The place to discuss SOTE for computer and N64.

Suprosa (sp?) was the level where you vs a giant mech at the end. Luke drops you off there I think.

Giant mech...giant mech...giant mech...*proceeds to scramble brain*

Sorry. The only thing I can remember about any mech is facing off against an AT-ST. Any more hints you can give me?

Cydon

Sure. (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Suprosa)

I remember the look of that ship! (It's been years, if you haven't guessed by now. :D) Weren't there a lot of droids Dash had to battle?

EDIT: \/ Okay, see you later.

Yes. And Stormtroopers. GTG

Why have you started this thread? There can be little discussion or gain from creating a thread based on such an old game with no following.

Cydon
12-30-2006, 05:59 PM
Its either here or spamming in a different thread.

Emalin

Do we have permission to continue, Darth Darthy?

Cydon

BTW, there can be some use to this thread. For example: Emalin and I.

Darth Darthy

There used to be threads for these games, but as interested waned they were archived or deleted. I thought it'd be a good idea to keep it all here. Let's just use common sense about what's classic. If it's out of print or over 5 years old then its pretty close to being retro. I just didn't want to see loads of threads for what is essentially one topic - retro SW games.

I've merge the Shadows of the Empire thread with this pinned topic.

I'm fine with that. Anyone here play the original Rouge Squadron for N64?

Darth Darthy
12-31-2006, 07:39 PM
I spent many, many hours with my house mates at Uni playing that game. I also nearly broke my joypad in a fit of rage on that damn Y-Wing level full of missile silos.

Emalin
12-31-2006, 07:57 PM
My brother used to play that one all the time. I didn't like to play it, but it was interesting to watch.

I remember you could play a bonus level with Luke on Tatooine...something Biggs and Luke mention in ANH....

Cydon
12-31-2006, 09:52 PM
Yep. DIE WOMP RATS!

Emalin
12-31-2006, 09:56 PM
^ LOL!

Do you remember what the score system was? I remember something about shiny, Rebellion-insignia-shaped medals. I think there was bronze, silver, and gold, and in order to unlock bonus stuff you had to get a certain medal on every level.

Cydon
12-31-2006, 09:59 PM
No I don't. But there were the Rebel Insignias.

Emalin
12-31-2006, 10:12 PM
All right, then. As I'm hopeless at answering the question posed above, what's your opinion of the graphics? To my juvenile mind, they seemed very good.

I think the game came with some sort of graphics-boosting pack or chip to plug into the platform -- the same pack/chip that DK64 couldn't be played without. (Of course, that wasn't an SW game!)

Cydon
12-31-2006, 10:21 PM
Though it was a good game...Anyway, for an early SW game they were great!

Emalin
01-01-2007, 01:16 AM
Other than SOTE and Rogue Squadron, what other N64 games were there? Again, my memory fails me.

I definitely remember some classics for PC, though. (*cough, cough* Dark Forces *cough*)

Dark Forces: love it. (sounds weird, I know) This may come in handy. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Wars_video_games)

Hell yeah, I lost a lot of sleep when that game came out. One of my favorites.

Still to this day though no SW games have beaten the super SW games for SNES for fun. :joystick:

Yeah, I played Return of the Jedi for SNES once. It was haaaard!!

(Love the joystick smiley!)

Ever play the original ESB game for SNES.

I love this game! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Trilogy_Arcade)

No, I haven't played that one. I'll have to check out the article.

Yep, i've played both those games.

I played that arcade game at a movie theatre, can't remember what movie I went to see though. :scratchchin:

Darth Darthy

I completed Trilogy Arcade after pumping £8 into it. Arcades were hard to find in the UK and it was the first time I saw it. From what I remember it was pretty damn good too.

Super Empire was the weakest of the Super Star Wars games. Had waaay too many leaps of faith. And a bug on one of the final levels took all my force powers away so I couldn't force jump up to a platform to get to Vader. That pissed me off no end.

Darthy, can't remember for sure but was there ever a point in that arcade game where your driving a Speeder Bike?

Here is the Dark Forces Trilogy e-books converted to PDF if you want it. Less then 1MB.

Yeah, I vaguely remember that you just shoot imperials down, you don't have any control of the bike itself. I think.

I confirm everything I get from there though. You never know when someone might say Kyle Katarn came through the Stargate and shot Capt. Kirk in the head. :sly: It has happened before...

And yes, you can use a speeder bike on Endor. Its pretty difficult though. And no, you cannot shoot. Its only dodging trees. *Boring* I like the Death Star level.

Darth Darthy
01-09-2007, 01:00 AM
In Super ROTJ? I remember it looked quite good at the time. You had to bash the scouts into the side rather then shoot them down. It was pretty poop level in all honesty though. The MODE 7 Falcon levels were good fun. That Death Star port run was bloody annoying though. It was stupidly hard to judge how far away you were from the pseudo 3D walls.

I agree those SNES games were and still are a blast!!!!

Well so many games have those parts that are just hands down much harder than they should be, but I wouldn't trade the feeling I get afterwards for anything.

I used to play Star Wars for the NES all the time. Some parts were so aggravating that I wanted to scream, and probably did. It was such a pain to get all the way to the death star without using any continues, then waste half of them on missing a chasm jump that would drop you to your death.

Still loads of fun though, and I occasionally go back and play the game through. Catchy music too.

I can't remember if I've run Dark Forces on XP. I have the original DF cd-rom. Does anyone have any problems running it? Will I have to download a DOS emulator?

Darth Darthy
04-08-2007, 11:31 PM
It can be done because I did it a long time ago but sound was a bit buggered if I remember rightly. Try this: http://megazzt.googlepages.com/runningdarkforcesonxp

He's got lots of different solutions.

Anyone here played Rebel Assault I? That was like one of the first Star Wars games I've ever played...well, that and Dark Forces. Never got around to playing X-wing or TIE Fighter

Cydon
04-18-2007, 01:48 AM
Yep. It was okay. And like empire21 with Rouge Squadron, I lost A LOT of sleep...

Darth Darthy
04-18-2007, 03:55 AM
I tried Rebel Assault a few months ago in DosBox and although it works perfectly fine, I couldn't get past the first level. I always had trouble with that stupid canyon and 14 years later I still can't bloody do it. Rebel Assault 2 was far superior. If you have a joystick, I definitely recommend finding X-Wing Alliance - that's still as playable now as it was then.

empire21
04-18-2007, 08:04 AM
I own X-Wing Alliance and it is a great game but i'll be damned if I can find the discs.

Those Rebel Assault games were a lot of fun, I had the first one for Sega CD and then the second for Playstaion, i'd love to play them again.:)

udm

Yeah X-Wing Alliance was great fun! The Millenium Falcon is awesome to drive around in. I also played Rogue Squadron, that was good but too arcadish. Also, some missions are damn hard to complete on the hard difficulty. If I'm not wron, there's this mission in a cityscape which requires you to take down an ATAT. I think there was a time limit, and I kept losing because of the time limit

empire21
04-18-2007, 08:15 AM
I can't remember that much of the game, but I do remember never playing it with the hard difficulty level on, lol!

Rogue Squadron`s biggest problem was that the ships were really quite slow, and the draw distance was terrible. Only a few hundred yards in front of you everything disappeared. Still fun though.

Rebel Assault games were terrible! Only thing about them is that they look like Star Wars. In the first game, the sight that you aim with shakes all over the place to make it more of a challenge! What kind of thinking is that?

My two favourite SW games are TIE Fighter and KOTOR. Just class. They should keep bringing sequels out for those two til the end of time.

My favorite games were the Super Star Wars games for the Super Nintendo. I remember the first time I played Super Star Wars...I loved it! I still have the two sequels and still play them on occasion, for nostalgia. The cool thing about them was that they had a lot detail for being Super Nintendo games. Also, they weren't too easy (in fact, beating the game was quite difficult at times), and the bosses were always awesome. I also like the weapons they featured, including the "Seeker". Has anyone here played those games before, and know what I'm talking about?

Orandhite

Hell yeah I do! They were my favourite games on the SNES too! That wierd creature boss in the Cantina with the long neck was a total :censored: to beat!

Of course! It happens (not very frequently though) that I play the old SW SNES games. As Orandhite said, the Cantina boss was a real pain, but I think the lava monster in the Sandcrawler level was even worse. Vader's TIE was kind of a let-down IMHO.

I just did, I'm talented like that.

Go to the main page for Nintendo Wii and you'll notice just under the "Wii Titles" box a bunch of drop menus that says "Looking for a game" click the center drop menu that says Wii, then click Virtual console Super NES, Sega, N64 etc.

Rolla, have you ever gotten any games for the virtual console yet?
