Have any of you guys seen this movie? I didn't think it was as scary as people say it is, but it was still pretty creepy.

I thought it was pretty creepy, but it wasn't as scary as it could have been. I don't know why anyone would want to watch it again, it wouldn't be as scary the second time around.

I own the japanese version. It is well creepy. Big long silences and then suddenly this jarring scary music comes outta nowhere when horrible things happen. The music alone scares the hell out of you. I went to see the new version last week. It wasn't bad, still quite creepy and a little different to the original. I still prefer the original though. Spookiness! :0

I saw it in the theater and it was creepy as hell! I got the DVD and there's a section in the main menu that say's "don't watch this" who went straight to that? I chickened out :look:

"Don't watch this" is just a montage of deleted scenes.

This movie wasn't that creepy. The Gift on the hand, now that was a creepy movie.
Justin

You're right Javen, The Gift was pretty good. Stir of Echos is another great scary movie.

i haven't been scared by a movie since IT, and that was when i was ten. i'm looking for a truly scary film so i can sort of make my inexplicable fear of nothing in particular, like, tangible.

I just wanted that again when my sister went to it. I went with my boyfriend and we didn't think it was scary. Fear Dot Com was similar to it. That was dumb. lol.

people have different perceptions of what the word scary means. i don't like thrillers. thrillers aren't scary. i like creepy stuff. stuff that disturbs your sleep. stuff that affects you psychologically and makes you go insane with terror. sort of thing.
Aurra Sing
03-10-2003, 12:35 AM
I like thrillers...not because they are scary but because they usually have a better story like "silence of the lambs" "hannibal" "seven" and such
bodhisattva yoda
03-10-2003, 12:53 AM
strange. silence of the lambs is on in the periphery as we speak.
seven is good, but not really a thriller. more like, suspense horror.

That is on the DVD, QGW. When the cursor is on "play movie," press the "up" button and then press "select."

Please don't include Hannibal in that list... Thomas Harris ruined his characters in that book and that movie. IMHO. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
The first Silence of the Lambs is beyond brilliant! Seven is absolutely mindbending... Kevin Spacey is awesome!

I actually got into an argument with some chick in a "guess movie by plot" chat room the other night about The Ring.
She said it was great art and that the director was really saying something, and I said it was just a movie and the director was just trying to scare the audience.
Boy did she get angry.

Ring is the most frightening film EVER! I saw it about three years ago (the Japanese version) and I coundn't sleep or eat! It was real, I will never watch it again. It made doubt the existence of God and I cried the next day thinking about it. That said I am a real baby!

I was really disappointed with THE RING. I was really intrigued by the concept and thought it had some great actors, and I loved the atmosphere. But by the time it was over, I was like, "What? That's it?"
Personally, the only scary movies that really creeped me out in recent years were STIR OF ECHOES and EXOCIST III, which I just saw for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was one of the creepiest freakin movies I've ever seen and actually got me to jump a few times (which no recent horror movies have accomplished).

I thought The Ring was pretty creepy but not that great, but this trailer is awesome. Hopefully the sequel will be better than the first.

I enjoyed the first one but I can't imagine how they are pulling a story out of this. Should be called: The Ring 2: The Search for more Money

I am curious as to how the story will be worked into this one. Hopefully something to keep me pulled in. The first one was really good, not exactly scary but had it's jumpy points. Can't wait to see this.
