Below is a link to a list of observations I had made during a recent viewing of THE PHANTOM MENACE:

*”What if this plan fails, Master? We could be stuck here for a very long time.” – Obi-Wan’s remark seemed to foreshadow his own fate on Tatooine.

Never thought of it that way. Good call.

Nice list, Fish... never thought of some of those. Excellent!

*Anakin had ended up inside the Federation ship, because his fighter had been hit. And he had accidentally destroyed the shield generator.

OOOPS!

Really nice list. I haven't relaised some of the things you mentioned in your list. Sometimes while you are watching a movie, you get too carried away, you miss important parts.

While it's true that he ended up in the Federation ship, the hangar shields were open in order to let out a group of Droid Fighters. A pleasant read!

found a cool site that has photo/captures from the very first script reading of the prequels -

http://ewan-captures.net/tpm2/images/extras_104.jpg
and check out Natalie - she really was this young

there are also images of Ewan selecting his lightsaber
http://ewan-captures.net/tpm2/images/extras_079.jpg

getting his first Jedi haircut:

and of the first practices with Nick

sorry you're having difficulty Rolla - they pop up for me - you can go to the index and perhaps pursue linkage by starting at the beginning, going to TPM; to extras:

Thanks, that worked just fine. :ok:

Seems like I saw most of that stuff on the extras for TPM dvd, but still a cool find!

culio - I especially liked the screencapture deleted scenes where Obi Wan and Qui Gon are rescuing Jar Jar - looks like a tsunami is closing in on them. and also Obi Wan from a different pov on Duel of the Fates:
http://ewan-captures.net/tpm2/images/extras_126.jpg (http://ewan-captures.net/tpm2/images/extras_126.jpg)

and actually this entire page is pretty dang cool -
http://ewan-captures.net/tpm2/gallery.php?page=4 (http://ewan-captures.net/tpm2/gallery.php?page=4)

and Ewan keeping Jake amused between takes with magic tricks:
http://ewan-captures.net/tpm2/images/extras_205.jpg (http://ewan-captures.net/tpm2/images/extras_205.jpg)

the site has a wealth of BTS - for all the prequels

Now I may be missing something that someone else may know a definitive answer for, but it just popped into my head when watching TPM earlier (I like this film more and more each time I see it and dislike things e.g. Jar Jar, less!).

During the Pod Race, a cable becomes detached from Anakin's racer. He struggles to connect it back up and reaches out with a pole ('cuse my lack of technical terminology) in order to do so. To me it looks like he did not quite reach far enough to connect it back up, but willed it to connect and may have used the force in order to do so. Now was this just a bad camera shot, or maybe I am reading to much into it? I'm not sure why this didn't click into my head before, nor do I recall anything about it from the novelisation. Any input?

Also during the podrace, it looks to me like there's a big pile of crushed speeder coming right at Lil' Ani and it miraculously seems to move away from him. Did Young Skywalker unconciously do some kind of force push?

As for the pole thing

I always took it to be either magnetic or have like really big sucker on it that sucked the chord back

The crashed Racer parts though...

who knows

Maybe palpy was manipulating the midichlorians to have the peices- Oh forget it. :banghead:

Yeah, I think it probably was magnetic or something, I think I just like the idea of him being strong enough with the force that he didn't need to necessarily be taught how to use it.

Maybe Mr. Lucas was manipulating the pixels to show that Young Skywalker was already using the Force without even knowing it.

Do you mean when that one speeder's engine exploded after Subulba threw something into the intake, and the pod and engines exploded as Ani was flying toward it? My take is that, flying 600+ MPH as they were, the pieces of wreckage were still flying against the oncoming air, and were being thrown about violently according to wind resistance. I have seen debris from exploding airplanes and missiles, and even some high speed racecar crash debris, do the same thing in real life footage.

Matt Stover interview -

_______________________
Indianapolis, Ind.: Which Character do you identify most with and why?
Matthew Stover: I guess that would probably be Anakin because there is nothing I wouldn't do to save the people I love.
_______________________
Gary, Ind.: Many Star Wars fans were disappointed by "The Phantom Menace." In your view, was it a mistake to take such a humorous tone with that movie? Would you have included Jar-Jar, if it were up to you?
Matthew Stover: If you had asked me that question two years ago I would have said no. However, now knowing what I know about how the whole story plays out I have to say that I wouldn't change anything.
_______________________
Arlington, Va.: Don't we all basically know what's coming in this movie? Will people still find surprises when they actually see it?

Matthew Stover: There are some surprises in the film. But a film like this is not about surprises. This is a tragedy. Tragedy is about the pity and dread watching the destruction of those we have come to admire or even love. If you want to know more, you can find it in Aristotle's Poetics.
_______________________
Boston, Mass.: There are novels that take place ahead of the six movies with tidbits that explain things in the past. How did you handle details that weren't in the movies at all, but are part of the extended storyline?
Matthew Stover: Some of those details are and some of them aren't. I went ahead and included everything I thought was relevant and just trusted to Mr. Lucas to cut out everything that he didn't want in the story and that's exactly what he did.

If you listen to the sound effects, you can hear a "fwoomp" noise that suggests the pole is magnetic.
