We have hit a milestone. Fifty pages, 1,000 posts, but it's time to move on. I would like to thank everyone who made this possible: My good friends and associates Darth Insightful and Krogenar who provided gobs of great, funny advice, Padme who made about half of those 1,000 posts, and all of you out there who helped us help you. I hope that you will all find the second incarnation of this thread as hilarious and helpful as the first.
So it is with great honor that I open this thread...The doctors are in, how may we help you?

Dear fabulously insightful and krogerific guys,
What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me? Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song, and I'll try not to sing out of key...
Love,
Justin
P.S. Name that tune and the artist who performed it...

With a Little Help From My Friends, by Joe Cocker. (Belushi did a great Cocker impression, hilarious)
Now can you tell me who wrote the song?

Joe Cocker
Thank you, please drive through.

You guys are both on the right track, but wrong.
It was originally written by the Beatles and sung by Ringo Starr on the album Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Riiiight. But which one was more popular? If you wanted a particular version you should have specified. Anyway, ask for advice or don't ask for anything. This isn't name that tune.

Let's deal with this in parts.
1. "What would you do if I sang out of tune?"
I'd force you to listen to a tape of Rosanne signing the National Anthem. I believe that is the quintessential instance of someone singing out of tune. It was so bad that Justin Timberlake thought it was good.
2. "Would you stand up and walk out on me?"
Yes.

What would you do if I sang out of tune?
My reaction would depend on just how far out of tune you actually sang. If you're an octave or two higher or lower than you should be, hey, this is acceptable. If you sound like Helen Keller, then I may strike you down with terrible fury and anger, especially if you're taking my parking spot.
Would you stand up and walk out on me? Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song, and I'll try not to sing out of key...
Well, I'd like to buy you a coke, and keep you company - how's that? But on second thought, screw that... you did it all for the nookie, yeah, the nookie - so you can take the cookie, and... you know the rest. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

What would you do if I sang into the Socom mic?
You know like those singing cops, I could be the singing Navy Seal.
I could sing a real Joe Cocker special like Love lifted us up where we belong.

Make a new SOCOM name: 'Linda Ronstadt' or 'Mr. Belvedere' and then sing to your heart's content. Kop and I should make Aquaman and Black Manta SOCOM names.
That would be a funny SOCOM clan: 'The Justice League' - and everyone has to choose a superhero name. Imagine how humiliating it would be to be shot down by Aquaman? Wow...

Depending on the episode and which writers/animators/Korean slaves were producing Samurai had any number of powers and abilities, the tornado was definitely among them... as was looking almost heterosexual in a minidress.

The Superfriends show had some serious problems back in the 80's. It seems that every superhero on the show was white. So they started adding all these multi-cultural heroes. They had an American Indian superhero, the Samurai guy, etc.
It's really pathetic. It's like these guys just said... "Listen... we need a gook in there someplace. Anyone know one of their words? What? "Samurai" ... yeah, I know what that is, that's one o' those warrior guys right? Let's go with that."
Look on the bright side... he could have been named 'Tempura' or 'Moo Goo Gaipan' ... although it would have rocked if he were named 'General Cho' - like the chinese food dish, "General Cho's Chicken" - he could throw little chicken wings at enemies like ninja stars. That would rock! Actually, Siamese Sith was taking a class on Chinese History, and I requested that he ask about General Cho and his well-received chicken recipe, but he never had the courage to ask.

Hong Kong Fooey was awesome!
It was a sort of racial slur, but funny just the same.

Apache Chief! Who would say something and grow.
I remember an ep of Harvey Birdman, Att'y at Law where somebody spilled scalding coffee on AC's genitals and he couldn't "grow" anymore. They were about to win when a beautiful Indian princess came in and started talking about the spirit of the wild eagle or something and suddenly AC grew large in the courtroom. Case dismissed. What was funniest was when he grew, people could see right up his loincloth thing and were completely disgusted.

I think the politically correct attempts to 'diversify' comics led to some really funny characters. I have (in my possession) a comic book called, "Black Lightning" that is hysterical. Siamese can vouch for me on this one, he's seen the cover of it. I'm not making this up. Here's the scene on the cover:
Superman is on his knees, being overpowered by some sort of Kryptonite-powered villain. Superman is in obvious discomfort, glowing green and whatnot. In the foreground, Johnny Olsen is yelling at Black Lightning, (who wears a black and yellow lightning bolt costume), "Black Lightning! Why don't you help Superman! [Villain] is killing him!" To which Black Lightning replies, "Why? He'll just put me in jail afterwards!"
I'm not kidding. I laughed so hard I had to buy it - and it was cheap! It's just so obvious that a 45-year-old white guy scripted and developed these multicultural superheroes. As for Apache Chief, his superpower should be opening casinos!

Occasionally, during the fall fashion season in particular, Black Vulcan would wear pants. He also had a lightning bolt on the front of his outfit.
I always thought Luke Cage with his tinfoil headband was far more fashion forward.
The events of that comic remind me of the time Tanto punched out the Lone Ranger in the DarkHorse comic series.

Who the hell is Johnny Spillane ?
Curse you Obidobi! Somehow you've uncovered my terrible secret. I might as well tell everyone now. For several years I have been quietly creating a secret army of clones, dubbing the plan "Project Johnny Spillane." My plan was to take over the world by creating millions of clones, and genetically engineering them to be skiers, specifically Nordic skiers. However, my plan has been dealt a severe setback, when I realized that only a relative small part of the world was covered in snow at any one time, rendering my army of skiers fairly useless. In time I hope to re-engineer my clones so that they are capable of traveling on all types of terrain. Until then, I will focus my research on determining exactly what planet Michael Jackson is from.

It is a common misconception that women cannot be sexist. Women who think that all men are pigs, or have certain prejudices against men - those women are sexist. Perhap Ferris thinks you are one of those women. I would bring the issue to his attention by firmly thrusting you knee into his groin. Then he'd have to see it your way.

Shoot, I was trying to be completely rude. Oh well, I'll just have to try harder next time.
Seriously though, the problem probably lies with the other person and not you. You might want to ask said person why they're ignoring you. If they continue to ignore you, steal one of their prized possessions, and then send them a picture of the possession tied to a chair. Make outrageous ransom demands or threaten to destroy the object. That should open up the lines of communication quite nicely.
Thank you, please come again.

First off, I have to say that we are anything but a run-of-the-mill advice thread. Having said that, on to giving out advice.
1. I find that when I hurt my back, it's best not to move a lot. Heat also helps. Also, have an adult beverage, that should help ease the pain, or at least get you so drunk that you hurt yourself in another way and forget about the back troubles.
2. Well, you can't quit your job, because that's what allows you to buy these games, and you can't stop playing the games because you've already bought them. It's a vicious cycle. Here's my suggestion: clone yourself. That way, you can send the clone to work while you play video games and work on your murder mystery. Plus, if you're successful in creating a clone, I'm sure someone offer to pay you a lot of money for your work. Sell out for big bucks and quit your job. Then you'll have all the time in the world to do whatever you want.
Thank you, please come again.

Hey gang, Aquaman here.
I had an idea on how to upgrade my image with the public.
You know that song by 'Five For Fighting' about Superman? I reworked it a bit. Any tips on how to improve it would be welcome.
"Aquaman (I'm Not Greasy)"
I can't stand to fry
I'm not a fish stick
I'm just out to find
The low-fat part of me
I'm less than a man:I'm more than a fish
More than some scaley face inside a tank
It's not easy to fry me
Wish that I could breathe
the sweet sweet air of respect
I cry sometimes at night
for a respect I'll never get
It may sound absurd:but don't be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed:but won't you conceed
Even Heroes have the right to dream
It's not easy to be me
Down, down, into the deep:please stay with me
Won't someone please call; I'd love to save your lives
It's all right:You can all sleep sound tonight
Real superheroes are out there: somewhere
I can't stand to fry
My flesh is quite healthy
Fish weren't meant to fry
to fatten up your knees
I'm only a fish in a tight orange shirt
Digging for clams on this washed out beach
Only a fish in a tight orange shirt
Looking for special things inside of me
It's not easy to fry ... me.
Please be gentle, I'm not really a musician.

Okay, real advice needed:
I have a regular nine-to-five professional job that I make decent money at, but with the size of my family, more money is always helpful. I currently deliver pizzas part-time in the evenings. It's decent money, but with the price of gas the tips aren't making it worth my while and my car is getting beat up... it's a 2000 for crying out loud and already has too many miles because I commuted from Columbus to Cleveland every week for almost a year and a half.
Anyway... in January I had an on the job accident delivering and damaged my shoulder. It appears that I may in fact require surgery (I'll know after an MRI next week). Either way... I am thinking that perhaps my pizza delivery days are over. What should I do about a part time job? Something mindless that I don't have to stress over... just get in do it and get out and make semi-decent money.
Any suggestions?

It's called rush hour because everyone is rushing to get home at the same time which results in massive traffic congestion and slower traffic.
They don't make the whole plane out of the black box because it would be too heavy.

They have drive up ATM's with braille because a seeing person could drive a blind individual to the machine and allow them to access it.

Well, the blind people in this country originally wanted braille on all the road signs, but blind drivers were smashing their hands against the metal signs. Attempts were made to create motion detecting signs that would verbally direct blind drivers.
Sign: "Yield!"
Sign: "Stop dammit! STOP!!!"
And so forth.
It was finally decided that perhaps blind people shouldn't drive at all. Today, their seeing-eye dogs do the driving for them.

I don't know what the heck happened to me in Frostfire. I picked the M63, not my usual terrorist weapon, and I sucked. I would stand there and dump what must have been 30 rounds in a Seal's direction, but I would be lucky if one hit him. I got wasted by Krogenar so many times I lost count. I lost my connection right after Desert Glory so I had to join the game again after it had started and I got stuck as a terrorist. Seals really have an advantage in that map, there wetsuits make them almost invisible.

What?! You were doing the best out of us all!
But you're right about Frostfire - the SEALS have an advantage being in dark suits. But they always seem to have slightly better camouflage and gear, in general. Which I like, since that's how things would be in the real world. The terrorists usually seem to have a better starting point too, I guess as a trade off.

Well dear, kopernikuz made that one for me, but I made two a lot like it and posted them in the soap thread. You need to put your avatar on a space shuttle, which then needs to crash as it's landing. Then, for about $6 million dollars (adjusted for inflation from 1970, that equals about $9 billion today) we can rebuild you avatar. You'll need to keep a little tape recorder in your avatar's person at all times, to play your theme music (when appropriate.) Then we'll put some small, circular trampolines into the ground, so your avatar can jump onto them, and jump really far!
.. but we'll have to slow down the film, and your avatar will have to make a "gggGGGGggggGGGGGah!" sound.

Well, despite Darth Fabulous and Padme's best efforts, this is still an advice thread. I think it is the best advice thread going, though lately we seem to have veered off course and yet again I have to push DF away from the controls and steer this fair ship back to safety and success.
Count me as being against this new addition to the thread. I think the three of us are more than capable of handling people's various questions and we don't need another advice-giver. This is nothing more than a gimmick to attract more patrons to the thread, patrons that would have never gone away in the first place had two individuals (who shall remain nameless at this time) not turned this thread into a bad episode of Love Connection.

DI's 2nd post: "Do you have socks, Krog?"

I'm all for it Krog. Of course we'd have to insert a mind-boggling amount of smilies, abbreviations for laughter and completely ignore everyone else, but I think we could pull it off.
As for you being a gimmick, nothing could be farther from the truth. You're a valued member of this advice thread and I don't think we'd be as successful as we are were it not for our combined efforts. This magic 8-ball thing that DF has cooked up is nothing more than an outlandish scheme to gain back all of the patrons he drove away with his blatant disregard for the ideals of this advice thread. Granted, we have gotten off topic from time to time, but it was only after a conversation ensued about a question we recieved.

Well vodo bass, there are several schools of thought on this particular topic.
There are those who think that finding a young lady you like and then becoming friends with is the best way. Later on, once you've demonstrated that you are a stand-up guy, you make your move. The thought being here that women are more likely to be involved with guys they are familiar with and have been friends with. However, if you try this you're walking a fine line. There is a point when you've become to close of friends for a romantic relationship to become possible. I've seen this happen and it's not a pretty sight.
Another option is to pick out a girl you're interested in and flirt with her shamelessly and incessantly. This is the road DF has chosen to follow in his pursuit of Padme. Will it succeed? Don't know, don't particuarly care, I was just using that as an example. I'd say that if you try this method you'll know fairly soon if she is interested in you. A variation on this would be dropping some not-so-subtle hints to the young lady that you have more than just a passing interest in her. Then, after you're sure that she's caught on, don't mention it again. Don't hardly say anything to her. I know this works for girls but I'm not as versed in its effects when used on a woman. She may just think you're a jerk, hard to tell. If you do decide to try this, let me know how it turns out. Maybe I can use it to write a paper.
I'll throw this one out there for those of you who like traditional ways of snagging a woman: use the time-honored method employed by the cavemen and club one over the head. Now, chances are that this isn't the most socially acceptable method. However, in this day and age you have to be willing to think outside the box. Make sure you don't hit her too hard or you've got a premeditated murder case on your hands.
Now, if you don't have any particular women in mind, there are ways to attract them. Find a way to make huge sums of money. Doesn't matter how really, just that you have it. If you want to you could fake it, but not many women will hang around a guy who is poor and a liar (there's a Joe Millionaire joke here, but I'm not going to make it). Another option is to take out an ad in the personals or try out a dating service. I've never actually known anyone who has done this, but those comercials on TV have me convinced it's almost foolproof.
Hope this helped and I wish you luck in your romantic endeavors. By the way, if you need a club of some sort, I suggest a Louisville Slugger bat, about 30-32 inches with Bobby Bonilla's signature on it. Not that I'd know that from personal experience or anything, you just hear things.
Thank you, please come again.

Siamese made an important point earlier. If you run about, desperately seeking female companionship, you're going to have what is called a 'lean and hungry look' - which pretty much precludes you ever touching a woman again.
I suggest that you give up on this silly quest. Chances are, when you stop looking, a woman might find you. She'll be repulsed, but she'll find you. You also might consider a mail-order bride from South Korea, or the Phillipines. They make excellent wives.
