Hi,

I thought instead of starting a new thread everytime a book comes out we could have a General NJO spoiler thread..(Mods, if i'm out of my bounds in this you can lock it or do whatever)...

Guidlines: (if all agree with me)
This will be a spoiler page to discuss all the NJO books as they come out and are read..

Right now the current book is Traitor :)and i'll add a new post before i start talking about it..

ok..i'm not done yet..
but i have lots and lots of questions..hopefully i'll be done tomorrow so i can say more..

i have never taken so long to read a SW book...

i've had to go back and reread passages..i'm sure i understand Veregre's outlook on the Force..

and i'm not sure how its going to end (i'm nearly there)

but i'm disturbed..very very disturbed..

but I love the book...it reads like Socrates' Cafe--lots of questions and talking back and forth..lots of revaluation of Jacen's Life, and lots and lots of well...interesting answers...

which are so far mostly questions...

So far the main question is this:
1. Is the one page with Jaina text from Dark Journey? can we assume its during that period? b/c she seems really angry still..and i don't remember Ganner existing during Rebel Dream and Rebel Stand..

OHHH hey i don't think anyone has talked about those here yet either (awesome books)

ok that's it for now..the more harder one's i'll ask once i finish and reread

Whew! Just finished it in the Slug lines on the way home from Work in DC..

Phenominal..(spelling?)
I'm starting to see what separates the good NJO books from the bad..there are the ones that have too much jumping around and are filler paperbacks..or there are pb like this one that are full of strange ideas, and new beliefs...

I wasn't sure at first if i liked it or not.mainly b/c of the philisophical basis for it..but there are many messages that i got out of it...

To Start: Specifically (Spoiler Beware)

"If the Force is life, how can there be life without the Force."

"Everything I tell you is a lie"
---Which i must say (along with her definition of the Force..there is no light/Dark just yourself..just the Force) sounds a little like the end of the Jedi Code...just interpreted differentyly..

oh and "Everything I tell you is a lie." also is a parallel of (IMHO) Everything depends on your own point of view..
i know i'm massacring classic quotes! but its hot outside..and i'm sooo excited about this book..

---The Shadowmoth Analogy and his acceptance of the Embrace of Pain..

--Choose, the idea that you must decide and not bump between indecision..

This novel was just soooo different...and i was glad to see that Jacen finally used his Animal insticts (as in work with animals)to do something..to get past the dwadling

hmm the section about fanaticism..very very interesting..judging from present dayevents..

ok not really coherant..but i really want to start up a dialouge about this book..its just sooo full of philosphical ideas..

style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
So as soon as anyone finishes let me know!
Sorry that none of that sounds coherant..but I do believe this sets a very interesting stage for November and Destiny's Way..

Edits..trying to make it more coherant

Tratior was a great book IMO and like it was said before it was very Philosofical (spelling), but that was ok cause it did not drown you in talk it had movement and it worked through a plot and story it also brings Jacson back the the NR so I can't wait for DW (isn't it going to be hardback), anway it was a great book i recomend reading it. Also i thin Jasons goin to bring some intresing questions to lukes mind. and second the big "crator" or what ever that Jason and Vergie were in after the excape from the seedship the one that was full of the darkside was that the same as the big explotion from reble stand when luke and everybody fought Lord Nyax. any way one last point, the cover to Tratior and Dark Journey is it just me or do they look very simalar.

P.S. sorry for the bad spelling.

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE SPOIL TRAITOR FOR ME, PLEASE!

jade51999
08-01-2002, 11:18 AM
LOL like completely?

Ok..the long and the *short of it is this..

SPOILAGE MAJORO!!

its a book that's really hard ot give a plot summary for..i'll try and work on it..but if people just add stuff it'll be good..

Essentially, Jacen is being held in secret by Veregre, Nom Anor, and Tsvong Lah b/c they're (mainly NA and TL) are trying to convert him to the True Way.

The book starts with him hanging in the Embrace of pain..in limbo.and somehow everyone thinks he's dead b/c Veregre has cut him off from the Force ..and essentially he's dead..

she starts out by teaching him to accept the pain, because the more he struggles against it the more pain he will have...
The shadowmoth story in the excerpt comes in here...Essentially she is trying to protect him from other events...

After the Embrace of Pain..ok this is really hard to do..can anyone do a better job? b/c i've only read it once..and its a very difficult book to spoil..alot of the tone is a dialouge based interaction..so unless you read it..the shifts and stuff are very hard to get across..style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

in basic plot summary form..Veregre teaches Jacen that he has to basically let go of his preconcieved ideas and after being in the Embrace of Pain he is moved to a place called The Nursery above a Coruscant that has been moved with dorsal basins closer to its sun..(therefore climate and etc. has changed)

At The Nursery, Jacen becomes a "Gardener" where he has to choose once again who he can help and who he can't..and here is basically a breeding ground for world seeds..(organic matters that become part of a world) the Vong are changing Coruscant to become one of their homeworlds..

this is where Veregre asks him to solve the mystery of how there can be life without the force, if the force is life..

Jacen realizes that the 'vong just don't exist in the Force as he and the Jedi know it..which is why Anakin could sense the Lambet, i.e. he learned how to see the Vong' force...using his talents of talking to animals and other sentinant no basic speaking organizims he befriends one of the planet minds (the culture is during a ceremony one of the planet minds dhorydums(Sp?) will kill all the others...

using the dhorydum Jacen is able to take over the Nursery..but he looses its faith when he tries to kill it (he is stopped by Veregre who knows that if Jacen kills the Dhorydum everyone on the seed ship will die)....At this point she nocks him unconcious..

~~next part of the book is on Coruscant..now Y'zantar (longer name i just don't have the time to look it up in the book)
This is probably the most shocking part of the book..as here Veregre tells Jacen that the greatest secret of the jedi was that there was no Darkside...

on the darkness within each person..she explains this part in a way that i have to go back and read it...b/c i'm not sure..but here is also where JAcen explains that Anakin was a lord of the sith..the last one

and Veregre says "What a waste"....its an interesting dialouge that i would have wanted more of..

Jacen basically runs all over the underlevels of Coruscant trying to get away from Nom Anor who is chasing him (Veregre is really messing with Nom Anor's head in the long run)

and is recaptured..here a bunch of stuff happens, where he thinks hes' fallen to the dark side..but it complicated..but essentailly he pretends he has chosen the true way...

ohhh so the whle point of all this was to Change Jacen so he could lure Jaina and perform the great sacrafice of the Vong..the whole twin thing
~~~enter Ganner Rhysode
Ganner has been hearing Rumors about JAcen so he wanders aboard one of those Vonb refugee ships (that shoot out frozen refugees at planets)
there are some interesting sections here about what he thought about himself as being the hero, and Jacen/Jaina/Anakin and preconditions and how others saw them as hope..he thinks the need to find Jacen will bring hope..
he talks to Jaina who says that she would know before anyone..and that if he breathes a word to Leia about this she'll kill him ...b/c Leia would break..
so he's on the ship and goes to look for Jacen, he finds him..and thinks that Jacen is traitor..Jacen gives him Anakins blade, and tells him that he is JAcens key to get inside the Well of the World mind where the Durydam now matured, is lying..as it builds the 'vong world...all he needs is ten minutes..
he tells Nom Anor that he needs to practice the Great Sacrafice..and this is the best way..
tehre's a great fight with Ganner blocking warriors fromstopping Jacen once they realize whats going on (they think he's going to kill the mind) but he really reconnects with his friend (the animal ability) and makes it so nothing goes juuust right with this world..theDhurydum does him a favor and promises to mess with the Vong's mind..
this is the section on fanaticism which i can't describe here..it should be read...
Veregre meanwhile betrays Nom Anor and gives JAcen back his blade...and they blast off in the ship
oh yea Ganner dies..but in this extremely amazing battle where he does really good things..its really complicated..(someone else may be able to do a better job)
ok the end of major spoilage..
the book ends with jacen flying away with Veregre headed to a universe that is full of weeds..style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif the whole Gardener thing choosing and decideing what he can do..and not wasting time on things he can't...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~That wasn't a really good job..sorry!

Traitor is THE best NJO book so far. It's Dark, unsettling, thought provoking, disturbing, and manges to further it's characters while telling a very tight story that is MEANINGFULL.

To many of the recent NJO books have been pointless filler, and the story suffers because of it. You could realistically go from (the excellent) Star by Star to this book and not really miss anything of import. Dark Journey was a wasted opportunity, and in the end just made me hate Jania.

As much as I love Alliston his books just didn't do much to further the story either. I felt he was hamstrung in what he could do and was stuck telling a story that was just a way to show old friends and add humor where he could. Lets face it, Lord Nyax was a truly abysmal creation.

Hopefully we'll get more authors that can tell stories like Traitor and Star by Star.

Viva La'EU! :look:

<span style="color:c1007e"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms">Hey there Jade!!!! Yep I have to agree with Moo the book is awesome.

If you think about it, Vergere and Yoda have a similar interpretation of the force. I mean think about what Yoda tells Luke before he goes into the cave. When Luke asks him what he will find in there, Yoda responds 'only what you take with you'

Suggesting that the darkside manifestations ie Vader attacking him. Where of Lukes own making. He made the dark visions not the darkside. The darkside didn't exist, just Luke's on fears.

And Vergere tells us, that the Force is not dark and light, just the force. And that the dark and light elements percieved are those of the individual.

I think if you look at it, Yoda was telling Luke the same thing Vergere was telling Jacen.</span></span>

Except Luke didn't realize it. He only knew that his purpose was to be the instrument of destruction for the Dark Lords of the Sith. He didn't know that Yoda was opening him to a new level of understanding because that wasn't what he needed to learn at that point.

Maybe it will be easier for Luke to accept this new point of view than I originally thought. Good theory!

First off that link I posted is fixed now.

Second:

I finished Traitor about 4 a.m. last night, and it is the greatest piece of EU since the Thrawn trilogy.

Vergere's reasoning of the Force makes so much more sense than many other explanations that have been given in the past, I just wish she hadn't called it the "dark secret of the Jedi", and just made it her own discovery.

Perfect blend of action and discussion, if you haven't read it, read it!

ok i'm gonna repost some thoughts in Chrono's Traitor thread style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

but still post here!

Kit Fisto

Well I just wrote a bunch in Chrono's Traitor thread, but I have more to add so I'll do it here.

It seems to fit the conversation here better.

Two Points:

1. Something that concerned me was Jacen's inability to force-lightening the Vong. I really have to wonder if this is an author's mistake. After all, Jania blasting lighting straight through a Vong was one of the most powerful moments in Star by Star (If not the NJO). Her doing that caught me so off guard, and I love the way it was written. Now to have Stover say the Lightening goes around them... hmm.. dubious at best....

2. As far as where this falls in the timeline, I was trying to figure that out all along. When they describe Coruscant it sounds more overgrown than it was in Rebel Stand, but then that could just be a difference in author description. Also in Rebel stand it was somewhat overgrown, so the question is, did any of this happen before the seedship landed and the world brain was put in. Then of course, Jacen comes upon the Force Wellspring... So we know this part is occuring after Luke's visit to Coruscant.

Jania's appearance was WAY too angry. Perhaps if this was during Dark Journey, or right after, it would be one thing. But while Traitor starts at the same time as Dark Journey, by the time Jania makes her appearance, Jacen has started rumors of his being alive, and this puts them well after Luke left Coruscant and Jania should be much more mellow. Ganner was, btw, mentioned very breifly in Rebel Stand, when it describes what differnt Jedi in differnt places felt when the Wellspring was opened.

So the timeing is clear, but Jania is way out of line. Oh well.

Any thoughts on these two points?

jade51999
08-05-2002, 05:51 PM
I thought about that..
and it seems that it may work out..
b/c 1. she was doing her whole isolation thing from the rest of the world as yun harla

and she was reacting to what her mother would feel if the rumors got to her..and how she didn't want her mother hurt..

so in that case it may work out

I haven't finished this book, yet. I don't know that I like the books on idividuals. I never got into Dark Journey and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get into Traitor. The books centering on Han weren't my favorites, either. I like the books with the different points of view of the action and people on different missions coming together at the end of the book.

Just my opinion. But, I HAVE read farther into Traitor than I did Dark Journey.

I think there is supposed to be another e-book coming out, too...

Any one besides me think that the camp ships sound more like something the Yuuzhan Vong would use, rather than the New Republic? *

I'm not quite done with the book, either. *It's a very difficult read for me. *I'm not sure I like some of the philosophy stuff they've been talking about. *

Kit - I had read the conversation between Jaina and Ganner as a flashback to Dark Journey. *Unless there's another place where Jaina is mentioned that I haven't read yet. *I think they were trying to get across that Ganner's been following this rumor for a very long time. *I don't remember exactly, but when Ganner's mentioned in Rebel Stand, I don't think they said specifically where he was at the time. *Or did they? *And did they say specifically that Jacen started the rumors that he was alive? *It's an honest question. *Like I said, I haven't finished the book.

hello all! jade, thank you for starting this thread. i started one at swmovies.net, but noones really posted on it.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! by far the best of the NJO so far. i never compared yoda to veregre, but now that its mentioned.... the implications of what jacen can now teach luke is amazing. i wonder if he can accept it?

as far as jacens force lightning avoiding the vong, i think that goes along the line of the force taking direction from the heart. jacen wanted to strike them all down, but deep inside he abhors killing and i think the force read that and thats why it struck the walls and buried them instead. cause nom anor stated that they were alive beneath the rubble. so technically jacen did not kil them, just restrained them and they died on their own. kind of a stretch, but feasible.

i love the direction the story is taking, and look forward to more. unfortunately ,the series has 19 total books and will be over by the end of next year :tears:

any idea what will become of our heroes after this?

D'oh, what you said about Jacen teaching Luke, I don't think it'll happen that way. I think Jacen may end up the outcast of the Jedi, like Kyp was for the five years after the Sun Crusher incident.

The cover FH is very cool, I like that Luke is also holding a blaster with his lightsaber, very cool. And did anyone notice Mara is motion blurred?

jade51999
08-12-2002, 11:03 AM
yea, it looked really good..

oh i believe the camp ships are Yuzzahn Vong, they are those ships that shoot out refugees who are frozen from coruscant...
i'm also curious about the Force Heretic title..

It sounds like it may be a consequence of Jacen's change...maybe?

and whatever happens in Destiny;s way i suppose.

The image looks really good, and it looks good to see Luke/Mara in fighting form....

I just had a thought we should probably have a rule on spoilers of books that havn't come out yet...b/c i know i started the thread to talk about NJO books as they come out...

my vote is that we talk about stuff that has been released..
i.e. since Traitor has been out for a while we can talk about Traitor..

and since the blurb/excerpt of Destiny's Way has been out we can talk about that..

and now the cover of FH is out so that works..but if its like inside info or you somehow found something out...i guess warn us if you're gonna post it..style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

The only problem with the Ganner/Jania scene being at the time of Dark Journey is that Jacen did, in fact, start the rumors about himself and this occured after he found the force wellspring, which was opened by Nyax in Rebel Stand, well after the events of DJ....

Oh well, I guess it was just a bad day for Jania!

jade51999
08-13-2002, 10:17 AM
i also think it may have been later b/c Jaina was worried about Leia's thoughts..which makes me think it takes place after Rebel Dream where Leia and her make up...

When does Destiny's Way come out?

on bn.com it says September 28

on Borders.com and booksamillion.com it says October

Del Rey's site says october (so is it early or late october?)

then the TF.N site and J.Net Lit both say November early?

hi-ho handothrawn! maybe jacen wont teach luke, but i dont see him becoming outcast only because his is the only way to sense the vong presence outside of looking for empty spots. surely that could prove to be helpful and luke would recognize that?

I found a little FH snippet, and its about Luke and an anti-hero he meets in cohesion with, or taken prisoner by the Vong.

Now I'm thinking Boba Fett, or Dash Rendar, or Admiral Daala but i could be way off.

Boba Fett, he's confirmed by Shelly Shapiro, so he's a good bet.

Dash Rendar, anti-hero? Yes, and he didn't die at the Empire vs. Rogue Squadron vs. Xizor's Skyhook Battle, not a catchy name is it?

Daala, she's just so cool.

jade51999
08-21-2002, 12:11 PM
Daala annoyed me!

but yea..whoever the anti-hero is he/she definitly has to be someone who will change things for the better...

maybe its the world brain? nah--

i read that snippit..apparently TF.N has some added stuff on DW summary i'll see if i can find it if not..go and check it out on their lit page..

The only bookstore here that sells SW books finally got "Traitor" today, so I bought it (I have been going there every day now for three weeks, the people that work there must think I'm crazy), and I'm two thirds through the book now. The book has been amazing so far and I totally agree with the entire "there is no dark side" theory, and I hope this will create a completly new brand of Jedi 'cause the ones from the prequel era... well they stink! they don't have any character like the New Jedi have.

Anway, I'm going to finish Traitor now and I'll post my comments and finally get into the entire "Traitor" discussion (I hate spoilers) .

Whuffa
08-22-2002, 06:40 AM
I finished Traitor yesterday. Wow. *:0 *This is the best Star Wars books ever !!! I have been waiting for a book revolving about one character forever, and to get it this good, this deep... It's just amazing. Stover's style is really flowing and nice to read and the characterizations are very real and believable. The conversations Vergere and Jacen have are enigmatic and at the same time very true (I think I'm going to start talking like that from now on). I don't know how the others will accept this new view on the Force, but since the last HC is called "The Unifying Force", they'll probably accept the belief that everything is one and it will assure a victory.
The only problem is that now the new books will seem bad if they're not written as amazing as Traitor is!
I mean, 20 min. after I read Traitor I read the expert from Destiny's Way and it was... horrible. We have Han and Leia transporting a stereotypical Imperial, and they're acting as if the Galactic Civil War is till going on. The characterizations are way off and Leia is using frazes like : "Is Threepio providing sufficient refreshment", Han is using frazes like :"Attack my galaxy, will you?", and the author is using frazes like : "Leia's voice snapped like a whip". Come on. There was so much stuff that was dreadfully wrong in this 14 page expert that now I'm actually afraid of Destiny's Way.

Oh and since when is the Falcon a YU-1300?

He and a team of Jedi (Jacen, Jaina, Tenel Ka, Lowie, Tahiri and others) are sent there to destory a voxny queen (it's a Vong-creature that hunts and kills Jedi), and after a lot of fighting, Anakin sacrifices himself so they can complete the mission and escape. That's basicaly it, but there are a lot of side-plots revolving around the entire mission.

Yup that's basically it in a nutshellf if you want specifics..

he sacrafices himself so that the rest of the team can get on a ship and blast of myrkr..

I agree with you about most of the stuff in that excerpt. *But come on, Whuffa! *You have to agree that Han's little dialogue that the Empire would have just built a super weapon called the Galaxy Destroyer, or Palpatines Nostril *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif *and that the engineers would have left some access hatch open so that some hot shot enemy pilot would just fly in an blow it up was pretty funny! :roll:

Ok that was really funny, and I shouldn't judge a book by its
excerpt, we'll just have to wait and see! :)

By the way, I think it also said that Han took out the metal from the Food unit. Another SbS timeline anyone? ;)

I'd have to agree with Luvinna on her point of the flashback. * The emotion that comes from Jaina's comment to Ganner is quite possibly right after they landed on Hapes, and presented Anakin's body to Leia. *That would be an emotional time, and I would not find it surprising for Jaina to unleash her emotion on the nearest target of opportunity (Ganner.) *

I also see Vergere's interpretation of the Force as kind of a parallel to the Aing-Tii monks of the Kathol Rift, in Zahn's Hand of Thrawn duology. *While she does not affirm the "rainbow myriad" of the Force, she does dispell the myth of a light side and dark side. *Her comments about freedom being frightening and unsure I believe are in fact her approval of the plight of the New Republic, not in the recent invasion years, but in the rise of the Republic, with Mon Mothma and Leia, and casts a shadow over the totalitarian Yuuzhan Vong and their religious fanaticism. *

I find it interesting that at the end of the book, two excerpts leave the biggest questions, for me at least:
1. None shall pass. *In Basic. *Is this a result of Jacen's collusion with the Dhuryam? *Or is it more a result of foreshadowing the end of the arc, especially with the final title being "The Unifying Force"?
2. Jacen refers to sides, but indicates that he and Vergere (and the Dhuryam) are not on the Vong or Republic side. *Is this a jump to possibly make him a candidate for Wedge's Insiders? *Or is it along that parallel, but still reactive against involvement through fighting?

Well, Ijust got to thinking, with all the people wanting Anakin to return, well what bif he did? But not Anakin Solo, but Anakin Skywalker, no, don't hit the back button just yet. In Truce at Bakura Anakin says to Leia that he'll always be listeneing, or something to that extent. See where this is going?

And if Anakin Solo was to return, he'd need a body, right? And people say Tarc looks alot like Anakin, right? And remember Cray Mingla and Callista? See where this is going?

Or I could just be thinking to much.

No, Anakin's death is final. I think DelRey said that they killed him 'cause they didn't want people to confuse him with Anakin Skywalker, so it wouldn't make sense for them to bring him back to life.
And Anakin Skywalker coming back? Hmmmm, maybe just as a spirit, to give Luke and Leia some very important advice and then to disappear forever like Obi-Wan did in HTTE.

Well, IMO, Anakin (Solo) is not really dead. *I have my reasons (which I'm not going to list unless someone wants me to), and Traitor just gave me another one. *

And I don't think it was that confusing having two Anakins. *It's only confusing when people like us start talking about them in message boards and forget to specify which one we're talking about. * style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif *

Anakin (Solo) taking over Tarc's body? *Oh, please no!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif * That whole taking over Cray's body thing was what got me disliking Callista in the first place (I had no problems with her up until then - other than the fact that she wasn't Mara). *

Dave_R - Rebel Dream is before Traitor. *It's also before Rebel Stand. *The order for the paperbacks this last year goes: Dark Journey, Rebel Dream, Rebel Stand, Traitor.

I think Anakin (Solo) is def. dead, not for the "Real Life" reasons that Del Rey gave..but for the fact that A. his body well was creameated, and B. Jaina and JAcen, and Leia and Luke/mara etc. all FELT his death..i mean with JAcen they did but Leia KNEW he wasn't dead b/c she knew what it felt like to have a son Die....

as for Anakin (Skywalker) coming back..its possible...but i can'ts ee that happening anytime soon.

Jade, no offense meant, but you mean you buy that stuff about “the instant the flame touched his body, it disappeared”? *If that works for you, great, it was just too weird for me. *That is something we’ve NEVER seen before, even in any of the books (that I recall).

Gen. Antilles - You want ‘em? *You got ‘em:

- *Any theory you've heard as to why Jedi do or do not disappear when they die, forget it. *It wouldn't matter in this case. *If Anakin had died the way they said he did, I do not believe there would be a body left. *These quotes come straight from the book: *Anakin describes that he could feel "his cells begin to burn and burst", the Force "saturating him and devouring him", "the glow of his cells burning out", "His cells were burning like fire", "The energy was burning its way out of him, consuming a vessel too weakened to contain it", "his cells rupturing in chain reactions, the cycles coming faster and faster as less of him remained to contain the energy." *Now, reason with me that if beings are made up of cells, (blood cells, skin cells, organ cells, etc) and if his cells were burning and rupturing, then his cells were ceasing to exist, therefore, his body would cease to exist. When it said Anakin was gone, I was thinking GONE. *Like Obi-Wan was gone, and Yoda was gone. *I was completely convinced that Anakin was dead, until they went back for his body. *

- *And while we’re on his body, Jacen says in Traitor that he saw the Yuuzhan Vong with Anakin’s body. *Wait! *I thought the other Jedi took it with them. * style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/scratchchin.gif

- *The fact that everyone seemed to sense his death through the Force doesn't matter. *It's happened *before. *In Courtship of Princess Leia. *When Gethzerion attacks Luke, and he's thinking he's dead, until all the things of nature start giving him their life force. *Leia tells Han that she can't feel him. *"He's not here anymore," she says. *She thought he was dead. *Plus, they all “sensed” Jacen’s death, too. *And we know he’s not dead. * And if Leia could say that Jacen was still alive, then I can say that Anakin is still alive. * *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif * Hmm… Okay, maybe I can’t use that last excuse. * style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif

- *This one comes from the Star Wars Insider. In the "From the Editor's Desk" column in an issue where they do a “Who’s who in the New Jedi Order”, the editor TELLS us to read between the lines. *"If you're very clever (and we know you are), you might even read between the lines for a glimpse into future events." *Here's my reading between the lines: *In this article, they give a short bio on all the Jedi that have been mentioned in the NJO so far (including the deceased ones). *In every single bio that Anakin is mentioned, it's in the past tense, except Tahiri's bio. *In Tahiri's bio, it's present tense, like he's still alive. *

- *For those of you who haven’t noticed yet, they hint like crazy in this series. *Before anything major happens, they have to drop about a dozen hints that it’s going to happen (with the exception of Chewbacca). *All through the series, up to and including Star By Star, they’ve been hinting about Anakin’s potential. *Saying he’s going to be the next Luke Skywalker, and the most powerful Jedi of his generation, etc. *They drop all those hints, and then they kill him? *I don’t think so. * *

So, here’s my theory: *Anakin is still alive and the Yuuzhan Vong managed to switch his real body with that of a doppelganger (look alike). *Maybe they’re trying to convert him like they did Jacen, I don’t know. *But eventually, he’s going to get a way and get back to the Jedi, too. *It may just be wishful thinking, but there is a book coming up called Reunion. *

Yeah, this is probably my subconscious’s way of dealing with my denial, but I don't care! *It keeps me happy. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/alien.gif

true that,

I can understand your reasons..but i think i do really feel that i'm getting my hopes up...mainly b/c we know Chewie is dead for real (now please someone don't tell me i'm wrong about that one!)

and no offense taken, but generally when i read something..i'll take it as true..i didn't read the funeral part all that closely..

correction the funeral wasn't written all that well b/c it was from jaina's point of view..so i'm not 100% clear on what went on..so its possible that its not believable..

but IMHO (opinons ! yea!) he's gone..but if i'm proven wrong..i'll be a very happy person..

but i do think that jacen's manifestation/change is a step in the right direction for the jedi...(i mean the former jedi style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif) he needed a kick in the butt...

and he's alreayd had a few taps...(BP etc.)

anywhoo..interesting theory Luvinnia..

I have an idea (imagine ! ) * style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/scratchchin.gif
We can all write down a list of NJO novels, starting with our favourite and ending with our least favourite. Then we'll see which novels are the most popular, and which ones are the least popular.

Here Goes:

1. Traitor (loooooved it, it was so eye-opening * *:loveyes: *)
2. Star by Star (major events handled extremly well)
3. Onslaught (Stackpole at his best)
4. Rebel Dream (Aalston at his best)
5. Vector Prime (great introduction to the series+nicely done death, what can go wrong? *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif *)
6. Balance Point (This novel was nothing special, but it was flawless. It was like a candy that you've already tasted, but it's so good that you love it every time you taste it again , even tough it's nothing new :dunce: *)
7. Conquest (I really started liking Anakin after this one, I think that's what they wanted to accomplish before SbS)
8. Dark Journey (the characterizations were all very good, that's Cunningham strong side)
9. Hero's Trial (I don't really remember what this one was about ,only that it was a so-so)
10. Rebel Stand (I hated the Lord Nyax storyline, that's why It's so low on my list. Everything else was great tough)
11. Ruin (Something went wrong here, I just can't place my finger on it)
12. Rebirth (some storylines were totaly redundant, and the author didn't handle juggling them very well either. Also, why did they bring back Mara's illness only to make it magicaly dissapear?)
13. Jedi Eclipse (I don't remember almost anything form this one)

So you see I don't really care for Luceno's writing much, that's why I'm worried about him doing HC5. *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unhappy.gif

But Cloak of Deception was very good, so we'll have to wait and see.

Now start voting people!!!

General Antilles

1. Star by Star.......great storyline, plus just something about Fey'lya becoming a martyr made me misty
2. Traitor......awesome philosophical addition
3. Conquest.......I think that if Anakin had not discovered what he did, then Jacen would have to had worked a little harder for his revelation
4. Hero's Trial.........About time Han got up off his duff
5. Balance Point.....Introduction of Warmaster Tsavong Lah....ooh, eerie....
6. Ruin........It was a good book, too bad Corran got a bad wrap
7. Dark Journey......I was disappointed by Jaina's selfishness, but the knowledge of the Vong in this book made it worthwhile
8. Rebel Dream.......Aaron Allston....need I say more?
9. Rebel Stand.......see above
10. Vector Prime........::sigh:: Chewie's gone....
11. Jedi Eclipse.......Not much too it, but you gotta love Droma
12. Onslaught.........Heh, I found it a little sappy, but loved it nontheless
13. Rebirth........Hm, a little too much going on, but still good to see Mara finally better

Note: *I love every single one of the NJO books, so really, the list above is more of a ranking of which ones I'll read over and over, and how often

I'd just like to say that, according to a Del Rey editor, who specifically works for the Star Wars lisence, and who posts on the starwars.com Community Forums, the information which has been speculated upon about the Force Heretic series (including the returns of Dash Rendar, Boba Fett, and the ghosts of Ani, Qui-Gon, Yoda and Ani Solo) is NOT TRUE.

She is 99% sure that the information which had been posted in the Force Heretic thread is, in fact, flase. I just wanted to point that out. This basically means that we will not see Anakin Solo again, and that the appearances of Dash and Boba are highly unlikely.

I'd also like to point out one little thing: a lot of people have taken that quote from Celebration II about Boba Fett and the NJO waaaaay out of proportion, IMHO. The quote said that there was a possibility he might show up. I take that as meaning, it's up to the authors to decide. Everyone's so sure that he's gonna show up again, but nothing has ever been said by anyone that he will for sure, 100% be in the series.

I just needed to vent there. Sorry.

1. Star by Star (including Recovery) --because of the intense emotions it brought out of me
2. Traitor--made me think, and i loved what was done with Jacen's outlook.
3.Rebirth --made me love Anakin and i was soo happy for Luke and Mara in the section where they were able to eradicate the disease once and for all..AND save the child...
4. Balance Point--I found this to really be the beginning of Jacens transformation..I think that his fight here started his path to Veregre where he HAD to make decisions or be killed.
5. Conquest--same reason as three i just like BP more than it...
6. Rebel Dream
7. Rebel Stand --Both very good books, I liked the first one more than the second one mostly b/c of Lord Nyax..but i did enjoy RS for its humor.
8.Vector Prime--Great beginning, but it was the shock value..i was stuck hoping for more, and better times and got more shocked as i went on..its right in the middle b/c i can't say i liked it better than any of the ones before this..i think i'd pick up one of the ones above to reeread before i picked up this one.
9.Dark Tide I Onslaught
10. Dark Tide II Ruin--ok I love Stackpole, his writing was great as always, but there was nothing SUBSTANTIAL..aside from being forced to shunt Corran aside for a good chunk of the series.
11. Dark Journey--ok I can't say that i hated this book b/c i've read worse *cough barbarahambly cough coug* but i guess the reason this book is here instead of lower is b/c of the Jaina Jag stuff (sniff i'm a hopeless romantic)..i also thought that her slide could have been written better..AND i was mad about the whole Tenel Ka and Tenenial Djo issues..COME ON!!!! Isolder still couldn't stand up to mama wah wah! so annoying!...(and i'm hoping for a TK and JS reunion in DW)
12. Hero's Trial
13. Jedi Eclipse
--------ok the fact that they're at the end does not mean i did not appreaciate the writing..but as they were fillers i feel that they lacked the depth of many of the other ppb that came before or after...i love han, but at this point i was like FOR PETE"S SAKE stop wallowing in pity the han solo i know wouldn't do that...

TBD: Yelsia..i've read it finished it..pretty good, but i think its status int he scheme of things will be determined by Destiny's way in a month style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

The following is from TOS (The official site)
First Look :

First Look: Force Heretic I: Remnant
September 11, 2002

As the bloodied and weary galaxy faces battle once more, the Jedi take on the formidable task of bringing the last of the Empire into the light...

In an attempt to contain the Yuuzhan Vong threat once and for all, Luke Skywalker, his wife Mara and Jacen Solo head off into the Unknown Regions to find the secret of Zonama Sekot, a long lost planet that may hold the key to winning the war.

Sheduled for February 2003, New Jedi Order: Remnant is the first softcover in the Force Heretic trilogy by Australian authors Sean Williams and Shane Dix. Remnant features a painted cover by popular Star Wars artist Jon Foster.

In the mean time, the New Jedi Order: Ylesia ebook by Walter Jon Williams is now available for download at major online book retailers. Ylesia is the prelude to the anticipated hardcover novel, Destiny's Way, which arrives in October and is available for pre-order now.

Okay. Now I'm a little more than half way. And it's still driving me crazy with no time to read in the foreseeable future (other than during my lunch break). style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif

Danni is only 3 or 4 years older than Jacen. That's not too bad.

Hmm... I was wondering if Jacen and Tenel Ka would meet up in this book. I guess that answers my question. *sigh*

I do already have some peeves about this book though:

1- What's with Jaina's whole thing about "death is going to catch up with me sooner or later so I'd better not get attached to anyone"? I thought she got over that when she and Leia had that conversation in Rebel Dream. Not to mention the picnic on the roof with Kyp and Jag in Rebel Stand where she was after Kyp for thinking the same thing.

2- Then there's Luke's conversation with Vergere where she says he needs to stop taking responsibility for other people's mistakes. I think Luke over reacted a bit there. I mean, Mara's been telling him that for what ... 8 or 9 years. You'd think he'd be used to it by now. (Not to mention getting it through his thick head.)

I think there was one more, but I can't remember it right now...

jade51999
10-11-2002, 10:47 AM
yea i know that the age thing can work out..i just well i'm partial to Tenel Ka and Jacen..and since Elaine Cunningham made a point for Jaina to mentione TK's love for him when he "died" its a bit sad that there wasn't a touching scene with them..

but then again there wasn't one of Jag and Jaina unless you bought yelsia..so perhaps that wasn't really the point of the book style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif..

First of all, This is not a bad book. If it had been released two years ago, I'd have thought it was awsome. But after Star by Star and especially after Traitor I've come to expect more of the NJO. There were no ground-shattering events here. The first 200 pages are basicly all of Jacen's reunions, retellings of what has happened in the last year with a minor space battle or political race thrown in to spice it up. Then there's the issue of characterizations. While Williams did an excellent job portraying the guys, he totally messed up the girls. Mara is portrayed as a sex-kitten/spy with all of her wit and energy gone, and this is something I'm especially allergic to since she is my favourite character. Jaina has somehow forgotten the change she experienced in the Enemy Lines series and has become once again the depressed teen-soap/sf character from Dark Journey. Leia is as docile as a little puppy and Winter has become Ackbar's nurse. Vergere has transformed from the enigmatic creature in Traitor to a female version of Yoda. Besides the characterizations I also had problems with certian developments : 1) Why did the Twin Suns squadron go to the Ebaq 9 after the battle in the first place? Wouldn't it have been more logical for them to dock on a capital ship? And if they had designed it as a stronghold, then why didn't all of the units which were out of the fight go there? 2)The battle between Jaina and Tsavong Lah (sp?) was just plain... naive. I mean, she was locked to the floor and he was attacking her from behind! Any idiot would have been able to kill her! 3)Why is the Repbulic once more so suspicious and biased of the Empire? I thought they had set that aside in Vision of the Future, and especially in Dark Tide Ruin. 4)What was the pourpose of that last scene? It only led me to believe that Shimmra is an idiot. 5)Why did they kill Vergere? Why???? She was such an interesting character (well, in Traitor at least). This is the first death in the NJO that has really ticked me off.
And last of all, the thing that annoyed me the most is that this book is such a... crowd pleaser. I liked the fact that the NJo killed of major characters and let the bad guys win for a change. And I know that the good guys have to eventually win, but at such a major better, don't you thing it would have been logical if someone important had died. Lowbacca? Tahiri? Ackbar? Ker'fey? Even Jaina?

Well, I finally got that out of my system. What do you guys think?

jade51999
10-15-2002, 02:52 PM
Well..i guess for a series that has been not much of a crowd pleaser..the booster for the good guys was very much something i was looking forward to..

i'm rereading it right now..(a lot more carefully then how i read it before)...

so ill answer respond to Whuffa when i finish (plus i'm starving and i just got out of a car after traveling for 2.5 hours style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif )

Okay, question: Where did click-swoosh come from? As far as I remember, snap-hiss has always been used to denote the sound of a lightsaber igniting. It just doesn't sound the same.

Which brings up another problem I have with this book. You can tell that WJW has never read any EU at all. He said as much in an interview on starwars.com (http://www.starwars.com/eu/feature/20020930/index.html), but it's obvious when you read this book. He doesn't know the terminology that's been created over the last 10+ years and has been using his own. He got a crash course in the EU history, but not in anything else.

Yeah, it is nice to see the good guys winning again. Though I have to agree with Luke when it comes to the Alpha Red project. I still haven't finished the book yet, and I hope they don't use it. IMO, weapons of mass destruction are just a bad thing. No ifs, ands, or buts.

jade51999
10-16-2002, 11:53 AM
Not sure where click-swoosh came from..but yea..the review on J'net is amusing.."pleasently disatissfied" he he he...

ok i'm confused..by my count there were only 4 books left..

the Force Heretic trilogy and the unifying force..

Does anyone know anything about the one that comes out before the Unifying Force? i've heard its by Greg Keyes..but i'm not sure..style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Luvinna.
10-16-2002, 12:08 PM
Well, they way I see it, since it's still listed as "Untitled by Greg Keyes", I'm guessing it's been scraped considering it's supposed to come out in less than a year. All the other titles were announced at least a year before the book was released. So in other words, I know nothing.

cmulligan01
10-16-2002, 01:42 PM
I don't think because a title hasn't been made public that it's been cancelled. I think given the position of the book that when it was assigned the editors felt it was very much needed. Also a title could have been chosen months ago but nobody has made it pubic yet or the title's on it's 5th iteration.

I like the fact that Keys is writing the unititled book cause I really liked Conquest. I wonder what that book will be about. But I don't like the fact that Luceno is doing "The Unifying Force" since I didn't like AoC, but then again I really liked CoD, so we'll see. We have to wait 3 and a half months for FH1, people.... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unhappy.gif A loooong time...

Luvinna.
10-17-2002, 07:04 PM
Maybe it's just that I'm getting tired, but what's CoD? My mind is a blank. ???

I think it's a safe assumption that most people aren't looking forward to TUF because Luceno is the author. (Please notice I said "most" so if there is anyone who doesn't agree with that statement, please don't jump on me for it.)

ron bond 007
10-17-2002, 07:46 PM
I'm looking foward to TUF because it will wrap up the NJO and have the final showdown between the Galactic Alliance(Formerly NR)the Yuuzhan Vong and the Imperial Remnant. I was hoping Zahn would write the last NJO hardcover but I think Luceno will do a great job with TUF because I liked the Agents of Chaos duology.

Cod is Luceno's prequel novel Cloak of Deception.

Luvinna.
10-17-2002, 07:56 PM
Okay. I haven't read Cloak of Deception. The only prequel books I've read are the novelizations and the two bridge novels (Rogue Planet and The Aproaching Storm).

I'm giving Luceno the benefit of the doubt. I didn't really like Salvatore's VP, but I thought he did a good job with the novelization of AOTC. I only think they could have found someone better. Say, perhaps... the aforementioned Zahn.

Hopefully this'll be the last time you hear me complain about Destiny's Way, cuz I finished the book last night.

Remember what I said about terminology before? People in SW do not use flashlights!! They use <font style='width=80%; filter:glow(color=yellow)'>glowrods!!</font>
Probably the same concept, but a different name for a different galaxy. It completely yanked me out of the GFFA to see that word in a SW book. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif

And emerald colored Force lightning? Okaaaay. That's new. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif

Ok, I thought DW was better than Traitor, because I seriously disliked that book. I know I am in the minority there, but I have always felt it's stupid for people to sit around and throw questions at each other. I didn't like the scenes with Luke and Vergere which were like that.
I have mixed feelings about the whole Jedi Knight ceremony. And what was up with Luke's little speech to Jaina? I am so glad Vergere is at least only a ghost now. I loved Ackbar, especially his, "ok I know how to beat them now" thing, though it may be far-fetched. I am not sure if I really like the way the series has gone in the last few months, but I am looking forward to the last few books.

jade51999
10-19-2002, 12:09 AM
emerald lightening? really? i missed that..

Gendi...
hmm..its ok to dislike something....Traitor was a differnt book, granted..but i do think that some of the issues especially when dealing with an alien species like the vong had to be dealt with--if they aren't it the force, how can they explain it? its the whole twist of the situation...so somhow--and not an easy run of the mill way--they had to come up with a solution...

it was different..

as for Luke's speech to Jaina..i think it probably has to do with her position in the rest of the story...the novel was called Destiny's way..so perhaps..the speech is supposed to point us in a more subtle way to what her destiny will be....

whereas they pointed OBVIOUSLY to Jacen's destiny...style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Got the new Insider..i like the Emissary of the Void stuff..its cool

I'm still waiting for my copy of DW to arrive, even Jade's copy of Ylesia didn't hold me over for long.

I liked DW. As I've told Jade, I don't like the books where they deal with one or two characters (I, Jedi being the exception). I didn't finish Dark Journey or Traitor. I like the books where everyone one is involved and there are different little plots (so to speak) going on.

Mara was a bit frisky in this one!!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

I feel the same way, Jade. I'm hoping that DR or the SFBC could put the e-books and short stories into a real book format, but it probanly won't happen, and there is no way I'm going to by an eight-dollar p/b of a book I already own a h/b for, just for eighty pages.

Oh, and my copy still hasn't arrived, and my thumbs are getting pretty bruised from all the twidling I've been doing.

Hi everybody!

As you can probably tell, I'm so very happy today! You know why? Because my copy of DW finally arrived yesterday! It was really good, if slowpaced.

I had only two problems, one, being that WJW has, apparently never heard of the word proven. All through the book he said "so-an-so has proved their value." And, two, from Shimmra I've always expected the love-child of Satan and the Emperor, but instead I get stuck with Scott Evil.

But other than that it was worth my 14.99.

Hand, maybe we could start a crusade and get a lot of people to write the SFBC and ask them to do that. If enough people ask, maybe they'll see there's a demand for it and will do it. Or, look at it this way. They may just be waiting until EOTV is done (in February?) and then they'll put out an omnibus with all three stories (Recovery, Ylesia, and Emissary). Sounds like something they'd do.

jade51999
10-28-2002, 12:37 PM
Maybe, but i doubt it mostly b/c they've alredy printed it with the hardcover (turning int ppb novlels)..so they probably won't do that until DW comes out in PPB which is where Yelsia would go..

Luvinna.
10-28-2002, 04:35 PM
Yeah, but technically, Recovery should have gone with the ppb of BP, not SBS because it occurs immediately after BP in the time line. Besides, the SFBC does that type of thing a lot (taking stories that started out as a serial in a mag and then printing it in a book), though I don't know that they've done it with e-books yet. Or, maybe we're looking at the beginnings of another Tales book, Tales from the New Jedi Order.

I'm not trying to get my (or anybody else's) hopes up, I'm just saying it's a possibility. I've noticed over the years that the SFBC does a lot of stuff that normally wouldn't even be considered.

Oh, it's called The Final Prophecy (just so's you don't have to click on the link).

Whuffa
11-21-2002, 07:53 AM
I wonder who that prophecy concerns. Ben? Jacen? Jaina? I have to say that I have little fate in the following NJO novels after Destiny's Way. They'll be really predictable from now on IMHO.

Jedi D'oh
11-21-2002, 11:49 AM
That's what I've enjoyed about the NJO series. It's unpredictability.

Hmm... now that I've had a chance to think about this title for a while, I'm leaning toward it being about Jaina. After all, there was that stuff Luke said to her in DW about her not ever finding happiness (which I think really sucks!!)

Jedi D'oh
11-22-2002, 01:04 PM
That was kinda funky wasn't it?

Handothrawn
11-22-2002, 09:50 PM
The Final Prophecy, IMO, probably doesn't have anything to do with the Jedi, just something resulting from the Jedi's actions.

In EoV, Ikrit said that something would grow with Anakin and Tahiri. Anakin, in order to save Tahiri, took the help of Vua Rapuung, a Shamed One, which ended in the a Shamed One rebelling against the higher class warriors, to protect a Jedi, the enemy of the Yuuzhan Vong.

Ikrit said that "one day it will burn you, your anger, one day the crucible will melt, and you will burn, and many others with you."

Anakin in SbS died, and his body was burned in DJ, and Jaina fell to the Dark Side, and in Traitor Jacen was being tortured and molded by Vergere, and people were being burned by Anakin's death all through the galaxy.

Now, in Traitor we see Ganner has gone to try to rescue Jacen, but dies, and creeping into Shamed One religion is the Ganner, a Jedi that protects the gates of death, the Shamed Ones are again turning toward the Jedi, and as was stated in EoV, a Shamed One is foretold to rise to power in this galaxy, and be able to redeem the Shamed.

It seems that Ikrit's prophecy will finally come to fruition in TFP, with the Shamed Ones truning full toward the Jedi.

I think that the urprising of the Shamed Ones will tear the Vong apart from the inside out, I also think that the Shamed Ones will rebel after Harrar or another High Priest lets it slip that the Gods are things Shimmraa used just to get his way. When they find out that their whole belief system is a lie, they will not take it well, after Shimmra is taken care of by Luke, the Shamed Ones and the warriors will end up fighting each other and the GFFA at the same time, with the Shapers and Nom Anor getting away very, very fast.

jedisaber
11-22-2002, 11:12 PM
"... wise you have became ..." hes right, i was just thinking the same thing, and since we know that jacen, jaina, and tahiri see jedi ghosts in TUF that probably means most of the book would be about jedi, so the book before it, TFP would most likely contain very few jedi story lines

Well, folks. 14 days and counting until Remnant comes out.

Not sure I'm as excited about this next part of the series. They're by a couple of authors I've never heard of, and the past NJO books that were written by authors I hadn't heard of . . . weren't my favorites, to put it nicely.

I am curious about it in some respects. I've been told that Luke and Mara go looking for the fabled planet Zonama Sekot. I'm wondering where they heard of it, and why they think it would have any connection to the Yuuzhan Vong. I mean, I know it does, cuz I've read Rogue Planet, but how do they know? Did Vergere say something in Destiny's Way that I'm not remembering? I want to know how they're going to go about tracking it down. And why they think it could help them defeat the Yuuzhan Vong?

I'm sceptic toward all the upcoming books, it seems that things finally took a turn for the better in DW and now it'll mostly be predicatble situations where the good guys win. Kinda like most of the Bantam/Spectra line.

Not really, cause if you think from Jacens point of view, you have to begin to wonder if the enemy is really an enemy...and whether or not the YV are bad or not......

I didn't mind Luceno throwing in cameos. I thought it was kind of cool. He's the only author who's referenced stuff from the Radio Dramas in his books.

I just have one little problem with the cover for Remnant. Luke hasn't used a blaster in around 20 years. You really think he's going to be that good a shot? I think he should just stick with the lightsaber.

7 days.

Does every one know the story about how all the authors of the Bantam series were playing with our minds? Well, I've come up with another conspiracy theory. I know there are people who are looking forward to Luceno writing the last book of the NJO, and I also know there are a lot of people who aren't (myself included). Well, maybe they're just playing with our minds again. Maybe Tim Zahn is really the one writing TUF, and they're keeping very mum about it. They create all this cover art for distribution with Luceno's name on it, but when we all get to the book store in November, the cover's going to have Zahn's name on it...

Okay. Maybe not. Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Well, yeah, okay. Except that you still have to practice. It doesn't just come naturally. Even though Luke uses the Force when he's deflecting blaster bolt with his lightsaber, he still has to practice, I'm sure. I guess he could have been practicing with a blaster all those years, but why would he practice with it and then not utilize the skill he'd spent so much time practicing?

"...Not as random or as clumsy as a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age."

I still think he'd be better off to just stick with the lightsaber.

As for the title, I had always thought that Shimraa was hiding something from the rest of the Yuuzhan Vong. Especially since I heard the title of this sub-series. I definitely think it has to do with him.

Who is that on the covers of those 2 novels?

Master Patton
01-30-2003, 08:12 PM
The first one is Jaina....i think

Brian
01-30-2003, 08:15 PM
...and Jacen is on the 2nd one? Hey, having not read one novel in NJO, how old are the Solo twins now (as of Force Heretic)? I am at The Thrawn Trilogy now and they are new-borns.

Handothrawn
01-30-2003, 09:21 PM
At the beggining of the NJO they were around 17. Now they have reached about 20/21 or so.

Master Patton

Who is the girl with jacen?...is that Tenal Ka?....

Actually, Jacen and Jaina were 16 and a half in Vector Prime, and the Anakin was 15. In Balance Point, 17 and 1/2, 18 and 1/2 in Star by Star (even though the book says 19; they tried fixing that mistake, but oh well), and 19 and 1/2 in Destiny's Way. So they'll probably be about 20 during the run of the Force Heretic series.

She looks like she is captured, duh. Well, is anyone missing in NJO? Does he have to go rescue someone? Is this foreshadwing for Remnant or Refugee?

Hey Hey, i know i havn't been around in a while just wanted to brag, b/c i never get to..and for once i went to work (and being a bookstore employee finallly paid off) and got Remnant today..

the bad news is that i can't read it until i finish reading the 100 pages for my class tomorrow style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif..

its cool i also gotta make it last longer than a day..

but 4 days guys! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

YEA!
and the covers look interesting..
I suspect its Tahiri
peace
style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Priya

there is one really bizaare thing about the book on the front cover its got this small blurb about tatooine ghost..but not the title

"On the desert world of Tatooine Leia and Han find intrigue and danger--and Leia finds a link to her past which has the power to shape her future..."

and that's all it says..it goes immediatly into a NJO blurb and all the opening maps, and chronology stuff...

thought that was odd...style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
anywhoo later!

Mine doesn't have that Priya. I found mine at the Barnes and Noble's here. They were unloading the crate things while I was checking out the comics. I got real lucky since Barnes and Nobles usually gets them in two or three days late.

Mine just shipped from Amazon yesterday so it should get here by the end of next week. I can't wait, but I'm kinda scared it'll be a big disappointment, like Destiny's Way was. The covers for the other two books look cool except for Jaina's appearence. She looks a bit too.... adrogny...

I love your theory Luvinna, I hope it's right but I seriously doubt they would do that. But we can dream.

<span style="color:7000CC">I'm more inclined to think Danni. Tahiri has the marks on her face, the woman in the picture does not. You never know, it could end up being an entirely new character.

I'm waiting for Destiny's Way to come out in paperback, as it will be cheaper. I'm not sure what I'll get after that. I want it cause Jag doesn't appear in the main character list. :look: </span>

SPOILERS

It isn't Tahiri, Tahiri is out with Han, Leia, and some mystery man in a breath mask.

I'd say it's Danni becuase DW took a bit of time to explain that Danni had nothing to do anymore. Jacen probably just brought her along for the ride.

You will get 10% off at Books-a-million if you buy Remnant there. They usually make all new books on sale when for the first week or so. Actually, The Approaching Storm pb is still on sale at 10% off.

Well Jaina thinks that jacen might have taken a likin to danni quee, but we all know since we read dark journey that tenel ka loves jacen

jade51999
02-03-2003, 11:36 AM
And i'm assuming that at one point he did have feelings for Tenal Ka, but i'm guess ing that the Lucasfilm gang feel that b/c she's queen, shes' pretty much unapproachable/unattainable--b/c they didn't have then talk to each other at all in Destiny's Way, and tK was in that book,

Based on DW and what's so far in Remnant..
..from what i'm reading so far..its going to be Danni..

which makes me incredibly mad style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif but i'll live..

jedisaber

jace didnt talk to tk in traitor, which makes me wonder, cause of the outburst of emotion when she felt him in the force in dark journey wouldnt she want to be with him at the next possible chance once she realized she loved him.?.?.?

The map the galaxy in Remnant is kinda lame. They left out a lot of planets one of them being Tatooine. Mon Calamari isn't there either for some reason. Though they did write in Geonosis, Kamino, (It's a lot further in then I expected) and Ossus of all places!!! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif :0

I for one thought Remnant was great. It was great to finally have a book taking place primarily in the Imperial Remant. But what happened to the Super Star Destroyer mentioned in DW? A Super Star Destroyer would have done alot in preventing the Vong from winning at Bastion. Is everyone else hap
