This sounds exciting! And here I was, thinking about ditching Cinemax.

Starting at midnight, last night, Cinemax began showing the entire saga, in numerical order, and they have been continuing the marathon after one is done.
Well, I wanted to do the marathon last night, but I simply couldn't. As a result, I started today, with the 1:50pm start of TPM. This thread will chronicle my marathon to the end.
3:09 - Padme and Anakin are talking aboard the Naboo cruiser, and I just finished a delicious salad prepared by the missus.

HD indeed! Unfortunately, I don't have an HDTV, but I still receive the HD signal through my digital cable anyway and it's definately a much better image than standard TV.

One of the best scenes in the film was when Lando's betrayal, and Vader prize, were revealed.
"We would be honored if you would join us."
It was dramatic that the door closed, blocking us from the next scene, but I wish we could have seen what came next, after the doors closed. Did Vader say anything else, at all, to them, or where they just immediately grabbed by stormtroopers and wisked away? You would think that Leia would have something to say to Vader, or vice-versa, considering how he had held her prisoner once before, she had escaped, and now he had her again.

Flashback to AOTC when Padme gets knocked out of the ship on Geonosis and OB1 and Anakin argue about stopping to get her. It's decided that they will leave her, as it's the right deciscion. Just goes to show you why Luke is waaayyyy too old to begin Jedi training. Way too many attatchments.

We watched all of the PT until 2:00am (we had a bit of a break in between each one)

It's funny you mention that because we were getting caught up on Prison Break on the DVR yesterday afternoon and I paused it to watch this conversation in ROTJ when it was on. It's actually quite sad that I had checked the movie before starting, we had two episodes of Prison Break to watch, and I was able to figure in my head when this scene would be. I paused it and flipped over when Han comes out to talk to Leia after Luke walks off so I was pretty close.

BTW, congratulations on getting through the marathon. I've tried to do it a couple of times on the DVD's but I usually get sidetracked somewhere around ROTS.

Thanks for the congrats, everybody. It was a very tiring experience, but fun nonetheless. Somehow, though, my wife didn't find it impressive at all. Hmmmm...
I've thought about doing it with dvds, but never did. I'm glad I did it this way, because I simply let it go. I have a DVR, but didn't pause or rewind or anything. It just played straight through which made it kind of easier to stick with it.
Anyway, as far as how it looked? Well, I don't have an HDTV, but I still receive the HD signal and image. I think my set might have some sort of uplink conversion thing going on, because even though it's not an HDTV, the picture still kicks the ass over standard pictures from regular channels.

I watched most of ROTJ yesterday, it was on the west coast channel between the afternoon games and the night game, in HD and I must say that the space battle at the end looked so much better in HD. In fact I found myself watching the OT more than the PT over the weekend because I've seen all the PT movies in HD on HBO over the years but the OT in HD was something new to me. It was much better. I saw that all 6 films are On Demand in HD until the end of the month as well. Still trying to decide if I want to watch them again or not. Great weekend though. Thank you Cinemax for doing something right.

Ok, for the 30th anniversary, Cinemax is doing it again! And, for those fortunate enough, you can see it in HD! It begins at 3pm with TPM, and looks to conclude sometime around 4:30am.
I did this last fall, of course, as detailed in this very thread, and am very temted to do it agian. Problem is that I work until about 5pm, and I really can't justify using a sick day for this, considering I have all the dvds and can do a marathon whenever I damn well please. On the plus side, Mrs. Rollafett is working that night, so I wouldn't have her giving me sarcastic remarks all night.
Perhaps I'd be able to leave work early? Consider this, I shall.
