The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Has anyone read this series by Alan Moore? It's really quite good and now a movie starring Sean Connery. It's an alternate Victorian age where classic sci-fi, fantasy, characters join together to stop a madman from world domination.

Enter Alan Quartermain, The Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Captain Nemo, and Mina Murray (formerly Harker, of Dracula fame)... all working for Mycroft Holmes.

The trailer looks wild. X-men meets the Victorian age... and no wonder with Fox behind it. If the movie is half as good as the story it'll be fun. It looks really action packed.

The production was ripe with rumors of riffs between stars and director... delays due to flooding, etc... and that sometimes doesn't bode well for a movie. Not to mention the release date has been changed like eight times. But it looks like maybe August of this year.

Has anyone else heard of this or is looking forward to it? As comic adaptations go, this is one I've been anticipating more than Daredevil.

Anyone seen that stupid movie "Mystery Men"? Well that's basically what this looks like.

Except that is entirely nothing like Mystery Men... hrm. The book was awesome. I'm sure the movie won't be as dark though... that'll hurt it. But it's far from stupid.

I think The League of Extraordinary Gentleman looks pretty cool, but the studio is marketing it very poorly.

It's not an X-men type movie, but they're marketing it that way.

So perhaps my judgment based only on the trailer was a bit off.....or maybe not, we'll see.
