View Full Version : Last Word Becomes...The Word to be Rhymed

Ladies and gents, boys and girls...
It is time
Time for a rhyme
Time for a game to reach its prime.
On a day long ago, in a bored but thoughtul moment, I created the Last Word Becomes the First Word thread. The current version shows my pal Rolla as the starter, but that is because when he and I were both moderators here, we had to end each thread at 50 pages and begin a new one, and that he did, which no longer needs to be done (that was a glitch in a prior version of the board, that was fixed).
On another day, in another moment of boredom, I made the The FIRST Word is Now the LAST Word game. Then on yet another day and moment of boredom, I made the First Word and Last Word Remains the Same.
And today as Rolla and I chatted on AIM, as a result of he and I posting rhyming statements in the Deep Thought a Day thread, I thought about starting a new word game where rhymes are the aim. So today I mean to launch another variation of my original "Last Word..." game with a new subject. This one is, drum roll please...
"The Last Word Becomes...The Word to be Rhymed"
Your question most likely is, "How is it played?"
Good question. I'm making this up as I go, so give me a few moments...
Okay.
The Last Word Becomes the Word to be Rhymed.
You take the last word of the prior post, the one above your post, and start a new sentence either ending or beginning with a word that rhymes with the last word of that last post.
Take the last word but don't make it the same,
Make it rhyme such as a dame and her claim
That is the name of the game.
And when you play, make a rhyme as your aim
Don't mess up the game or you'll be to blame
You can make your rhyme funny, but don't make it lame
Rules:
1- Either your last word or your first word must rhyme with the last word of the prior post.
2- You can use the last word of the prior post as your first word or last word, as long as you rhyme that last word as your first or last word. IOW, if you use the last word (of the prior post) and make it your first word or last word if and only if, your corresponding last word or first word rhymes with that prior post's last word.
3- If your first word or last word does not rhyme with the prior post's last word, your post will be ignored. Follow the sequence and don't mess it up.
4- You can add to a the word to use a compound word for your rhyme. Prefixes sych as un, im, in, ect., are also allowed.
Let me see, how do we begin this endeavor?
I've been eating too much and not getting thinner
But I'm pretty hungry and once again craving sushi, so sushi it will be, when I go out to dinner.

NEW RULE ADDED WHICH I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF PREVIOUSLY:
RULE #4) You can add to a the word to use a compound word for your rhyme. Prefixes sych as un, im, in, ect., are also allowed.

Hmmmm....
Y'all last 2 peeps didn't have no rhyme nor reason to the last word not rhyming or reasoning with the name of the game. Likewise, my own sentence before that didn't rhyme with Rolla's last word, but that was because I'd realized that I had provided no way in the rules for the rhyming words to be changed when there were no more rhymes to be made. So for that reason I began what was meant to be a new rule (which will now be editted into the thread rules), in which when all rhyme choices are exhausted, you can start a new rhyming last word as long as you start your new sentence with the same word the last line ended with. Double points are awarded (but they don't really count) when you begin and end a line with a rhyming word rhyming with each other.
Triple points are awarded (though they don't count either) when you start your line with the last word of the last person's line, then rhyme the word halfway through the phrase, and end with a new word to be rhymed.
