Thought it was about time we took this to it's own thread rather than muck up Dfab, DI, and Krog's advice thread.

Welcome... it is here we can discuss all things LoSS!

Black Manta

Ahhh... it's good to be home...

Mystery Man

Yes...it's nice and cozy in here.

Dang it! I tried to register as Mxyzptlk under an old Yahoo email address and when I went to look for the confirmation email I found out the account was deleted because I haven't used it in the last year.

Finally we'll be getting the respect we deserve.

You guys kinda... enjoy this thread?

What I didn't mention is that this thread is where we will be discussing our SOCOM: Online Clan... The League of Substandard Supertypes. Those in the clan recognized it. LOL. But all are welcome! In fact... I think Captain Linger and the Mann should get PS2 and network adapters if they don't already have them and then join us in the game as well as the thread!!

Okay clan... we need to make some decisions...

First... how will we prefix our names with LoSS?

<>, {}, XX, xx, ==, etc.

Suggestions?

Also... can we make a scheduled practice and game time tomorrow night Thursday 3/6/03 at like 8:00?

Who's available? Cap'n Aquaman?

Aquaman
03-05-2003, 02:50 PM
I'll be there, fighting for the seas!

Black Manta
03-05-2003, 03:13 PM
Okay... let's have some votes... here:

=LoSS= Black Manta

{LoSS} Aquaman

<LoSS> Mystery Man

[LoSS] Mxtlplyx

+LoSS+ Black Manta

(LoSS) Aquaman

>LoSS< Mystery Man

*LoSS* Mxtlplyx

So which one is better? I'm partial to the equals "=LoSS=". How about the rest of you?

Captain Linger
03-05-2003, 03:41 PM
Well, see, you guys, this is how it is for me. I can't afford to buy a PlayStation 2. Now, there was this one time I saw one for pretty cheap and I wandered in to the store and I spoke with the lady behind the counter. She told me the price and then I stood there a while longer, thinking about whether I should buy it or not. I decided it was best not to.

Come on! Vote on a Badge, teammates!

Vote now or I will be forced to unleash my Telepathic Scrambler on Aquaman, forcing his oceanic beast control to be limited to mollusks only. Who's afraid of a mollusk? Not I! So vote... or I will also unleash my Water Beast and have him blast you with my Laser Atom Smasher!

Vote... vote for the love of all things aquatic and otherwise non-aquatic.

Lets see...11:00? I 'm sorry, but Mystery Man only fights terrorists between 8:00 and 11:00.

And let me help you out with this Friends dilemma. You ever head of the ancient contraption called a VCR?
It actually works in those situations.

Now back to buisiness [LoSS] works for me.

Yes, but you try motivating yourself to go out and buy a blank tape when your car is parked 2 miles away from your dorm and it's cold and raining outside.

I own a VCR. I don't record much because I don't get any television channels.

So that's two votes for brackets [LoSS]... so I follow the party line and say sounds good to me too... which nullifies completely Dfab's vote since it's already 3 to one. Don't you love democracy?

Cool... Make sure to include a space between the badge and the name... otherwise it looks unusual. As long as it fits.

[LoSS] Black Manta will be ready and hungry tomorrow at 8:00 gentlemen.

kopernikuz
03-06-2003, 12:53 PM
What do you mean you don't count? My point is that you do and we want you to be able to join us... I know I can't be on that late... Maybe I don't count because 11 is way too late for me this night.

Darth Fabulous
03-06-2003, 12:55 PM
I meant in the vote for the clan badge.

kopernikuz
03-06-2003, 12:57 PM
I was kidding because there were only four people and it makes democracy difficult... It was a joke... what I meant was this... since there was already a two of four consensus... even if I had voted for something different, you would have to have voted for the same thing I voted for to cause a tie... which we'd break how? If you didn't vote for the same thing I voted for, then we'd both be nullified because it would be two for the brackets, one for whatever, and yours for whatever else. So in that case, brackets would still win. Does this make sense? I was more making fun of myself for deciding to conform than vote for what I wanted. The way I looked at it, voting against the majority at the time was similar to voting for Ross Perot... I may have supported it... but it didn't win. So I may as well tow the line. By doing so, my vote was not nullified.

In the end... neither of our votes would count unless we both voted for brackets which one, or both voted for the exact same thing other than brackets which caused an unbreakable tie in a group of four. It's simple. It has nothing to do with you as a person not counting.

And since I felt that the actual appearance of the badge was not that big of a deal afterall, it didn't seem worth trying to convince Javen and Krog otherwise.

You count Dfab...

Hey, Dfab... the system was really screwing up last night or something... everytime you came in it put you on our team and then the next thing you knew you were on the other team. It was weird... any idea what was happening?

That was weird... We still kicked some tookus - part of the time anyway. And my headset wasn't working much, so we didn't get to communicate - which reduces our teamwork quite a bit. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif

Kop, after you left, Javen and I shot that 'bunny' guy and =MA= to pieces. We went six rounds, and they only killed Javen once. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
I have to write down Dfab's [LoSS] name, and send him an invitation - that might have been why the room kept putting him on the other team, now that I think about it.

Javen and I asked them if they would be interested, and one did not respond, while the other made a farting noise, I think. We trounced them soundly the next round in righteous indignation. Final Score: 6-0 in our favor. We had 12 kills total, they have just 1. Now that I think of it, they may not have been [LoSS] timber.

Boy I certainly stunk it up early in those matches... but got better as we went along. Part of it was my complete unfamiliarity with those maps. I was so lost some of the time. I defintely find I am less the run-and-gunner that Krog is successful at. I am a decent sniper, cover guy, and guard for the bases. I'm best when I can concentrate and shoot, combining grenades and gunfire... I don't have the reflexes to win a lot of close battles.

However, I think I've discovered what is giving me the most trouble. If you press one of the analog sticks down it changes fire type, we discovered that (thanks Krog)... but I guess the other one reloads, eh? I'm sure you knew that, but I didn't. I think what is happening, is in the excitement of running in a circle or back and forth with some guy, I am inadvertantly reloading by pressing too hard on the stick. This sudden break in fire is just enough for the guy to take me down.

On that last level, I was very accurate with a handgun... better than the machine gun... I ran over a hill when a terrorist was closing on one of you and let loose three shots and took him down, even at a distant range. And this was while running, so apparently I can do it... I just need practice.

Also, the guy named PharCyde was using some method of cheating... had to be. When we first started the snow level, my PS2 froze and I had to restart... when I came back, it put me on the terrrorist team. Several times there was a blaze of gunfire and I saw in the top window, PharCyde saying "Man Down"... though he was still running around killing people. How was he doing this do you think? Something was up and I was getting annoyed about it.

I typed "glitchr" in the chat window right before we entered a match and he posted "?"... he's quiet otherwise... but that got his attention? Anyway... we get into the game, take him out a couple times and he quits... I think he was up to something. But that may just be the conspiracy theorist in me.

Javen
03-07-2003, 02:45 PM
Pharcyde was defnitley using something, maybe. The reason is this in Frostfire the first round he had 3 kills which was impossible considering out of us 3 you 2 were killed and I survived.Another reason is that I unloaded a clip into him at close range and did not die, he shoots me maybe 3 times...I died.

I was playing one night and kiled 2 people they both said got him, got him.THen proceeded something that I call a miracle. This guy who died got right back up and killed me!

kopernikuz
03-07-2003, 02:47 PM
I've heard you can glitch by reloading at the moment you are dying or something like that and it prevents you dying. That's BS.

Javen
03-07-2003, 03:16 PM
We defnitley need to find people with a sense of humour, I don't think people are understanding ours. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hehe.gif

We just need to keep on asking people, eventually we will recruit many. Maybe they think LoSS=Look Out Social Security.

The guy named 'PharCyde' was a pretty good player, actually. His tactics were well thought out. When it seemed like he was shooting 10,000 bullets in a fraction of a second, it might have been lag. Lag can create some very, VERY weird occurences. I've emptied entire clips into someone who was lagging, and then they shot me dead... and then they died. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif

The only occurence that makes me think he might be a glitcher was during the 'Blizzard' round. We lost the round, and the voice over female voice said, (and I've never heard this before)

"Mission Failed. All Your Base Are Belong To Me."

:0

What the heck? Did either of you guys hear that too, or was it just one of the voices in my head?

You're joking right?

Are you referring to this classic?

http://www.gamerspress.com/article.php?sid=919

Or did you really hear that?

He may be good, but part of it comes from cheating. To say "Man Down" as often as he did and still get up and fight... something wasn't right.
