I quite like Darth Taral, but bearing in mind I'm only on Cloak of Deception in terms of EU reading, I have a long way to go before I get to OT characters' kids, so I don't know if any of the others might be more applicable for Jacen Solo! :bye:

I said them aloud so I'll have to go with a pass.

This has been put into poll form, by the way, for any who weiged in before that happened.
Thanks, mod!

I prefer Darth Caedus, personally. Though, as I haven't been following Jacen Solo's story, I might not have the right to vote.

I agree. That's the name which sound the best. Darth Acheron sounded too obvious IMHO and I wasn't too keen on the other names.

Wow, all those names are pretty bad but since I have to choose, i'll go with Darth Caedus.

Except it's Paxis, no R.

Jacen Solo is a Sith Lord?? Doesn't that negate all the other books where he was the hero?
DarthSolo
01-25-2007, 01:52 AM
He's on the way. And we don't know the outcome of the series, so we don't know if he'll completely fall or if he'll be redeemed. As well, there is reason to believe (though I don't) that Jacen's fall was in mind even when writing his hero times.

Gosh, I agree with almost everybody, Darth Caedus sounds the best. Now, the only totally-not-messed-up Solo kid is Jaina, what are the authors cooking up for her?

I do not like any of those names.

I don't know any of this story, but the title of the thread caught my eye.
Aren't Sith names supposed to mean something bad? Maybe some of those words do, but I sure as hell don't know what they mean. Anyone else?

Acheron means "River of Woe" which is why it got my vote. I assume Paxis is supposed to be close to "Praxis", which is obvious. Judicar, I'm assuming, has somethign to do with adjudication or judgement. Taral, I looked up and it could have something to do with...regions in the Indian sub-continent... And I think Caedus had connections to Greek mythology, but i don't remember what.

Well, I had to look up 'praxis' so it wasn't obvious to me, but thanks for assuming I'm smart. Anyway, this is the definition I got:
1 : ACTION (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/action), PRACTICE (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/practice): as a : exercise or practice of an art, science, or skill b : customary practice or conduct
2 : practical application of a theory
I suppose if it's in relation to Sith stuff, it makes a little bit of sense, but it's still lame. Overall, the 'hidden' meanings of those names are all too obscure.
I like it to be a teeny bit obscure, but don't overdo it.

I voted with Taral because of the meaning on the website which meant ancient Sith for "he who protects" and he does believe he is doing it to protect.
The other options meanings (from the website) are: Acheron (a river in Hell for those who deny justice), Caedus (a battle of darkness), Judicar (the final judge), Paxis (bringer of peace)

Where'd you find that? Did I just not read thoroughly enough?

Doh. Mine wasn't picked. Though maybe that's for the better since I haven't actually read up to that point in the EU.
Darth Caedus is the only one that stands out to me. With enough time, I think it could become quite natural and accepted.

When i first hear Darth Judicar i think "judas" as in betrayal. Anyways, im going with the majority and picking Caedus.

It is near the bottom of the voting page but before the voting. I was finding it hard to make a decision until I finally read that paragraph.

After reading the first 2 books and going into the 3rd, it has to be Taral. I am not going by what sounds cool crap.
Miasmo
01-29-2007, 06:37 PM
I wouldn't exactly call the approach crap. I mean, what if Darth Vader was instead, oh I dunno, Darth Biddikins. Doesn't sound as cool does it? But what if it meant "tyrant, betrayer, evil"?
It's nice to have equal parts meaning and ... lingual appeal, but if one has to win out in a story, I think it should be something you don't mind looking at over and over.
EDIT: Hm... The more I look at that list, the more natural Judicar sounds. Maybe I should have held off my vote.

I voted for Acheron cause of the whole Hades thingy.

Acheron, it has a nice ring to it
Darth Massacrus
02-04-2007, 01:47 PM
damn, THOSE are the choices??? Frankly, I thought, in all seriousness, something like Darth Massacrus would be a good name for him. Or maybe Darth Renege, or Darth Casta, or Darth Trayus. Oh well, so much for that.
Cydon

well, Jacen does betray his Jedi teaching, as well as his family, along with Ben, Nelani Dinn, and Sith Lord knows who and what else he'll betray. Besides, there must always be a Darth Trayus....:innocent:

Yes I agree. It fits the current story in the Legacy of the Force and his thoughts in these books.

I'm really liking Judicar the most now. Earlier, when I voted in here for Caedus, it completely slipped my mind to officially vote. So I just did. And I instead voted for Judicar since it has really grown on me. I thought it sounded weird at first, but now it sounds pretty good.

From the update at the voting site:
The voting phase is now complete. To find out which of the five candidates -- Darth Acheron, Darth Caedus, Darth Judicar, Darth Paxis or Darth Taral -- has been selected as Jacen's Sith name, you'll have to pick up Sacrifice, the fifth book in the Legacy of the Force series, when it comes out this May.
Looks like we have to wait until May.
