The cat is out in the hat but out of the bag. My mom had a lot of varied stuff that she had bought to sell on Ebay, or to give as gifts, or things given to her, ect. So you can expect to see me selling some unexpected things that you wouldn't expect me to sell.

Updated with new listings, and lowered prices of some items that didn't sell the first time around.

I am so torn. I had once said I would never get rid of this, but now I have it listed, though I just raised the price higher than I think most people would pay for it.
My mother loved angels, and collected several angel figurines and statuettes. I bought her some angel stuff too. I bought her, or else my ex-fiance bought her (I think it was her who bought it) an incredibly detailed and beautiful angel candle. My mom loved it, and so did I. And here I am trying to sell it though I once said I would never get rid of her angel stuff.
I am torn. In desperate need of money fast, but also not sure if I will regret this later, and on the other hand telling myself it's time to move on. Damn, I'm just not sure.

I have a lot of China and fine dish sets. I wish I knew what this piece was worth before I listed it and possibly undersell it.

If you have antiques...and that looks like one. I'd get it appraised. That way you know what your selling and how to price it.

Yeah, stuff like that, you could be sitting on a goldmine. Either that or it will be worthless!

You're both right. I'm not going to list it till I can find out its worth. I don't think it's an antique by any mean. If anything, it could be 30 years old, but I wouldn't imagine it being and antique. But I'll find out soon enough.
Damn...I had found in my parents old things, an imitation but genuine looking Rolex watch. But it doesn't work. I wonder how much money I could get for a fake Rolex that doesn't work?

With the right customer, you could get a lot. Just omit the "fake" and "that doesn't work" part of the information!

Blame my brother. He used to work in antiques and knows quit a bit. That's why I've got some of my grandmother's antiques in a safe place. I don't want anything to happen to them.

Tov...did you find anything out on this piece? What are the markings on the bottom or inside the lip?

Indeed I have. It has 18 carrot gold handles, and was manufactured by the National China Company in Salineville, Ohio. The company merged with a few other companies to form the American China Company, which then filed for bankruptsy in 1932. I don't know if National China continued production after American China went belly up, but this may very well mean that this piece was made in 1932 or earlier. I'm still looking into this.

This makes me sick to my stomach that I'm at the point of desperation that I'm even considering doing what I said many times I would absolutely never do. I'm thinking about listing my 34,000+ piece Lego city on Ebay. Somebody paid $30,000 for the 8 foot long Lego model of the Republic Star Destroyer on Ebay, so why not?
But if I do list it on Ebay, which is a crazy thought that I would ever part with my beloved testament to my creativity, a representation of who and what I am, I would not be listing it for the highest bidder of a few hundred dollars. That's crazy talk. I would set the starting bid of at least $20,000. That may sound like crazy talk, but I am not joking.
Two questions remain unanswered.
Is there someone who would be interested enough in my piece of art to pay at least 20,000 for it?
Would I feel good about selling it, even for 20,000, or any amount at all?
On the other hand, the current city has cost me about 1,500 to build. 20,000 can not only pay my mortgage and bills for a several months, but finance a hell of a bigger and better new Lego city. :scratchchin:

Here is my avatar that I made to use on my Ebay account. Do you think it's subliminally suggestive enough?

I would take loads of pictures of it, sell it (if I could get a good price for it) and use the proceeds to live on for a while, as you stated in another thread that you are struggling a bit financially. I think half the fun is probably building the city, so yes, why not use some of the cash to finance a bigger and better one! Although you will spend a lot on the lego, just think, all the time you are building you won't be out spending money on other stuff and you will have hours of fun!

Calling all scavanger hunters:
Lego sold the 8 foot long Lego Republic Assault Ship on Ebay last year for 30,000. Ebay continues to show sold items on their site for a time, but I don't know for how long. Point being, does anyone know if the listing for the Lego ship is still visible, and if so, do you know how to locate it? I've done a search but could not locate it.
Second question: What sort, if any, of advertising had Lego done to drive buyers to the listing? Anybody know?
I wonder if T'bone had done an article about the listing on starwarz.com, and if so, if the article contains a link to the listing location (assuming that the sold listing is still visible today)?
T'bone, can you confirm or deny?
Or Trilogist, maybe you had written about it on Jedinet.com?
Any help here would be hot.

Never mind. I sort of found it.
If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it canceled. Note: Listings that have ended more than 90 days ago will no longer appear on eBay.

^ And I found websites on it with photos and everything. But that's neither here nor there.
Bumpies. Back to selling, with new stuff listed. More stuff soon to be listed.
