My old Jewish boss was going up the elevator with me (43 floors) and Christmas music started playing. Well, using Yiddish and the Elevator Theorem, he turned around, back faced toward the door, raised his arms, and started singing in Yiddish while pretending to direct a band. Gah! Hasn't anyone ever read the Grinch? Fill it in a verse at a time..
The Grinch hated Christmas!
The whole Christmas season!
Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
It could be that his head wasn't screwed on quite right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were to tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

A putz is the same as a schmuck. :tease:
A goyum is a non-Jew, AKA a gentile. Also referred to as a goy. If you ever watched the Nanny, or Seinfeld, you probably heard that term lots of times and didn't think twice about it (think about the episode where the Jewish kid, and then his rabbi, fell head over heels for Elaine because she was a goy.)

I got Luke's ROTJ one. I just thought it was cool as I always wanted to be Luke when I was a kid. Also Qui Gon had a green lightsaber and I love his character. Though I have to admit the hilt isn't the best looking one from the range.
At first I was a bit disapointed as the sound effects aren't all that great (though the powering up is awesome) and you have to hit something reasonably hard to get it to 'clash', which I don't want to do as it knackers the LED's. However, the more I play with it, the more I enjoy it. It just looks great and just holding it reminds me of the magic of SW, when you are a kid and pretending you are a Jedi. When I was a kid it was just crappy plastic lightsabers!

You mean me?! Hmmmmm, let's see, you can kill someone without a weapon in 4 secs. So what are you gonna be able to do with a weapon?! :scared:
But ok, I'm a man. Just you and me. One on one. We could use pistols at dawn. Could fight with lightsabers. Maybe just bare knuckle boxing. But, even better, how about a game of scrabble? :nahnah:

Boy, Christmas is becoming more and more commercialized by the media, but it's nothing near as bad as it was back in Jesus' day.
I'm tellin' ya. I had no idea Maury was that old.

(No... I refuse to say "Happy Holidays". It's funny, people talk about how saying "Merry Christmas" offends people--but did anyone ever stop to think that perhaps "Happy Holidays" offends others?)

LOL... well, it's always funny to see non-religious people insist on Happy Holidays versus Merry Christmas because they are somehow offended by the religious connotation behind "MC"...
... Do they not realize the origin of the word "Holiday" is "Holy Day"?
Middle English holidai, holy day, from Old English hālig dæg : hālig, holy; see holy (http://www.answers.com/topic/holy) + dæg, day; see day (http://www.answers.com/topic/day).
:P
Anyway... 5 of 8 of us in my family here are down with the Norovirus... so that's not cool... it was a happy yet subdued Christmas morning here... right after opening presents, the 6 year old went back to bed, poor thing...
Still a good time though... hope everyone else is having a wonderful day and that Santa brought you something good. ;)

That's not mainly a non-religious issue. The term "Merry Christmas" is an exclusive term which excludes people of other faiths who doesn't celebrate Christmas (such as Muslims and Jews) and which leaves them out but whose feasts occur around the same time. The term "Happy Holidays" is inclusive.

And some people don't realize that the Church stole the date for the Christmas celebration in 353 AD as a way of oppressing the Mithra worship which was widespread and which had it most important festival on December 25 :nahnah: (in some places in Iran, the Mithra festival is still being held around December 25). Before that, the birth of Christ was celebrated at various dates ranging from April to November.
However, I prefer Merry Christmas myself (here it's called God Jul).

Too bad to hear that!:( Infection by the Noro-virus is known as the Winter Vomiting Disease here in Sweden. I have a terrible cold myself...

No, I am aware... my point was about non-religious people who complain... which is why I said "non-religious" people in my post... obviously those of any "faith" would not be offended by "holy days" as a reference. It's kind of become a catchall phrase for those of no faith as well, even though its root implies religious belief. But technically we call any time off from work a "holiday" now... but it's still funny to think of the root. :)

That's the only thing I know for sure how to say in Swedish. D:
Anyway, I said Merry Christmas to everyone at work (a grocery store) because saying 'Have a good holiday' or 'Happy Holidays' feels really impersonal to me for some reason. I seriously doubt anyone is offended by it anyway, or if any of the thousands of customers I saw yesterday were, they didn't say anything about it.
Anyway, Merry Christmas, guys! Can't believe I've been here off and on for over eight years now... >.<
