This is already being discussed here (http://www.galacticsenate.com/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=3504), so I'm going to close this thread. Why don't you post your link there? I'm sure everyone there would like to see it.

Why are you guys petitioning to get the OT on DVD when you know that it will be out on DVD sometime around 2006-2007? If you want it now, just buy the bootleg from overseas. It works fine for me until the real one comes out.

We mean the original, original trilogy, i.e. not the Special Editions. The Special Editions are fine, but we would like to have the older versions available as well, if for no other reason than history, so that future film historians will be able to trace the development of it.

We're talking about the original, unaltered versions of the OT. We all know that the Special Editions, or whatever hybrid of the OT will be released after EP III.

I hope he does, but I doubt Uncle George will let the old true versions of SW the OT out again.

It's come to a fine thing when folks have to beg him to release the bloody films that made him all the money in the first place.

Actually, I got the widescreen THX digitally remastered version that came out in 1995 on ebay.

I also got a couple of VCDs that have trailers and documentaries and whatnot on them, so that I can transfer it all to DVDs. For my own personal use of course.

They'll never release the originals on DVD, I've even heard rumor of a "special" special edition to fit in with the prequels

Don't want to disappoint anyone, but electronic petitions are entirely worthless. Since there is nothing to stop me from adding thousands of fictitious names, and there is no way to effectively verify them, it is a waste of time.

QuigonWindu

The new editions will be out after ep. 3. What's the big deal with the originals. The special edition was better. And the DVD edition will be the best yet.

Yes, yes!

Star Wars Trilogy (DVD): Finally, the classic original series trilogy may at last be coming to DVD in order to help the buzz for "Episode Three". The Digital Bits reports that Lucasfilm is so happy with the format of their upcoming "Indiana Jones Trilogy" DVD set hitting shelves late October that they're rumoured to be planning to use the same style to release the classic Star Wars films. This would mean a four disc set with one film on each, plus a fourth disc with extra features for all three films. Work is believed to have already begun with a 4th Quarter 2004 release date being targeted. For now though this is still rumour, nothing official has yet come from Lucasfilm about this.

Yeah, I agree Bond. I would rather they wait until they can devote the necessary time to make it right. I want deleted scenes, I want documentaries, new and old, I want trailers, etc.... There is plenty they can do with the OT, I hope they don't blow it.

bluemilk
09-28-2003, 11:28 PM
^exactly. Why rush it? Technology will be so much better in 2005/06 that it's worth waiting until then. Besides completing Episode III is so much more important than satisfying consumerism.

Justin
09-28-2003, 11:45 PM
I bought the widescreen digitally remastered Star Wars Trilogy that was put out in 1995 on VHS.

I also bought VCDs that have documentaries and trailers and other such things that would make nifty special features on a DVD.

I have digital video capturing and DVD authoring software.

Draw your own conclusions! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

However, the Galactic Senate and Starwarz.com do not endorse the unauthorized selling of bootleg items.

Justin

Hey, I didn't say I was selling anything. I'm making it for my own personal use, since Lucas says he will never release DVDs of the original versions.

Question: What is my bootleg copy of the SE OT bootlegged from? I had just assumed that it was copied from a DVD. BUt I guess not. Were they copied from VHS or what? That shows what you get buying things on the street for $5 in Bangkok

Count Dookie
10-27-2003, 09:30 AM
As it has been said in this thread before. How in the world is this a vaild petition. There are not signitures or addresses to be provided to Lucas Films. Not only that, but GL will not release them until HE wants to.

Sith1977
10-28-2003, 01:57 PM
The bootlegged DVDs are copied from the original Dolby-Digital Laserdisc versíon of the OT SE. They feature good picture quality, Dolby Digital 5.1-sound and most of them are divided into chapters...
But be careful, some of them offer poor sound quality... I experienced a change in volume during the films, everytime a scene changes from action to dialogue... IT SUCKS.

Darth Bangkok
10-29-2003, 06:53 AM
It does suck. I bought 3 copies of ESB ($!5) and in EVERY one when the Imperial March comes on for the first time the sounds goes down about 10 notches. AAAAAAHHH!!
