assessment though.

I mean with the way they fought they might as well have sent younglings.

But they did. Didn't they? :scratchchin: They are young by Yoda's standards. :nahnah:

I think they just had cheap, bad internet access. They lagged big time and Sidious pwn3d them.
Cy: my sig is one of the banners at Jedinet.com ... or at least they were there. And they will be again, soon.
The once and future banners, if you will.

Maybe they fell so quickly as a method to tell a dumb, low intelligent demographic that this guy is powerful. You need to get the dumb low intelligent demographic to get past the 550 million mark

It's more like the old japanese films where 50 people rush the one (usually the hero) but the one always wins. GL said he was influence by them.

It was a really cool scene in the novel. Unfortunately, I tend to agree with Trilogist and that GL simply wanted to get to the real fight between Mace and Sidious.
That's a shame because why bother with showing all four with their sabers ignited if they're gonna be relugated to such awful looking deaths?
Part of me wants to blame poor fight cheorography, but Nick Gillard did a kickass job with other fight sequences. Perhaps they simply ran out of time in the shooting schedule? I dunno.

Why is simple. They all have to die by the end of the film so Palpatine has to been shown as very powerful and destroy 4 Jedi Masters. They have to show how blinded to the dark side they have become.
Therefore no fight and a quick death. This way many jedi can be shown dying in the space of the film.

That's all well and good and the point of them dying quickly has never been brought into question. Rather, it's the lameness of the actual scene when they are killed that is questioned. The first two were pretty much stationary objects when Palpatine jumped over there and slowly stabbed them. It was a bit embarrasing to watch considering how kickass some of the previous saber battles had been in the saga. Hell, even the Vader/Obi-Wan duel in ANH was better choreographed.
Like I previously said, the way it's presented in the novel is terrific and it wasn't a timeconsuming affair either. If that was translated to the film, it would've worked and taken no more screentime.

They were blinded by the dark side and didn't sense Palpatine's moves, that is why they fought lame.
Yes the scene is lame but it is GL's vision for them. Nearly all the jedi's death in this film are poor for their abilities.
I have read the novel but sometimes actions take longer than the words. Novels are always better as you can let your own imagination picture the battle. Words have to be expressive or you would get bored and not read it. Alot of films are developed from novella as oppose to novels because of the amount of words. Ones that are developed from novels usually have great chunks of story missing to make the films of a normal length. Even Lord of the Rings extended version trilogy is greatly diminished to the novels.
GL spent 12 mins on the Obi Wan and Anakin / Yoda and Palpatine fights so all other lightsabers fights had to be short. It was to make these fights more dramatic and show how much better this group was with the force.
