I have searched but cannot find a thread in relation to this ebook. I have just read it and wondered what others thought of this?

My opinion is that it is little more than an early scene setter. We don't find out about Maul's origins, or how he came to serve Sidious, nor do we find out too much about how he thinks or fights. I thought that the sabotage was well written and believable but it didn't really add much to the Saga.

I would be interested to see if there is anything I missed in reading it and hearing other criticisms of the novella itself, but I would be grateful if no-one would spoil by using any information in the later books, which I am about to start reading.

I actually enjoyed it. Though Shadow Hunter was a better.

*BUMP!* What did anyone else think of this novella? Good points / bits you thought could have been better? Someone must have an opinion on it?!

I don't want to have to pretend to EU bash just to get some other points of view.

I read it in its inclusion at the end of shadow hunter the novel, I have to say it was pretty good, it doesn't reveal much info but you learn about maul's persona and how cunning he is.

It was alright. I enjoyed it, though it was nothing special. Same with Shadow Hunter. It was fun to get inside Maul's head. But the other characters didn't really grab me at all.

That's cool then. I'm glad that no-one has really raved about it. As I have just started my journey into the EU, I was a bit disappointed by this offering. I am about to start Cloak of Deception and then read through the timeline from there (though I have already read ROTS and Rise of Vader) so I am hoping that most of the books will be more enjoyable.
