How did you like it, Kope? That is the first SW novel I ever read, I started it the day I saw RotJ:SE in the theater. I was hooked on EU forever after that.
It's the only SW novel I have read twice.
kopernikuz
03-11-2003, 11:50 AM
It was pretty good. So far I've read (or listened to in some cases) the following EU Books:
Rogue Planet
Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter
The Paradise Snare
The Hutt Gambit
Rebel Dawn
Truce at Bakura
In that order. I liked Truce, but REALLY liked the Han Solo Trilogy. It really captured the spirit of Harrison Ford's portrayal. I could just hear him in there... saying those things. Plus they were a lot of fun! Truce was neat because it took place right after the trilogy and we get to see how Leia still can't forgive Anakin and the whole aftermath there. The Intek process was a little creepy... LOL.
Will I see more with Pter Thanas in future books? I thought his story was interesting.
Rogue Planet lost me for the most part. I never quite understood who Vergere was... but I understand there may be some connection to the NJO series within Rogue Planet? Don't tell me what it is... I'll get there... LOL Just tell me will it tie some things together?
I am now looking through the library system to find the X-Wing books... were they realeased on tape as well as print? I'm finding more time to listen to my tape player than read... but I may be getting surgery on my shoulder soon and might be laid up a bit... plenty of time to read then... LOL

Hopefully, Koper, you can publish a fanfic. I'd be in line to buy one of those.
So far, I've read these EU (in order):
Truce at Bakura
Heir to the Empire
Dark Force Rising
The Last Command
The Courtship of Princess Leia
Spector of the Past
Vision of the Future
I absolutely LOVED Vision of the Future! Right now, however, I'm rereading The Never Ending Story. It's a great book, even if it is intended for youngies.

The book I'm reaading was first published in 1923. Instead of the book being made after the movie, the movie was made after the book. It's history, not fiction.

Koontz, cool... let me know how that turns out. I haven't read Koontz in a long time... I used to be a big fan except for his goofy knack for rushing a contrived ending. He would spin a brilliant tale and then sometimes it seemed as though his deadline was approaching and he'd cop out on an ending. Phantoms, Watchers, come to mind... as well as others. But I love his writing. Haven't read any of his stuff since the late 80's early 90's though.

I'm reading a book called The Guardian. It's Christian Suspense novel (sounds odd doesn't it?) about a US Marshal protecting a witness and unexpectedly falls in love with her. It's by Dee Henderson and is a really good read.
(is anyone suprised that I'm reading something other than Star Wars? hehe, my parents are for some odd reason...)

Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Traitor - Mathew Woodring Stover (Rereading 2nd time)
The Giver - Lois Lowry (Rereading 11th time [I think])
The Dewstone Quest - Some author
Pegasus in Flight - Anne McCaffrey (Rereading 2nd time)
Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens (School setwork book)
Power of the Witch - Laurie Cabot (Non-fiction)
And my will teachers wonder why, when writing a literature essay on Tale of Two Cities, I will write about people getting pulled into another world where there are two cities that look like London and Paris. This is a perfect world where there is no colour or change and everyone's choices are made for them. The memories of this world are held by one person who is drawn through the lands of the dead by an alien woman while trying to protect the rights of Tallents from an evil woman named Barchenka. And all the while they will be learning a whole lot af stuff about Wicca.
And I will still pass the school year...

At the moment I'm reading the DragonCrown War Cycle by Mike Stackpole.
Very good books.
Starts with The Dark Glory War, as a prequel, and continues in Fortress Draconis (set 25 years later than Dark Glory). Second of the Trilogy is When Dragons Rage, and I think the title for the third part is The Grand Crusade, which should be out in December..

Give it some time, OB. It's not horrible...it has a few interesting bits in it. Through your posts here, I get the feeling you will appreciate the book. And reading it after seeing AOTC, you should get at least one chuckle.
I'm currently reading The Prometheius Deception by Robert Ludlum. It is a very exciting read (as most of his thrillers are).
It would probably make a decent movie script...but then again, I thought that about the Jason Bourne books as well. Not that The Bourne Identity was a bad movie...I just could not watch it because it did not live-up to the book.

I finally broke down - I'm reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Read the first 2 in the series last week. So far so good. I can see why kids (and adults) like these books so much. They're damn good! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
I'm either reading Mask of Ra or Mask of the Pharaoh style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif I can't remember...
At the moment I'm reading Dead Eye Dick by Kurt Vonnegut, A Story Is a Promise by Bill Johnson, and Green Lantern/Green Arrow by Denny O'Neil.

I decided to re-read the Dark Tower series by the modern American fiction god Stephen King, since he will begin releasing the last three books beginning in November of this year. I'd read the first three once before, and now I'm reading them again... already finished "The Gunslinger" and "The Drawing of the Three", and now am reading "The Waste Lands". "Wizards and Glass" is next.
I'm on a King bent right now... When I've finished (because it won't be November at the rate I'm going... I'll be done with all four by then end of the month) I am going back to read "Eyes of the Dragon" for more fun in Roland's world... before it moved on.
Then if it still isn't November, I think I'll read The Stand again.
The Dark Tower runs through most of King's books if you read them closely... everyone serves the beam.
