Will any of the members of the GS be meeting at Celebration Europe at Earls Court next year?
A number of us from the X-Boards are going to meet up and we're toying with the idea of having some kind of presence there in an official capacity, perhaps even some floor space.
Any plans here?

Well, since I'm in the UK, I really have no excuse not to be there, cash aside.
I'd love to be there and I'd hope that other UK or European members who can get there might be there as well. I've never been to anything like it before (convention virgin!) and I'd hate to miss it.
I might be able to come, too.

These things always interested me but from what I hear the last one was nothing but sellers peddling their products and it's unlikely anyone of interest will be in the UK. Other then Prowse, a few midgets and the people who made Lego Sar Wars 2. Plus LA is a bit closer to me now. Dunno if that's a good thing or not.

The official dates have finally been announced-
“To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars, Lucasfilm Ltd. and The Cards Inc. Group will throw Europe’s largest Star Wars party ever!
Taking over London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre for three days in July 2007, Star Wars Celebration Europe will be filled with live entertainment, celebrities from all six movies, special film and video presentations, an exhibit of movie props and costumes, exclusive merchandise, pop culture tributes, interactive events, a costume contest, and much, much more.
Star Wars Celebration Europe will take place from July 13 to July 15 2007. “I’m thrilled that we’re finally going to have an official Star Wars event in the U.K., and especially to celebrate 30 years of the saga,” said Steve Sansweet, Lucasfilm’s head of fan relations. “George Lucas has referred to the London area as the “spiritual home” of Star Wars since four of the movies were shot here, making this the ideal site for our first Celebration Europe event.”
Star Wars Celebration events have been held regularly in the U.S. since 1999 and are the ultimate festival of all things Star Wars for fans and enthusiasts of all ages. Celebration III, held in Indianapolis in April 2005, attracted more than 34,000 fans from all over the world. Celebration IV, being held in Los Angeles in May 2007, is expected to be the biggest event yet.
Celebration Europe will be the first ever Celebration event held outside the U.S. and will share many of the highlights of Celebration IV in Los Angeles “Star Wars has always been a global phenomenon, and the U.K. has long been our second-largest fan base after the U.S.,” Sansweet said. “With the continuing strength of Star Wars, it made sense to extend Celebration to Europe and I’m delighted to be working with one of our top European licensees, Cards Inc., as our partner on the show.”
One of the highlights for fans at an official Star Wars event is the chance to buy unique merchandise, and Celebration Europe will not disappoint, with an exciting and comprehensive range of exclusive products being sold.
“Cards Inc. is excited to be working with Lucasfilm to bring this incredible event to Europe” said Darren Epstein, Managing Director of The Cards Inc. Group. “We will be working closely with fans, licensors, and all members of the Star Wars community to ensure that Celebration Europe is Europe’s own unique event for all things Star Wars.” Star Wars Celebration Europe will be presented jointly by Lucasfilm and The Cards Inc. Group, which will manage the convention on behalf of Lucasfilm.
Keep checking starwars.com or celebrationeurope.com for updates about tickets, programming, guests, activities, entertainment, and exclusive merchandise for Star Wars Celebration Europe.”

Welcome to the first edition of Celebration Europe News. The big event is now only seven months away and over the coming months more and more exciting news and information will be announced as July approaches. This newsletter will be the source for official news and inside scoops, the articles below should give you a flavour of what is to come in future editions…..
The Stars Shine At Celebration Europe
One exciting feature of Star Wars Celebration Europe will be a dedicated Autograph Hall featuring a wealth of stars from the casts of all six Star Wars movies, where visitors will have the opportunity to meet the stars and obtain autographs. There will also be photo opportunities with selected stars. We have secured the services of the UK’s premier Autograph Contractor, Showmasters Ltd to provide Autograph Guests for the Autograph Hall.
“We have always been impressed with the quality and variety of the guests that Showmasters are able to obtain. Like us, their team includes many die-hard Star Wars fans and the enthusiasm they have for the saga shows through in the quality of their work.” said Darren Epstein Managing Director of The Cards Inc. Group “Together we aim to make Star Wars Celebration Europe the largest gathering of Star Wars autograph signings that Europe has ever seen, including some great first-time guests”
“For over 20 years I have wanted to be involved with an event like this and I’m proud that we’ve been selected to provide the guests for the Autograph Hall. We are going to pull out all the stops to bring fans the greatest gathering of Star Wars guests and celebrities that Europe has ever seen, it will be a weekend long remembered!" said Jason Joiner, Director of Showmasters Ltd.
We hope to be able to bring you the first of many regular guest announcements very soon, stay tuned to www.celebrationeurope.com/showguide_guest.htm (http://javascript<b></b>:ol('http://www.celebrationeurope.com/showguide_guest.htm%2520');) for guest details.
Artists Alley – A gallery far far away…
Another great feature of the show will be the Artists Alley, in which a host of Star Wars artists will be exhibiting their work, offering exclusively created limited edition pieces for sale and running Q&A sessions, demonstrations and how to workshops. Many of the artists will also be available to create custom, one-of-a-kind works for fans by request!
We have already received applications from several noted artists and the available space is filling up nicely so this feature looks set to include a wealth of creative talent, much of which will never have been seen in Europe before.
Celebration Accommodation – Hotel Packages
Once you purchase your admission ticket for Celebration Europe you will have access to a variety of special accommodation rates that are exclusive to Celebration Europe attendees.
To take advantage of these special rates you will need to provide the Hotel with the password ‘Celebration Europe Visitor’ and your Unique Booking Reference Number. You will be provided with this number at the checkout when you book your tickets. Please keep it safe and make a note of it.

right this is my first post back here for a while god knows how long - been off the forum and very busy... still been keeping my peelers on all things SW since, anyway, i'm gonna be at Celebration Europe as an fan of course - but mainly as a Dealer selling stuff... so if any of you dudes from the GS are going to be at the event pop by stand D148 - Big Screen Satellite Collectables and say hi - and i'll do anyone from the GS a 10% discount on any day you are there - just let me know you're from the GS
i'll be selling loads of Modern Era toys, hard to find out of stock items, figures, magazines, clothing all sorts really... a wide variaty of stuff.
anyway as a heads up and as an official dealer for CE, i'll probably get the heads up on news in advance, so i'll post it when i get it...
but its great to be involved and to be going to this awesome event.

well if you book early enough and now i'd say - then you should be able to get a travel lodge or travel inn for around £15 - £35 per night within 15 miles - i know (because needing accom, as a dealer at CE) i booked my travellodge hotel about 3 weeks ago and am paying £78 for three nights stay (£26 per night) and i'm just 8 miles from the venue - this is not a dealer rate just from their website... the earlier you book teh cheaper it is, but don't expect the best rates right close to the venue

cj...as long as there is a day...it's all good. Saturday night for drinks and heavy finger food? Sounds like the beginning of a wonderful relationship... The young people have been going 35 mph each day so I fobbed off this afternoon for a quiet day in. That way no one is going out of their way to get to the trough or to head home.

So my ticket drama is over *sighs with relief* thanks to my rebel hero boyfriend.
While he was at work he phoned the seeticket folks to find out what the hell was going on and what could I do if I didn't get my ticket in time. They told him, I'd have to buy one on the door and claim it back from the Royal Mail because they (the ticket company) had posted it out urgent delivery (which is besides the point because the tickets should have been posted out sooner than the week of the fricking convention). My boyfriend was a bit annoyed about this and asked for the ticket's postal tracking number. The guy wasn't being helpful about it and was humming and hawing. My boyfriend asked for it again and said he was going to kick up a huge fuss with the small claims court and the guy then got off his lazy arse to find out what the tracking number was. Then my boyfriend phoned our regional postal sorting office and asked whether or not the ticket had arrived there yet and gave them the number. They said it had but wasn't due for delivery till tomorrow (I was due to fly before the post arrived) and then said that it wouldn't arrive tomorrow anyway because there was going to be a postal strike.
*boyfriend sighs*
He then explained the whole situation and told how I was flying down to London etc etc and the guy (who was super nice) said it wasn't allowed normally but if my boyfriend could make it down to the sorting office before he left his shift he would let him have the ticket. My boyfriend then managed to get away from work early (because of his nice and understanding boss) and got to the sorting office where the man handed them over and said he hoped I had a great time!
When i got home from work, all down and ready for a drawn out drama, my man said 'Who's the best boyfriend in the world?' and waved my 3 day pass at me! WOOT!!!!
He is the greatest! :w00t: I love him so much for understanding about my whole Star wars thing!
I am happy again!!!

Horsey, my good man, as long as it don't need a passport to get home you got it!
I packed light so there is plenty of room in my bag. No worries!
Well, if you see this messege... I would like 1 or 2 of each of the exclusive figures (not sure if there's more than one, which may require standing in 2 lines) and a few of the CE coins that they should be passing out at the Hasbro booth (also if they hand out card backs, those would be cool) ... finally a R2/D2 CE shirt (XL) would be the topper... I can pay you by PayPal or however you like.
Thanks in advance... :)

Hope everyone had a good time.
However, a pal of mine was there on Saturday and said he had an absolutely miserable time - he goes to lots of cons and said that this was one of the worst, citing extremely rude staff, disinterested interviewers, not much to actually see except stalls selling things. Bearing in mind, however, that he is of the bitter variety of SW fan these days, plus for him it wsn;t an excuse to meet other folks and get pished.
Hope you lot had a better time. Now getchyer pics up!

True CE story. Walking through the different stalls..looking for those items I had on my list... what did I hear but a loud shout.
"Hey!" "Hey, you!" Looking around ...attempting to make sure my zipper wasn't undone or my purse spilling out, I see a man looking at me smiling.
"Hey!" I hear again.
"That's T-Bone!" He says pointing to my Horsey-made CE badge.
Above him I see that he is an exhibitor and artist - Steven Anderson.
I lift my Horsey-made CE badge and spout, "Yep, I'm Nef from Galatic Senate!"
He gestures me over and we spend a good 15 minutes chatting. In the end I'm a good customer and convince him that T-Bone needs one of his numbered posters. And it needs signing. He points to the one I'm looking at and says, "It is signed." I tell him, "Nah...something nasty. For T-Bone." I get a questioning look, but when I return from the check out, he's already working on it.
I like it! You'll certainly get what everyone has on the front of your poster T-Bone. Be sure to check the back!
Excellent badge Horsey! Made me the star!

Yep, thanks to Horsey we had our badges on full view to show the world! :)
Talcy, I don't have any other convention experience to compare to, but I have been told that the American versions have been better. The staff were not the greatest, but it was in London and those guys are getting £5 an hour. I didn't see anyone being outright rude.
There were a lot of dealer stalls, but more props etc on show would have been better. It seemed a bit strange that there is a SW exhibition near the London Eye - it would have been better to combine the two, but then most of the space in ExCel did seem to be used up. Warwick Davis was an excellent host on the main stage and he asked some decent questions, whilst being lighthearted. However, I was disappointed by the lack of the in-depth SW discussion I was hoping for - I felt the time on stage could have been better used.
All in all though, I had a great 3 days - I was there from the start to the finish each day and even though I had to put up with Flo all day every day (:nahnah:) it was a top time. I would definitely go to another one in the UK, but I would hope that they would learn from the mistakes made this time around.

Ok, well the other guys will sort out the pics, so here is my CE diary:
Thurs 12th
11am Pick up Flo from Gatwick. She is wearing a nice scarf.
1pm Cook Flo lunch, she did not slip any poison into it, I see that as a good sign.
3pm Watch a horrendous Scottish film called Red Road. It is awful - don't ever watch it! We waited 53 minutes to hear the use of a certain adult word that is actually used every 5 minutes in Scotland in real life. There is also some disturbing nudity. :barf:
6pm Flo drags me to the pub. We sup much ale. At dinner we learn that Pommes de neuf means chips.
2am Collapse drunkenly onto the sofa.

I hope no-one minds my sequential posting, but I thought they would be more readable in day format rather than one long ramble............
Friday 13th
6am Up bright and early to ensure we get to CE on time. The force is with us and we arrive half an hour before the celebration opens. In fact, what with it being Fri 13th, we are worried we have dropped a wrong 'un as the car park is empty, but all was good once we saw a few Jedi and stormtroopers and a massive Chewbacca!
9am After picking up our lanyards we are amongst the first people to head into the venue. The SW theme music is playing and small lasers are projected around the ceiling, bouncing off the Death Star in the entrance hall. I feel 7 years old again, it's great. :w00t:
Walk into the main hall, note that it is £85 for Mark Hamill's autograph, decide against that, not unsurprisingly. Have a bad moment when I think I see an ex girlfriend but fortunately it is just a model of Jabba and some members of his band.
9.30am We have been through and made our purchases in the CE shop. I got the R2-D2 and C-3P0 concept figures from Ralph McQuarrie, a retro-style R2 t-shirt and of course the event programme. Flo resists buying the very expensive Boba Fett statue.
10am As the general riff-raff enter the convention, we take a wander down the art aisles and there really was some fantastic things on show. Quality. :) However, a lack of funds mean that I ultimately go home with nothing to show in this respect.
We also walked around all the dealers and there did seem to be some great items and some older, presumably rarer stuff as well. However, I am not really a collector and so was looking out of interest rather than with any great intention of buying anything.
11am, perv at first Padme and slave Leia, then head into the main stage to see Kenny Baker. He likes a drink and going off at random and talking about things! After, Flo sees a Fett, but is disappointed as he is about 5 foot 2 inches.
1pm Head up to the fan lounge for some lunch, it was alright up there and we waited there and met the lovely LeiaO and her hot friend. :like: Flo manages to insult a member of the 'cast and crew', though we are not sure who he exactly is, but she spends the rest of the weekend avoiding him anyway!
4pm, we head down to join the queue for Mark Hamill, but it is already all the way around the centre, so we decide to head outside ready for the viewing of ANH.
6pm Steve Sansweet introduces Mark Hamill, who manages to mess up his introduction of Ian McDiarmid, despite that being the only thing he had to do! Ian is fantastic, using the impolite version of the phrase for falling bottom over chest. He also pulls his jacket over his head and does a Sidious impression, the crowd love him.
7pm The first outside viewing of ANH. Superb to watch it with other SW fans and everyone cheers when the film rolls and also when their favourite character appears on the screen. It seems Alec Guinness and Harrison Ford are more popular than Mark Hamill. :scratchchin:
7.10pm Some guys dressed up and rebels run across the front of the screen pretending to blast the stormtroopers as the Tantive IV gets boarded. Big cheers.
7.30pm LeiaO makes her first wookie impression. LOL. Moments earlier both LeiaO and Flo are jiggling to the Cantina music (which incidentally I have had in my head most of the weekend).
8pm It seems that everytime a ship flies across the screen, a plane takes off from London City Airport and adds to the noise we are hearing from the speakers!
8.30pm It could only happen in England. Just as Obi-Wan and Vader are duelling the film goes wrong and stops. However, 2 lads stand up and re-enact the fight with their Master Replica sabers, great laugh.
8.50pm Finally the film gets back underway once the work experience boy has sorted out the problems. It seems the rest of the outside broadcast team are in the pub!
9.15pm - Cheers as the Death Star is blown up! Once the film ends there is a great deal of cheering, what a great event - if only they had shown all 6 films!
9.45pm Pub time, but like a fool I am driving! Just as I walk up to the bar to ask a Jedi whether he wants to buy any death sticks, he walks off. Must have sensed me coming.
Midnight - get home and crack open a bottle of vodka with Flo. We talk bollox for a few hours................

Saturday 14th
6.30am I wake up feeling like crap, not surprising as all the vodka in the bottle seems to have somehow disappeared. Maybe Gungans broke in and stole it in the night. I laugh at Flo as she looks terribly hungover. Of course a mere few hours later and I still look like sith and she is back to her usual lovely self.
9am We walk through the merchandise shop in just 5 minutes, my brother and his fiance have joined us. I resist the temptation to buy anything else. All the posters which looked excellent, in a Sgt Pepper's style, have already been sold. I probably should have got one.
9.15am We head up to the fan club lounge and yay, we meet Nef! I spend next 10 minutes apologising for not recognising her right off! Then CJ rings me (he had originally gone to Earls Court by mistake!!!) and we also meet up with him. They are both the greatest!
10am Flo is shaking with excitement as we head in to see the Fetts - unfortunatley Tem was not there, but her fave Jeremy Bulloch was and was a great interviewee. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about Daniel Logan who seemed to not have a scooby doo what was going on, or sometimes even what SW was! However, maybe his mind had gone funny from when he had to sit in 90-odd different positions and poses in one day for an AOTC shot.
Midday Us GS'ers have an early lunch and sit there discussing the movies and notably the differences in our views on the PT vs the OT. My bro gangs up with Flo, but both Nef and I defend TPM, to some extent. It's almost as if we know what we are talking about. At this point Mark Hamill walks into the fan club lounge. Fair play to the guy, he was great with the kids in there.
1pm We head to see Charlie Ross in his one man SW trilogy. A few people walk out, presumably they had their senses of humour removed as the guy was absolutely brilliant. I was hurting through laughing and the energy with which he performs, the replication of the sounds, voices and music and the story accuracy is top class. ANH is the best of the 3, but all were very good. If you haven't seen this guy - GO SEE HIM!
2.30pm Flo watches some mad German guy from the 501st Legion describing how to make a Fett costume. I would have paid attention too, but there was an extremely fit slave Leia sat right in my eyeline..........
Notice that we did not go and see Anthony Daniels...........
4pm We head to the bar for a few jars. Nef is fascinated by the English accents. I cannae understand a clatty word that Flo says still. :nahnah:
6pm We go for some tapas and more alcohol and have a great laugh. If all the other Senators are as nice as the ones that I met then I wanna meet you all!
8pm We head down to the Waterfront for a 'party'. It is just a few drinks really but there are some great costumes down there.
9.30pm As night falls, all the Jedi and the Sith climb up the high bridge over the river. Sith to the left, Jedi to the right (isn't that a Stealers Wheel lyric?!) - all ignite lightsabers and charge towards each other. An absolutely fantastic sight and probably the highlight of the convention in terms of what the fans did. I hope that a video of it can be found.
Edit: Here is a video from someone who was up on the bridge, hopefully a video of the battle from ground level to see the scale of it will be available soon:
YouTube - Star Wars - Celebration Europe London 2007 - Jedi Fight
Second edit: Here is a short clip from ground level - I'm hoping for one closer up soon!

Midnight Return home, tired but having had a grand day.

Sunday 15th
8am Bit of a lie in, knowing that traffic will be lighter.
10am Potter around for a bit - finally see a fit Padme to have my pic taken with but unfortunately all her Jedi friends got in the pic as well. Flo found a decent Fett to have her picture taken with but 'didn't touch his bum as there were too many kids around'. What do you reckon guys, is she losing her touch, what sort of Bounty Hunter would she make?! :nahnah:
11am Watch some discussion about the new Clone Wars cartoon and then see the trailer in HD, surround sound and it is awesome, this really is something to look forward to and upgrade your tv's for! :w00t:
12.30pm - Saw Billy Dee Williams. He is still Mr Smooth and is a nice guy, but he is wired to the moon! Ask a simple question and he will go off on some spiritual tangent! Guys, he may have his own fragrance out soon, so soon we can all be as successful with the ladies.
2.30pm Watched the re-enactment, by fans, of the Mustafar sequence. Although they didn't really swing for each other they did it pretty well and it was worth watching.
4pm Interview with Robert Watts regarding the production of the OT. Found out that he is Jeremy Bulloch's brother - they have different Dads. An interesting interview, but more importantly they reannounced information that Rick McCallum had given the previous day:
THERE ARE GOING TO BE 400 SW TV SHOWS!!!!!!!!!! :happydance:
Now, please don't shoot me if this does not turn out to be the case, but both Flo and I heard it from the Warwick Davis and we are both stunned and amazed at the news and cannot wait! Apologies if this has already been announced elsewhere on the board - as I have been at CE I haven't had a chance to check any other threads yet.
6pm Still sitting there in amazement, saying the words "four flipping hundred!" Flo considered that to be the best conversation she got out of me all weekend.
7pm Driving round the centre of London, no idea where I am going trying to meet up with LeiaO and CJ again. Manage to follow some guy the wrong way down a one way street. Oops.
8.30pm Finally find somewhere free to park near Tower Hill and head to the pub with the other Senators, unfortunately we did not see Nef this time. But we had a meal and a great laugh.
Midnight Time for everyone to head home. It has been a superb weekend and thanks to all the other Senators who I met, for their part in making it an amazing experience and a great weekend. I'm looking forward to C5 already and I may even go in costume!
