Do you know when the Bartender said to Luke in A New Hope " Your droids, we don't want your kind here!" Do you think he said it because of the Clone Wars and the Sepratists Droids, and there dislike to them all those years ago?

um... no not really. Tatooine is an outter rim world and the Republic didn't really exist out there according to Shmi in TPM. I always thought it was because Bounty hunters used droids to track down where bounties were hidding at and since the bartender wants his customers to feel welcomed and relaxed and buy more drinks and keep coming back etc. etc. droids weren't allowed. Now that doesn't mean that Bounty Hunters themselves weren't allowed in the bar (Greedo), so I can't explain that one...

I think that there were many people who simply didn't like droids, perhaps fear of them taking over from 'living' species or maybe just believing they are inferior.
It's a good point made by Zedekk, there is no real reason for droids to be in a bar, they do not need refreshment therefore the other bar patrons might be concerned about the reasons for them being there, e.g. looking for people with prices on their head.
I believe Mos Eisely was a place where you might go to 'stay low', as there was such a large element of scum & villainy there, it would be easy to blend into the background.

The reason is that it was a cantina, and they didnt want droids there. Would you rather have a drink with a droid or a real person?
(also when the movie was made, nobody ever heard of the seperatists...)

Another thing I thought of, and admittedly this is after reading about it in the new Legacy of the Force: Tempest book, is that droids, when asked to by their "masters" as a matter of habit record conversations. So the beings in the cantina being the secretive type would naturaly frown upon that as well.

I agree with some points made here. Cantinas, or at least that particular one, tend to be havens for those who want to hide from trouble or look for jobs(or more trouble). They don't want conversations recorded. They don't want spying probe droids. They want to be able to read their opponent or partner by a facial expression or tone of voice. They want that 'living and breathing' atmosphere around them. They want scum and villainy broken down to basics.

I agree with all the "bounty" opinions, aka almost everyone on this thread! They want to be able to relax with beings like them, those who can't remember everything and/or be able to assist in their capture.

Having a Droid able to record every face and every word said in the cantina certainly would not be too attractive for all the scum who hide out on Tatooine.
However have any of u thought of the economical reason to not allow droids? Droids don't drink, but they do take up space. So the more Droids that are allowed into the bar, the less room there is for paying customers.

In regards to the first post in this thread, what do the separatist droids and clone wars have to do with it???? Threepio and Artoo look nothing like any of the fighting droids the Trade Federation used!

"Oh my"
There can be various reasons. Droids could be used as spies and we know that empire was also using spy droids as well as bounty hunters. Droids do not drink and even today bartenders do not like customers who do not drink.
Also there is one more point. In ANH, empire was looking for two droids. If Luke and Obi Wan entered the cantina with R2D2 and C3PO, they would have made a big party and could not have left the cantina without getting caught to the stormtroopers which entered the cantina while they were discussing their trip to Alderaan with Han Solo. I mean it might have been just a directors trick to seperate the group, so the way Obi Wan and Luke melted into the crowd did not seem very unrealistic.
Another idea. We all know that bartenders are walking newspapers and they know almost everything that is going on in the area. Therefore bartender might have known that empire was looking for two runaway droids and wanted to avoid any possible imperial entanglements in his bar. We all know that Mos Eisley was full of stormtroopers when Luke and Obi Wan arrived with the droids.
