Formation Of The Republic

A friend and I had an idea for a story about the formation of the Republic, which I was wanting to call Tales of the Old Republic,but I saw that was taken so I don't really know what I'll call it now. It's set like 25,200 years before ANH and it talks about the war that started the republic. It also talks about the formation of the Jedi order by 2 former republic officers who have special powers(the force) who where discharged for insabordination. They started out in the slums of courascant where they both had to learn how to live for themselves because there parents where killed by mobsters. And,anyway, after they are discharged they become low life smugglers and mercanaries,who are hired by the republic to help fight the war and gather information from enemies. Anyway, they start learning how to use their powers and start their own order,The Jedi. Sound cool?

Aww...come on man, it would be cool to see that the Jedi order is started by two misfits. Everyone probably thinks it was started by some big time bookie nerd people,but seeing that it was created by guys totally out of character for a jedi these days would be cool. Right?

Correct me if im wrong, but wasn't the Jedi order created even before the formation of the Republic?

I am not sure. Many of the EU information on this subject isnt very clear. ???
