In which order should a SW virgin watch the movies?

I am not interested in "Only the OT" or "Only the PT" so please don't start a war here. Thanks.

OT first, then PT. You can watch them in order later.

The Original Trilogy then the Prequels
Why? Because you already know after ROTS who DV is and who Luke and Leia really are.

In my opinion a SW virgin should watch the OT first. Than he can watch the PT.

This will probably create the effect it had on us, who were lucky enough to be able to wait for new movies.

Four votes and one is mine. Thanks guys.

I posted a poll at LiveJournal and 70% of the people said OT first. I agree.

Yeah, got to go with OT first. As previously said, it'll impact you better that way.

I was thinking about the 'other' option. It might be interesting to watch them in this order: 1, 4, 2, 5, 3, 6. That way, you have the focus on 'Act 1' if you will, of the PT, then switch to Act 1 of the OT, and so on and so forth.

So, to touch on just a few things, you see Anakin's young adventure, then Luke's adventure. Then Anakin and Padme's (attempted)love story, then Han and Leia's love story. Then Anakin's fall, then Luke's near fall and Anakin's redemption.

And of course there are many more similarities that I don't need to point out right now.

But I don't know that I'd recommened it in that order for a SW virgin.

*joins the mob* OT first, it's all about the impact, and that way the FX get better as you go along too, which is kinda funny since PT was actually 20ish years earlier.

I like that idea Miasmo, though I also agree that is not for a virgin

I still haven't sat and watched them in order

Nov. 10th, on Cinemax, the entire saga will be shown in numerical order! Oh, and in HD to boot!

I agree with the majority here. Should be the OT first, then the PT.

The original trilogy needs to be seen first. Makes the plot points more interesting, see the evolving of the effects and film.

The Original Trilogy then the Prequels

That's how I watched them first, and it makes them more suspenseful instead of already knowing about Anakin/Luke and Luke/Leia's family ties.

OT then PT.

The whole impact of the OT movies was that you followed Luke on his journey from knowing nothing, to becoming a Jedi. Watching the PTs first would negate some of tha impact because you would know everything beforehand.

OT definitely, there's some improtant backgroud stuff you just don't get in the PT, i think, becasue it is assumed you've already seen the OT.

I'm gonna vote for PT first. I'd only suggest that to someone who's opinion I trusted though - it would be interesting to see how they viewed the whole saga. Perhaps they would view things in a way different to that which a lot of us have grown up with. :scratchchin: I think it would be an interesting experiment.

But would it be an ethical experiment? If i were on an Internal Review Board, i'd never approve such a thing....

^^

I agree with Jedi Master Harrison it would be interesting to see how they think of whole series viewing the PT first and the OT after.

besides then they would know how everything happened before hand and be confused about nothing example: how vader became evil, as the books were meant to be read so shall the movies be watched episode 1 straight to 6.

I'm not sure what a SW fan's sexual experience has to do with anything; although Triumph thinks that all SW fans are virgins...SW and LOTR too.

after much thought, I decided on OT first, PT second, even though by now pop culture has ruined the big moments in the OT

I would have thought the answer to this question would be obvious.

First, you show the person the Star Wars Holiday Special, then the Phantom Menace, and by that time Attack of the Clones will look like one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces of all eternity....

However, I would show the person the OT, then the PT.

Ot then the PT, there are certain lines that need to be heard first before they watch the PT.. if just for the shock value.
